Screenshots SS1 and SS2 are at 5040×900, the first is with Shaders and Shadows Set to medium, the Second is Ultra settings.

Granted its at the QD Boar champ, but still should give you an idea of performance gaps from a single display to 3.

SS4 is 1600×900 everything turned to full but Shaders, they are set to Medium.

I know it’s so easy to generalize and bash AMD CPUs, especially the FX series, with this game. Some of that is due to player misconceptions that more cores automatically mean every app will run faster or not understanding, blame AMD marketing, that FX cores are considerably slower one on one compared to Intel’s. Sure AMD’s 8 core can give Intel’s two generation old quad a good run in certain heavily multithreaded apps but it’s hardly universal and seemingly never in games unless the game is GPU bound.

To the average neophyte DIYer the question is black and white, Intel good, AMD bad. I applaud your defense of a platform that seen it’s best days behind it which doesn’t mean it’s automatically horrible.

Since this is an upgrade for low cost situation getting an Phenom II or FX quad or hex core like the FX-4350 or -6350 and OC the kitten out of it with a decent after market cooler is probably the cheapest route for the OP.

The fact the kneejerkers come in, blow past “on a budget” notion and scream about how AMD sucks and Intel rules is sad.

its really not about AMD vs Intel, its about this one poster saying he is getting 30FPS in WvW (when he is not) on a Phenom II using ultra settings.

As for the OP; the best advice is to hold up and save $$$ until he can afford a better solution.

However, the end result is if building for GW2 buy Intel otherwise build AMD’s FX series (better at Multi-Threading).

But with how Anet is releasing content for GW2 and the lack of ‘interesting’ stuff to do. I don’t see GW2 being around in the main stream for that much longer. So, I would NOT build with GW2 in mind, I would build for the next-gen game that ‘you’ would be into.

The shots taken were targeted for lowest results to emphasize worst case scanario.

How would that even be CLOSE to a worst case scenario?

‘worst case’ would be something like 3 map zergs fighting over a garri in a BL, not 15 people in a mediocre champ train.

Edit: An ‘average’ scenario where the computer is actually stressed would be a pair of 20-30 person zergs fighting.

This!

But, I am not saying your system isnt optimized nor running at the peak for your Hardware. Just that you are kinda giving people false hope here. You CAN get good/OK performance out of the game with older hardware. Ive seen it myself. BUT when it comes to WvW, all bets are off. Even some Boss Events in PvE, all bets are off.

How about this;

First set your settings, and dont change them after you set them, then..

Goto MAW during your servers World Boss Train. take some Screenshots of your FPS when that zerg of 60+ are killing the shaman.

Goto WvW-EB, during Peak Playing times, find the Commander and follow him around for a bit. taking screenshots when there are more then 8 other players on the screen

Goto LA, look at the MF from the Way point. Again, screenshot

now, goto Troll Cave in QD, and take a couple screenshots

Go back to Boar for Updated Screenshots.

and we’ll see just how well those Phenom II’s actually run.

its hard to say what resolution will work with your rig. With mine I know that 5060×900 works just fine (4800×900 due to bezel correction). You might be fine with the 1080p, or 1440, but you wont know until you buy into it.

But I can say this, performance good or not. The Ultra-Wide screen is very awesome in MOST games.

Really not worth spending that much on one of those pre-overclocked AMD cpu’s.(iirc they are just 8320’s with a overclock) Also those overclcoked FX 9 series CPU’s only work on certain motherboards that are ratted for the insane TDP those CPU’s have.

If ur gunna spend around that much money you would be better of getting a 3570k or 4670k + Motherboard. It would perform much better in GW2, specialy if OC’d.

In LA with max settings (except reflections becouse bugged) you could get around 35 FPS in the worst case with a OC’d Intel CPU. And AMD FX series cpu like the 8350 or that OC’d one, would get around 15 FPS less.

I have to second this!

A i5-4670K +Z87-G45 Motherboard ran me 420~ after taxes
A HD7790 ran me 107 after taxes

I reused the rest of my old system, AM3 Phenom II X6….ect, to rebuild. And Havent Looked back.

I would say, go barebones, get the same setup. Cheap CL9 DDR3 1333 Ram (2×4GB would be fine) and a cheap 500G HDD. If you have a PC already you dont need an optical drive, just get a 4g or 8g USB Flash stick, and use that to install windows.

