How much is not allocated on the SSD? I suggest 10% if you are currently fully allocated.

If you click on the ssd magician picture you’ll see that over 50% of the ssd is free.

That does not address Allocation, just % used in your NTFS volume. Your drive is 119GB, you should de-allocate 9.89GB from the drive so that it can better perform management tasks and duties.

Edit attached a image of my 480G SSD and how its allocated under disk management.

Your issue starts at LVCM, whatever Carrier, that is looks to be your ISP?
Level3 has issues, but the screenshot in your OP shows the Lag starting BEFORE level3.

What you NEED to do is call your ISP, supply them Traceroutes to their Tier3 support line, and ask if they know who LVCM is and if they have a link partner agreement with them.

Ask them the same thing think about Level3.

They will take it from there.

Ok looks like TRIM or Garbage collection is working as the Writes are 50% of what your reads are. This will put load on the SSD and reduce over all performance until the tasks are complete.

I would download the Samsung SSD tool and see if it reports the current status of what the Drive is doing for maintenance.

Lol okay, how would this cause my game load slow again? Especially since it only happens before the character select & I see no hdd activity what so ever during this extended load time? (I have/had the ssd magician installed, it was one of the first thing I did after win7 install..)

It will load a CMD window asking how many clients to load. Then you need to manually enter your usernames and passwords into both launcher windows.

Reinstalled it overnight, did not help. (used the old gw2 folder before)

Make sure your SSD is working correctly. Download CrystalDiskInfo and make sure its still healthy.

Did you do a COMPLETE reinstall of windows or just GW2?

And when you installed the new hardware, was the OS reinstalled or did you just leave it as is and let windows auto reconfig itself.

Nothing AMD has can touch Intel in performance for GW2. Even a G3220 (Dual core) will beat a FX8350 in FPS.

If you are on a budget your best bet is to use a site like PCPartpicker.com to build your system and then either buy the parts and do the build yourself or find a site that can build a desktop using the same parts.

For a bottom line Build I would say look for a decent H97M or Z97M Motherboard and a G3258 to start. For the GPU, GTX750 or GTX750Ti fits nearly perfect in that price the price range for GPUs right now. If you can go used then look for an r9 270, as it will be faster then the GTX750ti and you can find them on amazon for 97USD~.

But dont just buy a ready made system. They are nearly all underspecced for the price.

This is why HoT should include a baseline Core license for a friend. Combining all releases into that 59.99 was just a bad business move. It should have been, Buy HoT for an existing account and Gift a Core Game to a friend. Put on 60days of restrictions and call it done.

but..No, that didn’t happen.

HoT is near release, the game is going to be 59.99 for the next 2 years from Anet. You MIGHT be lucky to find a HoT key, or even a core game key, on sale someplace and try your luck there. But we wont see another 9.99 sale for a long time.

Free2Play was the answer to it, even though its rediculas IMHO.

It’s 50 dollars, or $49.99, if you will. There are copies of core GW2 in retail stores, it seems, as there a some threads by posters asking if they can upgrade their Play4Free accounts with them.

yea, 49.99. But still. Directly from Anet the current price line up is what to expect for a while. We may get lucky with the older retail boxes, and online key deals from 3rd party. But thats about it.

I really take my time before I post to be sure that I’m not aggressive against other users and right now I quite confuse to be honest. But your answer kinda give me an explanation, and probably not the one you expected.

Sucks that is the way you want to go with a few bad eggs on the forums. But each to our own.

I solo’d the entire LS2 on my mesmer, Duo’d on my Guard, and did a 5man start to finish with my Ele. I can say that running Solo is harder for some, but easier for a lot of the parts as you dont have to worry about party members dying and rezing them. If you do run Duo one player should ‘tank’ up and the other go near line berserker and have the ‘Tank’ run a support build for rezzing. I found this to work best when I was doing the LS on my Guard (Tanky support Healing build, VERY effective for all of the chapters)

The Dragon at the Pale Tree and end of the LS2 story were the hardest parts to solo. the Pale Tree Dragon was touch and go, but if you watch the ground and dodge when you need to its not all that bad. The End chapter’s dragon was a huge PITA. I had to die and rez 6 times on my mesmer. Ended up killing the dragon with 100% broken armor (from 30% HP down to dead). Was a amusing experience I will not run through again.

There are many ways to play this game. You just need to try them all until you find out what works for you.

