Make sure your Video card is in a 8x or 16x PCI-E slot. I have seen some guys force the 1x slot (break the back of the slot off so a 4x,8x,16x card will fit).

The other thing is to make sure you are using your PCI-E 16x Lanes correctly. There are some older MB’s that will down rate the GPU Slot if other PCI-E slots are populated. Though, the lowest ive seen them get down laned to is 4x (6 PCI-E slots, 4 Slots on the CPU, 16x being the max supported….ect).

So you gotta be aware of this when you install other PCI-E cards in your system to make sure they are not sharing the Lanes of your GPU.

Make dyes account bound

If dyes were account bound, they would all be worth nothing really. Keeping them character bound allows them to hold value.

Actually it is the other way around.

People now buy a dye they need for their char. They preview them and then buy the one they need.

Now if they could collect them account wide (add a nice title similar to the Emperor title for cultural armor collection) and there is more demand. Meaning prices will be better for very rare dyes as people start to collect them instead of choosing what they need.

Think Minis here and even add maybe account bound dyes? New option instead of the backpack-of-the-week you get the oversaturated color of the week a lot of people run around with.

It is not about the dye they buy a second or third time but about all dyes people will buy! Way more demand.

Soul Bound stuff holds no value in the game. It is alt-unfriendly. And people who play a lot of different characters don’t switch items back and forth. They give every alt its own gear.

But soulbound dyes is just a stupid idea. I understand where it comes from when the game was released. But it has no meaning anymore.

Yes, there will be people who whine because they bought a dye a lot of times. But no problem if you have it on multiple characters you get the dye itself back in form of a dye pack of equal rarity (one time process). Nice way to start your collection or you could sell this RNG pack (unidentified rare dye, unidenfitied frame and frost dye, whatever)

well if they were to make it so that some dyes had to be forged and the recieving dye was BoA/Soulbound so it couldnt be traded, I can see some promise here.

But the game has been out a year, lots and i mean LOTS of players have bought 3-4 expensive dies per account (1 for each character). I just dont see the dye mechanic changing, even though I would LOVE for them to be account bound at this point.

and finally

Over all investment of the over all player base, that already has been made.

Combo Fields

There are currently 23 useful Combo Fields out of a total of 36. Of those 23 we ‘as a community’ use a total of 13 on a daily basis (from what I have seen in WvW and at world Bosses).

Those 13 are;

In the order of Finisher\Field popularity
Fire-Blast\Leap = Might+(Fury)\Fire Shield
Lighting-Blast = Swiftness
Water-Blast\leap\Whirl\Projectile = Healing\Healing\Healing\regeneration
Ethereal-Blast\Leap = Chaos Armor\Chaos Armor
Light-Whirl\Projectile = Remove Condition\Remove Condition
Poison-Projectile\Whirl = Poison\Poison

That is less then 1/3 of the combo fields we have open to us that I see getting used regularly.

Those are combo field skills.
OP speaks that combo fields themselves are tactically useless.
There is a difference between “Combo Field Skill” and “Combo Field”, of which there are only 9.

No, OP is clearly talking about Combo Fields in their state with Finishers, and not the combo fields themselves.

He talks mainly about piercing an arrow through a poison field (20% Finisher I bet) and how its lack luster for him. He does not really talk much about the field’s presence all that much…other then maybe that other players dont see them or setup to use them when they do see them….ect.

Fire Field + Blast Finisher = LOLMIGHTSTACKING

Do you even zerk bro?

Also lol at the “there are none that are good!” sentiment.
The ele can solo-stack some 20 stacks of might using the right weapons and traits.

As I said, some are ok.

Calculate how many fields are in the game, and how many you think are really good? Which do have tactical use behind? From how many you speak in team speak that you want the field A?

Or is that, “Giev my mihgt, ZEEEERGDOOOM!”

I may have gotten this but 800 gems is far too much for this kind of content. That’s like a monthly subscription and I don’t think that’s worth a month in subscription fees.

What you said is completely contradictory. If you bought it, it’s priced correctly. That’s how supply and demand works.

They didn’t say that they bought it, they said that they may have been interested in buying it had it not been as expensive as it is, that had it been less expensive they’d have probably picked one up.

That is also in line with my feelings on the subject of Infinite Gathering Tools; I don’t mind “Soulbound on Use”, but at 800 Gems each…thanks, but no thanks. If they were 200 Gems each I’d be buying dozens of them. At 800 I won’t even be buying one.

