Selling them for 3silver~ is not bad, but it feels wasteful when you know they could be broken down.
The above dev statement might be of interest to you
.
yea, they said this in the past too and it has yet to happen. Rings are easy to come by so I dont have any ill feelings about selling them off to make bank space for the weapons I am getting from Teq :-)
If they do add in a system, that would be awesome. But I am not holding my breath. A way to deal with the crappy rings from FoTM/WoW/PvP chests/Drops has been asked for over the last year at least.

We saw playable footage of the game months ago and Anet seems more driven to tot this game around the game show circuit than actually releasing it.
We have a stress test coming up and in those notes they say many more are to come in the future for those who pre-ordered. This also means with there vertical slice of content and the fact that it wont be till mid July till they start that one could assume an august release is out too. Seeing how they use a Two week updating schedule and they seemed to imply many stress tests then one could also logically guess september is out.
When you get into October that’s the holiday season and no MMO’s has ever been stupid enough to release an expansion in the holiday buying season as it would just get overlooked and forgotten in the sea of new games being released back to back one after another until January when the season ends.
Hype is dead to be sure as other MMO’s don’t hold there expacs at the end of a carrot milking there consumer base. The other companies announce then release in a reasonable amount of time and pre-orders aren’t done multiple months in advance to further milk the base. The people who pre-ordered will get content and temporary content at that while the rest of us will no doubt get squat in return. No SaB, Bash, or Labrynth Cliffs as there putting all there effort into so called stress tests…
I’ll get the expac whenever it releases I suppose but probably not at launch as if the game isn’t released in 2016 then it will probably get released and instantly forgotten in the midst of the holiday buying season.
We just started Q3(which flows in summer) 8 days ago. We have until September until ‘summer’ is really done. So they have plenty of time to advise their release date and continue testing here.
There have been many expansions released over holidays in the past. I can remember buying WoTK (WoW) the week of Nov 13th, 15days before thanksgiving. That’s pretty close to a major Holiday season, yea?
My Prediction for HoT’s release is going to be at the end of Q3 or the middle of Q4(around November). They still have many reveals left to do, lots of testing (hell they gave Beta slots to all pre-orders), and probably still need to finish 20-25% of the content release and then Q/A and Polishing.

If you are doing FoTM then you are getting relics and greater relics which can be used to buy the rings/accessories you want.
Weapons/armor can now be converted in the mystic forge to whatever stat weight you want/need.
Your Amulet is a mere 35 laurels, and you must choose it.
And your Back item, either the infused cap from FoTM or you can build any of the Backpacks available with the stat you need (most are MF combines)
So, I really fail to see the issue here.
What I would LIKE to see is a way to salvage those useless rings into more Ascended mats. Selling them for 3silver~ is not bad, but it feels wasteful when you know they could be broken down.

The bigger issue in my opinion is how many weapon skins will be in the x-pac for our characters to go out and earn through game play. We are paying for a product that should include as many skins as the base game for the price we are paying. It won’t surprise me in the slightest if there is a lack of new weapon skins in the game or armor sets. It won’t surprise me if there aren’t any new kitten Cultural type sets that we can earn. It also won’t surprise me to see myriad options of these types of things on the gem shop on week #1 of release of HoT. Double dipping at its finest.
How many of those factions of which reputation you can grind through masteries are there…three? That’s it, you’ll get 3 new armor sets per armor class + new weapon skins for legendaries, maybe some new ascended stuff.
On HoT shipment, yes. But through the life of HoT they will release outfits(this needs to stop) select hero skins (weapons and masks), and probably a couple armor sets per armor class.
Even though we all paid 59.99 for HoT, they will still push looks through the gem store. Looks that have better effects, better color dying abilities (4 panes instead of 2 or 3), and match the genre better then what is released with the game. Has always been this way, will always be this way.