Removal of Ascended Stat Swap

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

With the RNG behind weapon crates, and the RARE RNG behind even getting an Armor Crate. We (The Players) need this transformation Recipe. I cannot count the number of Ascended drops that were NO GOOD for any of my builds on my characters that went to waste before they did the Mystic Forge combine change. Now that we can change the stats, for 19g~ on average mind you, all Ascended now has equal value in the game. And it gives greater reward for doing Teq and TT then before.

But let me guess OP, your just mad cause now Acended can change stats just like your Legendary weapons? Cause honestly, I see no other reason to even complain about this change….

1. it makes world bosses that drop Ascended more rewarding – Win
2. Ascended boxes that drop with stats you do not want/need are no longer a wasted drop – Win
3. Economy stimulation for those that craft Inscriptions and Farm Globs – Win

Sorry, but OP you have nothing to really complain about here.

Its going to be running 1.1 at 4x, cause that 4x slot is probably not programmed for a GPU. Your Motherboard has to have DMI linking between PCIE Slots and support CF or SLI for all the slots to properly work with GPUs.

MOST Motherboards that have a 16x and a 4x run the 4x against the DMI PCIE link in the chipset and not from the CPU. the 16x is generally all CPU Lanes. That is probably also a big root cause to your issue here too.

The best solution is to replace the motherboard with a new one, or reach out to the motherboards maker and see if a warranty replacement is possible. As long as the LGA pins are not bent, anything else that breaks on the motherboard is fair game for a defect replacement. Most MB’s have a 2-3 year warranty replacement time frame.

As for why the 660Ti gives higher performance is because your 660Ti is SOOOO SLOW compared to the 980Ti that your CPU is now the sole bottle neck in the system. So now your GPU linked at 4x v1.1 has to wait for the CPU instructions to keep up, where at before the CPU and 660Ti linked at x4 v1.1 were probably on par with each other.

Also do you OC your 2500K? If not, I highly suggest looking into it. It will make that 980Ti scream.

But yea, get a new motherboard that 2500K will ‘love you long time’ for it.

Is the video card inserted into the PCIE X16 slot, the slot closest to the CPU. This is a very common mistake made when building a system. Also download and install CPUZ and run it while you run the game in windowed mode this will tell if the wideo card is running at the correct speed it should be running on PCIE X16 anything less and that’s your issue.

HD530 is integrated into the 6700K, its not an addon card. the OP ordered a GTX750 and does not have it yet.

I installed the latest driver manually. 10.18.15.4279. Still the same problem. I can actually see 1-2 fps in the option menu.

I knew integrated graphics is bad, but never knew this bad!

I cant speak much for the HD530 cause I do not have one, but I do have a HD4600 on my 4790K and had one on a 4670K I gave to my brother. You should be getting 30FPS~ at 1080p on medium to low settings.

I would go through the BIOS settings and make sure the IGP settings are all correct. Granted you have a new GPU on its way (750?) but with Intel Sync and other features you might want to throw up the HD530 as a second GPU for side loaded decoding so that you do not use the GTX750 to save on power and such. Just a thought.

yea the ping/traces are clean. Nice low response down to the servers.

I do not have Skylake to test with, but I did test with a HD4600 on an i5-4670K when I was rebuilding a system for my brother to take over (he supplied a GTX570 later). I pulled down the drivers from Intel that was released in August and was getting 40FPS at 1366×768 on medium settings. I would suggest looking at the drivers available for the HD530 and see if there is a driver that is a bit older and released around august (12th I think) and see about running that.

Now if you are on Windows10 this is going to bring up 2 big/huge issues.

Win10 will auto download and update your device drivers unless you tell it not to. so if you run old drivers, windows will update them anyway.

Win10 takes 2hours to FULLY update your system. Until then, gaming is a no no as it can BSOD your system and cause driver install issues. When you first Install/update to win10 I HIGHLY suggest leaving it sit for 2 hours, then do a full reboot and then run your games. That 2hours is downloading the updates over a 50Mb/s connection, so it might be longer if your download speeds are slower. But out of 5 Win10 machines, and 8 installs (a couple were done twice lol) that is how it was on EVERY install once I figured out the Video driver issues i was first having.

Interesting point of view.

Fact is that from a customer point of view ATI drivers are second class. So ArenaNet need to sort out compatibility for the most common drivers on the planet. Or tell everyone that they are not able to support NVidia and go to AMD. Wonder how that will do down?

There is no half way house. I paid for GW2. It should work 100% reliably on NVidia. I am not that intersted in why ArenaNet programmers and project managers are totally useless. I just care that GW2, that I have paid for, regularly crashes on my NVidia recent card. It matter not whether NVidia is are fault or Arenanet. Because Wow works just fine and has for years. Like about 7 years. Max Dungeons. Max Players.