Again, ArenaNet…people are more willing to make many smaller amount purchases over a single larger one, even if it ends up costing more in the long run. At 200 Gems each, I’d happily spend 6000 gems to outfits 10 characters with a single set of Infinite Gathering Tools, instead I’m spending no gems.

I’d also have no problem with buying additional versions of the infinite tools on each of those 10 characters when they are released or made available. I’d swap out to whichever I felt like using at the time. So also buying each variation of each Infinite Gathering Tool across 10 characters would really add up.

Infinite Gathering Tools
10 Characters
3 Infinite Tools Each
3 Variations of Each Tool (when made available)
18,000 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 200 Gems per tool
22,500 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 250 Gems per tool
ZERO – # of Gems I’ve spent and will ever spend on Infinite Tools that cost 800 Gems Each

And that’s just on Infinite Gathering Tools and not even getting into what would have been spent on pieces from a single set of Gem Armor had armor pieces been sold individually in the gem store instead of as full sets.

99% of marketing is psychology.

Anet want people to buy gems with $ not gold. Your argument is invalid.

Anet wants people to buy gems, period, they don’t care whether is with $ or gold.

Lots of people seem to have the idea that gems purchased with gold are free gems, that’s not the case. Not counting the time used to get the gold, gems might be free to you, but someone already paid for them, and Anet got their money (well, there might have been some free ones placed there at release to start the market).

Each gem you buy with gold means that someone previously bought it with real money and sold it for gold, which is why the price fluctuates so much (offer and demand, more people selling gems = price of gems goes down, more people buying them with gold = price goes up). From anet point of view is exactly the same, they already got the money from the gems in the first place.

They obviously benefit from people buying gems with real money, and they also benefit from people buying them with gold, since when you do that you keep the market alive and well, making it attractive for more people to buy gems with money to convert to gold, plus it serves as a gold sink (converting gold to gems and back again takes about 30% out of the economy).

You do know that gold is generated by the system from nothing, right? It’s not a closed economy. That’s why there are so many gold sinks because they need to destroy the gold that is being generated. The gold you spend wasn’t introduced to the system from gems. The gold you spend stops existing, there isn’t some well where all the gold comes from/goes to and if everyone stopped spending any gold on anything it would eventually run dry.

Gold is generated from nothing, but that was not my point, my point is that gems aren’t generated from nothing, each gem bought in the game with gold was ultimately paid by someone for real money. Anet doesn’t care whether you buy gems with gold or real money, from their point of view it’s just A: gem is purchased with money and B: gem is spent in the gem store, regardless of how many times that gem was exchange to and from gold in the meanwhile.

You do realize that Anet/NCSoft generates the gems, yea?

So your point is nonsense.

His argument is very valid. No where in there did he mention exchanging Gold for Gems (which is 5g per 100Gems, BTW).

I am tired of the insane Micro ‘Quality of Life’ Transactions. 800 gems is too much. They need to be between 250-400 gems per slot per character. No more. I’m with the above poster, at 800 gems I’m not buying it.

Cash to Gems or Gold to Gems. Time is money, in or out of the game. and the time it takes to earn 65g for ONE of these items is not worth the item itself.

If you are not using combo fields, you are not playing right. Everyone should be benefiting from Combo fields. Its a free Boon, effect, or healing that you are otherwise missing out on.

And ANET did boost Combo Fields on some 30point Traits.

Ele can now grant Fury on Fire fields with Might stacking, for example.

Combo fields still have a way to goes to be ‘better’, but they should not be ignored.

I think that if they did this, Zommoros should be unkillable.

The Boss fight would be to get Zom down to 10% or 5%, he then backs off with a ’I’m Sorry for taking your precious items and giving you junk, most of the time’ Type statement. Then you get your dung rewards, Zom vanishes in a puff of smoke and a cut scene where you are looking up through the Mystic Forge and you see parts of LA (the Bank, the Class Trainers…ect).

All in for the spirit of fun.

P.S I really like the idea of a Key (World Drop – World bosses) and 3 other items. I think it should be 4 other items though. And its a party popup menu where the ‘leader’ drops in the key, and the 4 remaining party members must sacrifice something of their own in order to open the instance. This way no one can enter it alone, and the higher the quality the item (level 45 Blue would give a easier scaled instance compared to level 80 rares), the better the scaling of that mode.