ESOL is a Buy 2 play game. Steam has it for 59.99. My only complaint so far is its nearly exactly like Skyrim, if Skyrim was an MMO rather then a single player game. And the Jumping Mechanic is horrible.
Tera has an auto attack, you just press and hold your main attack button (Mouse Left for default), then when the Chained skill prompt pops up hit space bar for more interesting attacks. There is no passive auto attack (Like GW2 currently has, which can be disabled). Tera uses the dodge/positioning concept that GW2 uses. But there is no inherent dodge(V, or double tap WASD), its skill based. Also Tera has tanks and healers, though I have not found the need to use them except for raid content. Yes having a tank makes everything easier…but forcing players into a role when its not needed feels a bit like slavery :-)

Guild Wars 2 combines so many features that I like that it’ll be a nearly impossible act to follow, but I’m going to try anyway. The most important aspects are probably flexible character classes (I don’t consider multiple DPS specializations for one class to be flexibility), active combat (no spamming skills that root me in place, everything being auto targeted, etc), aesthetic customization.
If you have any suggestions please let me know. Telling me why you like a particular game would be much more helpful than just telling me a title but either works.
GW2 is really the only MMO that does not use the holy trinity for one (tank, Healer, CC) in a group make up. That alone will set it aside from ever other MMO out there.
There is no end game content (AKA Raids, and Raid level Progression) that is found in other MMOs like WoW.
But take those away and you get MMOs like Tera, Perfect world, LOTRO to some Regard for Free 2 Play that have a VIP subscription. Out of those, currently Tera is my favorite go to for when GW2 is boring. I just LOVE the combat system in Tera, like seriously.
But you didn’t really go into great details on what your looking for here. Other the Cosmetic customizations, Build diversities, and the like.

Well, zerg is going to be zerker only now by default which isn’t a thing I can do well so that rather stinks but defense works.
You only need 40% Crit, 200% Crit damage, and 2100~ power to be a ‘good’ zerker. Split the difference on Defense and HP and you wont get stomped to death.
Add in Bloodlust for more power, create a build that allowed for defense (Stability, Cleanse, Reflects) and you really shouldn’t have an issue being in the zerg if everyone is working together and chaining defensive skills.
I do feel the day of the 100% berserker is dead though. If your face rolling on the floor your not doing damage and I just cant see how players are surviving with a 100% berserker stat builds with the recent changes.
I did not know this. I’d always been told “100% zerk or gtfo”.
I might try this now, thank you!
I have been gearing this way for power builds for over a year now. And its even more important now for Blob Boss war groups. You need armor to mitigate physical damage and HP to mitigate DoT’s/Condi to give you time to react.
I say 40% Crit cause Fury gives ya 20% for a total of 60%. which, IMHO, is more then enough.
the players that are all ‘Zerk or GTFO’ are idiots who actually don’t understand anything about this game. Like at all.

Oh hey, you were on my map
We had a great commander!
Commader was awesome, but it was the players adjusting to the Crit spot and DD requirement to beat the clock down.
Things are slowly getting better, there will still be hit and miss maps due to other players not catching up to the changes. But its not as bad as it was on the day of that Crit + 100% HP change. I had fail after fail for a while there.

If the community didn’t already know, SoR guild Gaiscioch [GSCH] regularly hosts a double Teq nite on Mondays and Wednesdays. Current and former TTS members all partake in this event because it’s led by our former glorious TTS leader Soren Ironclaw. With hundreds upon hundreds of Teq kills, you can say we’re pretty much experts on this event. We never cheat or use exploits to down Teq. Ever. GM Chris can verify this claim, as we discovered and reported major bugs and exploits to him and his team in the past.
I say all these things above because I’m about to /rant, and don’t want people to think that this is a L2P issue. With all our experience and map coordination, last nite we failed Teq by 0.005% HP, for the 2nd kitten time in the past week or so. Failing is one thing, but to fail when there’s practically nothing on Teq’s HP bar is another. Teq is broken. Doubling his HP was just too much. Penguin is sad.
TEQ downed at the Midnight spawn with 5:34(13seconds after the screenshot) seconds left on the clock in a Pug map that organized and assembled at :41 on the hour.
Sorry but Teq is not broken, you need to L2P.
I was in a south boats group with a total of 4 players, so the entire map wasn’t even setup entirely correctly and we still downed him with out any issue.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Only merf does and he’s already spoken on the issue in favor of the way teq is now.
Of course he would be in favour. This change practically cements monopoly of guilds like TTS on Teq fight. Yes, the majority of players that enjoyed Teq can’t do it anymore, but hey, they are not TTS.
Except that is not the case. Plenty of Pug Maps downing TEQ with out issue and 5mins+ on the clock remaining. It’s been an adjustment, but not such that only TTS can complete it.
Sure there are plenty of players that don’t know about the changes yet, plenty of players that have not adjusted their PVE Boss play style and dropped PVT gear completely yet either. its going to take time to get everyone on board and I Blame Anet on that for their poor execution on these latest patch notes. Something this game breaking needs an in game notification system.

