To be perfectly clear IT IS NOT ABOUT THE PRICE! It’s the fact that there is no incentive to upgrade an account. You’re essentially losing 4 character slots and a bank’s worth of storage if you upgrade. I have absolutely no issue paying $50 for the game or the xpac or any of the tons of cool stuff they put on the gem store, but I will not upgrade an account if I’m going TO LOSE something for it. This totally trivializes the work I’ve put into the game. And it’s an easy fix, give everyone that upgrades 1500 gems for character slots and goodies off the gemstore. It’s not the same value as a totally new account but at least it’s not a slap in the face.
It is about the price.
AAA games go for 49.99-59.99 for the base package MOST of the time, this is an ADDON to the base game.
Not to mention GW2 is not a AAA Title. Hell it still uses DX9c and has its own inherent performance issues that were never resolved.
Now take on the fact that some of us have multiple accounts that we support (wife, 2 brothers, 2 nephews and myself) thats one hell of an upgrade budget!
THEN add in all that stuff you said about what is lost by the bundled base game…and its a complete package of lose on Anet’s side.
They must change this.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
ESO, Tera, LoTRO are all good ‘others’. The fact that GW2 is superior is not a myth.
I just cannot get behind these prices. The base price doesn’t even include a kittening character slot for Christs sake!
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
To end this issue, they should come up with Upgrade pack from core game for existing GW2 players, cost $29.99. Case closed.
Pretty much.
Or give them the value of what they paid for the base game against the current value of the HoT bundle.
The $50 price tag IS for the upgrade, you guys need to get that fact into your heads.
Wrong, 49.99 is for HoT+Base game.
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

There are always people that complain about expansion prices, I remember seeing similar threads in EQ, WoW, etc.. My take is that be lucky you are playing a game that actually release expansions and updates. You could be playing one of many many other MMO’s that are on maintenance mode and barely upgrade or release content anymore. And for a game that does not charge monthly subscriptions unlike other titles, I think the price is well justified.
For $50 you’ll get so many hours of entertainment, it’ll make you feel silly for paying $150 a month for cable bills.
Except its 49.99 × 4 accounts. Do the math there.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
I seriously don’t understand why the core game comes with it
at least let me give the core game i just now got again to a friend
They need to remove the core game and adjust the price to accommodate. Or add in that extra character slot.
These prices are unacceptable for an EXPANSION. I do not care that this game has no subs, it has a Gem store (that I have invested in over the years SINCE launch) so saying ‘Oh but No sub!!’ is not a good enough excuse. Sorry.

Get on board, GW2 is NOT a AAA title. You didn’t even do e3!
Actually they are at E3 and just did a live stream from there about guild halls.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/get-a-first-look-at-guild-halls-at-the-e3-pc-gamingshow/
http://mk02jm307.mapyourshow.com/6_0/exhibitor/exhibitor-details.cfm?ExhID=are7919
Been watching E3 streaming from Youtube.com 9am-6pm PST, Saw Nintendo, Sony, UBsoft, EA…ect but NCsoft/Anet? Nope cant recall seeing any of their PR stuff.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
HAHA, to get the extra character slot to USE the new character you need to pay 74.99?!
800 gems is NOT worth $25 (Don’t care about the other JUNK on the ‘silver’ tier)
Anet/NCsoft you must re-eval these prices and options.
IF the base package INCLUDED a character slot, OK I can KINDA get on board with that. But it doesn’t.
I am not on board with this.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Ok, I get the price for NEW players. But the players that already have the base game SHOULD NOT be charged 49.99!
The price should be 39.99, or 34.99 as that would be the difference of the base game (9.99 for the discount weekends, 14.99 for none).
Get on board, GW2 is NOT a AAA title. You didn’t even do e3!
seriously, screw this kitten.