A PSU+Case should only run you 40-50 bucks in total. You should be able to run that entire rig on a 400w PSU (most cases that come with PSUs are rated at or near 400w).

So, the list;

I5-4670K – 219~
MSI Z87-G45 – 179~
HD7790 107~
PSU+case 34.99-49.99
500G SataIII hdd – 49.99

that is what I would do :-)

You NEED to be using an Antivirus program

Download Avast! Free, and run a full system scan.

Download Malwarebytes, and run a full system scan.

that is the first thing you need to do. The internet is too volatile to be running unprotected.

yea, the FX9 is an overclocked version of the FX8. But if the OP wasnt open to OC’ing, then the extra cost ‘might’ be worth it.

Same goes between the FX8320 and FX8350.

:-)

Yeah, I double checked the prices and yanked that out because some of the FX9’s are close enough in price to potentially be worth it. I hadn’t looked at them in a while, so I was running with somewhat out of date information.

Ah Gotcha! yea, I was looking at the FX9 prices over the weekend and was surprised at how they fell so quickly. being Xmas season and all I should have expected it.

Will it help if I add another similar card? or will the performance be lower?

This game does not do to well with SLI/CrossFire. I ran CrossFire for a while, but the gains vs the power drain was not worth it.

So I run on a single card now.

Can anybody post a link or a vid or running 5760×1080p benchmarks for Guild Wars 2? I’ve tried to search for GW2 benchmarks on T1 WvW fights running on 5760×1080p but my Googling powers have failed me.

I am asking because I am torn between getting a 2560×1440p monitor or getting triple 24’s for a 5760×1080p setup. I am not sure though if Nvidia Surround is a good idea on SLI for Guild Wars 2. I only play Guild Wars 2 and occasional DotA 2 perhaps to relieve the stress on my eyes from WvW. FPS games are not for me though, I bought the idea of triple monitors already.

I also wanted to know if it would affect my WvW experience like drop so much or something else drastic. I am running on a 4.5Ghz i5 3570K with a GTX 780 and lousily using a 766 monitor. I have accepted the fact hat if I go for the 5760×1080 setup, I need to add another similar card.

If you are going to ultra-wide screen and span monitors like that, expect a 50% cut off your current performance. And that’s being generous.

I run a Triple Display setup on my system. 5060×900 (3x 1600×900 LED Monitors). And while the performance takes a huge Hit, being on an arrow cart in WvW with that wide of a range of view….its completely priceless and worth the performance hit.

But Ill tell ya a little Trick I figured out a while back.

Setup your Triple Monitors as extended Displays. Hit your Windows Key + P, choose Clone. Now setup your Triple Monitors for Surround/EyeFinity. Set GW2 to Windowed Mode – Full Screen.

Now, when you NEED/want to switch between Extended (1080p) and Surround (Ultra Wide) just hit Windows+P and choose between the two. Since GW2 is windowed and full screen it will auto re-size based on what display profile you select :-)

Look through my past posts on the issue. I have plenty of screen shots on this forum demonstrating 30-40 frames in large zerg scenarios running on my system.

Your definition of ‘large zerg’ must be absolutely patheic.

Oh look, it is.

Neither of those even APPROACH a large zerg. Come back when you can keep a decent framerate in an actual zerg, not a group of 10-15 people.

Not to mention, you’re running a lower resolution, which takes some strain off the GPU for GPU-intensive activities.

LMAO You beat me to it!!

One of the screenshots is at boar….BOAR!

The other is basically facing a wall in a cave.

But, Ill give him this, running his Rig on those settings. that’s a decent Frame rate.

But I DARE him to go into WvW, Follow a commander around that has 18-25 other players in the Zerg, get in massive combat with all the particle effects rolling, THEN retake those screenshots he’s Oh so proud of :-)

You say 16x and 2×. But did you verify that your Graphics card is actually Linked at 16x or atleast 8x? Some boards will remove Lanes off the first PCI-E slot to make room for the lanes on the other PCI-E slots (called Lane Sharing).

My MB does this across all 3 PCI-E slots. And its why I can only have 1 PCI-E card, I need my HD7790 to Link at 16X for the best Performance.

Disable Turbo Boost, That did more for me then disabling HT.