I don’t understand how I’m affected by this lag when a guildie how lives in the same city, using the same ISP, doesn’t get it…

I’m basically paying a monthly fee to play this game now, because I have to pay for a proxy service each month! If it’s as simple as sending traffic through a proxy, can’t they give us some command line args we can use to specify a proxy server to proxy our traffic through?!

Thats how the internet works, Dynamic BGP routing. Just cause you both live in the same City doesn’t mean your taking the same routing path. the issue is at level3 currently (ATT has some issues too, but only if your going through Northern CA from what ive seen). Level3 always has issues, I just wish ArenaNet would use Centurylink or Verizon for their main ISP Feed rather then level3 (The routing kinda says that they are getting resold Level3 Services through a LEC Program).

Id first scan for infections. Since its not just GW2 that is freezing, but other games/Applications that would lead to something interfering with your stability.

Malwarebytes, Avast!, TDSSKiller, HitmanPro – All programs I Suggest using for scanning your system for infections.

You might also want to run memtest86+ for 48 hours to make sure your RAM checks out with 0 errors.

Then, make sure your drivers are stable. Start with the chipset drivers, then move into the video Drivers.

Elementalist damage way too low?

in Elementalist

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

But now reading the forums, i had no idea every other single class has higher armor and health and can hit for 20-50K, What the hell?!.

This is so inflated its not funny. The highest single hit damage a player can do to a normal target is about 15k (Thief traited for Back stab+Stealth), the rest are between 7k-9k depending on Might stacking, Vulnerability stacking on your target, and your Crit Damage%.

My Ele, which is 30-fire 30-air 10-arcane, will crit between 7k and 8.4k with 25 stacks of might and 25 stacks of Vulnerability on my target. Thats using Staff and mainly fire skills to hammer the damage out. I have recently switched to a faster Scepter/Focus Build, and the damage might be less (5.6k is the max i have seen) but the damage output is so much faster. So I’m doing 2-3x’s the amount of damage in that single Staff Hit.

So when taking damage output into account its more then just a single ‘max’ number. You need to look at Burns, Bleeds, How fast are you hitting, how many Skills are hitting in between your auto attack.

Then Look at your Glass Cannon Build, what is your Attack, what is your Crit%, what is your Crit Damage%…ect.

My Crit is 55% Base (99% with all Boons), Crit Damage is 98%, and my Attack is 3148, My Armor is 2245 (So when I use #2 on Earth Scepter I have 2500 Armor).

So that should give some good idea of what to look for in all reality.

Was there ever any reasoning behind this?

Sclerite Karka Shell (Item – Ascended upgradable – should be added as a Skin)
Horns of the Dragon Skin
Slickpack Back Skin

And looks like more to come?..

I think Anet needs to go back in time and anyone who has earned the achievements for the Skins, should get an account update for those skins to be added to the panel.

Before I talk about anything else, look at the number of forum posts on “Teq”. And then compared that to the number of forum posts on “TA Assault” or even “MA Dungeon”. You can clearly tell which event gets the players’ attentions. World events are more popular than dungeons.

The only point I agreed with is “the wait”. This is unacceptable and Anet got to find a way to fix this.

I actually enjoy the “difficulty”. We already have way too many mindless content in PvE. I am glad we are starting to get some that needs organization. Yes organization is a requirement now, and that’s how you make yourself a better player. That’s how you get player growth. If you join the TTS guild, there is zero reason why you can’t beat Teq at least once. And trust me when you beat Teq for the first time, that feeling is great.

“Rewards”, I don’t really care about that. I think this game is already too focused on a “carrot on a stick”. Its time this game becomes fun without any rewards.

Teq isnt fun anymore. You need to ‘hunt’ down a server and RNG your Luck to Pug the dragon Kill. OR you need to be in one of the specific Teq Killer Guilds. While I do like what I am seeing in the community around this new content. I do not like how they ripped the encounter away from casual players, and Players that just dont really ‘want to play’ the game, but rather coast through it.

If you want to kill teq you need to get to the first spawn after server reset, and hope you hit a lucky engaged server that isnt in overflow (RNG). Or be one of the first ones to show up if your in a Teq Killer Guild. But it seems that Teq Killing only happens RIGHT after server reset since we cannot control when he spawns. I wish this fact was fixed, and its a huge time sink away from so much more of the game.