Consultants can advise a business what to do. They don’t make decisions for businesses. Businesses can accept their recommendations, but are in no way bound to do so. No business would abrogate their decision-making power to an outsider. Ever.
#formerconsultant
Consultants cannot make businesses do X, but the shareholders, principle companies, and Board members of said company can. And all 3 of those affect Anet with GW2 pricing.
The price was decided on before Jan8th. Jan8th is when a financial report was released saying the expansion would sell for 2,000,000 copies with an estimated profit being in the 100,000,000’s. If you do the math that is 50~ each.
Chances are, NCsoft is who made this price static and it was sometime in 2014 before that report was released. And it was probably done via a principle vote (Majority Share holders + Board members).
I know about this cause I work for a privately held company that does business with a publicly traded company who sits on our Board as member. And that Publicly traded company tries to get us to do things all the time (lets call it compliance) and we never have to follow them as we are own entity(majority holders). But if we were publicly traded we would have to follow such compliance if they came down from the top (Share holders + Board directors)
Its really no different with what happens with Anet, since they are completely owned by NCSoft.

Kill from 2hours ago, 5:49 left on the clock and Teq was killed in a 18min hot join Pug map (no one was really around until :41~, most were trying to join Taxi Maps)
So Teq is far from impossible now that people know about the crit and to use the DD Spot, and Defense teams run back after each and every burn. Its back to ‘normal’ as far as I can tell now.
I think before many players were still doing Auto Attack in PVT and didnt adjust their gear to Min/max Power and Crit chance until recently. Now that many players have things are much better now.
I just wish we didn’t have to use the forums to get this info out to the players. Anet needs to deliver patch notes and game breaking changes better to the common community that doesn’t use the forums at all.

Gigabyte r9 290x windforce OC with 4gb gddr 5
Ram ballistix razor 8gbOverheating is not a problem since i don’t use stock cooler, and i’ve installed aditional fans.
All drivers are up to date.
Just cause you do not use stock cooling and added fans doesnt mean its not a cooling issue.
Download GPU-Z, CPU-Z, HWinfo, Coretemp and with GW2 running in a window take a screenshot of each of those applications. for GPU-Z grab a screenshot of both the Main tab and Sensors tab.

Looking over the new traits/skills on the Dragonhunter, the name is fitting for them sure. But you could also call the Dragonhunter spec ‘Quincy’ too. Ton’s of Bleach references there….
But I kinda see what they are doing with the specializations. Mesmers get Wells(taken from Necro’s since Wells don’t seem to work really well with the Deathknight thing), Dragonhunters get Traps (pulled from Rangers), …ect.
Seems that Anet thinks that a main play style is going to go away with the traits so they are now forcing that play style on anyone who wants to roll a certain specialization. Personally, what I am seeing I do not like.

Since your Card is still labeled as a HD7690M XT, I going to guess that you are still using the OEM supplied drivers from HP. If thats the case its probably based on the 12.10 driver set the last working Intel Switchable Graphics that doesn’t need a mod to now work. You will need to update the AMD drivers to later versions. Ideally the OMega (14.12) Drivers. But you need modded drivers, as the one supplied from AMD do not work with the Intel SG setup out of the box.
Here is a good source to pull down SG_Fix drivers for AMD
http://mahmoudelfar.blogspot.com/2014/12/modded-catalyst-1412-omega-driver.html
Also your HD7690M XT is technically a HD6770M, so its also possible you will see no benefit to rolling new drivers if only FXAA is affecting you. Ideally disable FXAA in game(its terrible anyway) and use AA x8 in CCC control panel as an application override. But the HD6770M class doesnt have a lot of power IMHO to really push high levels of AA.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7690M-XT.72662.0.html
I have a DV6-6100 with an i7-2630QM and a HD6770M and I cannot push more then 8x AA via CCC, else the performance drops to badly. And thats at 1080p.

Does this down scaling change also affect dungeons? If so I think that explains why I was getting one shot in CoF P1 during the Acolyte phase. Before you could run through the flame thrower mobs, and if they pulled you back you just pop stability. But now, you die in 2 seconds.

