80 Thief – 80 Warrior – 80 Guardian – 80 Ranger
80 Mesmer – 80 Necromancer
So yes, Steatlh prevents all single target damage that requires a target.
Which is nothing in GW2, because GW2’s combat system isn’t target based. Some players have become very reliant on locked tab targets to do damage, and stealth punishes their refusal to learn how to actually fight very harshly. Someone spamming projectiles into the ground when faced with a stealthed opponent is an excellent indicator that they never learned to fight without a locked target.
I would LOVE for non-thieves to start using single target weapon attacks, some of which have a 20 second, or longer recast timers, and single target abilities that could be on a 90 sec, or 240 sec recast timer. That would make for a much, much easier kill.
Do you have proof that you don’t need to have a target to use single target abilities, and have them actually hit us? I’ll have to test this, but some how this doesn’t seem accurate, and I wouldn’t suggest it to non-thieves.
Like always real life keeps me away at reset, until late. Anvil Rock keep the lights on for me!
Good luck to everyone.
Dear Anvil Rock Alliance:
I am aware of a fact that you’ve been accusing members of my guild of “stealing” guilds from AR to move to where we are currently located. Please be aware that EOH has not employed those tactics and that in fact we left because we were unwelcome on AR by your alliance. We’re on a server we like and have been welcomed. If you are “losing” guilds it isn’t because of us leaving, but probably because of some such other problems that you have internally or through the use of unsavory tactics or some such other problem that we have, nor ever had, any knowledge of.
Thank you for your time….
2 cents
Let me guess, you went to BP too?
Do you know how they balance stealth in virtually every other game out there? They add see stealth to one class, or ALL classes. So unless you want another game to go down that line of thinking, I suggest all of us Thieves get on board with the fact the class needs balanced, and help the developers come up with a fair way to balance the class.
a Thief can remain stealthed … and avoid any damage they might have taken.
Stealth only works this way against NPCs and really bad players. Thieves don’t take damage during stealth because people don’t try to attack them, not because stealth is good at preventing damage.
You’re wrong.
You can not target us while we are in stealth, and NO ONE but new players gets hit by AoEs. There is no possible way to die to AoEs in this game, unless you just stand there. Because of this, if you go back to reread my previous posts, thieves have the best defense in the game with steatlh, especially when you factor in DODGES, which are even better once you make a greater use of Vigor, and 40% Endurance Regen Food.
So yes, Steatlh prevents all single target damage that requires a target. The benefits of dodge prvents all other forms of damage, and the fact that a red circle shows on the ground for most AoEs, it is extremely hard to do damage to us. I die maybe once in 500 kills, and that is only because I was playing tired, or drunk, and I made a massive mistake.
The only way your post would make sense is if we couldn’t move once we went stealth.
Pistol damage is being buffed. Not sure if it will happen next patch or another one later on.
As for your complaints.
1. With D/D having Cloak and Dagger for constantly stealth, don’t get your hopes up.
2. Pistol Whip is not just a damage skill. It’s got a STUN and lets you evade attacks for pete sake.Thinking only about the damage is noob logic. Learn to think about how the utilities can be useful.
i.e.: Pistol Whip is a great skill. Doing less damage then the auto-attack is normal when it has a stun and evasion.
Pistol Whip roots you in place, allowing for a skill that is extremely easy to dodge. It’s probably one of the worst skill sets a Thief has.
A D/D Bunker Elementalist can’t kill anything.
Ignore him, and go about your business, he’s just wasting everyone elses time, and his own. <grins>
Stealth is the best defense in the game, so a glass canon Thief is MUCH safer than say a glass canon Warrior. Not only that, but the best defense in the game are the procs available to crit builds.
Vigor + 40% endurance Regen food >>>>>> most damage.
Vigor doesn’t stack with the Regen food.
I never said it did. Darn that reading, and all.
When you don’t have Vigor up, which you can’t have up 100% of the time, the added 40% endurance regen you get from food allows you to dodge more.
Stealth plus the increased dodge rate gives us Thieves the best defense in the game, without giving up anything in its place. I won’t even get into the benefit of the survivability with procs that trigger off crits being far, far better than what you can get with Toughness, and Vitality builds.
I can still hit Toughness builds with 3500 Armor for 4k-5k, and they have no chance to ever kill me. That is absurd considering they give up pretty much all the damage they can do, for added survivability, and I give up nothing, and have much better survivability, and MUCH better damage. That’s why I laughed hard when people complained about the 1600 heal Guardians got on dodge roll, WHICH GOT NERFED, but no one cried about the 9-12k hits from Thieves, or the 16k-22k hits from Warriors, which still exists. This game, and its players crack me up.