But Arenanet. Can not keep get its Panties above its ankles.

Reason. Poor project management. Poor implementation. Poor programming. Poor, well non existent QA.

Sort of reminds me, so may years ago, of Mythic [DAOC] and it was a great game and just like Arenanet instead of solving problems blamed customers. And the result?

Nope. IF ARENANET read these forums then they need to start to take note. Starting with the latest patch is a heap of crap. Followed up by “Why dont you simply get your code to play nice with the most common drivers on the Planet”

Pretty simple stuff.

HH

Anet has QA testing, its just not the best it could be. This has been shown with a few select releases over the years. But they DO get around to fixing stability issues when they are identifiable.

Lets take that nasty UI FPS hit bug from a few months back. They released that FoV change, then fixed something with it which caused the UI to take a 25fps performance hit when enabled.

Took them 2-3 weeks to figure it out and fix it. But they did fix it.

Same goes with countless other issues that have creeped up over the years. the issue here is their limited hardware libary to test against. My guess is they have a few Haswell Dev machines, a couple IVy and many Sandy bridge, and maybe 2-3 of each series of GPUs from Nvidia and AMD from release schedules (CGN1.0 1.1 and 1.2 for AMD, Maxwell and older from Nvidia) so they can benchmark and do inhouse testing when it fits the schedule and the content release.

Issue here is, they are not going to be able to test for every hardware setup scenario out there. Such as 4way CF/SLI setups, running custom drivers (CE), Hacked down version of windows, Or systems that do not have proper power supplies for these newer GPUs being released (I see this one alot hitting support groups).

So you can point fingers at Anet and DX9 coding all you want, but the fact on that is they are doing a good job there. Every machine I have built, rebuilt, tested GW2 on has ran the game with 0 issues with BSOD or CTD. Performance issues is a differnt issue and different topic. But the game IS stable.

If its not stable for you, its because of your system or something running on your system.

Issue is not Nvidia’s drivers, its probably the hardware in that aged laptop. Given the specs I am going to guess that the OP has an HP DV6 or DV7 series laptop. Those are known to have thermal issues with BGA soldering on the Graphical chipets. Affects both Nvidia and AMD/ATI cards. The only fix is a new motherboard.

But since the OP did not state what Laptop they actually have, lets say the TIM/Thermal Paste has dried up, Fans are clogged with Dust, and maybe the Fan isnt spinning at the desired RPM’s anymore. The BSOD would be thermal related on those cases. Only fix is to tear into the laptop and clean it completely up and replace the thermal paste. I suggest IC7 series Paste, its not conductive and doesnt dry up for about 3 years in bad thermal areas (Like the desert).

If the drivers were really the issue, then nearly everyone would be having BOSD crashes, and that is not the case.

Sounds more like a lag issue then a graphical one.

When your in game, type /ip and hit enter. Open Command Prompt and type out

Ping (IP address)
Tracert (IP Address)

and then post the results here.

Since the Asus Hero comes with an Intel NIC and that gameguard you might need to tweak the gaming settings in the suite to disable QoS. For the Killer E2200 Nics you have to do this or most LAN/MMO games lag out and have issues.

Windows 10, FPS

Its mostly either NVidia related, especially under Win10 … or contact problems
or whatever that the GPU doesn’t run @x16.

Posting a picture with GPUz and CPUz while GW2 is running in the back often
helps to see the problem.

WOW, Thank You Beldin. I never would have guessed thermal creep.

Re-seating my Vidja card fixed it.

It’s funny that this was my only game that had the FPS issue from it though. And only after upgrading to WIN 10. But I guess that just goes to show how vastly different ways there are to address the video cards. either that or computer Voodoo, It’s A thing, I’ve seen it many times in my 20 years of working IT.

Its because of how Heavy CPU this game is. When the Link between the CPU and your GPU is less then 8x, for the primary GPU, the Bus I/O between the CPU and GPU really affects the Graphical Vector calls used with GW2.

You can see this by testing PCIE version 2 vs version 3 with Zergs. the higher PCIE bandwidth helps the game with low end performance metrics. Now with a properly geared system its like 5FPS at the low end (18FPS vs 24FPS) but it does smooth out performance over all.

I would LOVE to see DX12 brought to GW2, esp with the new Zone in HoT…Very bad performance compared to the current game, but it will not happen this release.