Skip Broadwell for the PC and wait a few months for Skylake for the PC. Broadwell is the last Socket 1150 CPU, Skylake is the first Socket 1151 CPU which uses DDR4. It’s also Intel’s “Tick”, a new update to the CPU architecture.
The Broadwell desktop CPUs will actually be slower than the current top end Haswell CPUs due to their lower clockspeed. What they do have is a better integrated GPU which is 70%+ faster than the GPUs found in Haswell which makes a discrete GPU-less setup faster than AMD’s current A10-7870K, although AMD is still half the price.
Lets not forget the L4 eDRAM too. And while I agree with you, if someone were on a G3258 or an i3 looking to upgrade Broadwell-C might make sense. But for someone on a 4690K or 4790K its a dumb upgrade choice.

DD spots are just places where the range of cleaving melee weapons hit 2 of the bosses hit boxes. Not all classes/weapons are even capable of utilizing these spots.
Most melee cleaving weapons can hit it, pretty much no ranged weapon auto attack can utilize it, though certain ranged weapons like ele staff meteor storm can hit all 3 hit boxes with a single attack. I suspect ranger LB AOE can too.
They aren’t gimmicks, they are just an artifact of the fact that most mega bosses have more than one hit box.
Crit is just bugged currently I believe since it was just added.
That maybe so, but with the increased HP pool, even with Crit we now need to use the DD spots or have a higher chance of failing. I think if DD is going to stay in the game it should be an area instead of a spot. with a bigger range to match what the current range of skills are. Instead of the current 80 or whatever it is.
Think of a dart board, with the Boss in the middle. Those Circles are the new Crit zones and DD hit zone. Thats what I am thinking here.

After not having played Gw 2 for a long time due to the lack of a proper computer (2013 MacBook Air which turns into an oven when running this even in the lowest setting), I would like to come back to the game. Since GW2 is not the only thing Inwill be using the for (also video editing in Premier Pro) I was looking at the following spec: See attached screenshot
Budget approx 2500 euro
Screen of choice Acer XB280HK 28" 4k (included in the 2500 so budget is around 1900 for the pc)
Is there something I should change in the configuration or should I wait 2 months more till Skylake? (Bit afraid that since it’s a new processor type it might cause issues)
I heard some people are experiencing some issues in 4k, eg with lags and the Ui.
Will the screen be big enough to read the text and will the rig be able to handle this in crowded WvsW? Also is the GtX980 TI fully supported?
In addition, will we get DX12 support?
Many thanks in advance!
4K is so miss-understood. First off the bigger resolution isn’t going to put much strain on your GPU and its not going to use much more of the GPU memory then you are using now (68MB for a 4K display is the current Estimate).
the Textures in GW2 are not changing, so the over all performance going to 4k wont make a whole lot of difference then your current 1440p resolutions (that I consider to be Highend, fyi).
The issue comes down to that GW2 doesn’t like 4k for the UI (the Fix is in progress according to the bug forum), and character draws seem to be the biggest issue cause of more viewable area on your screen now. The more character data the slower the game runs. And that is cause GW2 is bound to CPU performance over GPU performance.
For games like GW2 I would never roll 4k. Now if you want to play GTAV, Witcher3, Rainbow6…ect at 4k then by all means. But to build it specifically for GW2? Complete waste.

Don’t go for skylake, it’s just not worth to wait for it or wait longer for the skylake followup, since Intel said that skylake is just a filler-generation for now. Since they having trouble to get constantly good results in the new 10nm fabrication of the skylake follow-up (which was planned to be released this fall and now it’s seems to come out next summer).
So Skylake isn’t that big of an performance boost, it’s just more energy/performance efficient, which isn’t worth the new-full-price of a new processor generation IMO
You’re mixing a lot of things:
- Skylake comes with 14nm, Cannonlake, which is the die-shrink of Skylake, will come with 10nm and for now it’s expected for 2017 (Intel also is having problems with 10nm shrink).
- Skylake is a brand new architecture which includes several improvements to Haswell and some already introduced with Broadwell (which is the die shrink of Haswell). Performance is expected to be +15% compared to Haswell, so a Skylake at 4GHz should perform like a Haswell at 4,6.
Except that is not what the current information is saying about skylake.
http://wccftech.com/intel-skylake-s-core-i7-6700-k-benchmarks/
The only benefit Skylake is going to have over Haswell is the IVR being moved back to the motherboard and DDR4. The IVR is going to increase OC potential since that is a heat source, and DDR4 will affect memory intensive applications.
But compute power? No we wont see a large enough bump between the Haswell 1150 flag ship and the first flag ship on Skylake.