Then download the following;

CPU-Z
GPU-Z
CoreTemp

and Use them to level out your performance. Ideally you want to see 80% CPU usage, less then 90% GPU usage, and a good 55-60C for the Temp per core, with the game on medium Settings.

and adjust your Graphic settings until your GPU is less then 90% utilized.

A phenom II is PLENTY for this game.

If you can get a 965 to 4.1ghz(easy) you should effectively get the same performance as buying a top of the line $350 AMD FX-9590 in this game.

I max the game out with super sampling on and keep above 30 fps in WvW running a Phenom II 965 x4 at 4.3ghz and keep above 100fps if i turn limiting off in most game areas.

I Highly doubt you get even CLOSE to that 30FPS when there are more then 8 players on the screen.

I run an i5-4670K OC to 4.8Ghz now (Water Cooled), and I will sustain 30FPS in a heavy player setting (20-30players on the screen). And I do that with Native sampling.

OP – Dont listen to this poster, its full of miss information. DO yourself a HUGE favor and either get on an AM3+ System with a FX9-series or a Socket 1150 (4th Gen) and either a i5-K or i7-K. GW2 or not, its the way to go if your going to gut your system and replace the MB/CPU anyway.

AMD will set you back 350-450
Intel will set you back 390-475 (my i5 cost me 420 after taxes).

Ascended Armor

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

I did buy a set of six recipes for the future, but after taking a glance at the (mostly) two point stat difference for hands, feet, and head, I think I’ll pass. Besides, as a ranged staff ele, the critical damage difference is 1% for the entire set (4% for the pants).

Also, transmutation crystals aren’t cheap (in terms of gold). Sure, we can possible boost that two point difference to maybe a seven point difference, but in my opinion, it costs too much resources for such a minimal gain…

Also, I don’t really like the visuals (if the human female light armor used Anise’s coat armor skin, I’d probably lose alot of gold just for the skin).

Edit: it’s 4% on the pants, not 3.

And this right here is why I refuse to put ANYTHING into a grind for GW2’s Ascended armor/weapons/Trinkets.

If I cannot ‘just pick up’ that extra 5-8% by doing my normal play routine, I certainly am not going to go out and grind away HOURS of game play for it. This isn’t Everquest, WoW, or any other MMO. We don’t need that top tear BiS crap to be competitive (thank god). That is the ONE thing Anet did right with the ascended Armor/Items.

But the grind, is not right.

I can understand it for Legendary stuff, as you are grinding out for a very specific reason. But for Ascended, I just don’t understand why the player base is willing to put up with it, and agree to buy into this BS around the ascended gear.

400-500 in any trade is what, 219G on average.
Time Gated crafting parts
and for what?
a total of 10-15 + all to stats?

No thanks, they can keep it.

I think Aegis should be activated like Dodge, and not passive, for one. (Sorry guards)

For another, we should have the ability to change its appearance and Color. It’s a tell for other players when Block is up. So its a key part of the game for WvW/PvP. If you are able to hide it, that makes players waste skills that would otherwise be blocked. Can’t have that.

Solution: (Change display setting to “full screen windowed” mode)

It seems no one wanted to help me, so after a few days of unplugging my external display every single time I wanted to visit a new area, I tried fooling around with the settings a bit and stumbled upon a very simple solution.

By going into options and changing display settings to “full screen windowed” mode all my problems seem to have gone away. The game still plays normally and looks exactly the same (no windows bar around perimeter of play screen), and now I no longer need to worry about unplugging my monitor or possibly having to hard reset when it crashes and starts flickering.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Thats an easy one.

1st, update your HD4000 Drivers from the reference drivers that are provided from Intel.

2nd, set the external Monitor to be your Primary Display.

Games/Applications that run in full screen mode try and ‘home’ to the default monitor. If you are gaming on a laptop and want to ‘default’ the game to a external, you need to either set the display options in the game to home to the 2nd Display. Or if the option isn’t there, you need to do it in windows.

I have 16 gigs of ram and am running windows home premium 64 bit so that’s not the issue.

—> System Memory <—
Physical: 9373MB/16336MB 57%
Paged: 24302MB/32671MB 74%
Virtual: 214MB/ 4095MB 5%

CommitLimit: 32671MB
CommitPeak: 8434MB
SystemCache: 10050MB
HandleCount: 41111
ProcessCount: 107
ThreadCount: 1464

What are you DOING that would use 9.3GB of ram while playing GW2? Maybe the issue is based on the fact your using ALOT of memory ON TOP of playing GW2?

