Given a couple of days, solo players have actually been able to grasp teaming up and moving as a group and trying to co-ordinate focus targets. If people don’t communicate and use the chat its very difficult. Just like anything new it’ll take getting used to but I’m having fun with pugs atm in CY
Use the map, use the chat and you’re all set! Even with new players its worth quickly explaining the map how it works and what the game mode is because atm you’ll encounter a lot of new players that haven’t yet experienced the mode, maybe even spvp itself because with new changes UI etc it will bring a ton of new people in.
As a caster I have 0 problems with a player streaming whilst in a tourney
like you said, its a good point that getting an idea of the comms that do occur during a game is great!
We did have around the same amount of viewers and I can imagine a reason he was streaming is because we decided not to actually cast the first round.
I encourage people to maybe even run both at the same time to have a look at different perspectives if they should wish. Cant hurt either way,

One thing that is important as we move on into the area of cash tournies and being more visible is respect.
That is to respect opinions of our players and the communities within spvp.
Personally I am not about to stream/cast on a game where I do not have permission from the players to stream it. It isn’t a rule, its a courtesy and isn’t just there to provide the stream but to give us insight for future official streams and tournies.
As mentioned above, you can of course apply to the ASP when its open and go ahead and stream/cast the games if you wish, but I feel the only way you could understand the position is potentially to be in it yourself.
I definitely understand what you mean about wanting that extra insight into other teams and players, but we would prefer to have a good relationship in order for us to get closer to them than create tension to the point where we are even more out of touch.
A ton of teams play regularly on stream as in members of these teams that run solo streams in pug groups or in team comps. But there is a reason why perhaps that more don’t stream their regular compositions and team strats and thats because they dont want to give the game away

Just a quick word on this from me as I am also authorised.
We dont all always say something in map chat when we watch a game. More often than not its off putting for the players and can bring a pressurising element into the game itself that we spectate.
As a few have mentioned, we ask first about streaming because:
1, Its polite
2, Teams may want to keep builds, rotations & tactics secret from other players for tournies. We are now involved in tournies with 50k up for grabs, not sure Id want my opponents watching us daily knowing everything about our comp.
3, Teams may consist of a super pug or some well known players that don’t feel the team represents them truly in a stream. They could just be having fun and want to chill without that extra pressure.
I had a show called queue cast which I ran a few nights over a few weeks, about 75% of the teams wished not to be streamed. That’s their choice & from what Blu said above which I agree with, we would alienate ourselves from the top end teams which would be counter productive to what we do as shout casters.
We have a ton of respect for our GW2 spvpers, I think personally speaking Id always ask rather than ninja stream a team.
Also one more thing to add, a question more.
If you could spectate the games and see everything, would you also watch the twitch stream?

Actually, Engi had bigger complaints during the decap days. At least those engis had to play though.
No competitive teams high end in GW2 are using turrets to the max. Thats just the truth. Theres a reason for that. They can come into a team of course and be effective, but more than likely the opposite team will counter fast.
You made my point. Turret engi is not an issue for COORDINATED teams. As I keep mentioning though, hot join, solo queue, and at least 50% of team queue is pug. The build is broken there.
I dont agree in it being broken tbh, turrets are used now, people will get over it as they learn to adapt this is the early anger of the build. The knockback will calm some of those nerves I think.
Like a few have said, you can outplay someone who is just auto attacking with turrets.
Turret engies can be taken down in a few ways (trust me I know)
1, Mass AOE spread and cleave. Dont focus the engie, he can just CC chain you to death. Rid yourself of the turrets and hes next to useless if they are your ‘regular player’.
2, Use confusion, Im not 100% sure how well it scales but the turrets attacks do some damage to the engie, all be it I havent tested this to the max so dont quote me here tooooo much
3, Out rotate him pure and simple. If hes on a cap, let him stay there, hit the other nodes and be offensive. If he leaves his turrets hes even more useless in that fight and easilly killed. So many people just run into a cap with turrets on the node. Why? I dont know…
4, The reason people dislike the build when going up against it is its CC and decapping ability. This is being NERFED in this patch. The knockback is being reduced. This is needed imho, so that these players can actually improve. There are cookie cutter builds for most classes in this game and they are VERY useful for new players to gain confidence and to get them into the game.

Engineer is having its turn for some discomfort in terms of rage. Hambow had it Minion Mancer had it Spirit Ranger had it. The AI helps, but how many times have you played against a casual spvper running one of those builds and have won? Some skill and knowledge of sPVP is still needed to be truely effective in a team.
You actually have to activate the skills to utilise the turrets efficiently, such as the thumper turret, YES it knocks back but more importantly it does gie you two blast finishers, planting some fire fields down will give him more might, but I rarely even see it, be glad that most dont use them to their full potential :P

I dont agree that Turret engie got nerfed, its a knockback xD The decap ability got nerfed, if anything the dps just jumped up with the increased ranged and homing ability of missile turret

Well I do always say Im a mediocre player and that I do find it tough to do the builds justice. But people always asking for game play. Id say go ahead and give me a great video to go alongside it if you cared to make one at all?

Pvp isnt dead
Last weeks ESL weekly cup gave us 8 teams, the first time in a few months now tbh.
The reason people feel its dead is maybe they see a lot of the top end players have left or arent playing as much.
And you know they’re right mate…come on more viewers for 2v2 ESL last night than for 5v5, and this means that hom is now full of pvers (The ones who care most about dueling, 2v2 and all that stuff)…good teams still are those made up from old players i actually can’t see totally new teams going somewhere near to ele, tcg and so on…we just must thanks those guys for still playing but competitive pvp is going nowhere..if not dieing for sure it’s not growing at all…and the reasons are well known since one year ago pretty much…but long story short: This pvp is boring, filled up with no skill casual friendly cheese (Favoring random spam and hardcounters instead of skilled play) and there are no rewards to push someone into competitive side. But now it’s really too late to do something…this pvp is already ruined, they killed it on 15th patch and gg…nothing left to save..
This is very opinion based I understand, but sometimes its good to step back.
I dont feel as if its boring and the same as usual. But thats just my viewpoint.
Team Exaltation is a good example of a great up and coming team and some others.
Check the last two podcasts I did with TCG and BooN. Both teams agreeing at times that the meta atm is definitely more fun and varied.
I respect your opinion, just saying Im not sure the community spvp wise is really repped well in this thread, I play with many people in the community that are actually having a lot of fun atm, but what I think most people are talking about is really the high end competitive crew of gw2.
That population really is small guys Im afraid in comparison to the numbers that casually are playing, can you blame Anet for not focusing on that top 10/5% of the GW2 community?

I understand the frustration you guys are having.
You want to be rewarded and have a reason to log in daily and spend so much time playing the game, I got it. I talk to the top end of players daily, but I also speak to and play with the other end of the scale.
Rewards tracks was the start, dont think thats the end.
Balance wise, and actually class wise. I feel the games more balanced maybe atm than its ever been. There more varying builds atm than ever other than launch.
I knw you dont want PVE rewards but that was a way to get people involved from the PVE side and too also get spvpers into other parts of the game potentially and to earn them some cakitteno.
Good suggestions, BUT I do give boons to allies
Checkout the Hallowed ground, giving stability.
Swiftness on staff 3, regen on mace 2, Virtues boons, Staff 4 empower, Shield protection and some others. In this build I give a lot of boonage through the virtues, so quite a few there.
I actually feel this build is more supportive in general healing, and is more effective vs power build teams,. Shouts feel more like a setup for a guardian vs a condi team, consecrations/this rune set feel more power beneficial.
The crit chance is literally for the vigor regen as well.
