drop healing turret late in the might stack. the fire field will be older and you’ll still blast might, and if you don’t suck at spamming you might even be able to kill your turret before it drops the field.

I don’t see how this is an issue. you know game mechanics right coro. you know blasts go by field age right.

I’m so tired of Anet nerfing engineer because some garbage newbie engineers complaining the class is too much to handle.

Then that’s your fault for carrying thumper turret when obviously slick shoe is a better substitute.

You can’t really be super careful when you’re in Stonemist fighting a 40v40v40 and the game engine is lagging so much that it only registers half your button presses.

I think we can all agree that it was better the way it was before.

Also, healing turret is the only usable one that clears conditions without speccing HGH. (not counting AED as usable because .. well, it isn’t)

perhaps in that case it is better to operate under the assumption that any button besides 1 is unusable as i have normally done when zerging sm with tons of skill lag.

i do not agree that it was better before. they reduced the button presses and buttons used by 1 each to properly use your heal, as before it was 3(2) and 2(3) respectively and now it is 2(1) and 1(2) ( () denoting pickup instead of explode). healing is such an important part of gameplay in this game that since getting a gaming mouse i have dedicated 2 buttons to doing that because i primarily played engi for so long. now i need 1. this is most excellent news to me.

but anet isnt done. now they need to make sure it works properly and turrets are viable overall, and i dont think they meet either of those requirements at this time. but good luck depending on them to quick fix “works properly” and of course “viable” will take another balance patch at minimum, prolly more like 3-4 cuz theyre so slow.

as for your complaint that other heals suck, med gyro and aed have both had times in the spotlight. even H has, back in the days of pistols n pots near vanilla launch. aed was strictly op at hot release when they made automated medical response a 10 sec cd because even with its ridiculous drawback (its use condition) it healed for so much on such a low effective cd that engi was not only nearly unkillable but also potentially drove opponents to recklessness and carelessness. med gyro has been op as part of a build that spammed cc, it by itself wasnt great but when you stacked 4 gyros with no cast time and detonated them 1 at a time you get 5-10 secs of disruption without trying on a ~30 sec effective cd, and thats just plain bad for the health of the game. you didnt need condi clears because if it was a power game, take blast and if anyone had condis, take purge. (yet people still wonder why they removed gyro dazes.) (and some people even still wonder why amr got nerfed back to 120 secs.)

so its all a matter of timing. if you werent there for when other heals were crazy, i dont blame you for not ever using anything but healing turret. but things change and we have to adapt. thats just the nature of mmos.

i fail to see why its so hard to not double tap a key. even with 4 years of muscle memory, i can change within an hour.

is it cuz i trained myself to watch for the field rather than spamming? is it cuz i play other classes and other games too now and have to do minor retraining every time i switch around or ??

i mean you get the same effect if you swap away from healing turret… have you ever swapped away from healing turret? engi has other heals and its good to at least be familiar with them so that when they eventually get buffed you arent out in the cold. med gyro was good for a while in pvp and works precisely as healing turret now works, although spamming was/is more of a good thing cuz the delayed tick is minimal.

engi has never rewarded spamming as much as not spamming. not that the current discrepancy is good, but seriously adapt for now cuz anet is slow as molasses.

And… what is the supossed improvement? That we can use the toolbelt with the turret up? They seriously believe that was the reason why people exploded turrets right away?

its been a major complaint about turrets for the entire life of the game. they took 4.5 years to address it.

go look at literally any thread mentioning “thumper” and “suggestions” and youll see something like “i wish i didnt have to have the turret not out to use the stunbreak” o.O

its not why theyre exploded right away necessarily, but in their backlog of turret reworks this addresses probably the oldest complaint.

i have an idea

every overcharge cd, turret gets a buff called “overcharged” that can stack up to 2~10 times and lasts 5 mins. when the turret attacks, it uses a stack and that attack does whatever an overcharge does.

tweak overcharge cds and stacks per overcharge and stack caps appropriately, net turret prolly shouldnt stack higher than 1-2 fairly slow, but rifle turret maybe stack 5-10 quickly.

What really trigger’s me is this bit:

Most of the time, engineers were taking turret skills and never deploying the turret because the Tool Belt skill was too important to be overridden by the detonate turret skill.