Laptop is not made for playing games longer then 15min a day and then lowend is made for internet surfing.
yea, this is complete bull.
If you’re just going to post miss-information please don’t bother to post at all. its going to make users think that laptops cannot play games for more than 15mins, and that is just not true at all.
Even if you take like ASUS ROG G751JL it still not made to run games long time every day, if you set one on bechmark for 1week nonstop and they will die.
I play GW2 and other games on my M6500, which is going on 6 years old now, 8+ hours a day on the weekends. That same laptop runs computation scripts in parallel with my desktop for MD5 checksums during the weekdays.
so your information is just 100% incorrect. Otherwise my M6500 would have died 18months after it was built. But..thats not the case and its going on 6 years old and still going strong.

I think that Crit spots are extremely sort sighted, same with double damage spots. Instead I think that there should be a radius from the target that enables Crits and DD. Say 400-600 range is double damage, and 900-1200 range is Crit.
That will put players closer to the boss like you guys want, and make the entire encounter more worth while.
As it is now, the Crit spots/DD Spots are 200-300 range if that. A lot of players STILL have issues finding them, and some of the bosses dont have a spot. So what does that tell you?
And for Bosses that have safe spot gimmicks, just remove them (The Golem Box for example).

I actually like Tera, and wish Guild Wars 2’s combat was more like it, but the amount of horrific pedophile chat that goes on in that game as a result of the Elin race is disgusting, and has to be experienced for you to understand how bad it can get. My issue with ‘making things harder’ is the risk vs reward system is completely broken now. Loot now needs to be overhauled, and I just don’t see that happening. Why spend double the time killing X boss, running X dung path, …ect, for the same rewards before the patch. It was already a horrible risk v reward system before, its just a whole lot worse now. And if they do not plan on addressing it, I for one won’t be around for HoT.

why people waste 20mins to get a yellow
This is what I have been asking myself for sometime now, even 5mins to get a yellow to too much.
The Entire loot system needs overhauled. I am soo sick and tired of getting the same loot on all the same mobs across the zones in the game. its unimaginative on Anet’s part, and really gives players no incentive to adapt to these new updates.
I would like to see more BoA items that are boss specific. and Skins are just not enough.

Outfits need to go away. The only thing you can change on an outfit is the dyes and disabling the Helm. If all we had were outfits, than everyone in the game would look exactly the same.

If your going to donate money to Anet with expectation of anything out of it, you looking at 10million+. Anything less wont suffice to sway their current projects.
Just sayin…
However, if you wanna donate just cause? then buy Gems. Thats the ‘only current’ method that works. I guess you could buy stocks though….

I think Fall protection could be moved from Traits to a ‘potion’, or better yet make it passive under the ‘protection’ tree.
Either way, I think Fall damage in this game is kittened, and how Anet ‘patched it’ is even more stupid. There are times where you fall 6+ times in the same instance, and if you are not traited you would be dead. Never mind the fall activation skill, which was OP for some classes at at time, its now just a gimmick to make your falls ‘look pretty’.

The zerg has always been terrible at killing it. Before the zergs came along, you used to be able to solo it in half the time they usually take. Blame all the leechers – they make everything that scales worse.
If everyone that wasn’t dealing their worth in DPS simply tagged the boss and AFK’d outside of the event’s area, events would be a lot faster.
Problem is scaling here. I remember being able to 5man MarkII and dodging the electro plates and such. but today, due to the sheer number of ppl standing on that box, it makes no sense to do that anymore.
Anet needs to serious think about what they are doing here. Simply adding Crit damage to the bosses and doubling the HP is not good enough. The bosses are all still the same, they just take longer now. So what did Anet accomplish by doing this? Absolutely nothing.
The exception would be TeQ and TT, those bosses suffer from Skill Lag now and 30-45 seconds of players unable to activate Fury, Haste, Might Boons really suffers the entire Burning of that boss. That is why they are failing more now then before the patch. Also, TEQ is not any harder then before, he/she just takes nearly all the time now to kill it. Been in 5-6 successful maps since that patch and every kill ended at :45 – 1:25 seconds left on the boss counter. How is that more challenging? its not.
Problem with TEQ is the morons who auto attack and stay dead when downed. The smaller issue is ppl not watching the clock to get back on defenses after the burn phase. when players get those under control, and Anet fixes the lag, Teq will be on 95% farm just like before this poor excuse of a Boss Patch.