Jormag and Shatterer were left alone, they are both very facerollable. So why only Teq is like this. THIS is what feels unbalanced to me!

Can we stop with Back Item and Weapon Skins?

in Living World

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

A backpiece or weapon skin is one skin. Armour needs to be done differently for, at minimum, each race and gender: that’s 10 skins. That’s for each piece of armour, so 60 for a full set. Multiply that by 3 if the armour is going to be different for each class of armour (heavy, medium, light).

Armour also needs to be able to be dyed, which weapons and backpieces don’t.

Fused Gauntlets
Dragon Helm
Scarlet Invsasion 1/2 Shoulder piece (Looks Awesome with the Rose Back!!)
radiant Shoulders, Helm, Gloves
Hellfire shoulders, helm, gloves

No more excuses on this front, Plenty of Armor skins are showing up, just more weapon/back when compared to armor. BUT all the armor is race/armor-class generic.

There’s alot of issues with the Game Client.

1. its 32bit, and can only use 2.8GB to 3.1GB of ram before it crashes (in most cases from what I’ve seen)

Not entirely sure on how true this is. I’ve played for at least 5 hours one day at highest settings at 5040×900 resolution (Eyefinity) and did a SB event about 4 hours in, and didn’t crash. I’ve never had a memory-related crash in the past either. It could be possible I just never hit that kind of memory usage, but if that’s true, I fail to see how anyone would reach such usage, unless you take part in large-scale WvW battles for a few hours maybe with no rest…

There are more, but those are the biggest issues IMHO. I think its time Anet gave us a new client to test with. Use open platform Compiler, make the code 64bit, and search for all the cores and actively thread across them all.

I do agree with this though. However, it seems GW2 currently uses Visual Studio’s built-in compiler (I could be wrong, but I checked with multiple programs and Linux), which is pretty unbiased from my understanding. Worse-case scenario would be GW2 using Intel’s compiler… in which case I’d imagine AMD user’s having half the performance they do now. Not sure what other choices for a compiler are available, or how viable they are.

In windows, open Performance Monitor (Task Manager>Performance Tab), goto Memory and look for GW2.exe and watch it while you play. I am curious to what your max Memory usage it for the process, but I seem to crash mostly at SB/WvW and Frozen Maw when there are 50+ Players around and the GW2.exe reaches 2.7GB of ram used.

As for the compiler, it completely depends on the code used to build the application.

better question – why doesnt he have admin rights to the McAfee AV solution on his laptop. that would suggest a company/school machine, or a parents machine that they let their kid play on.

If he is a power user or normal Windows user, he may not be able to patch/download GW2 at all.

20 fps is about as good as you’ll get in zvz.

As i said; max settings and not optimally overclocked.
I’m sure i can get more, hence the question regarding demanding settings
and oc potential.

No arguing that the game is horribly optimized
and the engine is a bad joke but still…

You dont understand. Even with the top of the line hardware. 20FPS is the max you can expect to get in a full on zerg in WvW (even worse near heavily populated areas with environmental effects/buildings).

thats how badly this game is coded.

If you do the BT method, be very careful about the resource, verify the reviews/rating for the torrent. You dont want to get an infected version of the game and have your account stolen.

Then you are running a 32bit version of windows?
GW2 takes up alot of ram. 1.2GB to launch the application and it will consume more as you enter populated areas. The fact you have 4GB is a bit crippling IMHO.

If your system cant take more then 4GB, then I suggest looking at upgrading before to long.

But thats a different topic, The issue you had was an Out of Memory crash (OOM at the start of the report). You can try and shut down other applications before starting GW2, that should help some. But other then that, your looking at hardware replacement.

Thats a memory crash.

Your system has a little less then 4GB of ram (Shows as 3582MB – Shared Ram with Onboard Video?).

GW2.exe looks to be using about 2.7GB of your physical Ram (Estimating, it doesnt break it down in the report).

From what I have seen, GW2.exe likes to crash at 2.8-3.1GB of ram used against the gw2.exe application.

Aside from that, you have 4GB of ram, with GW2 and windows(dunno what else you have running), you have only 847MB of physical ram free. And due to that you are swapping alot of memory into the page file, about 1246MB of virtual ram is being used in the swap.

