No amount of OC on that FX is going to fix the WvW issue you are experiencing. Only upgrading to a i5 or i7 will smooth that out. Even then, I get 20-28FPS on my i5 in heavy ‘zerg’ activity in WvW. Just shows how poorly the game is designed.

Right that’s what I was figuring too, so I ordered a 650W PSU a few days ago, need to replace the 500W anyway, like you said it’s never gonna push 500 and it’s a little low by today’s standards. I just don’t have any idea why it’s not happening in any other game, really strange. Maybe it’s related to the amount of GPU usage and what not, though I sat on BF4 for a good 6 hours last night, really strange. Appreciate the input none the less though!

This game, GW2, is very strange when it comes to ‘how’ it uses your system.

The OC on that GPU could be pushing the PSU JUST enough to pop your system when GW2 puts your CPU/RAM under load. All it could take is an extra 14w that your PSU cannot supply.

650w is the bare min I would go today. With all the K series CPUs and OC based GPUs out there, 750-800w is where I would be looking (ESP true if you are considering Water Cooling and pushing the Voltage of your Ram higher then 1.65).

Could be the PSU. A NON OC’d 7770 uses 80w of power, depending on how OC and if the core voltage on the GPU was raised for the OC, it could be pulling 120w+ power now.

And your 500w PSU is never going to push 500w of power. At best you can hope for is about 435w and that’s with a top of the line PSU, and if its new.

The NH-D14 is the king of air coolers and is fine for a good OC. The D14 can beat low end and mid tear AIO water coolers, if u do want to go water cooling then a H100 or higher is what u would have to look at to get better results than the D14.

I run a D14 myself and it can handle all the way up to 1.4v on the 3930k, which will usually result in 4.6 or 4.7ghz clock speeds and temps that peak at around 80c.
By the time im ready to replace that cooler to go for higher OC’s ill being skipping AIO water coolers and just buying the second half(have GPU half already) of my custom water loop, as i don’t feel that a AIO water cooler will give me any significant OC potential over a D14.

I have a Corsair H55 Closed Loop. I want to upgrade that so I’m able to WaterCool my GPU as well on the same pump(I want to push it harder then Air Cooling will allow for).

What would be the best Watercooling unit to get that would let me Cool my i5-4670K and my GPU at the best possible cycle rate? (the faster the water cycles the cooler the water remains. I thought about building a custom Freon Rig as I have Refrigeration pumps and welding kits where I work that I could pull from, But that would require a separate 110v outlet and 3-4x’s the power of a 12v/24v Water pump.)

Mind you, I push my CPU to 5.1Ghz and it will settle at about 79c under Prime95, and my GPU gets pushed to 1850 (up from the default 1075) and on Air that sits at 78c-83c depending on shader settings. I want to push my GPU to 2050~Core and 2400 memory (Up from 1800). Using that OC with Air is just not possible as it pushes the GPU to 95c almost instantly and cuts power :-)

Overclocking Intel core 3570k

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

Pop your i5 3570K to 4.5Ghz at 1.25v in the bios, make sure you enable LLC.

If it boots into windows with out a BSOD then you have an above average Chip, if not then lower the Clock down to 4.3Ghz and repeat, if that fails then 4.1, then 4.0 then 3.8…ect. Until you get into windows with out a BSOD.

Once you get into windows run Prime95 for 5-10mins to verify temps. You do not want the temps to exceed 80c on the stock cooler (can and will damage the Chip since Temps are NOT real-time). If in that 5-10min your temps do not exceed 80C/83C, then continue to run the test for a good 8-10hours to verify a stable overclock (though, this is synthetic and not really proven ‘stable’). If this part fails with a BSOD, or a windows Reboot back down your Clock rate as mentioned Above.

Mind you Prime95 pushes the CPU to 100% max Utilization. Most applications will not do this under normal Load (Gw2 Included). So while 100% will probably push to 80c-83c, normal load in GW2 will be pushing 68-78c respectively. But you will still want to look into getting an aftermarket Cooler, as you WANT your CPU to be as close to 60c’s as possible.