I’m sorry, but I have seen to many games get destroyed because of balance issues, and have seen too many classes get destroyed because the people playing them refused to admit there were any problems.
I don’t want to see that happen to this game. I love the Thief, and I have to admit there needs to be some form of changes, not just to the Thief, but to many areas of this game. I’m going to help, and be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
<scratches head> <shakes his head in wonder> <grins at his thoughts>

@wolfpag
Thieves with multiple targets for CnD are going to look like they’re better than a Thief who doesn’t have non-stealth targets for CnD.
Are you new to the game or something?
I would have changed maps, and went to take a supply camp.
Give me multiple targets for CnD, and I’d player better than any other thief in that group, or zerg because they lack the extra targets to CnD, that I have, and have to wait for me to unstealth to attack.
<laughs>@jkctmc We have queues on rare occasions. I was in queue a good 2 minutes at some point yesterday.
A whole two minutes? O.O
This monthly requires WvW kills to complete, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it? I spend a unhealthy amount of time in WvW, and havn’t witnessed any queues.
It would be nice to witness one queue during reset.
Stealth is the best defense in the game, so a glass canon Thief is MUCH safer than say a glass canon Warrior. Not only that, but the best defense in the game are the procs available to crit builds.
Total Invulnerability is the best defense in the game, not Stealth.
Glass canon Warrior got more armor and twice the HP of glass canon thief too. And invulnerability skills, and 100% block chance for a time skills.
If a Warrior pops 5 second invulnerability, it is on a 90 second recast timer, and during that time a Thief can remain stealthed, which isn’t on a long recast timer, and avoid any damage they might have taken.
Once that 5 seconds has past, the Warrior is easy pickings, while us Thieves can reset any mistakes by stealthing, and dodging away. If you’ve poisoned your target, they remain in combat for the full duration of your poison.
I can burst a Warrior in 4-5 seconds, regardless of their hit points, and I’ve hit as hard as 4k-5k against bunker builds with 3500 armor.
Steatlh still trumps anything in the game in regards to defense. Dodge comes in a close second, which us Thieves have both of. No one in this game should ever die to AoEs, which completely negates classes like the Elementalist, and to some extent, the Necromancer.
Vigor + 40% endurance Regen food >>>>>> most damage. Stealth + Vigor + 40% endurance regen food negates all damage.
(edited by jkctmc.8754)
If the Rangers signet gave them 25% speed, instead of 10% speed I would probably shelve my Thief, and play my Ranger again. That would at least give me hope that the Ranger would have future fixes, that made sense.
Wish we had queues on Anvil Rock. As much as I hated 6 hour queues during prerelease on Henge of Denravi, I kind of miss having the population to at least have one queue, on one map.
I disagree with posts saying that our backstab crit builds need to be nerfed. Any player that runs a glass cannon build is going to drop a target real quickly. Yes, that person will pump out 15k+ in a matter of seconds. But that person can also be taken down fairly quickly as well. Me, I am running a backstab crit build, but not as glass cannon as most. I chose traits to increase vitality, when I could have increased dmg. I chose traits to make sure that I never run out of initiative, instead of choosing more up front damage.
Its all how you build your character. Me, I chose the path that will leave me with less grief in the end(a bit more survivability, and never ending initiative…unless Im seekerspamming at the end).
Also, I like steal, but it feels very underwhelming compared to some classes class-specific abilities. Not sure what can be done to fix this, but compared to an eviscerate, or deathshroud(yes I went there, if traited…aoe heal, a few seconds of no HP loss, decent damage especially traited…its fine), its underwhelming.
Stealth is the best defense in the game, so a glass canon Thief is MUCH safer than say a glass canon Warrior. Not only that, but the best defense in the game are the procs available to crit builds.
In WvW what I love most about thieves is the ability to absolutely ruin zergs. My guild couldn’t counter them, so we joined them. With two groups of five Thieves, we absolutely destroy full zergs of 30-40 people.
Dagger Storm by itself, from one person isn’t much, but you throw in 5-10 Thieves, all utilizing Spider venom, the damage is amazing, since you’re adding bleed, and poison to your targets, and it seems Dagger Storm hits more than 5 targets during its duration.
Because you chose the proper target prior to your Dagger Storm, and used “Steal” on a Warrior, to get; “Whirling Axe”, you can now enter into another series of AoE damage, that is nearly as potent as Dagger Storm.
The key to both of these abilities is to move away from those who can melee, and create as much confusion as possible while you’re doing damage. My bunker Thief build can stay full health the entire time, regardless of damage from the zerg. (I’m not sharing this build. <grins>)
Once 5 or more thieves have used these two abilities, you have a lot of targets at, or below 50% health. One dodge roll into stealth; (I use Blinding Powder), not sure what the others use, and each of us Thieves can claim one target. I tend to go for the lower levels first, which only requires me to pick a target with a green arrow. Once we’ve claimed, and killed a target, we step into stealth with CnD, and dodge any damage coming our way.
