Lower FPS after GPU upgrade?

It was not the thermal paste, as in your first screenshot your GPU was running at 63c~ which is with in normal limits. Its the fact you had to reseat your GPU to apply new thermal paste that fixed the issue.

For anyone else who looks at this thread as a possible fix for their own issues, Download GPU-Z and make sure the Link speed on the Bus is x16@x16 and running at version 2.0 or 3.0, if not reseat the GPU to fix it.

FWIW: since your game was locked at sub 20FPS on settings that were previously hitting 50FPS+, it sounds like the 290x was locked in a 2d clock sleep state. sometimes this can happen when the drivers flake out or when your PCIE slot is not connecting to the card correctly (yes it does happen). Since reseating the card ultimately fixed it, next time pull up GPU-Z while the game is running in a window and verify your bus link settings (should be x16 v3@ x16 v3) for most systems, x8 if you have additional PCIE cards in there. And crashing can be a symptom of this with AMD drivers due to timing issues between the driver, API, and hardware when it gets out of sync. To avoid driver crashes with AMD there is a registry change that you can do to disable ULPS

From what I have seen with this, it only affects NVidia hardware. This does happen on my GTX1060, but not on any of my GCN based AMD cards (7790, 290, 390x, FuryX)

So its probably something with the game code and Nvidia Driver settings then anything else.

Huge Lag Spikes - Dallas1.level3

Well the VPN did not work at all, I even tried the advanced version you have to pay monthly for, it lets you select your route and everything. No matter what I tried it did not work at all.

Still the same ridiculous lag spikes.

So its obvious I am still being forced through the same Dallas node just before the NC soft hops.

Not really happy that a third party can cause this big of a problem like this, but since we have next to no regulation here, companies can do what they want.

I will try to file a ticket with my Tiny ISP, its really my last resort. I am very skeptical on this working, as soon as I bring up the word “game” I will get blown off.

Of course a East Coast server would solve all my problems.

Looking at your screenshot from about 18days ago, the issue is not actually Hop 10 but rather Hop 5 where the latency starts. It also looks like you have 3 internal routers before you actually get to the internet. Hop 5 is also your ISP’s Edge so they are directly responsible for that.

The other thing, your ISP is using GTT to connect to Level 3 and there are huge latency spikes before even getting to Level 3 there. So your ISP should be able to open a Head to Head testing Ticket between their Provider Edge and the uplink partner GTT’s edge to ID what the issue is.

But the first thing that needs to get fixed is your Provider Edge on Hop 5, then Hop 6 and 7 (also really high latency) and then if the issue persists after they fix that, then a head to head ticket with GTT.

90% of the time with this level of an issue its an over subscriber issue. And usually the only real fix is to dump the ISP and go with someone else if you can.

How about an expansion that is 100% delivered on the day its launched and not staggered, nor bugged fixed, 6+ months later? After all we are paying for content that is released on that day, not months to a year later.

Honestly, unless they are going to do more of the core dragon story, I am not sure this game will ‘survive’ another expansion if they do another release just like HoT.

Crap like these Boots are the main reason I dropped back how much time I put into this game anymore. Anet could have made good by the community and added a check box. But instead they said ‘there is demand here, lets see how much $$$ we can get from Gem sales by limiting the number of drops AND making it tradable!’ and that is exactly what they did. Turned this into an exclusive item that helps drive their gem sells by .03%, as that is all they care about. The Bottom line.

And, as you asked:

This is the issue, your GPU is linked at PCIE x1. not x16 or x8.

this means your GPU only has 250MB/s going to it at the PCIE interface.

Either your slot is Very very dirty and needs to be dusted (can of air), your GPU is dirty and needs the pins cleaned (Q-Tip + Alcohol), or your GPU is in the wrong slot (Are you actually plugged into a x1 slot they are TINY compared to a full length x16 slot), and the GPU HAS to be in the longest slot closest to your CPU for DMA access reasons.

Until this is fixed, your FPS is going to be sub 20FPS.