NO FREAKING WAY. Most of the time we weren’t even taking the turrets at all because they suck. We’re using only all possible kits and only 1 or two skills of each kit because anything else we have is absolute garbage. Why not make the turret strong so we can DECIDE at each moment if it would be better do keep the turret or not?

pretty obviously targeted at rifle turret both in raids where it can be taken solely for surprise shot and static discharge pvp/wvw burst builds that use surprise shot + detonate turret.

prot injection is one of those op af traits that gives a bunch of invisible power so it doesnt get complained about even though its hard countered power builds for years. alchemy has been core to engi in pvp and wvw for the entirety of gw2, and prot injection is the only trait thats never been nerfed. any build that relies on cc to get burst off cant kill an engi. seriously, back when warriors would skull crack into hundred blades or eviscerate like 3 years ago, an engi could take it and stall out the fight while most other classes would wither. nowadays everyone has cc everywhere and there isnt really a pvp/wvw build that doesnt take prot injection. at all. if you want to live at least.

sad to see it nerfed, but that was a long time coming and imo it actually shows the dev/team that did it knows something about something instead of the more usual out-of-left-field weird changes.

turrets on the other hand… lol well ok maybe not. but really detonation needed to get off the toolbelt. healing turret is fine, but it seems to be a nerf to the others… maybe next some will get “on next attack” buffs as opposed to short duration overcharges. the major complaint seems to be that the overcharge is wasted, but that can easily be avoided by giving the turret a long duration buff similar to sigil of doom/intelligence or mantras or guardian f1 active. and allow (some of) those overcharge buffs to accrue like 2-5 charges so theres a benefit to leaving turret nests around.

in this case you’re only hurting yourself because at the end of the day, you still need the 300 tokens. So you can boycott the content, but don’t be mad when boycotting the content means you’re not getting the content

i am not hurting myself lol. im not mad. im resigned to the likelyhood that anet wont change anything about legendary armor. but i want to change the opinion of whoever is signing off on these kitten ed hard time gates that only seem to be getting worse with each piece of gated content that gets released.

do i wanna do the new hearts 64 times over the course of at least 16 days (or 80x over 20 days to save 16k magic) for an ascended backpack when i can farm enough winterberries/magic in about 4 hours? i see theres a skin thats supposed to make up for that difference there, but… ill pass and choose to not burn myself out on the new content any more than the intentional lack of depth and repeatability already does. yuck.

tbh the only complaint i have with the new legendaries after making hope is the event failure requirements. i take no issue with bind on acquire and i agree that its silly to be able to just plain drop 2k gold for a purple weapon. but…

try formulating an argument without attacking my character, like this:

anet screwed up with the hard time gates. they made 2 extremely repetitive systems that take onerously and arbitrarily long times to complete for no other reason than to draw it out for everyone. if they want us to show mastery of the content, the collections and 1/4-1/2 as many repetitions in each system would suffice. if they want us to keep playing the game, come up with a cheap way to draw us back in over and over (like sab reskins) and dole it out every few months as new rewards for doing the same thing again and again. both of these would drastically improve raid rewards.

i identify a problem, i offer solutions, and i dont call you a kittening elitist when you say i did it so its fine. stop calling me a tp baron, stop calling me a whiner.

and speaking of sab, i ground out both of moto’s infusions asap (in their first year) and already had the majority of the green skins because i had been grinding multiples of several pre wardrobe. those are as time gated as legendary armor and i think its a mistake to make things that hard gated and while i dont have a suggestion to mitigate the arbitrary waiting, if someone else started kittening about them the only thing i would have to say is “yep too arbitrarily hard gated, not fun” and i would not go around saying “haha cant just buy it” or “i have them already so its fine”, and yet that is what 2 of the 3 main counterarguments boil down to in all of these threads complaining about legendary insights. the only one that actually has some weight to it is that “the time gates keep people playing”. but are you having fun getting your maximum 8% / week? or 4% if its not your first set? idk about you, but limiting progress to be that slow makes me want to quit games, not play them. after i got the moto infusions, i was burnt out on all of gw2 for a month. after i did the pvp collections, i basically quit it for 2 seasons because 3 games / day for 60 days was stupid. after getting all my fractal pages, i burnt out on fractals so hard that i still only rarely do even the t4 dailies even though pages are from recommended where prior to the release of ad infinitum i had done at least the highest fractal daily a minimum of about 4 times a week for 2 years. the common thread in all of these is that they are hard time gated arbitrarily, either daily or weekly, and limited availability makes it even worse. and maybe thats just me. but all of these threads plaguing this subforum were not started by me.

