Are you using the same profile on windows to log into both accounts or do you both have different windows profiles? as for different accounts on the same machine having different performance issues, how exactly are you launching her game? Do you use a direct gw2.exe launcher with stored Login info? or are you launching through the launcher where you manually enter your username/password?

Do you have both the 32bit and 64bit game clients installed? If so are you sure you both are using the same Game client? If you only have the 32bit client, download the 64bit client and see if that helps.

New PC and the GPU

the A10 integrated GPUs perform close to an R7 250. If the CPU is running as expected you should be pushing 40-60FPS on medium-high settings at 1080p with your setup. Thats with character limit settings to Low or Lowest though as the CPU still does not have the power to push all the vertex work that this game requires.

For what its worth, a i5-4570 with an Intel HD4600 can push 50-60FPS on medium at 1080p, and thats with out a dedicated GPU. So really, the AMD side of things for their APUs are not that great anymore. If you add in the Iris Pro line (GTE3 GTE4) such as the 5675c (HD6200) AMD no longer holds a candle other then in price a lone.

With Zen coming out, Intel releasing Iris Pro (GTE4) SKU’s for Skylake boards later this year, and Pascal/Polaris GPUs being released in 1-3 months from now, i would just hold out on buying anything and wait.

Proposal regarding Core Classes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

splitting the Core off into its own Elite could make for some interesting ideas. For one, you could go 3 ways, Core Elite, HoT Elite, or a mix on both. But then comes the power creep here.

It would be so much work for Anet to get this done though. and they would have to add 1 new Trait Line to every class too to make it balanced around what is currently there or rework the traits entirely from the ground up for the core classes.

But I do like the idea, and I think it would add some separation between Core and elite players. Instead of what we have right now.

New Weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ikereid.4637

We need new weapons, one example is the 1h Mesmer ranged option being always lack luster compared to other classes. Scepter does not cut it.

While I do like what the 19th patch brought (should have been like this since the start of HoT!!!), if they do not add new weapons to make things more interesting and to fix a few selection holes that some classes have, they will have to come up with something interesting to compensate. It would be quicker and easier for them to drop in a few new weapons and skills then to come up with something entirely new (like cross class Kits and such), and the balancing around such.

If they do not want to create a new array of weapon choices, then they should just port a couple more weapon choices to other classes again, like they did with Specs. But make it part of the baseline class.

What they should do is just enable HoT builds in sPVP for all accounts. Problem solved.

Since sPVP is their eSport mode, they should be doing this anyway.

The rest of the game is fine with HoT enabled accounts vs ones that are not.

yea thats right, we begged for SAB for 2+ years. They denied us for that time. HoT has split the playerbase so for Anet SAB is a band aid to subdue until LS3 starts to trickles in. And now we got players that are willing to pay to gain permanent access to SAB.

Good job Anet….you make me sooo proud.

Legendary weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think SAB will just be a momentary distraction. After the initial hype settles, and especially after SAB has gone away for another indefinite period of time, the community is not going to let go of the fact that the most prominent items on the already short list of endgame goals just got canned.

Except you can still make creating a Legendary an endgame goal so whatever the fact is that the community isn’t letting go of, it’s not that one.

Yeah, we can still make legendary weapons that have already been available for over 3 years. Weapons we’ve had 3 years to work toward, and have been acquiring for 3 years. For a lot of players, those aren’t goals anymore because we have everything we want out of the old set of legendaries.

An MMO isn’t going to last forever on a small set of endgame goals. As time goes by, people will accomplish those goals and new ones need to be added. HoT was sold to us under the premise that it was going to do that.

I don’t know about you but I think making 20ish Legendary weapons is a large goal itself, and not the only endgame goal that exists … so the idea that GW2 is going to come crashing down on people because ‘nothing to do endgame" isn’t really a sensible one.

first 3 years there wasn’t an end game. year 4, Collections are the end game and the game is still going semi-strong.

So you just might be right :-)

Honestly I think the user base should be complaining about the content release schedule instead of one offs like Legendary weapons. We knew going in that HoT was a hacked together expansion due to how they released previews about it. I am not surprised stuff that was to be included was dropped.

What I AM surprised about is the lack of fresh content. we waited from Jan3rd 2015 until Oct 2015 for what HoT brought to the table. We played it and got what we wanted out of it. Many were disappointed (myself included) so now we are waiting on the next release (LS3?!). Are we going to be waiting until Oct 2016 for the next batch release like we did in 2015?