Because it’s not just the power the CPU and video card can use. The hard drive, optical drive, case fans, not to mention conversion loss by the motherboard stepping 12 volts down to the voltages the CPU and RAM use. There’s a reason why the voltage regulation module (the circuitry found neat and around the CPU socket and RAM slots) often have heat sinks on them as conversion isn’t 100% and the loss is tossed off as heat. Then there’s the motherboard chipset, etc.
So sure, the power use of just the R7 240 and the G3258 is below the 216 watts MAXIMUM 12 volt wattage of that PSU and it should work but …
See what I use for a guide for fitting PSUs to systems is the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator.
http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
I take that, select the components including drives and fans, select 30% capacitor loss, take the minimum PSU wattage, assume that’s all 12 volts and bump it up another 50% and look for a PSU that can give me that.
And with that pair of components, two DDR3 modules, a HDD, DVD burner and one 120mm case fan I get with my method 335 watts at 12 volts or around 28 amps. The actual number the calculator gave me was 223 watts.
And that’s not OCing the G3258 and video card manufactures can, depending on amount and type of RAM as well as factory OC, can significantly raise the power need from AMD or nVidia’s default design.
Cheaping out on a PSU is like putting crappy but really cheap fuel into your nice new car. The PSU is NOT the component you should cheap out on.
And someday in the future you get your hands on a better video card or Socket 1150 CPU, having a buffer means you shouldn’t have to worry if your PSU could handle a modest upgrade.
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
There are 2 things you don’t cheap out on, the PSU is the first. The 2nd is more of an opinion :-)

A 280x is massive overkill for that CPU, it’s going to bottleneck super hardcore. Even a 260/750 is probably pretty generous, but I’d still opt for either of them.
yes, but a 280x can stay around for the next upgrade phase the OP may go through. But it all comes down to if he wants to buy used or not really. Why spend 120 on a 270x when you can buy a 280x for the same/near same price.

wow thanks alot sirsquishy.5831 . You made my mind with that pic…do u reckon that a r7 240 ddr5 boosted 1 gb is enough ? Since i saw u used an old HD 5xXX some GPU,i`m very tempted to believe that yes ? Waiting for ur reply since i can’t PM you yet.
The game does not need anything better then a GTX460 or R7 270 to play on max settings at 1080p. You can probably get away with the 740 and roll with medium settings to get decent performance, as with the HD5770 in that image you can see that it was pulling 80FPS~ on medium-high settings.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Also i wanna be able to multi-task a bit,stay on my SKype,listen to music,watch 1080 P Youtube videos…not only GW2. I`m very afraid that an Intel Dual Core won’t suffice what`s why i ask…
look at the image on this post.
thats my G3258 clocked at 4ghz on a H81 ECS board. On that Board I could not get higher then 4.2ghz with out BSOD crashes. That board I got for 39.99 on newegg.

You’ll see better fps going with an i5 and a 260x, but note you’ll also need to buy a motherboard and it will be more expensive.
This completely.
And its worth it.
If you do not buy an unlocked i5 then just buy a h81 or b85 motherboard. You can save cost there. And for the i5, look a frys.com for the Friday sales. Last week they had a i5-4690K for 188. So that is a way to save on cost there too. But the median price for an i5 today is about 179~.
Also, look at amazon for used GPUs, you can get an r9 280x for about 120 shipped now. And with the new AMD 300 series launching on the 16th, I expect those prices to drop even more. 260x is 100% slower then a 270/270x, which is 100% slower then a 280x, which is 100% slower then a 290×...ect. New a 260x goes for 139.99.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
download GPU-Z and run it while GW2 is running in a window. Look at the bus speed, it should say x16 version 3 @ x16 version 3. If its not, then reseat your 270.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
The thing that you must pay attention to is the VRM design. 4 phases is not going to yield a high overclock, compared to 6 and 8 phases. Also high quality VRM is better then more low quality. So knowing what VRMs are used is also important.
I have personally tested this on h81(ECS board of all things) H97M (MSI) and Z87 and Z97. The h81 had 4 VRMs, while the H97M had 6, and my Z87/97’s both have 8.
My H81 could not get the G3258 above 4.2ghz, while the h97m was able to get 4.5. The Z87/97 could OC the chip to 4.8. Its all in the VRM design.
A g3258 clocked at 4.6ghz(ideal) beats every i3 out there. It also beats every AMD CPU out there as well (Single threaded performance), and comes in at about 55% behind the FX8350 in multithreaded performance.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
I would suggest a Nvidia GTX750/750Ti, or an AMD R7 260x for a low budget option for that E6600 in your system. If you dont mind buying used then I would suggest a R9 280x from amazon.
But you need to make sure your Power supply can handle the amp draw and supply the required PCIE power connections (6pin, 6+2 pin or 8pin…ect)
If your PSU is 300w and has no 6pin or 6+2 pin PCIE adapters, then a Nvidia GTX750 would be your only option as that doesn’t require the external power connection and pulls less then 75w.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
GW2 likes single core performance more then anything else really.
A g3258 + Z87 with 6phase power would provide a better gaming experience then ANY AMD APU/CPU option.
http://techreport.com/review/26735/overclocking-intel-pentium-g3258-anniversary-edition-processor/3
And the R7 240? I would suggest nothing less then a R7 260x if buying new, else just buy a R9 280x used from Amazon.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
IMHO, if WvW is your goal buying an expensive GPU like a GTX970 is a waste of cash cause you wont see much of an improvement between a something like a 270x/gtx460 era GPU and the newer GTX970.
That being said, if you’re looking at a $160-170 270x you should probably go look around for a used 280x because it’ll likely be cheaper- they go for $140 all day long. Mine was only $120 shipped. Even in the $100 realm a used 7950 is going to be the way to go.
AMD cards are dirt cheap used right now, so they’re really worth checking out.
oh wow, 120~ for a used 280x now?! Man how prices have dropped.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
its the 12v AMPs on the PSU. They have either diminished, or never really fully delivered the 22Amps required by that card+CPU/RAM/HDDs/MB, and caused the PSU to wear out faster.
You need a new PSU.