Now – after you have found your stable point with Prim95, you can start to back down the voltage in the BIOS from 1.25 to 1.24, 1.23, 1.22, 1.20…ect repeating the Prime95 Test with each step back on the voltage.

Remember, the lower the Voltage the cooler your CPU will be under full Load, but also the less power its going to pull for the Clock rate you are pushing.

Also physically check the temp on your PSU. If your PSU is underrated or aging this overclock can damage it. As you Overclock and run Prime95 TOUCH the exhaust port on your PSU and feel how hot it is. As long as it doesnt get above Warm (if it burns you when you touch it…That is BAD), then you are probably ok. But if its hotter then Warm disable the Overclock until you can replace the PSU with a higher rated Wattage then your Current one.

ah.. i need a CPU with FM2 Soket, so what is the best for Gaming ? i have low budget ( 80-90€). i will use a 7870 VGA 2gb and 8 gb corsair ram

Stay away from the FM2 socket. its GARBAGE. What you want is the AM3+ socket and an FX series CPU (I would say at least a FX6100).

As for the GPU, There is no good reason to get a HD7870 for this game with out going High end on the CPU (i5-k or i7-k). As GW2 will not effectively use it. Instead I am now suggesting the HD7790 which is about 100 bucks, and will beat almost all of the same class GPUs out of the same price range (119-149).

hey guys, curently i run gw2 on low on q6600 oc 3.6 ghz and ati 4870 512mb

now i got choice to upgrade first cpu or gpu

cpu would be fx 6300 amd

and gpu r9 270 2gb

what u guys think i should upgrade first.

Upgrade the GPU first, to an HD7790, as it will cost the least to start. newegg has them for about 99 bucks (after the rebates and all that). Then you will want to look into upgrading to an i5 or i7 on the CPU (MB+CPU will set you back about 400 with shipping/taxes).

while the R9 270 is a very awesome card, I cannot justify suggesting upgrading to such a Graphics Card when your CPU is that far behind in generations. Also, Going from a Hd7790 to an R9 270 on my wifes FX8350 system I did not see any large FPS/Performance boosts. And its because GW2 is a CPU intensive Game.

Your GPU isn’t probably the issue, as it could simply be your mouse (as in the physical mouse itself). But an Upgrade from a 5570 will do you wonders, I highly suggest an HD7790 (best Card for the Bang right now, 99bucks on Newegg.com)

An HD7790 is better then all the R7 Radeon cards, except the 260X as it beats the 7790 by 10%, and better then Nvidia’s GTX 650, and GT 640 cards, all these cards are 119-179 in cost.

Do you have another mouse you can test with? If not, you can try a different USB port so that the mouse gets reinstalled. What kind of Mouse do you have, are you able to Adjust its DPI? If you set the DPI to high, it could be the cause of the issue. Your CPU has to render the Mouse movements, and if you run a super high DPI (such as 5k+) that alone could be doing it as well.

You can also disable ‘Enhanced Pointer Precision’ in your Mouse Control Applet under Control Panel (its on the Pointer Options tab).

1. calm down!

Now, have you scanned your system for infections? Since you downloaded an ‘IP changer’, I’m Willing to bet you download other ‘weird’ things too. So you probably have an infection or 2.

Download and run MalwareBytes, Avast! Free Edition, and SpyBot. Let them find and clean all infections.

Then Download and run the game again, If the issue persists then you need to look at your RAM and HDD/SSD. If your file system is have issues on the HDD/SSD then you need to fix that (CHKDSK/R from Command Prompt against C:\ or wherever GW2 is installled), To test RAM download and burn the Memtest86+ ISO and let it run for a god 24-48hours to complete its testing.

Awesomium_process32.exe

Well the problem has been for about 2 weeks or so now, and when I browsed through the support forum, I noticed that packet loss thread has similar symptoms as I do, and I suspect these 2 might be linked together. Maybe there has been some work done on the awesomium process that is the reason, or something different all together.