That is what everyone should be focusing on here.

Anet has just one more chance to pull me back in, and that’s with LS3 and the surrounding content. If they flop (and my guess is they will, as they now have a track record here) I will just walk away.

As it is right now, Ill log in once a week (at best) to do Teq for fun and a couple FOTM40 runs. But that’s all I can muster with this game anymore. For me HOT related content is a flop, compared to the core content of the game. Aside from the new Class and the Elite specs, I did not get my money’s worth out of HoT.

I consider LS3 to be part of HoT (lets call it a delayed release). And if they cannot deliver solid content, that’s it I’m done.

It’s all about business, and now its time to put your words to work Mike O’Brien. The clock is ticking.

M2 SSD

i don’t see any reason to use a M2 drive unless you really want the M2 form factor .. small pc . tablet .. etc ..

because 2 x SSD 250gb in RAID 0 ( 5xx gb ) is a lot cheaper than a single M.2 512 and you will get similar performance …

i have M.2 slot in my motherboard and i can’t justify to buy a M.2 drive while my 2 old Crucial M4 SSD in RAID 0 allow me to get above 1Gb/s read speed. Where i live , two samsung 850 evo 250gb drives is 100$ cheaper than a single 950 512gb.

M.2 is nice when you get a new computer or if you upgrading from a old HD .. if you already have a Solid state drive … it a waste of money.

On a 9 series system your M.2 slot is limited to about 1.8GB/s in speed due to DMI 2.0, on a 10 series system (skylake+) your M.2 is going to see 3.5GB/s+, due to DMI 3.0.

No 2 SSDs in raid0 can touch M.2 on the 10 series, and very few (950pro being one of them) will see M.2 speeds on the 9 series.

That 100USD you spend on the m.2 makes a huge difference in performance.

Legendary items are convenience store items that share BiS status along side Ascended items.

Aside from stat swapping on the fly (pretty cool, but not worth the investment IMHO) and the particle effects (some are so over done it cheapens the skin) You get nothing else from the legendary other then ‘Awww cool where did ya get that BRO?!’ from Noob players.

Raids need to be more then just about getting Legendary Armor and Gold for the harassment and annoyances you gotta go through for the content.

personally i think we could use a buff to stab, some other classes besides guardian need to be able to supply it.

Guard, Mesmer, Ele, and Necro all can give other players stability.

Necro can give other players Stab since when? Necro can barely give itself Stab and never more than one stack for a second or three, with the exception of Reaper’s CttB.

1 stack for 1s from Well of Power. I am not sure that counts for anything

Boon duration% and yes it counts as Necro gives it to other players. Even if the default is 1s.

I can’t speak for WvW since I don’t play it anymore – but PvP-wise it’s added a bit more counterplay.

Before you could only tackle a stability player if you had boon rips – right now with enough coordination and focus you can just punch through it.

Before you only had that issue if your team wasnt setup correctly, or someone on your team was not setup for Boon Rip.

The change was to fix it to allow for more dynamic playstyles in PVP.

in PvE stability is the same as before the change, fear and CC breaks. For PVP, IMHO, its pretty useless now. You pop it for the same reasons for PvE, to stun break/CC break.

WvW is where its a huge train wreck. But really, WvW is pretty much dead now anyway so changing stability back to a duration isn’t going to fix this cluster ****.

also, I feel that stability over all is boring as a boon. It needs to be more interesting then just an anti-CC ‘easy button’. Back before the change you could find warriors with max stability duration and just rip it away and burn them to the ground. Where is the fun in that?

If its an M that means its a dual core with HT and that’s going to bottle neck you down unless you drop your character limit settings to Medium or low. On high/highest is just kills those dual core CPUs for FPS compared to the quad core CPUs.

for the engine to support more cores/threads is going to require a rewrite. Maybe by the next expansion they will induce a beta of a new engine, but nothing production ready. as it takes a long long time to build a API engine and then to get that engine adapted to the core application. Its not an easy undertaking, BUT it is doable with funding and personnel+time.

Its just very low on Anets bucket list. as there is so much more that needs to be dealt with before an engine is going to really make a huge difference.