I plan on buying my wife a new PC next week.
Includes Inspiron i3847-4617 desktop PC with keyboard, mouse, and setup guide
Windows 8.1 operating system
3.2GHz fourth-generation Intel Core i5-4460 quad-core processor with 6MB cache, up to 3.4GHz
8GB DDR3 1600MHz dual-channel RAM
1TB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
Tray-load DVD drive
Dell Wireless-N 1705 Wi-Fi
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Integrated 5.1 audioNo GPU yet, the Tom’s Hardware guys seem to think that adding a GPU wouldn’t work because prebuilt MOBOs have Bios that prevent anything after market.
The HD4600 will get 30-40 FPS on medium at 1366×768 resolutions with out much of an issue. But you really should consider buying a dedicated graphics card. Something like a R9 260x, GTX750 or GTX750Ti for the low end price range (these cards will pull 60-80FPS with out much issue at 1080p for this game). You will have a much better experience.

Hello all!
I am seeing less-than-expected performance/FPS given my current setup and I was hoping someone may be able to provide some assistance.
First, here is my current configuration:
- Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 – All latest updates
- Intel i5-2500K (Turbo boost set to 4.6)
- (2) EVGA GTX970 SSC (configured to run in SLI)
- NVIDIA Driver version 353.06
- ASRock P77 Extreme4Gen3 Motherboard
- 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
- Seasonic 620W Bronze+
- SAMSUNG EVO 840 SSD
I have followed the guidelines in the following post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/PC-FPS-and-Performance-based-issues
I am still seeing low FPS in world boss events.
Is there anything else I’m missing that may be contributing to this? I’ve tried parking and unparking cores, reinstalling video card drivers and all other drivers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Thats normal FPS for this game under those conditions. If you want more FPS you must lower your in game settings
As designed, sorry.

yes, see either of my builds in my signature. both are more then capable at WvW.
Also, ESO on the PC is much much better then on a console. Also as you upgrade hardware and your OS’s you get better support (DX12 for example), something that consoles will never see.
Thanks! For the i5 build, (since the i7 one is way overbudget), does it matter if I go with the Radeon 270 vs buying a better graphics card if I can afford to? Or is it not really worth it?
a GTX460 is about all you ‘need’ to run the game at 1080P with how CPU bound the game is for things like WvW.
IMHO, if WvW is your goal buying an expensive GPU like a GTX970 is a waste of cash cause you wont see much of an improvement between a something like a 270x/gtx460 era GPU and the newer GTX970.
Now if you play something like the witcher3, then yes buy the GTX970.

The answer is a definite no… You could stream it, but since your desktop is out of commission you’re probably unable to do so.
The iPad is a tablet not a computer. It’s also running iOS which means you can only install applications that are available on the Apple App Store. It’s also nowhere near powerful enough to run GW2.
hey, my tablet can run GW2 at 30FPS. Granted its a Lenovo Yoga 2 with win8.1 and is powered by a Z3745 Atom CPU, and has a lowly 2GB of ram. But still, its a tablet that can run the game :-)
the OP’s issue is the CPU’s architecture. Its ARM, its not capable of running x86 software, apple store lock downs aside.

The IPAD uses an ARM based CPU which will not run x86 based software. The best you can do is stream the game from your desktop to your iPAD with something like Kainy. Which is what I do for my Android Devices like my Galaxy S4, to play GW2 on the run sometimes.