Used to run a guild were we would give out Gem(800-1200) for lotteries and such. I would say that guild leadership spent close to 8k over the last 2 years between the 8 of us.
on my account alone close to 800, then I have 4 other accounts that I paid for. So quite a bit, but thats only cause I enjoy this game…when its working properly.
I do think Anet is getting too greedy though.

Lag and the learning curve.
Tonight I could not activate any skills in between burns (going back to defenses) and many other players were complaining about being unable to activate burst/Fury/Might skills to help with the Burn.
So, until you fix the Lag if you drop his HP pool by 5% I think that would solve the issue.
Also, we lost TEQ tonight while the timer was at 2:45seconds. So there is something definitely amiss going on.
But, aside from the Lag the event is perfectly doable once PPL learn the Crit spot and hit DD and just don’t noob out.
But..until the Lag is fixed, or the HP dropped a bit I am not doing this world boss.

flying mounts in gw2 in the future question?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: ikereid.4637
Anet currently has a pretty firm stance against Mounts, and its mainly due to the way point system they put in the game when it launched. I am surprised we are getting Gliders to be honest, so other then more vertical zones down the road and more skins for the glider I doubt we will see anything resembling a formal mount.
However! there is the BroomStick and the Magic Carpet! While they do not ‘Fly’ they certainly float! 250Gems IIRC.

Like I said, I’m not a programmer, I have no idea about “rebuilding the main stack” and “ripping out the memory system” and stuff, but from what I’ve heard these problems aren’t simple to solve. GW2 (and MMOs in general) just have so much information to process; there’s no way to avoid memory accessing queues.
This is why I mentioned TSX. It would affect the line in Bold
Transactional Synchronization Extensions (TSX) is an extension to the x86 instruction set architecture (ISA) that adds hardware transactional memory support, speeding up execution of multi-threaded software through lock elision. According to different benchmarks, TSX can provide around 40% faster applications execution in specific workloads, and 4–5 times more database transactions per second (TPS)
Source – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transactional_Synchronization_Extensions
And with the 6th Gen Intel CPUs we might start to see TSX in the i5’s and higher end i7’s. Currently its a server feature in the haswell-EP line.

Unfortunately it seems it’s not as easy as DX12/64-bit to solve GW2’s performance issues.
Here is a post an engine programmer made on the GW2 subreddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3ajnso/bad_optimalization_in_gw2/csdnn3n
The problem is apparently not something that can be solved by hardware, but by code itself. It was not programmed to work in parallel, so even if you make it multithreaded, those different threads all try to access the same data at once, and have to wait their turn.
One thing that stood out to me though, was that the developer said the main stack is the bottleneck. This doesn’t line up with the story about the different threads having to queue for memory access. I am wondering if, despite this developer’s claims, DX12 would relieve the main stack bottleneck by reducing the impact of the rendering stack/draw calls. But I am not a programmer, I am just speculating there.
This issue that the Dev talks about is a perfect example of TSX use in a consumer desktop. Very interesting.
But if it is the main stack they should be able to solve that by rebuilding that stack. If Memory handling is an issue they just need to rip out the memory management system and rebuild it with sharing in place. sure no easy under taking, but would be far easier then rebuilding for DX12/64bit, and could give a pretty large performance boost.

When you crash and get the 101 error, Run tracert’s against the following IP Addresses.
Some of these are UK and others are US IP Addresses, but it will give you an idea of how your ISP talks to NCsoft’s server clusters. And tell you were the issue is at.