HoT needs to be Buffed

The ones who say HoT is easy are the ones who are actually playing with others. HoT is solable to a point, I know as i did all the maps (minus the Meta and Champs) on my Mesmer and Necro alone. And its not easy, takes a long time, but it IS interesting…the first few times you do it.

to the comments ‘Why play an MMO solo’, because solo play is fun too. And there isnt always a group availble, so sometimes you have to resort to playing alone. Does this mean all content needs to be solable? no. But there is a lot of content that needs to be toned down, specifically areas that have 20+ Mobs where it just doesn’t make sense to have that kinda setup.

But I think the main issue with HoT, its not like the Classic core of the game at all. Just about every aspect of HoT is completely different. Its like a whole other type of game.

So mostly I play alone or with random groups, and I know it’s an mmo, but do you think that gw2 is moving away from the possibility of being able to get everything in the game playing solo?

in reality no one is playing this entire game solo. There are moments when you might be alone, but if you look around there are other players there, doing the same thing you are, but you may not be grouped with. Just cause you are not in a group does not mean you are playing solo.

The only content that requires group play;

World bosses and meta Events (I would love to see someone solo these)
Dungeons/FOTM
Raids
sPvP (you are auto grouped here)

Ascended is needed for FoTM agony resists. Ascended Weapons and jewelry are highly recommended for Raids.

If you dont have ascended anything, save the laurels for your Neck and Accessories, run FoTM for Rings (buyable via FOTM currency) and a chance of Weapon, Armor, and Ring drops. And do Tequatl for your weapon crate chance.

And then do any of the Mystic Forge combines for your Acended Back item (68G~ for Kross on Kross)

And you will obtain ascended.

If its not the stats you want, reroll the weapons and/or armor in the mystic forge for 8-12g a pop.

its not that hard. just takes time.

….or spend the 1k to craft it.

IMHO, The current state of the game is only really ‘bad’ if you only consider HoT based content. And by bad I mean expectations that were set by Anet that were just not delivered. But Hot is what HoT is. It does not make the core game any less fun then it was before HoT was delivered.

game 1-79 is still the same and still very fun. Lots of things to do, lots of ways to play. And you can do it such a way that you never repeat the same thing more then 3-4 times, thats how big the core game truly is.

Game as a fresh 80 can be a lot of fun too. You can buy yourself a nice rare set on the TP and then run Dungeons for badges/drops to upgrade your gear, and then use that as a ’wall’’ to progress into FOTM. All the while hitting Boss events like Teq, Shatterer, Jormag, …ect for additional chances at gear upgrades to add to your ‘progression’

or you can just save gold and buy it all on the TP

Game as a geared/older 80 is where it becomes foggy IMHO. Once you blow through HoTs content (Personal story, the 2 active Meta maps a handful of times, and run through all the Hero Points to unlock your Specs) All thats left in HoT is DS/AB metas and RAIDs, aside from running HP runs for newer players if your into that kinda thing.

But here is the other half of that, if you buy the game…you get HoT anyway, even if you are only after the core game. So it doesn’t really matter.

The core game still has a lot to deliver compared to HoT and that ALONE makes it worth it to the new player.

Looks like you are running windows10? I know Nvidia and win10 have driver issues due to MS pushing out updates how they do. If you hop over to the tech forum there are posts on how to solve that with Nvidia. I’ll bet its a driver level issue with your GPU.

Oh really now?!?! I never played GW2 with this machine while I had windows 7 still. I need to run to a couple stores, will try in 30 minutes or so.

yea, For windows 10+ Microsoft is updating every aspect of the system now, even drivers, unless you tell windows update not to. And the latest Nvidia drivers and windows 10 are having a lot of issues.

The quick and dirty fix is to disable Windows Update from pulling down drivers, use DDU to wipe out Nvidias Drivers (not the Intels if you are using that HD4600), and then manually download the LAST version of Nvidias drivers. As many are having luck going that around (across many many games, not just GW2).

But depending on your 980Ti’s Bios version you may need to try different Driver versions until the issue is either fixed, or an acceptable balance for ya.

P.S. this is why i run AMD gpus, never run into these issues :-)

what resolution are you playing at?

1920×1080

Download a program called GPU-Z, put GW2 into windowed mode -Fullscreen, and then run GPU-Z while GW2 is running and make sure that the Bus is 16x version 3 @ 16x version 3. If it is then pop over to the sensor tab and make sure your GPU Clock/Memory are running at the specific clocks.