Download GPU-Z and Ill bet you find 1 of 2 things going on.

1. GPU linked other then at x8 or x16 PCIE, and/or running at 1.1 instead of 2.0 while the game is running. You have to reseat the GPU to fix this.

2. GPU is locked in low power state. Open the Sensors and validate the Clock, Core/Memory, speeds vs what you should be getting. If they are locked to 2D states you might need to update the driver.

Now if this was WoW or EQ where players were split by alliances and NPCs attacked/KoS based on your alignment then yes this would totally work.

Too bad most “hardcore groupers” seem to spend ingame-gold instead of RL-cash.
Catering to the least profitable group 101?

I never buy gems with gold, I spend 100s of euros per year on gems
buying gems with gold is a bad use of my time

Let me ask, do you feel you get your money’s worth on Gem Purchases?

Not really, considering I could buy at least 10 full AAA games for my gem purchases

yea I kinda thought so.

The last time I bought a series of Gems was on the Heroes weapon sets (Kasmeer’s Staff, Majory’s Daggers…ect) when they were first released.

Since then I have just banked Gold into Gems on a weekly Basis, but I cant bring myself to buy anything on the store anymore. Its all just a bunch of lame stuff that will do nothing for me. Its all Glider Skins and outfits.

They need to change their direction with what they are doing here. and fast.

But what could they sell in shop to make more money without going straight up pay to win? I would like to see armor sets over outfits again, but Anet insists they are too much work

Lots of things, actually. But anything I say on the subject will start a flame war and ruin this thread :-)

But, does not have to be pay to win to be successful.

If HoT had GvG maps instead of only 1 pvp map, if the Guild Arenas were bigger and had score boards, if they didn’t stop making dungeons, if raids were accessible and had exploration, if they listened to the Desert BL feedback – merged the servers and brought back the orb, if some elite spec design didn’t suck so much (Tempest), if the living story didn’t stop for a year, if they didn’t do the legendary collections, if the class balance wasn’t terrible, if there weren’t other good MMO around…
… Then the game would be going really well.

The reason things are as they are is that the management is unable to focus the devs on what this game really needs.

Very close, the issue is they are trying to spread the game soo thin that the regular player base will be around for years to come.

The issue there, its not really working out.

But you are dead on the head of the nail there. They need to refocus their efforts and make GW2 was GW2 was supposed to be again. How it was at release is why I bought this game on pre-order after playing the Beta. so much promise.

4 years later, its like an entirely different game.

Sure ‘game play may change online’ applies, but ‘the game will change’ does not.

“What we are planning to do going forward is that we are going to shorten the span for the next launch of the expansion pack. So right now we are in the phase for preparing for the 2nd expansion pack we ae going to shorten the launch timing between the different boxes that we launch to create more momentum. "

Good to see ArenaNet doubling down with their quantity over quality strategy.

Remember, this isn’t ANet saying this but NCSOFT to analysts, which is what they want to hear. They don’t care about any of the games NCSOFT markets, just the bottom line. Don’t forget, NCSOFT said an expansion was coming a year after the game launched in a conference call.

That was on a call though, if its on paper its more tangible.
Just like the 2015 Jan 3rd Budget report that projected what the Expansion set to release was going to make, I would put more weight into something down in a Financial document then something over a conference call.

What report was that? Certainly not the Daewoo outrageous guesstimate?

I dont remember which report, but it was the one that said the est HoT sales was going to be 10,000,000. Which if you did the math, put the MSRP of HOT at 49.99, which is what it was.

So say what you want….

That was an analyst’s guestimate what the expansion was going to bring in, not anything from NCSOFT or ANet. They, Daewoo, quickly walked back that estimate within a few weeks.

And I don’t remember any White Knights here asking for an expansion. It was the naysayers who disliked living world clamored for a “traditional” expansion.

Then you really weren’t on the forums that much from 2012-2014. I can remember a handful of threads with 200-300 replies about ‘why GW2 needs an expansion’.