Anyway, since I am just starting to diagnose the situation myself (I’m a EX-CTS engineer) so with time I might get more information what the problem is. But until then I just sent the thread so Anet would know about the issue and maybe link problems together to find the real reason behind these lag/disconnect/packet loss issues that have been rising in past 2 weeks.

This is the tech forum, I don’t ever see anyone from Anet posting in this subforum. You MIGHT want to report on this in the Bugs forum and keep the thread updated with any findings you may have.

WvWvW with new PC?

Hi guys, these days will buy a new PC(A8 5600K 3.4Ghz VGA 7870 2GB DDR5 8gb Ram DDR3 Corsair 1600) , and wanted to know if I can play with this set-up in WvWvW smoothly with a high resolution, thank you in advance and look forward to

Sorry for bad english

Short answer, no.

Long and techy answer, yes and no with alot of modding.

The No comes from the fact no system can smoothly play heavy WvWvW experiences on High with large (1080p) Resolutions. its just not possible

To get decent performance, you will need to overclock that CPU to get any kind of ‘good’ frame rate out of it. 4.6Ghz should be your goal (do research), and you will need to run the FX patch for Win7 and explore disabling the 2nd Core per Module in the system BIOS.

Then you need to adjust your ingame settings to be Medium/Low.

If you did not buy the system yet, replace that FX6100 with an intel i5 or i7 and you will get 2-3x’s the performance of that FX (or any FX for that matter) when it comes down to GW2.

Hi,

As the title states this has started to cause some extreme lag and disconnects almost daily. After I close GW2.exe from process management the connection gets better almost instantly.

I know what the process is for, but could you look into it a bit since this problem seems to be not only in gw2 but in other games aswell which use this 3rd party windowsless web browser.

If you have any suggestion how to fix this, please inform, but I suspect that this is something that you cannot fix since its not your product.

Yours,

Daniel Plainview

Thats the webkit to access the TP. You can try and kill/Delete it when you dont plan on accessing the TP (or change its access rights to denied, then back to granted when you need/want the access).

It might not be their product, but they get the src code so they will be able to ‘fix’ whatever lag is associated with that program if they wanted to. But it will require application traces.

I would Call into their support and see if you can talk to a dev that strictly works with this process and explain that you have proof that it is causing unbearable lag.

If you use an APU+Switchable Graphics on your Laptop you cannot use the AMD supplied Drivers, it will break the switchable graphics. You have to download modded Drivers to fix the Broken Switchable Graphic DLL Link

Break how?

I’ve heard that owners of 6xxx (labeled) GPUs in a switchable graphics setup will want to use a modified driver just because their switchable graphics menu on AMD’s drivers won’t work. My 7660G+7670M laptop has been fine in that regard though with all of AMD’s drivers.

In any case, I’d suggest trying out AMD’s driver first to be sure though.

Breaks as in the switchable graphic engine/API/DLL doesnt work. So you are LOCKED into using the APU’s GPU (6620 in my case). You need to use a modded non-signed Driver to get it working again on anything newer then 13.4 (13.4 needs to just be installed over 12.10 to work, the same trick does not work for anything newer).

actually, its going to depend on your card. Pre HD7000 Series will find that 13.4 will work best for Win7, If they are running Win8/8.1 then 13.12 will work best. Post HD7000 series will find that 13.9 for Win7 and again 13.12 for Win8/8.1

I use 13.12 Drivers on both my laptop (APU+HD7690M) and my Desktop (HD7790). And the performance is a lot better then any Driver before it. And I’m Still running Win7x64SP1.

Depends on who you ask.

Here they will tell you no, it doesn’t improve fps at all as GW2 is CPU bound not GPU bound.

Other fourms I hang out at say it will absolutely improve frame rate. Being CPU bound has nothing to do with it. Game engines do not have nor need specific code for sli to improve frame rate.