Anet already said that they will not do a Cantha themed release. Its partly due to their Asian customers I think. Elona might be entirely possible though.
But whats funny is the already existing Asian like content in the game, mainly the Mini Chinese Dragon Pet, the Finisher(2 I think), and the outfits/weapons.
But Skins and pets are one thing, while an entire story line with cultural references are something entirely different.

GW2 playerbase=impatient
GW2 playerbase = proud to get nothing
You can be realistic without being “proud to get nothing”.
If you lined up 50 MMORPGs and looked at how many of them actually go months without updates, you’d probably be surprised. This is particularly true before expansions are released.
I don’t know why people think this is so unusual.
None of them claimed to have a living world with biweekly updates.
Anet announced the living world during the 1st Season of the Living World, which they had to abandon. Anet didn’t start with the idea of an expansion. There was a LOT of pressure from fans to make an expansion.
Anyone who thinks there’ll be an expansion and 2 week updates is fooling themselves.
Unless you think there wasn’t tremendous pressure on Anet to shift their emphasis to an expansion? Because you know, I saw a whole lot of people demanding an expansion.
Just keep drinking that cool aid. The fact remains, the game has not had a substantial CONTENT update since Jan 13th. It is June 9th, that is 6 months with no static content update (Not bug fixes, game play changes/balancing, or otherwise). With the Expansion on the horizon (I say 6-7 months~) The game might be in its current state until the expansion. I just can’t believe you guys are all OK with that.
To me, this is a bait and switch on Anet’s part.
‘hey guys! Buy GW2, there will be no sub we will NEVER throw an expansion at you! Instead!!!! we are going to make a ’living world’ that changes about every 2 weeks, with Content Cycling out every 4 weeks. Yes that means if you don’t log in in a 4-6 week period you will/might miss the last content cycle, BUT!!! That means you still get a nice and fresh gaming experience EVEN!! if you cant log in but every 6 weeks!!!’
yes the above statement is how the game was DELIVERED, that is what I paid for and supported. The expansion was a value add with a promise to drop in MORE content at one go. But they basically gave up on the rest of the game in the process.
And here we are, like every other MMO…no content updates for MONTHS, and expansion(paid content) delivery.
Only difference? No Sub.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
@guy above me, that’s just WRONG! Please at least try such things in the current gw2 version instead just writing wrong or way outdated informations.
It doesn’t matter if you have 4, 12, 100 bonuschests.
Fact is as soon as you relog or port to a different map only 4 chests remain “blinking” and all the others will be automatically opened and their content added to your inventory!
No chest is ever lost! (only if you let them blinking and log out and delete that char, but then it is your fault^^)PS: @Sylar: At tequatl you get these bonuschests only 1x per day and only if you did enough dmg on each quarter at tequatl and if you got credit for each laser event. If you only got the exotic one, then you probably only did enough dmg on tequatl after he was lower then 25%.
Except I am not wrong, what I said is EXACTLY what happens…every time. Get YOUR facts straight.

KeePass and similar programs are, when running, as unsafe as having a text file lying around with all your passwords.
1. you dont save passwords in clear text
2. You use the timeout feature of keepass to ask for the master password again. 30-45seconds in between application access is more then enough to copy/paste your usernames and passwords. This is hardly a security issue.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Freeze content development? I know they are testing the fixed story now, and core specializations will launch before the expansion comes out. We’ve seen changes to the camera…plenty of development going on…and these things are important too.
Bug fixes are not content development, its bug fixes for issues that have existed since day 1.

to freeze content development in favor of an expansion
is what most expansion-based games do. What did you expect?
Except that GW2 is NOT an expansion based game. Its SUPPOSED to be a bi-monthly release based game (per countless PR releases via Anet in countless interviews). If they are changing the model, it would be nice to know.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
the TP timeout is to protect against bots as well as flooding the webserver with sell/buy/gem requests. its not perfect but it works.
As for password management, Keepass is the best system IMHO. Come up with a nice master password, then setup Username/Password templates in KeePass to copy/paste from between that and your Applications.
KeePass also supports SSO auto entry on application detection, with using SendKeys you can have it work with the GW2 launcher :-)
Backup the KDB file to a CDROM for a long term backup solution, and done.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
You can bank 12 chests before you don’t get credit for anymore. If you zone with 12 chests banked you lose 8, and only have access to the 4(3 on screen, 1 archived). Zoning includes logging out to the character select screen. I have tested this a lot in SW’s while farming the events.
Chests do not auto open in your inventory, you just lose the chests beyond 12 or beyond 4 when you zone.