So yes, the player base on the forums were fighting for/against expansions prior to 2015.

And Daewoo, or whoever, marked that the Expansion was going to cost 50 bucks and so it did. Even if they back stepped they were not wrong in the MSRP that NCSoft was going to ask for it.

Much like how if there is talks about a new Exp per year for GW2 I would guess we can expect a 14-16 month cycle for expansions realistically if they do go that route.

But, I/myself, will no longer buy expansions for this game. HoT left such a poor taste for me that I refuse to take another bite from that platter. Anet/NCSoft is going to have to come up with a new content delivery scheme if they want any more of my money.

Dont necro a post that is a year old. Make a new thread with your issue.

Chances are your GPU is in 1x mode or version 1.1 power management. Load GPU-Z while GW2 is running in a window to verify. Normally the fix for that is to pull the GPU out and reseat it.

Yeah. There’s some “external” means if they really wanted to but chances are it would still fall under their policy.

It’s not. The “allowed behavior” was directed at the pets and not bypassing the idle timer by using skills on auto.

I guess that’s possible, the first post doesn’t mention auto-heal explicitly so none of the statements necessarily say anything whatsoever about auto-heal.

So then that would mean:
AFK pet farming is ok if you return before the timeout to press any key (or just allow the timeout to happen and set it up again when you have time to).
AFK pet farming may or may not be ok with auto-heal.

But yes, a clarification would be nice.

I agree with the first one but I don’t see why healing on auto cannot be used when AFK. So long as you actively do something within the idle timer window (45 min?) then I don’t see any issues with it personally.

Exactly, Now you are getting somewhere.

This is what we need clarification on. And if its ‘against the rules’ why are there no in game warnings about it? Think about that for a second.

and the active timeout, there is no place in game that says how long its for. So lets say you leave your game client AFK for 2-3 hours (as I did), where does it say that is too long to be auto AFK for? No where.

It really is very easy.
Pets killing mobs without player intervention is intended and allowed.
Loot being picked up without player intervention is intended and allowed.
Going afk is intended and allowed (even when your pets kill mobs while you are gone).
Putting your heal on auto is intended and allowed.

But like in all law/rule systems, specific rules may exist which take certain circumstances into account that turn a *combination of several allowed actions" into one forbidden action. In this specific case multiple things -which are all perfectly fine by themselves- were combined in an unintended way to faciliate “extended automated play” which has always been FORBIDDEN. ArenaNet never made an official statement what “extended” means exactly, but from what sirsquishy wrote his deliberately set up afk-farm definitely qualified as “extended”. That’s all there is to it.

Sure, Extended enough to get a 331hour suspension it seems too.

But, I still say Anet needs to just come out with a public response to the 30~ or so unique threads on this subject, once and for all.

Considering that:

Tl;dr intentional mechanics that allow pet kills to give experience and loot =/= permission to afk farm.

This is absolutely correct.

If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.

And we players who are saying this means it’s not allowed, coupled with the fact a few players are now getting suspensions even though they’re supposedly not using 3rd Party Programmes, I think it’s safe for all of us to say it’s actually not ok to AFK farm now. Which is how it should be.

The players do not decide, they just merely interpret the rules of what the GMs set.

and currently this rule is confusing.

we have a post that asks about AFK farming with pets and auto loot. we have a GM response saying ‘its allowed; its designed that way’ then we have players that are ignoring the AFK part of the question and other players that say its allowed…ect. its nothing but confusion and needs an official response.

It’s not. The “allowed behavior” was directed at the pets and not bypassing the idle timer by using skills on auto.

Except that is NOT what the GM replied to. The OP of that thread said the Ranger was AFK for HOURS, and then went on auto loot and pet killing.

They were referring to the first part of the post with clarifications in a subsequent post.

Sorry but no, the GM responded to the OP’s ENTIRE post. Not just 1 line of text from the post.