Download a program called CoreTemp and make sure your CPU is not overheating (shouldn’t be above 80c’s with a stock intel cooler, 100c it will throttle), and make sure its clocked correctly (4.2-4.3ghz with Turbo enabled, 4.4ghz on a single core at times. If its running at 800mhz -1.7ghz or so then you are throttling and that will affect performance.

If you look at my sig, you’ll see I have a pretty similar setup. I run at 2560×1600 though and Ill get 120FPS+ on max settings in open world, 35-40FPS during Boss events, and split the difference for FoTM/Dungs. But just being near 60 Players (mind you out of combat) doesn’t drop me below 60~ FPS.

There is something wrong when i’ve spent almost 3 years enjoying “old” tyria content before getting bored and enjoying 4 weeks of HoT before getting bored AND i didn’t rush anything…

I was there and did whatever there was to do and i won’t force myself to grind 100 times the same event to get some map-dosh to buy some useless stuff just to show-off.
I haven’t done this in GW2 Tyria and won’t do it in GW2 HoT – therefore there is nothing for me left in HoT i guess, this explains why i only login 2-3 times per week to…

I don’t know why im still logging in… Maybe hoping in vain that something will be added…

There are probably many people doing same thing as me until they realize its time to let go and move to something new.

(SAB(( )

You couldn’t have said it better. I am in the same boat. 3 years in old content, bored rarely. HoT comes around and bored after 2 months? And the kicker is, I’m also now starting to get bored of the core game now too…maybe that’s just my disappointment from HoT.

If this game was a subscription based game, I would have canceled my Sub 3-4 weeks ago…just sayin….

I do want to point out that this is an opinion as many others felt otherwise.

As far as population numbers go, this happens after every expansion around this time regardless as to whether it were successful or not.

yup its an opinion, but one I stand by.

No, they will first find a way to sell the QoL as Gem store items, then when those fail/flop they will finally patch them into the game.

People are finding other, more fun, things to do.

HoT was a complete disaster by many of our standards and, IMHO, the cost of HoT was not worth the content Anet delivered on the Launch of HoT.

They are focusing to much on Esports (Class nerf/balancing), and the Gemstore(Gliders? Not one is obtainable in game normally).

Where is LS3?
Where are the rest of the legendaries?
Where are the rest of the Raids? (what about the Raid balancing??!!)
Where is the rest of what HoT promised us?

Anet has let many of us down (myself included) and that’s a line of trust that is going to be very hard to buy back from us. Similar stuff happened back when SOE was in control of Everquest and many players left and never came back(My self included too). The ONLY thing that GW2 has going for it is the no subscription aspect, as once you buy it you are ‘stuck’ with it. So there is no ‘quiting’ persay.

But I will probably never buy another expansion. Especially if its like another HoT delivery.

Here is what I do not get, Quickness affects everyone and has a 50% buff to it, alacrity affects everyone and had a 66% buff to everyone then got it dropped to 33%.

If its such a balance issue why didnt we see a quickness nerf too since they basically do the same thing (affect the speed of which we can activate skills with, which also enhance our ability to spam skills that are on a shorter cooldown).

All things aside, that is what i want to know most.

Waiting for raids is making the game boring

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

Nowadays, at the start of each week, I just don’t feel like doing anything at all, in case I miss a raid from my guild or LFG. Eventually, it’s making the game boring.

I think the best advice I could offer is to simply not wait. If your guild does raids encourage them to stick to a schedule (that’s what my guild does). If you pub try to gather as many friends as you can in a raid squad before pubbing and then pick up the stragglers from the LFG. The only time it’s really slow going is if you refuse to organize the raid yourself and insist on sitting on the LFG waiting alone instead of getting together your friends to get it started.

I really think the problem posed in the thread’s title is a problem caused by your own actions. Naturally I think a raid LFG section could help get these people in the same area, but it’s not going to suddenly fill raid squads quicker.

You have no idea just how wrong you are. When WoW created LFR low level raids and mid range raids were filled constantly. As a Main Tank that would Pug 90% of the time, as soon as I found a suitable healer for my 10man runs, threw up LFR and the raid was filled in less then 5 mins.

the same thing will happen with GW2. All it takes is those 2 well experienced players that do not mind carrying new players along and train them. But as it is, its nearly impossible to form a Pug in LFG with out a proper LFR section. To much other stuff going on that floods the LFG windows.