you need 50, can get 12 a day, and you need 300 in total, so that’s 25 days if you buy all 12 every day.
That’s less than 1 month. That means it’s not even close to being the dedicated factor in time.

it’s still a month of cancer, that’s the point

okay, now you’re overreacting, like, terribly hard..
since you have to wait for the LI’s anyway, you don’t have to do 25 sessions IN A ROW
you can just do 3-4 a day, or 12 2-3 times a week, you have plenty of time to go at your own pace.

the fact that we can grind at our own pace does not make the grind not cancer

contact support with a sob story like how you accidentally picked the wrong thing and hope theyre nice (usually are). or a little riskier delete it and tell them it was an accident and oops and the thing they give you back will not have stats selected (and will be missing its rune but so what).

dont stat swap in the forge, it will give you back the crafted item instead of your precursor and you need that precursor item to make a legendary.

Core engineer does in general as well, though – Static Shot, Static Shield, Static Shock on the A.E.D., and the Static Discharge trait. If sword/shield proves to be the primary set for holosmiths, you’re naturally going to have at least one electric skill there. If the people who want Static Shot and Blowtorch swapped get their way*, you won’t be able to run sword without at least one electric skill (from your offhand).

Scrapper dialed it up a bit, but electrical effects seem to be a core engineer thing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least a little in other engineer elite specialisations. In particular for something like the holosmith which is going into sci-fi technology – engineer stuff is at least broadly based on real or theoretical technology, so holo-generators probably will be powered by electricity, meaning the holosmith will likely have a supply of it for other purposes.

However, it will probably be primarily holograms and lasers, although I do note that having a sword mainhand might mean that it actually becomes possible to play a build that behaves like Canach. (Namely, generally making use of engineer kits, explosives, and other devices and a shield that behaves more like an engineer shield than a warrior one, the main distinction is that Canach uses a sword.)

*That said, I’m not sure I’d agree with that. Offhand pistol as it currently stands seems to be set up so that it’s useful for melee as well – in fact, it’s arguably more melee-oriented than shield is. Currently, pistol/shield makes for a more standoff setup, while pistol/pistol is more for close-in skirmishing tactics. Switching blowtorch and static shot would mean that pistol engineers are always obligated to get in close. Additionally, blowtorch is a better fit for an offhand pistol used with a melee weapon – the holosmith, for instance, would probably be happier combining a sword with the current OH pistol with blowtorch rather than one with Static Shot.

right, to some extent it’s unavoidable to have electricity in sci fi, it’s such a central part of our civilizations scientific progress. and thats what I mean in that example I wrote out, that in passing I wouldn’t be sad. but if one of the big selling points will be zapping things a lot, like a LOT, that would be unfortunate cuz scrapper does it. hammer 2 4 5 and every gyro zap things and even hammer 1 is electric. let’s get something different goin on. please! there’s so many other things.

bleeds are typically longer and stack high and have a long ramp up time

burns have high base damage and scaling and are burstier

both are important components of condi engis damage. but if youre working with a constrained budget, go for burn duration over bleed duration since the shorter ramp time is better for most of the scenarios youll prolly find yourself in.

also, dont think of it as “i can do this or this”, think of it as “i can do this and this”

Scrapper was not originally going to be what it is now.

Original design of Scrapper was going to be Fire Theme with fire theme attacks and a unique Heat Mechanic that builds up heat in a Heat bar that cause the Scrapper to do more damage as the heat builds up. The theme was to follow how Scrapper use a Hammer and Heat to build things.

However, Anet could not finish Scrapper’s original design on time before HoT release, most likely because it was their last Elite Spec to work on once the other Professions were finished beofre HoT, and had to “Scrap” it and make Scrapper into what it is now.

Scrapper as of now is more like a Core profession +1 Elite Spec that brings no real unique mechanics and only add the F button for just long range res and finisher due to being unfinished.

As for the Holosmith, as I said the theme of it seems more about Energy theme focusing more on Light based theme skills through amplifying light for laser attacks and creating holographic projections to create physical objects through the use of light. Electricty is of course required as the mechanical parts of Engineer’s ability to manipulate Light through the Holographic images it creates is still required.