And yet

“This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.”

makes more sense when applied to

“I’ve been seeing some rangers camped on a mob spawn letting their pet kill enemies for them, is this considered a form of botting?”

than

“I know the players are AFK cause they have been there for a couple of hours.”

The dev just chose not to address that part of the post in theirs.

All you did was break up 1 statement into 2 completely separate statements. The GM responded to BOTH statements as a single issue. To take that any other way is just foolish.

I mean, do you only answer the 1/2 the of the question when its directed at you like that?

Hey, how are you, what time is it?

‘Oh Im fine.’

then nothing.

Yea, i didnt think so.

As I think everyone can agree on at least this one thing;

We NEED an official response from Anet on this.

It seems to me there is only one way to interpret the statements I’ve seen.

This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.

Is completely unambiguous, the only way to interpret this is: “yes you can”.

Is somewhat unfortunately written as there seems to be an internal inconsistency but “If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned.” seems very clearly to mean: “yes you can” as the only way to interpret it as not being allowed is to add “but being AFK while doing so isn’t” which would be unlikely given the topic.

“intentional mechanics that allow pet kills to give experience and loot =/= permission to afk farm.” can be interpreted in different ways:
1: The situation does not allow it, but the post(s) from the support lead do(es).
2: It’s not permitted but you won’t get in trouble for doing it.
3: He means you may at some point in the future no longer be able to do this.

I agree none of these are the most straightforward interpretation of that statement but one of the statements unambiguously states you can, while the second seems to agree and the third (which seems to be the most ambiguous) can be interpreted in such a way as to make it compatible with the other two.

The only reasonable conclusion seems that yes, it is allowed (or at least tolerated).

Honestly, out of all the quotes the only one that matters

This is allowed behavior;

that is what needs to be cleared up by anet. And until then, this is going to be an ongoing issue. I just hope someone from Anet steps in the middle of the debate here to set the score straight. But given how late in the day it is, I doubt that is going to happen.

They’re referring specifically to your pets/minions doing the killing. Nowhere did they state that you could use skills on auto to bypass the idle timer. Refer to the following image.

You aren’t reading it clearly are you? Players are being said they are AFK pets killing auto loot going. Sure auto skills are not mentioned but that IS another in game mechanic just like pets and auto loot. its all in the same scope of work here.

botting and 3rd party mentions are only if you are using an external interface to play the game for you (macros, timed macros, Programs…ect) None of which apply here.

Nice try, but try again.

All that they said was that it is okay to have your pets do the killing. They did not give you permission to auto AFK for extended periods of time by circumventing the idle timer by using skills on auto.

And again, refer to the attached image.

You should know that I would come back to my console after 2-3 hours to check on bags to salv greens/blues…ect, and sometimes my client was disconnected back to character select or even all the way out to the launcher. I was not going a full 100% AFK, and the game was doing its job to kick my accounts off the maps. The Auto Heal skill only does so much.

And yet you circumvented the idle timer and stayed on 2-3 times longer than intended, while AFK, and using your pets/minions to gain a benefit on top of that.

Yup, using an ingame Anet provided mechanic.

Which was misused in an unintended way like many exploits.

Its only an exploit if it is unintended to be used at all. In which case Anet can block auto cast on the healing slot. But they dont/wont as its a mechanic that the druid and a few other builds use during raids/heavy PvP content.

so no, you are wrong. yet again.

They won’t block it likely because it has actual intended uses such as auto casting during a fight.

Which makes it NOT an exploit.

show me input that says its not allowed. I can show you GM posts that say its permitted and ‘as designed’.

The post you’d point to only says it’s okay and designed to combine auto-loot with pet kills… it DOES NOT SAY it’s okay to step away from your keyboard for long periods of time while doing it.

You have NOTHING you can point to that says otherwise. Nothing you’ve quoted says what you claim it does.

I was in a bandit camp in a mountain not bothering anyone, stopping anyone from doing quests. just like a bunch of other players. GM’s posted saying thats ok, its intended.

that IS the bottom line.

You broke the rules, you got punished. That IS the bottom line.