Sounds like the GTX770 is probably linked at less then 8x/16x PCIE. Download GPU-Z and verify the Bus link speed. Also make sure the GPU is in the slot Closest to your CPU.

Also when you swapped the CPU/Motherboard did you migrate the OS or start from a fresh install?

Fix Black Lion Chests / BL Tickets

This is why I will not buy BLK’s from the Gem store for Gold or for Gems. The Junk we get from the daily login quests and the Junk we get from the Black Lion chests mixes up to much.

Really, what is the point to gamble on the BLK in its current form. It’s far worse then playing RNG against the Mystic Forge…

Patch Today: Key Farming Impacted

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

They first seriously limit Key farming with NPE by limiting when a character gains access to the BLK rewarded story step (You can WvW to the level in about 30mins~ with boosters and crap), and now they make it an account bound chest reward that resets once a week?!

Look, F’in anet, If you want to disable Key farming to boost your STUPID Gem sales just do that. Stop breaking areas of the game that have been intact and used by a wide range of players SINCE.THE.START of the game over 3 years ago.

I get it that you want those gem cash sales, i really do. But prohibiting the player base and punishing those by doing this crap, it just shows the direction you are taking finally here.

This is a good way to bury a good game by making worth while things completely unachievable.

As it is, 4k+ hours over 1114+ days on my account, i can recall 4 BLK drops from the world, 2 from instances, and 1 from a WvW boss. And out of those drops…1 scrap for a Black Lion Ticket. ONE. Countless garbage such as boosters. BLK’s are seriously worthless now unless you are dumping gold (87g+ for 1 key, mind you) in 50+ key purchases. I guess that fine for the super rich players, but many of us are not (I sit on about 760G right now, saving for a couple skins)

(And dont get me started on Precusor drops, I have had 2…so I’m luckier there, but BLK’s are near Precusor in rarity)

Unless you mix the BLK’s to be 1 in 100 chests dropped, you are doing NOTHING good here for the players, and its only to pad your own pockets.

Frustrated about Living world 2 40% off sale

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ikereid.4637

I wouldn’t be surprised if Living world season 2 would eventually become free like the base guild wars 2 game did. Living world season 2 is almost an integral chapter to the guild wars lore and the heart of thorns story wouldn’t make any sense if the player didn’t play living world season 2.

I’m actually surprised it wasn’t added into HoT, though I guess that would have caused even more uproar.

By all logic of the new release plans for GW2 + Expansions moving forward, HoT needs to include the base game + ALL Addons for the base game to date. That includes the LS2. I had assumed it was. Being a Vet that has the complete LS2 on my account, when I updated to HoT I did not verify this. But if this is how it is, LS2 being yet another purchase on top of the 59.99 HoT purchase, it really shows the direction Anet/NCsoft is going with this game…Sad really.

And if this is how it really is, I will not be upgrading ANY accounts missing any release from the base game to HoT. Ever.

That CPU is going to run at about 3ghz with full on turbo. 78c is what I would consider normal temps for that CPU.

If Heat is a serious issue for you (summer time and all) you can disable turbo by setting the max CPU performance to 90% in your selected power profile. This will make the CPU run at the base clock of 2.5ghz. But you will also lose FPS performance by doing this.

I suggest downloading HWInfo64 and opening the Sensors applet and see if you can force fan IO control (its a brown fan Icon at the bottom of the sensor window) and force your fans to 100% while gaming. As that would bring the CPU/GPU temps down considerably.

crashing because OOM every 20 minutes ..

Its more or less a case of definition if you will call that “run the game”

RAM isnt the issue, its the speed of the APU in that tablet.

I run GW2 just fine on low settings on a z3745 and 2GB of ram and no OOM crashes at all. 28FPS too!

The hard answer is no, it will not run. The E1 is a VERY low end AMD ‘atom’ like Processor and the integrated Graphics are on that processor are also equally low end.

If you did not buy this yet then good, dont. If you made the purchase you’re rather stuck.

Dear Forum readers!

Today i want to buy a notebook, but i afraid it will wont run GW2 with a fine, Hight or Ultra setup, can you guys help me about this?
This is my future nb:
ASUS X751M
- 4 GB Ram (DDR3 1330 MHz)
- Intel® Pentium® N3530 (4x 2.16 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache)
- NVIDIA GeForce 820M 2GB – 64bit
- OS: Windows 8.1 x64

It will run a game with a High-Ultra setup with 30-40 fps?
Or someone have a same or just lookslike setuped NB, and whats game settings + fps what you got with it?

Thanks for every response!