So for now we can consider Scrapper for Eltectricity theme and Holosmith for Light theme.

i was there. i simply hope they do something pretty different from what theyve already done. a light theme is different from an electricity theme and doesnt really need electricity (i mean yeah its physically deeply entangled but often the fantasy genre separates the two) so i want something without lightning fields and without the zappy goodness of exploding gyros.

for example, i would like a skill that pulls a glass prism out of a pocket and generates a circular field cut into pizza slices of different fields according to the rainbow (lightning-water-ice-poison-light-fire) (yeah i know, i said lightning, but purple like eles attunement). if instead i got a skill that zaps my sword with enough electricity to make it translucent and then i hold it up to the sun to make that same rainbow pizza field, i would be a bit sad, because its cool but the whole charged weapon thing was already done with scrapper. but both would fit the holograms and light manipulation that a name like holosmith kinda points towards.

theres just so much that you can explore that theres no reason to keep doing the same design over and over with slight differences to achieve a different playstyle.

while that could be construed as embarrassing I don’t think anet will openly acknowledge anything that even resembles embarrassmentioned and I don’t think any less or more resources will be directed pvps way as a consequence.

anet has never been fast enough at responding to balance issues and that’s a far larger problem than esl dropping gw2.

they messed up in these 2 cases and made it too long. arbitrarily drawing out the rewards because “people get legendaries too fast” is silly. the collections are time gated enough as it is, and mat acquisition is already soft gated by skill and motivation instead of pure gold. but once you have those softer gates, the hard time gate that remains is out of line with everything else. its plainly obvious to nearly everyone who takes a hard look at the requirements and the only thing that masks it to the eyes of raiders is the 2 year delay in the release of the armor itself. “i did it so you can too” does not justify grind, and that is a goal of anet and they are failing in it in this case.

please, show me some reasonable calcs for your time factor. as far as im aware, we can make around 30-40g/hour in the best farm currently, and thats excluding playing the tp which has even better returns. so farming an armor set would take what 15 hours? compared to 12 weeks for 150 li? how many orders of magnitude difference is that again?

legendary insights and provisioner tokens are the grindiest things in this game by an order of magnitude. its ironic that anet joked about swinging your sword over and over and added these 2 systems into the game.

unfortunately, since they’re attached to acquirable legendary items, the window of opportunity to change is probably gone. and anet rejected the argument that the grind is ridiculous a year ago (I tried back then).

Actually they are the most time gated, not grindiest. There is a difference here.

Provisioner tokens and LI have daily/weekly time gates but are not hard to aquire time wise (assuming you do raids for LI).

If they were grindy you’d have to spend way more time on them. Personally I prefer time gates over grind. Why? Because I’m mature (literally talking about my age here) enough to wait for stuff I want, something lost on many players nowadays.

when a time gate is drawn out to an order of magnitude more than anything comparable, it is a grind. it becomes unfun and tedious and “gotta do it yet again”.

i am offended that you seek to imply i am immature and you are not simply for complaining when there is a mathematical basis for this complaint: if you look at the difference in expense between ascended and other legendary items, its about 1 order of magnitude. there are ~2 orders of magnitude difference in these 2 time gates versus other ascended time gates, and ~1 order difference compared to other legendaries.

this is what guild wars 2 was advertised to shy away from.

please also note that im not sure it should be nerfed now that its already out. showing that maturity and deliberation you so desire.

And in your mathematical basis you have also considered the difference in gold cost as well as account bound items?

I don’t think you have. All you did was focus on the time gate. Let’s look at gold cost for example:

- 1 ascended weapon costs about 50 – 100 gold
- cheapest legendaries start at 2k gold

Now let’s look at armor:

- 1 full set of ascended armor costs crafted easy over 500 – 700 gold the cheapest coming from weeks of farming fractals (and not guaranteed with a cost of close to 200 gold or more for switching to desired stats on top of the time gate)

Let’s look at Mystic clovers required:

- 1 legendary weapon = 77 Mystic Clovers
- 1 full set of armor = 90 Mystic Clovers

Don’t throw around words like mathematical unless you either make clear what your basis is, or account for all variables please.