~EW

This isn’t about what I did to get ‘punished’ this is about the GMs being all on the same page and how confusing it is getting with what is being said on forums from the GMs vs what is actually happening in game.

If this is not allowed behavior then they need to post about it to negate the posts that say its allowed. And they are not doing that.

Personally, the can ban me at this point and I wouldn’t give a kitten. As once LS3 is here, if the game feels like it does today for me I am uninstalling. But until then, I will fight based on principal when I feel the company is doing wrong. They need to be held accountable for their actions. Many players are affected by this, not just me. There is a much bigger picture here that goes way beyond just this AFK farming aspect.

I know your world is small and you can only focus on what you are doing, but for a min think about what this is really about and stop making acquisitions that do not matter in the slightest.

show me input that says its not allowed. I can show you GM posts that say its permitted and ‘as designed’.

Refer to the following (and also the OP):

Anything that automates game play to the point where you are able to not actually play the game as-intended (example: you can walk away from it) is considered a breach of the User Agreement.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Has-there-ever-been-an-official-response-on-what-is-considered-botting/first#post204144

When trying to refute that, find a post of Anet stating that it is okay to use skills on auto to circumvent the auto-disconnect timer.

I will see your post from 3 years ago and rise you a pst from 30~ days ago

‘I’ve been seeing some rangers camped on a mob spawn letting their pet kill enemies for them, is this considered a form of botting? I know the players are AFK cause they have been there for a couple of hours.’

Anet’s response – This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ranger-Pet-Botting/first#post6085601

and

Anet’s Repsonse – If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ranger-Pet-Botting/page/3#post6093187

So, beat that. I really want you to. Cause as far as I am concerned (and as far as the community should be as well) its permitted until a newer official post is presented.

until then, Anet is at fault and they need to address this once and for all. One way or the other.

Whats the definition of a 3rd party program?

A program that is not provided by anet themselves. E.g Autohotkey, GW personal assistant , overwolf etc. Things like that.

They aren’t against 3rd party tools in general just ones that allow you do do things in game that you shouldn’t be able to, e.g a key that does multiple things, teleporting around a map.

There are 2 types of 3rd party though.

You can use autoHotkey and macro bases, but they cannot do more then 1 function per key press.

the other type are 3rd party programs that inject data streams to give an unfair advantage (such as ‘flying’ instant teleport, walking through walls) those are what the 3rd party ToS is really about.

So, you are AFK farming, which any reasonable person would assume is suspect, you chose to ignore a lot of input which says it isn’t allowable, and you made a mistake.

And now you feel an Anet employee should be fired over the mistake you made?

I think you need to take a huge step back.

show me input that says its not allowed. I can show you GM posts that say its permitted and ‘as designed’.

you need to take a step back. AFK farming in PVE that is NOT on an event map (such as SW) has been tolerated since the start of the game. However what is not permitted/tolerated is PVP, WvW, and some Event AFK farming. Also Botting (what 3rd party is all about).

what does =/= mean on your world?

What does it mean on your world?

2 posts where GM’s are saying the ingame mechanics allow for it are intended.

thats all the proof we need here.

If the GM’s and game’s management team cannot be on the same page here, its just going to get worse over time. They have 3-4 VERY CLEAR posts from GM’s saying this behavior is allowed and intended as long as the in game mechanics are used. yet they have a rogue string of GM’s doing whatever they want not following the message that was publicly released. Just goes to show what state Arena Net is STILL in here.

no wonder Anet’s/NC Softs servers are getting DoS attacked, the company is just HORRIBLE.

Mesmer getting wrecked in HOT

in Players Helping Players

ikereid.4637

For Mesmer the biggest advantage is to use your stuns. When I powered through HoT on my mesmer I ran a hyrbid Stun/Mantra healing build.

Sword/Sword
Greatsword

Trait up so when you stun you gain Boons and so that your stuns do damage. Then take the healing line so you can heal from your Mantra’s and cleanse Condi.