Perfect time to reopen the SAB.
Oh this!
SAB would be a perfect Filler.Maybe one day they’ll add some content before a big project, or prep some extra stuff on the side, before wizzing off their whole team to do an expansion like this.
Must admit, I’ve pretty much almost ceased even bothering to log in for dailys. Months of “lack of content”, and no SAB in the mean time pretty much just makes me want to forget about the expansion altogether.
I have no doubt that the expansion is going to be awesome. But to freeze content development in favor of an expansion (probably because it is paid, and Anet FINALLY got real with the lack of cash flow from GW2 to sustain the game properly…ect), really leaves me thinking ‘what about AFTER we have the expansion and we are in the same boat this time next year?’.
If that is the case, the game wont last much past the first expansion. As it is, I am seeing it diminish on the WvW front by players leaving the game (No, the ones I know did not jump servers), if that is not a sign of things to come, I dont know what is.
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Let’s break it down, shall we?
Their is no need; I’m sure Anet is very conscious of their content release schedule and there isn’t anything compelling about reminding them of release dates for things. As a matter of fact …
… you have to recognize that the business model of the game is actually centered around players like you come and go on your own timetable; that’s why this game works for people. There isn’t much content you can ‘miss’ and if you do, there is still access to it. There is no reason for Anet to ensure a constant stream of new content because the business model isn’t critical to people playing the game with a constant frequency. Working as designed and intended.
Game is not stagnant just because you feel you’ve accomplished everything you want to do.
So…in short you are fine with 4-5 months of no new static content, with a possibility of 5-6 more months with no new static content before the expansion is released?
Drinking the cool aid much?
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Let’s break it down, shall we?
The last update to GW2 that was perm content was Jan13th with the ‘point of no Return’ In February we had the ‘Lunar Fest’ which lasted 4 weeks, since then nothing of great importance or meaning.
last update finally mentioned changes with Lions Arch, but still sitting and waiting for more on that.
that’s nearly 5 months with NO serious content update to the game that wasn’t a game play change or bug fix.
And you all think the game isn’t stagnant?
and we have another 5, 6, or 7 months to go before the Expansion will be released (My Best guest based on other MMO/Expansion Releases over the years). If we don’t get any Content updates between then and now that’s nearly a FULL year with no serious updates to the game.
just sayin.

Wow …….
I have been playing just about every day for anywhere from an hour a day to over 10 hours. Usually it’s 2 – 3 hrs at a time thou. I have yet to be tired of the game. I have yet to run out of things to see and do. I have not finished the PS on even one char yet and just a couple of weeks ago finally got map completion done on 1 char. And I only did it on a char because I had a precursor drop and decided to finally make a legendary for S&G’s.
I actually started 3 new chars after the NPE went into effect and have found nothing that is that bad about the leveling or anything. I have all the episodes of the LS that I got just for logging in and have not finished those either. I have gone thru 1 path of 1 dungeon, I have only done 1 fractal, I don’t PvP and very rarely do WvW.So …… I am always amused and amazed how people can be out of things to do in this game.
8 level 80’s, 2 are in full Ascended. 2 map completions, waiting on Pre drops (not holding my breathe, that is a part of the game I really refuse to ‘farm’ for), all trade skills maxed, PS completed on all characters (achievements!), FOTM level 48, WvW on my server is dead so EoTM(boring as its just a blob grind), 3 Teq Horde Skins(4-6 month drops apart from each other), VW/TEQ on farm same with the rest of the world bosses for EZ Gold – TT requires organization and timing still so that one is hit and miss yet, Dungs…boring as completed them for the collections sometime ago…ect.
Also, GW2 is over 1000 days old…did Anet not care or did they just over look that. I was kinda expecting an in game event on that day/week to celebrate lol.
anyway, now im just getting whiny :-)

Perfect time to reopen the SAB.
Oh this!
SAB would be a perfect Filler.

As above. If you insist on playing an MMO, I an suggest ESO. After a rough and messy start, the game has csystalized to a very mature MMO, that takes a very different approach by making a hybrid between a traditional mmo and the elder scroll games.
Since a few months it is buy to play, just as GW2 and more then enough for a good amount of fun.No monthly fees means easier to switch and play other games as well!
Oh, I have ESO. The physics in that game drive me insane. Like Jumping for example. its like a slow fall, rather then a Jump. And the Height at which you jump exceeds the character’s Build. Combat is OK though, very similar to Skyrim and I do like that. But, I just haven’t been pulled into ESO like I thought I was. Its a nice and dark environment, but it still feels ‘beta’ to me.