So my take on it is: YES, it will improve your frame rate as long as your CPU doesn’t bottle neck your x2 GPU. So overclock that CPU to 8GHz and you should be good to go……..(sarcasm)

It’s true though. Once you reach the Bottleneck that your CPU is (Even i7-Extreme’s BottleNeck for GW2) no amount of GPU will compensate for that.

Now, SLI should be considered in terms of A+B > C GPU options.
OR A+B > All other available options (When running things like 3d).

I would not do SLI or CrossFire for GW2 only, I would do it for either other games or a gimic like 3d gaming.

Or if I was running say, a HD7770 and it was cheaper and more effective to CrossFire 2x HD7770’s Instead of buying the next Tier GPU. <— This is really where SLI/CrossFire Shines IMHO. Being able to link GPUs to keep up with the forever Growing Market.

Here is my justification for the price.

This is one of the very few skins in game where you can actually wear your helmpiece while showing the rest of your head features. Hair, stubble, ears, e.t.c. The other two AFAIK are the Masks and the Monocle.

So if you are the type of player who likes to prance around in LA with full armor except for an exposed head, this is something for you.

Hah its why I rip off the Starter Necro Mask for my Clothies :-)

The ‘Face Paint’ is good for Medium/Heavy Armor as I dont think they have such options other then the festival Masks from the Halloween ‘Mad King Says’ option.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc

Then if no help there the Bug Forum (you can find it via the Forum Section Lists).

But Like i said, I am not sure it was meant to work on Infusions.

upgrade extractor

I wanted to extract my precise infusion from my ascended ring so I bought an upgrade extractor, sadly it does not let me click anything. According to the extractor there are 2 upgrades on it when there should only be 1. The +5 agony Infusion is not an item, it’s something that is given to the item after infusion in the mystic forge.

I want to extract my precise infusion but it does not let me click it so I am not sure what will happen, and I don’t want to risk making a wrong decision.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

EDIT: comparing the way my screen looks when trying to extract from a weapon suggests that my extractor will bug and separate the wrong item if I click extract . Can a dev confirm if it is indeed bugged or if this function correctly.

1. Wrong Forum. And You might need to open an Ingame Ticket to get this resolved.

2. I am not sure this was supposed to work on Ascended Infusion Slots. But your 5 Infusion is actually an item now. They changed AR to be a sloted stat on the 12/10/13 Patch. Where when you built the AR Slot, you also have to farm Fractals for +1 Agony Resistance ‘things’ that you must combine to create your +1,2,3,6,+8….ect up to +20 AR to put into that slot.

Again, if the issue is that it wasnt meant to work on Ascended Accessories (Trinkets do not have upgrade slots, just infusions….for example), Weapons and Armor have both Infusion Slots and Upgrade slots.

Edit Way to fail Anet forums, Underlining an ENTIRE section of my reply cause I used + to illustrate how the Infusions work! …Fire whoever manages the code to these forums!

FPS Problem

8gb ram
Intel i5 3.4Ghz
graphic 1gb ram radeon HD7770

Grahpic options medium/low shaders off and other things also low

I have around 100fps but they go down in every fight to 40.

You are getting expected performance for your hardware. If you look into overclocking you can get 20-30% more performance out of your system (Depending on which i5 you are running).

PvE, no players on the screen I sit between 90-125FPS on ultra settings, Queensdale at the Boar Champ for example. When 12+ Players enter my Line of sight, my FPS drops between 80-90(Pretty solid between the 2). When Combat starts with those 12+ Players FPS drops to 38-45 (Depending on AOE Effects that are active).

And my system is overclocked to the teeth.

Normal behaviour, happens on Every single cpu/GPU compination. Even on the most powerfull on the market.

I wonder if Anet will undo lots of their GPU optimizations and set a higher graphic baseline.

No, and that wouldn’t make any sense for them to do that.