The only time I have seen a system using 50% of 16GB of ram is running virtual software, which can cause I/O Issues with some picky applications (Such as Running VMware workstation, 50% of physical memory Allocated, and running a Game that wants more then 50% of ram).

Just saying, you need to look at your system’s running applications here and find out what is going on.

Also, 8.3 committed but 9.3 allocated? you are swapping memory to disk. With 16GB of ram, I would disable the system page file (its not needed).

@TheCrimzonJester
The folder contents is exactly the same for me. Sizes matches (only the .dat is slighty different). It is my only folder too. I checked my registry to see if there were pointers to other locations, but none that I could detect (from my searches using expected terms like guild, ncsoft and anet).

Meanwhile the game keeps crashing on WvW. Same pattern. Too many players in an area, game starts to lag (not only mine, you can hear people complaining on the TS channel) and then the error screen pops.

There are ONLY 3 Files that GW2 needs to run.

gw2.exe
gw2.dat
gw2.tmp

gw2.dat = Core of the game. This is the file that usually causes issue with ‘read’ errors like you are seeing.

did you run the repair parameter against the EXE yet? That will sync and clean up gw2.dat to make sure its in good health.

Next, are you running an SSD? if so, is the SSD in good health? Does it have TRIM Support, is the NAND reporting OK?

If its not on an SSD, is your HDD in good health(SMART), is your filesystem Clean? how about Fragmentation?

and lastly, have you tested your Memory for Errors? If you have bad ram, that can cause issues with programs like GW2 that ultimately use some form of database structure to run.

I do not believe that GW2 stores anything in the registry.

Profile data is stored at C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2

Nvidia Quadro K1000M Graphics Card

I know, that’s why I’m redirecting them to Alienware.

What is your price point?

While I agree that FireGL and Quadro cards are specifically for CAD like applications, if you can get in a precision workstation for a good price I would take that above other options.

Right now, the best Precision workstation for the price is the M6700. It lists at 2400, and has a discount of about 670 on it (You can get it for about 1500). Comes with a Quadro K5000, which is close in performance to the Nvidia 680 GTX, 3rd Gen I7 and can take 32GB of ram. I ordered 6 of them for work a couple months back and had the chance to Test Gw2, Diablo3, and a few other games on them. And for the price (at the time) it was well worth it, IF you needed the optimizations that the quadro brings to the table.

otherwise, stick to alienware. It will be cheaper then the Precision. and most of the XPS builds are as sturdy as the Precision.

I have used Dell Precision workstations since 2000 and I have yet to have even my oldest one fail on me. Used to Play Everquest on my M50 with a Nvidia Quadro 700GL(Ti4200), then used my M70 with a FX1400 to play WoW….ect.

But, They are good machines and last a good 4-6 years before needing an upgrade to keep up with newer games.

Suggestion for Season 2

in WvW

ikereid.4637

Better solution – Treat the WvW Season like NBA. You have a Preseason.

Start of the Preseason – Lock out ALL Server Transfers. Preseason lasts 2 weeks (Should be a LS Release, IMHO), Each Match up lasts 24hours (2:30a is when it starts). Every server rolls against every server. No Server based Rewards, Rewards are given to Players via LS.

Season starts the Friday on the end of the Preseason. Servers are Tiered based on the Preseason, Metrics consist of Total PPT, Average daily WvW population and peak WvW population(Numbers taken during US/EU Peak times and Oceanic Peak Times). Start of new LS, with Server based Ranking rewards. Lasts 4 Weeks, each match up lasts 72hours.

Something Along those lines is what we need to fix the season, based on the current Season Disaster.

PvE ascended armor in WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

If you are doing WvW correctly, you are NOT getting that many Mats (T6 OR Ascended). The players that are ‘farming’ are the ones that cause issues for the other players in WvW.

Those that are defending, building up Siege, planning and placing upgrades. Get NOTHING towards crafting Ascended Gear.

The way WvW rewards players is very broken. You only get rewards if you go on the offensive, and either Camp Flip to take towers and keeps. In the current Meta/Season this was not always possible in the silver league during ‘players hour’. Sure you can camp Flip (if your roaming team of 4-6 didn’t encounter a zerg on their way to Hills or Bay), but Forget trying to take a tower or keep.