The mature comment was not directed at you but was ment as a general statement which many more mature gamers might agree with. It does say a lot about you though that you thought it was aimed at you.

an ascended weapon costing ~100g vs a legendary costing ~2k is 1 order of magnitude.

an ascended armor set costing ~500g vs legendary costing ~3k is 1 order of magnitude.

neither is anywhere the kitten near 2 orders lol.

legendary insights and provisioner tokens are the grindiest things in this game by an order of magnitude. its ironic that anet joked about swinging your sword over and over and added these 2 systems into the game.

unfortunately, since they’re attached to acquirable legendary items, the window of opportunity to change is probably gone. and anet rejected the argument that the grind is ridiculous a year ago (I tried back then).

Actually they are the most time gated, not grindiest. There is a difference here.

Provisioner tokens and LI have daily/weekly time gates but are not hard to aquire time wise (assuming you do raids for LI).

If they were grindy you’d have to spend way more time on them. Personally I prefer time gates over grind. Why? Because I’m mature (literally talking about my age here) enough to wait for stuff I want, something lost on many players nowadays.

when a time gate is drawn out to an order of magnitude more than anything comparable, it is a grind. it becomes unfun and tedious and “gotta do it yet again”.

i am offended that you seek to imply i am immature and you are not simply for complaining when there is a mathematical basis for this complaint: if you look at the difference in expense between ascended and other legendary items, its about 1 order of magnitude. there are ~2 orders of magnitude difference in these 2 time gates versus other ascended time gates, and ~1 order difference compared to other legendaries.

this is what guild wars 2 was advertised to shy away from.

please also note that im not sure it should be nerfed now that its already out. showing that maturity and deliberation you so desire.

neither of these anecdotes address the discrepancy in time gatedness of legendary armor vs ascended anything compared to other time gate and gold gate differences between other ascended and legendary items.

…nah who am i kidding, weapon swap + kits would moste assuredly be op af.

at least hammer is locked to scrapper so theres still a potential niche for a melee power weapon on holosmith. i guess. plus isnt the idea for holosmith to be supporty? shield has a blast and ccs and reflect and if they buff its cds it wont just be worse than the condi weapon that would have no place in a power support build. sword/shield has potential.

and thats why targeting something on the order of a year is entirely ridiculous. the very most should be a month or 2, if not a couple weeks. currently, the absolute minimum for dedicating all possible effort is 3 months. and thats if you arent starting from square 1. because good luck getting 13 boss kills in week 1. or week 2. or even any week in month 2.

the hard time gate is out of line by about an order of magnitude.

same for provisioner tokens. and provisioner farming is completely unrelated to raiding at all, so even though its minimum gate is almost right for the overall experience, the entire thing feels out of place. i posit that for an unrelated time gate, one should knock off an order of magnitude from the overall gate to make it not feel sucky and contrived.

Keep in mind, the 1 wing per week to get a full set in about a year is, again, only clearing 1 wing per week. You have an option to clear 4 wings for a total of 13 insights and, again, you were noticed almost a year in advance.

There was plenty of time to focus on getting this in advance, if you chose not to then that’s on your.

And besides, for most people by the time they finish the second armor collection to get the precursor set, they’ll probably have at least 70-100 insights.

For 6 legendaries I’d consider that a pretty cheap time gate. It has also been over 10 months since wing 3 and the requirement of LIs has been released. Doing just escort alone would have given you 40 insights which is insane for something that simple.

When you have a 2 year notice, it isn’t.

consider the pure gold cost associated with obtaining ascended weapons versus legendary weapons: ascended costs around 100g, a legendary costs about 1 order of magnitude more.

many other costs associated with legendaries versus ascended arent so easily and undebatably measurable, with the notable exception of the hard time gates on legendary armor versus the soft time gates on ascended and the hard time gates on some ascended. ungated pieces are soft gated to the extent that you take your time to farm/craft them up — if you at once decide to have a certain piece and have none of the prerequisite mats, you could have it in a few hours or a couple days. hard gated pieces such as backpacks generally dont take more than about a week (mawdrey was a learning experience for them). once you have HoT masteries, it only takes a couple days per specialization collection to really crank them out. hot story achievements can be done on the order of hours. winterberries give you trinkets in an hour or 2. t4 fractals give you rings (plural) in under an hour. pvp and wvw tracks give you enough ls3 mats for a thing in a day or 2. farming gold to craft a piece of armor takes like 4 hours. the time cost of an ascended piece has to be targeted to be on the order of days from their end, and they may have even changed that to hours with ls3. and thats why targeting something on the order of a year is entirely ridiculous. the very most should be a month or 2, if not a couple weeks. currently, the absolute minimum for dedicating all possible effort is 3 months. and thats if you arent starting from square 1. because good luck getting 13 boss kills in week 1. or week 2. or even any week in month 2.