When you updated to 8.1 did you update your drives as well there is a know bug in 8 that has to do with the curser effecting game fps 8.1 was suppose to fix this, but I think there was a video driver update to go with the 8.1 update.

Please do just this. But before updating to 8.1 Nvidia Drivers(Has to be built for 8.1), Uninstall your GPU Drivers, boot into Safemode and run DriverCleaner, then reboot and install your drivers.

This has fixed this issue for alot of ppl with this problem.

Thank you! xD I wasn’t building it necessarily FOR guild wars but I was kinda just hoping :P thanks for the advice. Ill give it a shot.

On top of the other suggestions, In your Bios you can disable the 2nd Core per Module to help ‘smooth’ Performance out for GW2. It wont necessarily give more then 5-8 FPS, but it will reduce the FPS bouncing you are getting.

And I would suggest considering overclocking that CPU to 4.5-4.6Ghz. While the Single thread on the FX is slower then Intel, CPUs seem to do better on this game at 4.6Ghz~.

So your Driver is crashing. I would either update to the lastest, or roll back to the one that was released at the end of Oct.

Either way, uninstall the Nvidia Software from programs and features, and do a driver cleaner from safemode before installing the driver again.

Its ridiculous that they state that all lag and disconnect issues are occurred by user connection, despite if its related to just particular class.

You can test that actually :-)

Log in your troubled Class, when you start to get Lag do an /ip in game and record the IP address Given.

Now Log in a character you KNOW that has no issues, go to the same zone and do another /IP. if the IPs are NOT the same , its going to be something between your ISP and Anet’s servers.

if the IP’s are the same, its something on your workstation causing LAG for when your class is logged in (IE. Fragmentation, damaged .dat file…ect)

and I get upstaged by a tech head….real nice.

It could still be his memory. we have no idea what he has running in the back ground.

it could be his psu, if he’s only running a 4-5 hundred watt psu with a 5 GHz overclock and a video card something will come up short.

A complete OS freeze like that can be a couple of things.

1. Bad Memory
2. Overheating of your CPU/GPU
3. HDD physical Faults (Bad sectors)

I would start by verifying your temps on the laptop. Download CPU-Z, GPU-Z (Sensor tab), and Coretemp. this will tell you what each of the components sit at for Temps.

Ideal temps are about;

35-44c Idle – CPU
45-55c Idle – GPU

55-65c Full load – CPU
60-75C Full Load – GPU

If your Temps are with in ‘normal’ ratings, then you next should work on Memory testing. Download Memtest86+ and burn the ISO to a CD-R. Boot to the CD and let it run for a good 24-48hours.

You can download CrystalDiskInfo to check your HDD/SSD’s SMART tables for Errors/data. That will tell you if your HDD is aging or if it has problems (raw Data read/write errors, Sector Reallocation Errors, Cache Level Errors…ect).

that is where I would start, that way you get to know your laptop.

Low FPS in Lion's Arch

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: ikereid.4637

ikereid.4637

So, in Lion’s Arch i have about 20 fps on max settings with antialiasing turned off.
My PC specs are:
CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.2Ghz
GPU: Radeon HD 7870 1.1ghz 2gb
RAM: 16 GB 1600mhz CL9 1.65v
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
Do you know what could help or what should i change in settings?

I would say 20-25FPS with your hardware under Max Settings is perfectly normal, in LA looking at the Forge. Unless you want to play with Overclocking, then you can get more out of your Hardware.

ikereid.4637

What is the main cause for sporadic FPS dropping?

Anything that is random and not generated by the Game Engine’s API (such as NPCs, scripted Combat…ect)

If the game has to detect then draw (Players movement, attacking, or doing something the game doesn’t already predict) it slows down considerably.

I notice this much more when playing solo story Missions versus playing 5 player Dungeon Missions. I’ll take a much larger FPS hit on dungeon’s over Story (even when there are more ‘NPCs’ on my screen at any given time during ‘peak’ story events then in say, Arah.