On your SW/SW I suggest using Bloodlust and the +15% stun duration, since that will be the main thing you use for sword 4 (very low cool down, and has a inline stun)

You can use staff instead of GS but the stun has a much longer CD and requires mobs to stand in the AOE circle.

And then I suggest taking 560~ healing so that when you pop mantras (power break recharge) you heal for 2,000 health or so, and so that when you get regen from the Boon share on stun you regen more per tick.

I ran the rest of my stats as Berserker so I could actually kill things in a timely manner, but you could run PVT if you needed for extra padding.

The CPU can be a huge problem. CPUs handle AI management and all computing. The older it is, the worse it does.
In terms of needing to use low quality graphics, that’s the GPU. GPU handles all rendering of textures etc.
You wont really get much for $130. Well not something to make the game look great and play smooth.

I agree on waiting for next Gen to drop the prices.
But I say save up and get a new PC all together. As if you have a really bad CPU, and a good GPU the pc will handle poorly and bottleneck.

How to deal with this ?

Thanks

Ask your ISP for a new IP address, or force your router to pull a new DHCP if you are not running a static. Disable any DYNDNS type hostnames that are auto updating, or any Phone home software that publicly broadcasts your IP address on the fly.

Make sure you are not running any network applications such as bit torrent and other P2P stuff (Even Skype and teamspeak)…ect

Then return to GW2 and see if the issue persists.

If someone is getting your IP (via GW2 servers its impossible unless its someone from the inside), they are probably using something common you are using with them (EVEN TEAMSPEAK!) and pulling your IP that way. Then they are probably using ION to DOS you from a small botnet.

The thing is, if you are getting DOS as you believe then you will completely go down until the DOS stops. Unless you are running a enterprise grade router (Cisco, Juniper, ect) your SOHO crap cannot handle a simple SYN Flood and cache out its memory banks to allow for normal traffic flow. Normally SOHO crap will just reboot, over and over, until the DOS is over due to Page faults and other things that type of equipment will suffer from.

But since you are saying that your 85Mb/s connection drops down to 10Mb/s, you are not getting attacked or DoS’d but rather probably just massively infected or running a Killer NIC in your machine with QOS enabled for ‘gaming’.

I’ve got a small question that I hope some of you might be able to answer.
I have this problem that I my gw2 seems to run at a max. of 15 fps.

My computer has 2 graphic cards (AMD Radeon HD 8650G and AMD Radeon HD 8970M) of which the latter seems to be capable enough to run this game smoothly.

My processor is an AMD A10-5750 APU with Radeon HD graphics 2.50 GHz
and 8 Gb of RAM.

Also it’s a 64 bits operating system and x64 processor.

Any help is appreciated as I don’t know alot about these things.

Actually, that is pretty much the expected performance for those specs.

for one, the HD8970M is equivalent to a HD6770M, so do not expect to run High Textures on this GPU with the current content in the game.

The A10-5750 is another part of the issue. For one, its base clock is 2.5Ghz with a Turbo up to 3.5Ghz, but the Turbo only affects one Core at a time and only when thermal temps are with in a certain range. The other part of the issue is that its using AMD’s Module design, where it has 2 Modules with 2 FPU units and 4 Interger’s, so in reality its actually a dual core CPU.

I had a HP DV6z-6c00 for a long time, it was an A8-3510MX with a HD8970M (Same GPU you have). I was able to overclock the CPU from the stock 1.5ghz up to 2.4Ghz and was able to get double to triple the performance. But I could never push the graphical settings due to the GPU being as weak as it really was. Running the game on medium settings (Character Textures on High) and character limit on Low or Lowest, I was able to get 45FPS in citys and 65-70FPS in the open world before HoT was released. In Hot I would expect 30FPS at max due to how complex those zones are graphically wise.

In reality, you need a better laptop.

The Min specs will vary based on Content though. Min specs for HoT are different then they are for the base game due to the depth of the HoT maps and the NPC (Mobs too) positioning and Clustering along with the varying player populations.