theres prolly 1-5 people in the game who care enough to do the math rigorously enough for your requirements, op, and i doubt any of them will see this post. dont be coy or the responses you get will run you off.

do what you have to do to break bars if you cant complete 100 cm without doing so. repeatedly wiping takes more time than losing any amount of dps. i do know that in such pugs, you need to do everything you can to carry their sorry kitten. but there is another thing you can do: kitten at the necros to use flesh golem, kitten at the rangers to bring electric wyvern, kitten at the thieves to use basi venom, kitten at the dagger eles to use static shield (lightning 3), kitten at the warriors to save headbutt, kitten at the guardians to use the elite trap, kitten at the mesmers to use f2 or f3 or whichever one is a daze, kitten at the revs to use staff 5, and kitten at the engis to use their 5 ccs. cuz in approximately descending order there, there is no class that cant bring 1-2 ccs strong enough to break half the bar on their own while affecting their own dps minimally. but you know, be nice about it. and if the group you are in doesnt feel like responding to your kind pushiness intended to improve their gameplay, leave, cuz they dont deserve to be carried. and there are other people out there who do and maybe your next group will be that instead.

yeah, and i was interested in the light armor’s crystal theme until i saw that bone tail when you unsheathe. anet why. at least heavy is almost ok overall, but i wont be making it as i generally play heavies even less than i play light classes.

im all for animation and new stuff and legendary stuff and rune swapping but they whiffed on 2 and the 3rd is a bunt. ugh.

the light armor has a theme thats almost interesting enough to make me go for it, but i dont main a light class and i flat out refuse to go through the onerous time gates associated with this set. i will not log in every day for 6 months – 1 year and attempt to raid and wander around several maps checking for open faction provisioners. it isnt fun to take your entire play time and waste it in trying to do things that dont necessarily succeed for extremely long periods of time.

the same applies to legendary backpacks, to a lesser extent. those time gates are at least more manageable. please stop making things so time gated. i get it that you want to make it a lengthy journey so it has some sort of life memory associated with it, but just stop. its a huge turn off.

i like the idea of legendary gear a lot and its really useful to have a weapon with free instantly reselectable stats… but the implementation of this set of legendary armor is onerous and unappealing due to a couple of the time gates. im also not inspired or excited by a bone armor theme. i wont be getting this set. maybe next time, if the journey does not include .5-1 year time gates. (and its not like i lack the commitment necessary to build the set, it just doesnt appeal to me.)

but they could definitely have made it a theme that would lock me in to getting it no matter what. they just didnt. this time.

You are looking wrong way on flamethrower Flame Jet change.
Current iteration of Flame Jet inflicts 4 seconds of burning at the end of the chain – which has 2 second cast time. So if you stop attack in the middle of Flame Jet as condition build, you will loose tons of your damage.

Let’s compare it to my idea of Flame Jet. It applies 1 second burning on every second hit. We know that Flame Jet consist of 10 separate hits, so it’s 5 seconds – 5 ticks of burning spread through 2 second cast. In this way Flame Jet is much less clunky to use and achieves 100% of it’s dps in second hit. You are no longer punished for dodging while mid-animation or getting stunned.

Let’s quickly compare:
Old:
4 seconds of burning on last hit
New:
5 seconds of burning aplied through full flame jet durration
-33% physical damage.

I think you will now understand.

I don’t think you understand how op it will be. that single line taints your entire post.

core engi is not strictly better in pve. sneak gyro is about as op as anything gets. the dps is marginally different. the huge thing scrapper gives up is perma swiftness, but mostly where sneak gyro is op is where you have other people who provide swiftness, and in the other cases where sneak is op, the dps you can sacrifice to get mobility is not an issue.

in addition, why would you say necros and else got screwed? reaper is practically mandatory, as is tempest. everywhere. is that what you mean, that they have to take their elite specs to compete thereby reducing build diversity?