THEN there is the rendering. such as Foliage, Particle effects, Armor Effects (Radiant stuff). The more of that you see the harsher your performance is. Since most of that stuff is done on the CPU and not GPU. And even more so if you enable Post Processing Effects, then its almost a 2:1 hit.

If you have this issue you need to report on 2 things;

1. BIOS error codes, this will tell us if your BIOS initiated the shutdown of your system, which GENERALLY will report that back to windows and you’ll see an event in the logs about the reason. But they are all recorded in your BIOS’s Logs too.

2. Driver fault under BIOS. If your GPU over heated and caused a BIOS Fault. that could shut down your system too. If its software related (IE Driver) it will be in Event Viewer under control panel>Admin Tools>Eventviewer>Windows Logs>System. Look for Errors (Red X) that partain to faulting Modules, system shutdown, or kernel Fault (BSOD).

Help wanted - FPS and audio lag

ikereid.4637

So about a week ago, I began to suffer from random FPS drops and audio hiccuping. After a clean reinstall of the game, several driver updates and defragging my PC, it seemed to be resolved. Until yesterday.

Initially, I thought it came along with having too many processes on at once. Rebooted my PC, turned off some other programs – also disabled SweetFX – and it seemed okay. For an hour.

Even now as only Guild Wars 2 runs, the sound keeps making unbearable crackling and stuttering noises, whilst my framerate wavers between 10 and 60 whilst idling in an empty area.

Have you checked your heat/Temp readings?

FPS stutter like that makes me think your CPU is over heating and throttling performance.

fixed the link, not sure what happened there.

Windows 32/64 vs a 32 bit client isn’t a comparability thing. The main difference between Windows 32 and Windows 64 is Windows 64 allows you to utilize memory over 4gb. I don’t understand why someone would tell you to upgrade to Windows 64 when you only have 4 gb of ram. unless they assumed you would be upgrading to more ram as well. Windows 32 uses up to 4 gb of ram and nothing more.

also you are a prime candidate for game booster:
http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

I realize it sounds tacky but I’ve gotten a 10 fps increase using it.

Win32bit limits each application poll to 3.25GB of ram (32bit mask Limit), Win64bit limits each Application pool to about 64GB of ram(for 64Bit Applications Only). That is the difference.

While Win32bit normally cannot see more then 4GB, if you enable PAE you can see up to 64GB of ram on Win32bit as well. Application Polling is still limited to 3.25GB (which GW2 is 32bit, so that is it’s limit under either OS).

4GB of ram is not an issue with GW2, since GW2 will rarely go above 1.9GB of used Ram. Win732/64 bit normally wont use more then 1.2GB of ram (after a fresh boot, let it sit for a good 15mins and youll see it page that unused service memory back down. Win7 at boot will use 2.9GB of ram). So even with 4GB of ram, you should have about 1,1GB of ram free (or SO) while running GW2. So that is enough to run 1-2 additional applications (Such as Firefox with Pandora) in the background.

1. the BLK system is NOT a lottery. There is NO PROMISE of a large jack pot to 1 or a few lucky winners. We all know what the rewards are, and there is a % that we all share at getting said rewards.

2. BLK and Gemstore RNG is just a scam. plain and simple. Its there to drive up the Gem store to make NCSoft (NOT ARENANET) Cash to support their OTHER GAMES. <— THIS IS WHY I DONT BUY GEMS WITH REAL MONEY!!

3. While you can earn Gold in game, even farm the level 10 story and get a random world BLK Drop instead of paying cash…there is no difference between that and paying cash for the Keys. Either way you get them your chances of XYZ Drops out of the chests are the same. This is part 2 of the scam IMHO. Why on EARTH pay real money for something that does not give you a guaranteed chance above the alternative method? Seems kittened.

And that is why I refuse to partake in the Gem store RNG based items. Instead I will farm for Gold (25 different ways, its NOT THAT HARD) and just buy whatever I am after from other players. Seriously, Screw NCSoft on this part of the game.