IMHO, Min specs are as follows

Win7 x64 or Win10 x64
G3220 or G3258
8GB of system ram
240G SSD (Map loading is Terrible on HDDs)
Intel HD4600 or R7 240, or GTX730
1600×900 up to 1920×1080 Resolutions.

The main limiting factor is that character limit setting here. But with those specs you can expect 30-40FPS on Max Graphical settings(Sampling Native, Shadows Medium or High, and Reflection on Terrain) with the Check boxes below the drop downs disabled for the moderately populated HoT Maps. During Boss fights you can expect sub 24FPS performance though due to those specs using dual Core CPUs.

crashed trying to log back in after taking a break. http://pastebin.com/EqBYpK4S

If you can, update to win10 x64 and use the 64bit game client.

Also make sure your AMD drivers are actually up to date. I know that win10x86 is having driver issues with Nvidia and AMD. So pull down the latest AMD driver and install it.

I have the same issue and guys please don’t tell us it’s our pcs, because it’s not. Fps is dropping completely randomly without any reasons, I’ve been experiencing this problem since april update. Here I am doing the first path of hotw, the last boss, bam, 20 fps, slideshow. I relog and everything is fine, but I wish relog could always help. Sometimes nothing helps, like atm I have fine fps at heart of mists, then I switch to queensdale, fps drops, switch to any other location, fps still drops. It’s definitely something wrong with the game itself, not player’s setups.

This makes me think your .dat file is damaged. Have you run a -repair against the launcher to verify the consistency of your DAT file to rule that out?

Best GPU for GW2

If you do not need 4GB of vRAM get a GTX950 instead. They are 130~ on newegg and will push GW2 at 100FPS+. The ONLY thing the GTX960 offers above the GTX950 is the 4GB vRAM, the 950’s only come in 2GB flavors.

Additionally, the 380x is the next step up before you get into the GTX970. The 380X is the BEST mid range card on the market, and are about 229~

Pascal was just announced yesterday, they are going to release a GTX1070 and GTX1080 and they are saying both will beat out a TitanZ (which is a GM200 based card just like the 980Ti) with the GTX1080 being 599 and the GTX1070 being 379. So this is another option if you can wait about 2-3 months for retailers to get them on hand.

Personally, I am playing with the idea of a GTX1070 IF benchmarks place the card at or above the GTX980 in performance, as the GTX1070 is going to offer 8GB GDDR5 RAM and cost below 400.

Taking this ‘as is’ for system specs, but it looks like the laptop comes with an i7-4710HQ CPU, 16GB of ram and a Nvidia GTX970M with your LCD at 1080p (I hope its not the 4k resolution version)

The best thing you can do is turn your character limits down to Low or Lowest as it is a Mobile CPU after all.

The 2nd thing you can do, if you are running windows 10, is to disable auto driver updates in your windows update settings and then roll back to the driver released back in February. There have been numerous reports of Driver issues with the 970M and 980M and windows updates from Win10. You can always reapply a factory (Nvidia) based driver from the latest updates to see if windows just doesnt have a good latest and that is what is slowing you down as well.

But spec wise, unless you are running 4K, your laptop should be able to handle every setting on Max except the character limit (no laptop can run higher then Medium with 60FPS~ being the goal)

S: Make Legendary Armor an Outfit

wow you guys can READ!

I am impressed

/golfclap

But it would be nice if Legendary items were not bound to weapon type/Class IMHO.

Armor (maybe not as an outfit, as mix matching is important and we should not move away from that) – Any class can use any Legendary armor set as Skins only (induce Charges)

Weapons – 2h, Mh, Oh should be skinnable on any of those types. You want Twilight on your Ele instead of a stupid staff skin? Sure, why not?! After all every Class model is already modeled with every weapon type. So its doable with what we have in game now.

If they did that, Then I would do a few legendary’s. But IMHO, other then the skin, Legendary’s are just not worth it to me right now. Ascended fills the Gap.