I would say, upgrade your system to 8GB of ram. I dont think it will stop the crashes (I still think its random, but the Numbers are 2.8GB-3.1GB from my personal testing) it should help.

Will the Optimization help AMD CPU's ?

If by AMD Optimization the OP means support for more than 4 cores then I would lean toward the no column. Games aren’t as easily subdivided into similar tasks that by throwing more cores at it’s performance will scale linearly. This isn’t video compression, ray tracing or any other task where the same block of code can be spun off to N-1 cores with a supervisor thread overseeing coordination. Plus there are considerably fewer true six and eight core CPUs than there are four (no most i7s are still four cores).

If by AMD Optimization the OP means the discussion a few weeks back that brought up the Intel compiler and optimized library incident from a few years ago, where Intel’s compiler actively refuse to acknowledge when any non-Intel CPU supported any streaming instruction set beyond SSE2 so the libraries used for advance math algorithms like FFT would always perform worse. Well I doubt there is much SSEx code in the game and that ArenaNet would choose to use Intel’s compiler. However Intel is known to analyze software to determine the frequency of which instructions are used including sequences of instructions and with that knowledge optimize their next generation CPU to perform those instructions or series of instructions just a little faster than before. That’s what helps determines the arrangement and number of execution units in the core to improve Intel’s superscaling and HT effectiveness.

Now general high level code optimization will benefit both Intel and AMD equally.

At work we have a business system that went through this very same thing. The Application server, was coded to use Intel SSE tech. But we were using AMD virtual hosts (2300 series CPUs at the time) that did not understand how to use the SSE optimizations. so the application went into software rendering mode and pretty much Bombed. Only by upgrading to AMD 6128 CPUs (Later on e5’s) were we able to fully use the compilers optimization.

Using a platform dependent compiler is very painful on the end users/customers. I wish more people would go open platform.

and I really hope that isn’t the case here, for GW2. If it is, it’s just kittened.

There’s alot of issues with the Game Client.

1. its 32bit, and can only use 2.8GB to 3.1GB of ram before it crashes (in most cases from what I’ve seen)
2. it can only thread across 6 Cores (Physical, not HT – Tested with a Dual Socket Xeon e5 8core+HT/socket server. Interesting results I would say) – This is what cripples the high end GPUs. If my CPU locks at 80% used while Gw2 is running my GPU will jump to a good 75-80% used (GPU-Z). But if the CPU usage drops down below 68%, then GPU drops to sub 50%. This behavior is weird IMHO.
3. Uses ALOT, and i mean ALOT, of Disk I/O – Was running a couple VirtualBox Images last night updating my Imaging staging area to Win8.1(RTM), and while the install was going on (Force cap at 25MB/s – My Drives will run at 175MB/s) GW2 was sucking up all the rest available I/O. Feels like more of the game should be put into Memory (My system has 32GB of ram, the entire game can fit into the memory!)

There are more, but those are the biggest issues IMHO. I think its time Anet gave us a new client to test with. Use open platform Compiler, make the code 64bit, and search for all the cores and actively thread across them all.

Getting Low FPS on High-End Hardware

yea, its to be expected.

But I have noticed one thing. The resolution running at 1080p(or higher) seems to really cripple this game. While the native resolution is hard to not use, try running your system at 1600×900 and see what you get.

I have a media center box (Running really high hardware for 1080p Bluray decoding, Emulation, and Gaming at the 65" TV) Resolution is 1080p. All my games run as expected by Gw2. To get the same Performance I get on my workstations, I had to drop my 1080p Res down to 1600×900, and I saw an increase of 25~ FPS on average.

While, I dont know if the same would work in your scenario, its worth a shot.

I just dont think the gw2 client can run at the higher resolution.

BUT, thats not going to fix congested areas (LA will still be 30-35FPS, WvW 18-25FPS IF YOU ARE LUCKY, and world bosses will still cause your system to dive into the teens if its over populated with players).

Hey, I run on 3monitors for non-invasive content (Dungeons, World Bosses, Champ Trains…ect). I’d never do it for WvW though! I get 38-45FPS at 5060×900 on High (not extreme high) settings :-) WvW is like 10FPS if im lucky :-)

But your right on the money. Anet has no excuse for the poor performance of this game. Looking back over history, WoW, Bioshock, Cyrsis3, Fallout3, they all use the hardware efficiently.