I don’t remember the specs
It’s the machine I had for GW2 launch, and it ran the game fine at that time. I replaced it with my current CyberPower in April 2014.
I did goof in my OP: my husband had suggested the Surface Pro 3, which has a lot more power than the Surface 3. I didn’t realize there were two things with similar names. I’m almost leaning towards that machine if it has USB ports for things like my mouse and if it can handle GW2, because it will be far more portable and less fuss than trying to get a full tower most of the way across the country.
We still have one Win7 license left to apply to a machine, I think, though maybe the Pro 3 wouldn’t let me have Win7 and I’d have to figure out Win8?
Enjoy AZ while your out here, its kitten near 100F as it is now and with the storm fronts rolling in the humidity is kicking up.
I suggest looking for a tablet with the following configurations
Atom Z3745
2GB of ram
32GB eMMC + MicroSD slot for a 64G MicroSD card
10" LCD with 1280×800 resolution at a min
I have a Lenovo Yoga2 that has win8.1 running and it will play GW2 on low settings at 1280×800 at 30FPS. The only draw back is the lack of a charging port AND USB connectivity at the same time. But there is a company called Irulu that has a really nice tablet for about 299~ on amazon with the above specs I quoted. And it too will run the game at a decent performance on low settings.
Since you have a situation like that, being Mobile might be a better choice then sending your desktop out and dealing with hooking it up and such.
If you can/will spend more than that, a 15" Laptop would be a better choice.

that showed nothing new. maybe its because my ram is slow? is there any other possibility that could help fix this issue.
Your ram is not slow, its 1600mhz at CL9. that is about what RAM should be running at today.
what concerns me is your OCZ SSD. It sounds kinda old from the stats (55GB and agility3). I would pull up crystaldiskinfo and make sure its showing a good status. Also pull down OCZ utility and make sure that trim is working on it.
But you failed to say where you are seeing the 20-40FPS drops at. what zones, what kinda content…ect. there are places in the game that 20-40FPS is perfectly normal.

There’s an optimization bug going around lately. It seems to be completely random at times, affecting certain computers at different points. I can’t replicate it on demand and after each patch it seemed to be getting better. The only thing to suggest is restarting your computer…
EDIT: I’m getting the bug again, I thought it was fixed with the 23rd patch but it keeps coming back. My client keeps telling me I have 80 FPS when it’s really below 15.
If this is true, throw up MSI’s afterburners onscreen stats with the GW2 ingame FPS meter and show that your FPS are not the same to the Bug forum. This could be a serious issue that they are not fully aware of yet.

its a network issue. Just cause other applications are working doesnt mean the network isnt at fault. Look for the network troubleshooting post in the stickies and run tracert’s to Anets IP addresses when you have connection issues and post them to this thread. We can ID what hop/node is dropping you and then you can open a ticket with your ISP about it.

I don’t want a powerful system i just want to play on very low settings at 1366×768.
I’m thinking on getting a pentium g3220 and a gt730, that’ll work for me for at least 1,5 years. I don’t want to play all the recent games, i just want to play GW2 and other light games.
Since your on a budget I suggest the following.
H97M motherboard
G3258
Hyper 212Evo
2×4GB DDR3 1600mhz CL9 RAM
R9 360x
Then re-use the rest of your old system. I assume the PSU of the old system is 300-350Watts, if so it should be ok for the hardware line up above. Else add a power supply to that list as well.
That will get you 80-120FPS depending on settings and how high you decide to overclock the G3258 and give you room to upgrade when haswell prices drop in 2-3 years. As it is now, the 4790K stock is still the fastest CPU for gaming. I dont see that changing until after skylake.

Hey everyone, I know nothing about computers so I hope someone can help me with this!
I’ve had my laptop for about a year now and at first it ran GW2 very smoothly and I even had the graphics at fairly high settings. But recently, my laptop has been acting weird every time I run GW. It gets really hot and makes whirring noises and I lag for about 2 seconds every 5 seconds. (hope that made sense lol) I lowered the graphic settings but that didn’t seem to have helped at all :/ I just want to be able to play my game with pretty graphics again without lag! What should I do about it?Also I’m not sure if this will be useful but here’s information about my laptop. :
Intel 4th Gen. Core i5-4200M Processor, 2.5GHz/2 Cores/4 Threads/Max Turbo 3.1GHz8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
1TB SATA 5400rpm HDD
Intel HD Graphics 4600 with One HDMI and One VGA Ports
Thanks
That is most definitely thermal throttling due to dust build up around the CPU fan. Buy a can of air and blow out the vents where that fan is located. And that should clear the issue up.
if it doesnt, then that means the thermal paste went bad under your CPU’s heatsink and needs to be cleaned off and reapplied. Since your Laptop is only a year old I would see if there is still warranty on it and have the techs take care of it.