But, GW2 is not only WvW, its also PvE. And That is how rewards here are handed out (via Both). So those of you that expect to only be in WvW, expect to be getting the short end of the stick there.

However, between my once a week ‘world Boss train’ farm, and my Nightly (4-6hours on average) WvW participation I have STACKS and STACKs of the Ascended Materials. I just have yet to craft any of that garbage (Sorry, I don’t agree with Ascended, 5-10% above Exotics with the time/Crafting Investment, Don’t think so).

So, why are you all complaining exactly? There are numerous ways to obtain what you are after. Just put the PvE hat on ONCE A WEEK, and you’ll be good to go.

Posing from Singapore, I have brought the heroic digital edition few days ago, up till yesterday, I manage to squeeze out time to start playing, feeling excited as I have checked alot of reviews and noted that Anet has been actively updating new content every 2 weeks which is a superb thing for MMO.
At the start of creating the character, everything is smooth, the nightmare started after my character was created, as soon as my character spawn in the game world, I am disconnected (how i know? there is no response to any npc or mobs interactions, plus I have been playing MMO for years) Error code=7:11:3:191:101 has been keep poping up on every attempt to log in to the game world, I gave out after more than half hour of trying. I have tried restarting the computer, the internet but I am still disconnecting like crazy.
Do note that: I have alot other MMO games in my computer but they do not have any connection issues.
I felt that I was cheated to buy this game, as the connection sucks big time and I am unable to play at all. Disconnected in less than a minute.

Please assist in solving this Error code=7:11:3:191:101 issues (I have gone through the tech support site) it seems that you are not interested to aid on this issues but I am more than happy to try out the methods you suggest to fix this issues but if you are unable to provide any solution , you can just refund my money.

What server did you choose as your Home server? Maybe try Guesting on a server that’s closer to you geographically (Singapore)?

Save your money for now. Its not really worth it to upgrade with that CPU you have. While you could get a better GPU, you will still have issues because of your CPU.
You have 150 right now, if you can wait until you have 300, the first thing I would do is upgrade your CPU and motherboard.

Radeon 5770 Graphics card overheating problem

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

Games will not directly cause hardware to overheat.

however programs such as EVGA Precision can IF it is increasing the voltage above what the card should be at and what the default cooler can handle.

So check ur cards current running voltage. Also check the card physicaly for dust, make sure the fans are working. Check/create a custom fan profile using a program Like EVGA Precision.

If all that fails then apply new TIM to the GPU.

If that fails then u have a problem.

What he said.

But what I would do is uninstall all the AMD software/drivers, and uninstall stuff like MSI Afterburner(or whatever you MIGHT be using for Overclocking). Pull the Card from your Computer and check the Fan and make sure the Heatsink is still firmly attached (some of the 5770’s used Plastic Clips to hold the heatsink in place, if the card is overheating like that maybe one of the Clips came loose?)

Then Air dust the card to make sure there is no dust and buildup around the card. Air dust your PCI-E slot, and the power Connector on the back of the card then reseat the card and reinstall your drivers.

And with default settings, run your game(s) and test for Temps (GPU-Z>Sensor tab).

Feirlista Xv.1425 -

A heatpipe actually contains liquid. Although it’s rare to happen; where the seal is can sometimes develop a leak. Once the liquid evaporates, the heatpipe is no longer able to cool effectively and must be replaced.

This is true, But those heat pipes are welded/Fused Closed. The only way the Liquid could escape is if the laptop was Dropped.

OP – to rule out the HeatPipe, you can get a replacement on Amazon/Ebay for usually under 20bucks. Team that with IC7, as I previously recommended, and that should be a solid solution to your Temp issues.

Hi there, looking for an upgrade myself. That INTEL CORE I5 3570K looks a good candidate, found one around 180€ plus about 70€ for a board and it’s kept under my budget.

I really don’t think i’ll be tinkering with overclock, i really want a rig to setup and forget really.

On the other hand though, i’m worried about my GPU, how does a AMD Radeon HD 6670 fair in all of this? Can it keep up the gain in cpu (major change from a Dual-Core E5300 @ 2.6Ghz)?

6670 is medium to low and is a Budget GPU. If your only looking to spend 100~ try and get a HD7790. It wont do Ultra for GW2, but its 3-4x’s better then that 6670.

nooooo.