GW2 has been out for a year now, its really time they dump some of their Living story Funds into fixing the performance of this game.

cause…I’ll tell you what, Every LS release lasts me a max of 3days before I get all the Meta Achievements I want (the account reward for that release). the daily takes me 45mins to complete on average, the Monthly takes me 2 days on average, I’ll farm the Champs in FSG for 5 hours a week (to keep my gold reserves up), and run 2 Dungeons a week (to work on the Title). Do you know what I’m doing with the rest of my Gaming time? WvW – Where the game is the weakest. IMHO this is a HUGE problem.

There is lacking PvE content (no real reason to grind dungeons once you are 80 and in full Exotics/Ascended (Except FoTM20’s, for the Fused Rings for your alts and such). There are no Raids(or Linear Progression). There is a serious lack of Guild activity (The weekly events take our guild 4 hours to do on a single Saturday. This content is weak and boring.) And sPVP is a tweakers convention. While its fun ‘sometimes’, with the Skill lag spikes, and such its not nearly as fun as WvW (IMHO).

So after you strip out any grinding content, all that is left is sPVP or WvW. Which would be FINE, if the dumb game was optimized for such.

and, If in 6 months of the performance of WvW (the main feature here) is not adequate, I highly doubt I’ll be playing this game as much as I am now (Just like how I have not played Diablo3 since GW2 was released, its a dumb game that is boring… But its also free after the license Purchase).

But, in all reality. For a game that has no monthly cost, how can we as the players make such demands? Its not like its any skin off NCsoft’s Back if they lose 10-20% of their player base from time to time, due to Programming issues.

Solution to Condition Cap

in Suggestions

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

Conditions need to be on par with Crit Direct Damage. If you say you can crit for 15k every 2.8 seconds (Thief traited for Stealth+Backstab) then the top Condition build should be able to push that much damage in the same time period. But there should be conditions that are met for it to be possible.

I always though that condition classes are support/control roles. Meaning, if you are doing Dots on your target you are also doing things to cripple their abilities (Healing, movement, Attack speed, Stun, …ect) Let the condition damage scale with the debuff control you (as the attacking player) have up on the target. The more control you have in place, the more damage you do. And instead of Precision for a secondary stat (Currently we have power being turned into condition stat) we should have a special secondary stat for condition builds. My Idea on this at the end.

Since Conditions cannot crit, we should look at what conditions actually do. They are small hits that are rapid (Bleeds pop every .7 of a second, Burning is about every 1.2 seconds, Confusion is based on targets skill use. So once every 2-5 seconds…depending on target). And they do not scale well. If you have multiple bleeders attacking the same target, then they are fighting for damage done.

What about a buff that you get for reaching max bleeds, or max time on Burning, max Confusion Stacks. So that when you hit max stacks, the next condition application does the total damage of your condition x25 + 5%(for the missing Crit on Condition Attacks). And its only based on your current target, when you swap targets the buff resets to 0. And while you are building the buff(Max is 25, and resets to 0 at 25), your Debuffs get a boost (Maybe more Time on the target for movement impairment, double stacks for Confusion, Chance for attack to fail due to intense burning….ect).

really, with this idea we can go anywhere.

But this is also why I have been thinking that for condition ‘power’ builds we need something like Precision. Since Conditions cannot crit, Precision is almost useless for condition builds. But if we had a new system in place that benefited a support/control role that was teamed with the power of condition damage, why not have ‘Intensity’. The more intensity the more condition damage you at the 25th stack, and the more effective your debuffs are, and the faster you can climb to that 25th stack.

sure, this sound a bit over powered. But compared to a power class that can crit 15k every 2.8-3seconds (I have a thief that can do just that). I think its time something like this starts to be looked at seriously.

Condition builds dont burst. But there is no reason why we cannot have the same damage done in a 45second window that power builds can do. And since we dont burst, we add in control to our attacks.

Arenanet/NCSoft are in not any way required to support non-windows platforms. If they decide to build a Mac/Linux/Unix Client that’s different, and that would be a value-add to make ‘those’ customers happy.

If you play games on a Mac, or some Distro of Linux/Unix, you are expected to be able to troubleshoot/deal with bugs and other issues on your own (that’s how the open/GNU community operates).

Oozes are easy.