Not sure what has prompted some people to believe that if they aren’t playing GW2 every day all day as their only source of entertainment that somehow the game will disappear into obscurity.
It’s no secret that veteran players have hit a content wall. Most of us hop on for dailies, maybe some PvP, chit chat a bit, then bide our time playing something else.
It’s really no big deal and one of the best parts about GW2 is that you can take long breaks, come back, and not have fallen behind (expansion stuff excluded, obviously you will fall behind in terms of a new class / specializations).
I really, really suggest Witcher 3 in the meantime. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, and I don’t make claims like that lightly.
well take into account that us veteran players (over 1000+ days on my account) have hit that brick wall. And that the only things to do now are completely repetitive. Sure other games are out there and we do not need to be playing GW2 everyday/all day (i sure as hell don’t). But to me it feels like its been 2 months+ since anything of quality has been released.
I will be buying Witcher3 when Steam has its sale :-)
in the meantime, I am playing Tera/Fallout4
Just wanted to post this thread so that Anet knows that GW2 needs a fresh update soon. I do not see the expansion dropping before Q4 and that’s too long of a time to leave the game, content wise, alone.
just my 2cp.

Just as the title says, GW2 needs new content NOW.
I do not ‘mind’ waiting for the expansion to drop, but between then and now I might have been drawn into a different game.
I know you guys are ‘hard at work’ polishing the expansion for release, but what about those promised 2 week content deliveries we are supposed to be getting? Short of skins in the gem store, and random crappy toys ill never invest in, we are getting NOTHING.
I can only run FOTM, Kill Teq/TT, and finished the VW off soo many times before I wanna bash my head against the desk from boredum (http://s1322.photobucket.com/user/SpamMe06/media/headbang_zps2ac29901.gif.html).
So please;
1. Hurry up and release the expansion
2. give us some intern content to tide us over until you DO release the expansion.

ok what is up with that resolution? That could be why.
should be 1366×768 not 1176×664, providing the monitor supports it.

Yeah I did I want to know if I made the right choice, I can still return it if it’s not
Honestly, I would see if you can get this instead. Its a better build and comes with a 860M in at about $849USD.

you already bought this correct? so you are just looking for opinions?
best part is the HQ i7, thats a quad core. the GTX850M is average, 8GB ram is ok, I would opt for an SSD over a 1TB HDD though.

But if you aren’t looking to go Skylake or Broadwell-E or “Zen” when ever it’s due, DDR3 prices will start to rise as demand goes to DDR4. So there may be some good deals on DDR3 before manufacturers start to focus production on DDR3 in the near future.
This is soo true. Anyone who is buying a 1150 system today I am telling them to buy 16GB or 32GB of ram (fill out their DIMMs) as DDR3 is going to spike in cost with in the next year. Otherwise, wait until the DDR4 builds are ready for mainstream.

Ill just leave this here. This is a good example of whats to come out of skylake

I’ve been planning on getting an i5-6600k whenever they come out, but I’ve noticed 2500k+mobos going fairly cheaply on hardwareswap which seem pretty tempting. The only games where I’m really hurting for performance in are GW2 and GTAV; I’m only upgrading because I want to blow my money on something.
Assuming I can pick up a 2500k+mobo for $175 and sell my current stuff for $70-80, would the performance from a reasonably overclocked 2500k be worth the price or should I drive to microcenter for a 6600k later on?
There is no upgrade path from a 2500K (unless you get a Board that can accept IvyB as well as Sandy), going to a 6600K would require a new Motherboard.
Honestly, the price is nice but the 2500K and 2600K are showing their age now. They are 40%+ behind the Broadwell Desktop Chips and we are on the horizon of the Skylake releases.
But, I would buy Haswell (4690K/4790K) today, or wait for Skylake.

If it were a bus interface problem, wouldn’t the other games run terrible as well?
Not that im doubting it could be, 1.1x-4x PCI-E slots have been a prevalent issue recently.
No. We have seen it here time and time again that other games are getting 45-60FPS at 1x while GW2 barely scrapes above 20-30 at 1×. It just depends.

Fn is actually a ‘Shift’ function built into your Keyboards firmware. the OS does not see nor have access to the Fn key at all. it enables/controls dual function keys (Usually F1-F12) and thats all it does.