This is more of a tablet/netbook design. It uses an Atom Intel CPU and a VERY low end Nvidia GPU (830 is LOW end).

I am guessing this machine is going to cost about 400?

If that is your budget my suggestion is to get a used notebook from amazon or Ebay. Something like a Precision M4600 for a 15" or a Precision M6600 for a 17". They both can be rather highly equipped for about 400.

I put together a M4600 for 520 shipped, thats the laptop for 260~, a i7-2720QM(Quad core) for 80, and an upgraded GPU (R9 M270X) for 149. You can now find the M4600 for about 350~ with just the i7-MQ and a HD6770M, For Example.

This laptop gets 60FPS on high except Character Model limit to Low (kinda have to on most laptops now), and shadows to medium. Zergs are still 18-24FPS for places like Frozen Maw and 35fps during Teq.

Hard hitting mobs Am I doing this wrong?

seems the new mobs need to be controlled to be able to kill 2+ of them at a time. I run a mesmer interrupt build that seems to just face roll through normal mobs and most vets. Champs are a different story since you cant stun them.

I like the new content, the only classes I have issues with is ele, thief, and warrior due to cooldown issues. But thats totally L2P here.

I do think they need to tone down a few mobs here and there that seem to ‘rampage’ (1 hit doing 40% of your health forcing you to dodge+heal). But over all, this is going to be a learning experience for most of us.

I am sure Anet will adjust the content when its live and people whine about ‘I cant do this, i quit’… just like Teq lol

so enjoy truely challenging content while its there.

Win10 has issues with some programs that control hardware. I have Bricked a laptop by doing an in windows Bios update on Win10(HP DV6), Coretemp seems to lock up on some hardware configs (Z87-G45 with a 4670K) and MSI Afterburner bluescreens when overclocking a 295×2 and 280×. Where as on win7 none of this happened.

I think there is something in windows10 that forces conformity with the drivers/HW that is breaking these tools.

I would say for now, dont OC on win10 unless its done at the EFI/BIOS level. Just don’t do it with in win10 at all.

I am thinking you guys are not letting the OS sit after the upgrade, long enough.

I have done 6-7 fresh Installs of Win10, and it takes a LONG time for all the drivers to be downloaded and applied (this is always done via Windows Updates now).

On average it takes about 45mins on a 30Mb-Down connection to grab everything.
If you dont wait, then your FPS suffers as windows is not using the correct driver, and since the GPU is under load windows cant install the driver completely and you need to reboot.

Use Task manager, Advanced, Performance, to determine the network connectivity/activity to see if windows is still working on itself.

HoT is going to be bad on performance for a while. The new zone is vertical and the FoV is INSANE for what the current settings are. On a machine I get 80FPS on in the current zones, in the HoT Beta zone I am getting 35FPS looking into the distance.

I have bugged this with them but so far nothing back on it.

I also now have reason to believe the Character limit setting is messed up as the Low setting seems to have as many characters on screen as medium did, and Medium now has as many as High…ect.

As for your laptop, the best thing you can do is to list the system specs and we can make advice for ya. A streaming service might not be all that bad either, for GW2 I use Kainy though to my android devices and my windows tablet. So if you had a decent desktop you left at home you could render GW2 on that and play it across the internet using a streaming application.

It seems that something changed with the ‘low’ setting for character limits.

If I set lowest I can get 80-100 FPS, but only 5 other player models are displayed, on low I am seeing 35FPS and 24~ other player models displayed, On Medium 28FPS and 39~ player models….ect

This happens with an i7-2720QM // HD6970M and on a i7-2620QM // M270X

I believe that the current value for Low is what Medium used to be and this is causing performance issues with Laptops specifically.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

On an i5-2520m // HD6770M I have on lowest character limit settings I get 60FPS, on low 24fps…something just does not add up here.

Screenshots are from a TEQ fight prep looking at T1-3 (60~ players AFKing) from the water area. Just to put a little bit of perspective.

Hello all, i am looking for help in building a gaming pc.

I love this game but i cannot enjoy it how i would like with my current pc. (Im playing on a notebook and only get about 9-10 fps)

I would like to build a gaming pc to enjoy this game more, only idk what im doing when it comes to building computers.

If i could get some tips on what to buy in order to build one that woukd be awesome.

Also im looking to spend maybe $300-$400 (hopefully that is enough for a pc that can run gw2 well).

Honesty, this is your best bet

If the i5 is too costly then drop it down to a G3258.

Either way its under 500~ and perfectly doable.