You need 2 PPL to kite 2 Oozes to the door, at the same time. You should have 2 Classes that can ‘Pull’ Mobs around (Guard/Mes are really good for this). And a good AOE Class with high Armor (Warrior, Knights/Solder-Elemenatalist) to take care of the Left side.

The Trick is to move the Lava guys away from the oozes, and dont kite the Oozes into the fire trails. If you do this right (Timed together) You should get it all done in one pass, 2 if you are unlucky)

This took my group all of 2mins to complete. Not hard at all.

Until they optimize the CPU usage for GW2, and throw more data at the GPU. The Driver support wont mean anything.

But on that note, I have noticed some performance increases here and there.

My GPU’s in all my systems are now between 68% and 90% (depending on players in the area), while my CPU’s spike at 80-85% tops now. But the CPU threading that GW2 uses needs to have work done on it still. In an 8 core system I can only get GW2 to actively use 6 Cores (Not talking HT). And if I change Zones, it will drop down to 4 Cores (Forcing affinity in task Manager, is the only way I can force GW2 to run on 6 of my 8 Cores).

Just wish we had itemized settings for Post Processing Effects. I absolutely hate the Green Halo’s on Character/NPC mouse overs, just HATE IT.

i5-3500 series, 8g DDR3 PC1600 Memory, ATI 7890HD OR Nvidia 670TX, 1x 128G-SSD, 1x 2TB HDD – The Rest would be up to you. Make sure you get an intel motherboard that supports the 1156 Socket (Or whatever socket the i5 gen3 is on now). That will be the best you can do for about 1k.

SSDs don’t have the same problem with head seeking as standard hard drives. That’s why 4K random reads are 100x faster than a hard drive.

All “sector/clusters” on an SSD are completely remappable, they aren’t “next” to one another or in any particular order. Defragging doesn’t guarantee that they will be when it’s done, only that it looks that way on the file system level.

the issue I am talking about is not a file system issue. Its with how the data in the .dat file is handled. and no SSD can circumvent it. Even with how the SSDs handle sectors. A bad file configuration is still a bad file configuration.

Yes, and game still crashing. BSView show me probs with ntkrnlpa and Unknown Module

Id start with TDSSKiller and make sure your not running a root kit. As they tend to mask as drivers.

For a BSOD, supply the Stop Code and the affected system file. From there we can then tell you what exactly (or almost) caused the BSOD and how to fix it.

1. NOTHING – no system that currently exists, can play WvW in a full zerg on max settings and get high FPS (the current max FPS is 30, and thats with dives down into the teens -13-18).

2. If WvW is your only goal, stop. Its really not worth it.

I actually only play wvw about 20% of the time, but when I do, I’d like to be able to stream and have decent graphics/FPS.

Streaming while doing WvW and having expectations at good performance is going to be an issue where GW2 is concerned. Its just not possible, at all.

- case antec make good cases, I perfer cheap lightweight cases myself. newegg.com has a good selection of 19.99-29.99 cases to choose from
- power supply You want 650+Watts to start, coolermaster make good Power Supplies, I would easily put 80-100 bucks into a GOOD power supply, as this is the heart of any good build. A weak power supply will make the entire system suffer
- motherboard Get with the CPU manufacturers Chipset – IE Intel CPU = Intel Chipset on the motherboard, AMD=AMD…ect
- CPU has to match the Motherboard, You cannot fit an Intel CPU on an AMD motherboard
- (optional) non-standard CPU cooler Only valid if you plan to over clock
- RAM (recommend 8 GB min) Important – Buy them in pairs and make sure they are specced for Dual Mode and not single mode. So for 8G you would buy two 4GB DDR3 Modules
- Harddrive
- (optioonal) SSD (solid state disk — very fast hard drive, but also more expensive / GB)I would do 2 HDDs, One being kitten (128G MIN) and the other being a 2TB Hard disk drive for loading Media files
- graphics card
- DVD drive (or Blu-Ray) This depends on movies, Most software is downloaded now or loaded from USB thumbdrives
- (optional) sound card (almost all mobo’s have adequate sound so unless you’re a real audiophile, it’ll be good enough) – the Onboard Audio is perfect on most any Motherboard now

If you dont have a good gaming PC, then by all means build one. But dont do it cause GW2 sucks on your current system. News flash GW2 sucks on every system right now. Even if you put 2500 into a top of the line i7 build, your FPS is still going to suck on WvW.