It will certainly play GW2 ‘almost’ as good as can be done atm, but u wont get 30-40 FPS in WvW zergs, no computer can manage that..not unless u turn culling to lowest/lowest so that u cant see 75% of said zergs.

Depening on ur culling settings ull get anywhere from 15 -35 FPS. Personaly i sugest having culling on Highest/Medium or Highest/Low and that ‘should’ net u around 20-35 FPS in most zerg casses. Some very big zergs could drop lower.

There’s a reason GW2 is known as one of the worst optimised games currently available. The game cant handle what the developers are throwing at it (WvW/loads of players in one place)

No Computer can get 40FPS in WvW Zergs. Even on Lowest settings. DO NOT BUILD AROUND WvW ZERGS people.

You are running a Trinity APU in that laptop. Almost the best one for the Family.

The best upgrade for you is going to run about $230 on ebay. Its the A10-4600M. The MAIN difference is the Graphics. You run a HD7640G, while the 4600M runs the HD7660. The Difference between the HD7640G and the HD7660G is pretty big.

Here are some Benches on the 7660G
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7660G.69830.0.html

And here are some Benches on the 7640G
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7640G.69836.0.html

Now, with that being said. I would ONLY put the cash into this upgrade under the following Circumstances.

1. You cannot afford a new laptop for about 800.
2. Your Current Laptop already has the following
SSD, 8GB+ RAM, 1080P Screen

If you upgrade, also get IC Diamond7 Thermal Paste and use that during the APU Upgrade.

After its all said and done, you will also want to take a look at K10Stat for really getting the best bang for your Buck out of that APU. It lets you undervolt, overvolt, and force the Multiplier to go above the defaults.

I run a Llano APU Laptop. Mine has a dedicated HD7690M, teamed with the APU’s 6620G. I can get about 65FPS in the open World when I push my CPU to 2.8Ghz, and 15FPS in WvW when there are 30+ Players around. and in LA looking at the Fountain 27-30FPS. with your Upgrade option, you can expect that +10%~. But My Laptop also runs at 80c’s under 90% Load.

Dont download it twice, its a waste of time. After the Game is downloaded, Copy it to a USB HDD, or USB 32g Flash Drive. Then you can easily move the game files from one system to another.

Then at that point, you run gw2.exe from the folder, it downloads and installs the Launcher data into appdata, and you dont need to download 16GB of data again.

sounds like the heatspread across the CPU/GPU has dried up and is either cracked or separated.

You need to tear your laptop apart, remove the CPU/GPU Cooler, get some IC-Diamond7, and reapply the Thermal Paste. And while your in there, clear the vent fins from the Hair/Dust Build up, and make sure the CPU/GPU fans are spinning freely and not clogged up.

Laptops should not be running 80c+ with default clock settings.

Poll: Is Season 1 a disappointment?

When 1 server in each match up is 150,000+ Points ahead of the other 2 servers in that match up, the WvWvW season is a complete Failure.

There is no challenge, no chance of winning (unless you are on a server that can Queue a BL and knock out the competition with outnumbered), then you have the worst of the worst players that are using Movement Hacks to get into fully upgraded Garrisons, Bay’s, and Hills to port their 30+ Zerg in to cap in less then 1min.

You have players that want to ‘duel’ in WvW, and when you kill them (Hey, they are Red, it means they are Dead), you get nasty messages from the players involved, even if you ‘follow’ their rules and not attack those dueling, they end up in a camp and kill your Guild Claimer…

The WvWvW season is complete BS right now, and it just needs to end. Once and For all.

No more Seasons, no more WvWvW competition. Until Anet figures a better way to handle and Police WvW.

we need a way to vote kick players that are see cheating/hacking in the VERY LEAST from WvW.

I have tried this, but every driver I wanted to download from that site denied me the download and redirected me to AMD site itself. Those drivers there for my model of laptop also were different versions than the one mentioned here above.

As a result:
The Intel drivers FOR my model = install did not work because it said my laptop did not meet the requirements.
AMD drivers = Installed perfectly and seems my Intel GPU is working anyway.

Now I am still not capable of running GW on the dedicated GPU of AMD because each time I select “High performance” on the switchable gfx GW1 refuses to launch and I get immediate crash errors even before I get to log in. This is getting increasingly frustrating to run on 15 FPS knowing I could have twice (if not more) but my computer won’t let me.