But that brings us to the more important issue. How the raids start at the elite hardwall, and there is no progression from doable, to trickey, to harder, to hardest as you progress deeper into the raid. Like it should be.

So really, until that is fixed, LFR wont really fix the root issue that is facing raids right now.

yes yes your apparent dislike of HOT is fascinating, but I was talking about dungeons. The new players base have not lived in a vacuum I suspect and are quite cfapable of player 3 year old dungeons. since I was suggesting dungeons could be harder which you took umbrage to this implies you think dungeons are either perfect or too hard. mmhmm.

And we are talking about raids, not dungeons or FOTM. stop derailing the thread.

dungeons are simplistic, they need to be more challenging, not the opposite, people get better over time not worse.

yes, players do get better over time. But you know what? Everyone has to start at 0. The new player base that F2P brought and HoT is bringing in still should not have to suffer through the BS that this is all about.

The Raid wings could be like fractals.

The current difficulty could be considered level 1. After more than half of your group has completed level 1, level 2 becomes available with shorter timers, hard hits, higher boss health, etc. and greater rewards.

Simple number tweaking rather than creating more content will give everyone a chance and the elite their challenge.

But that is not what the ‘elite’ want. The Elite want content that only the elite can do. And anet is spoon feeding that to them, screwing the rest of the player base.

Raids need/needed progression. Currently raids are ‘hardwalled’ from the get go with no line of progression beneath that.

In WoW you had low level raids, medium level, hard level, then hardcore (heroic 25mans). Granted most of that was tied in with a gear treadmill.

In all honesty there is no reason Anet cannot adopt a similar system with what we currently have for raids.

I think the first wing should be doable by the ENTIRE PLAYER BASE. This gives everyone a chance for a Ascended Farm that is not FoTM, TT/Teq, or Crafting($$$). Then the 2nd Boss should be the DPS Test. 3rd boss should be the organization test, and then the rest of them should be where Raids get hard.

Not.how.it.is.right.now.

Could we get DX12 with the next expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

How many people are leaving (or likely to leave) the game due to lack of Dx12 support? How many won’t buy it?

And then compare that to how many people are leaving (or likely to leave or unwilling to buy) the game due to other factors, including LS3, daily routine, event timers, gates & caps, difficulty (or lack thereof), perceived lack of ‘decent’ drops, etc.

It’s clear the OP is more interested in how the game looks than how it plays. I’m confident, however, that the vast majority of players prefer ANet to focus on gameplay.

You missed the point.

He is complaining about the game performance and believed that dx12 will greatly improve the performance.

He then compare gw2 to a game with better graphic + performance. He then ask why a game has better graphic has a way better performance than gw2.

All in all, if you read the previous posts, you will know that the problem lies with how they design the engine and how the engine is not maximizing the use of the computer’s resources.

A good game performance will enhance the gameplay.

And you missed my point: everyone agrees that better performance makes for better gameplay. But more ‘stuff’ in the game also makes for better gameplay. The question is: to what should ANet devote its limited resources? To improving the game engine so that it runs more smoothly? Or to working on things that people enjoy doing in the game?

I would argue that once a game reaches a certain level of performance, any mechanical improvements end up being less important to the vast majority of players than giving players more game to play (including QoL changes so increase the ratio of time playing vs inventory|gear management). Of course, none of us (including myself) have access to relevant metrics that would answer the question, so I might very well be wrong.

tl;dr it’s moot whether this is about Dx12 or the game engine, unless performance improvements will make a huge difference in how many people play (and buy) the game.

I will say that HoT is pushing the boundaries of the Games Engine. They are starting to push to much data through the games engine with all the other stuff they are doing now (Layered larger Zones, at a very min).

Eventually the Games engine is just going to go ‘Pop’ and that will be that.

And I think its not too far off if they continue with content that is similar to HoT.

The issue with the engine is that its control/master is single threaded. And they are putting more down that pipe then it can handle. Especially proven in the newer HoT zones.

Your counter to Conditions is a combo of high Vitality and healing Power + Regen.

The idea is to stack high Health Pools so that you can outlive a Condi Burst, Cleanse, and react. Since Cleanse is rather limited on most classes (Except Ele and Guard) Regen is a stop gap for everyone else. Also the Regen helps with classes that just reapply condi after condi.

its one of the reasons I would like to see the following stat combos on Armor.

Power/Condi
Healing Point
Precision
Toughness/Vitality