I spent all this money to replace an old crashing machine that gave me nothing but trouble and in the end the quality of my gaming experience is not even improved. The problem of switchable graphics is apparently common but now that I know the solution and it won’t work I’m getting rather irritated with it.

Your going to have to contact whoever made your laptop for Driver support. This is something that should be working out of the box.

Sandboxed Browsers get exploited all the time. But the Exploit has to be tailored for the sandbox (runs in Memory, when the sandbox closes injects into system using known exploits).

Java free doesn’t save you from buffer overflows. unless you are running Strict open source HTML (Not encoded) are you open to buffer overflows of your browser. Not just in Java, Flash, ASP, CGI based API’s.

If your ISP is hacking accounts, that is YOUR issue. Its not an exploit at the GW2 servers. And, if your system is as secure as you say then its also not your system.

Ok, i must say i’ve never hear of baking a graphic card. o.O
That’s a new one. :P
Thanks for the tip, but i’m not gonna stick it in the oven just yet, because, as you said, if anything goes wrong, i could fry it for good, and i don’t have enough saved for a new one.

But i downloaded GPU-Z as suggested, played Guild Wars 2 for about an hour or two, and set it to tell me max readings (not current ones, but what the maximum was at any point).

The results are in the attachment.
Is this too high?
And this wasn’t even with any excessive gameplay, i did 2 story quests and ran around the map doing vistas. There were no players around as it’s the time every normal person sleeps so… Yeah… :P

The fan was spinning loud, but not as loud as when there’s an event and a bunch of players show up, and the whole screen lights up with skill effects, so i suspect the GFX gets hotter then.

Tomorrow i’m getting some thermal paste, and i’ll apply it. Can’t hurt…

So… Is heat the problem here?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, i didn’t reinstall drivers yet, haven’t gotten arount to it.
When i do a “clean” install, what does that mean? Do i just uninstall drivers and install new ones or what?

So I dont know if your card comes like that out of the box (Cards BIOS Setting from the Vendor). But if you are still having heating issues, your Fan checks out, you have no Gaps between the Nvidia Chip and the Heatsink. then You might wanna run reference Clock speeds.

Just because you have ‘mad Skillz’ doesnt make you exempt from typical infections/spyware like keyloggers.

Since your a ‘security analyst’ I expect you to know what a browser buffer over flow exploit is. Any website that you visit has a chance to be exploited via that method to install a very small client to do whatever that hacker wants. And you would not know 99% of the time, as they almost always use a ZDI (Zero day Infection)

That’s the normal way Botnets are spread, but also typical spyware like keyloggers. And they can be hidden/disguised as any piece of software running on your system.

So just because you ‘know every windows’ process doesnt mean something didnt slip through as a mask of a known process/application.

the ONLY way anyone can get your login info for any application is to exploit your system, or you logging into an exploited system.

If there was a man in the middle attack, alot of users of GW2 would have that authentication attempt email showing IP addresses like you just got. But there have been no reports of such, and I can confirm I have not gotten the email myself. So, for right now anyway, its safe to assume the servers are secured and not exploitable currently.

An alternative way to get your Login Details is via a Span port on a switch between your PC and the authentication server. Otherwise known as Port Mirroring. But that would need to be done between your computer and your ISP, as the back bone and edge routers that run through the internet are all pretty much Locked down via physical security access. And if your in the US or a similarly controlled territory, physical access to any network equipment is pretty impossible unless you have LEC Clearance.

Noob question here.

Power and Condition Damage are seperate.

Might will apply to both though, so if your build includes stacking might you can go either way.

But, I try and run a 80/20 rule. Conditions are nice to fall back on :-)

I like option 2. But what you can do is drop Decoy out for your Mantra when you know your not going to ‘need it’ and keep Null Field up for your Condition/Boon Removal.

There is no ‘static’ way to really play a mesmer. I constantly swap out skills all the time (mid running at times).

So, my main question is, what are you trying to achieve with your build. I notice you dont take Mind Rack in either of your builds. Are you not shattering?

Is it just me...

I would be very surprised if the mesmer distribution didn’t reflect the general distribution, being human females at the top.

That being said, sylvari is actually where it’s at.

Quoted and bolded for truth.