At this point, many are injured, people have died (no need to stomp, just DPS them down), and the zerg is in a panic.
From this point on people are dying in groups of 3-9 depending on the size of our Guild Thief group(s) with little to no danger to ourselves. Some of our Thieves like to switch to shortbow to utilize; “Infiltrators Arrow”, or switch to Sword(anything) to utilize; Infiltrator’s Strike" to move around the zerg rapidly, and to cause even more confusion.
Having access to multiple ways to stealth, thanks to how “Combo Fields” work, we can easily man handle zergs, and wipe them out.
Thieves are NOT balanced, and if you’re not willing to take a nerf (I’d be fine with it), then you need to champion the idea of giving buffs to other classes so that they can at least compete.
At this point in time there is no need to defend the Thief class, but this is the internet and every game up until this point someone has always defended the overpowered classes, until it got to a point the developers destroyed the class(es), because those playing them refused to give proper feedback on how to fix the issues.
SOS is never on their 80s. Whenever we push you guys off our map or wipe you, we get the same forum post. Your lucky we are lvling our alts and not on our 80s! I guess if you have that much of an ego as a guild…idk. At least i can admit when my guild groups get wiped from an AR or SF guild and we learn to counter those guilds by learning how we lost to them. We dont just go on the forums and say hey we were on our alts raiding camps! wait til you see my 80 that i dont play!
I have 4 80s, Ranger, Warrior, Thief, and Guardian, all four of those in full 80 exotics, currently trying out Knight gear, all of which have had full Beserker gear, and full Karma gear from Orr, with a 43 Mesmer moving up slowly to 80 since the Borlis surge in population making the last 80, and Karma run much harder than previous toons.
Most of us have the same, so yeah, we’re on alts a lot. I’m sorry facts suck for you, but facts are facts. I have 28g saved up for Exotic gear, and 200k Karma on my 43 Mesmer already, once I use the jugs saved up.
You enjoy running with the zerg, we’re enjoying our alts until we get a semi-balanced population to fight. It’s fun to take towers with low level alts, especially when they’re reinforced.
It’s not like how GOAT never loses, ever.

@Plok
There is a reason your guild has been complaining about Thieves lately. I suppose you forgot about the three thieves who killed the 12 of your members, maybe a pick up or two.
Our guild has never been rolled over when we’ve all been on our 80s.
We are looking into this. I actually think P/P has a lot of utility. Blind field, daze, vuln stacking. However damage is a bit low. We are making some headway here in the12/14 build so be patient for one more week.
Jon
Please tell me you’re looking at sword as well. The Sword combinations are worse than the Pistol combos.
Nah, they really aren’t. The only problem I have with swords is Pistol Whip needing to be rebuffed along with a nerf to Quickness, and Flanking Strike needing to track better. Otherwise Swords are pretty good.
Since “2” is usually reserved as a stun breaker, or escape, you’re limited in two sword attacks, one being your auto attack, and two high costly initiative skills Slot a pistol, you get pistol whip, an attack that roots you, and is far too easy for your opponent to avoid, if you slot a dagger, you’re down to the stupid stealth that is broken because of CnD, and how stealth works in this game, something I wish was changed from an attack that stealths you, into an attack that stuns. I suppose you could go with no weapon in offhand, and get an extremely weak attack for number"3".
Flanking Strike is very annoying to use.
Quite franky D/D, and P/P are better than Sword, anything if you’re wanting to do anything but avoid, and annoy your oppoent.

so apparently me having 3k defense 1026 healing and 25k hp is glass cannon ?
so you are simply bad pvp player, even other glass canon can counter thief if you KNOW how to FIGHT them, end of story I repeat once again thief is not op, ppls said on realise gw 2 that war with 100b is op now they learned how to fight and say they are weak -.-
There are rly more op classes in game than thief.
And one more stop QQ about invis I play thief without ANY invis and still can kill ppls easy on wvwvw as my p/p \ shotbow thief (and yes I don’t play as thief only memser for example is way more op than thief or even guardian)
Pistol/Pistol is crap damage, and you’re not killing anything but alts with Cluster Bomb, or the rushing zerg who refuses to dodge.
You can’t judge Thief based off useless weapons. Put Dagger/Dagger in your hands, and give it a spin.
On my Thief, me and two other thieves killed a zerg of 25 people because they couldn’t lock us down. NO thief, hell no class should ever die to AEs, and a smart thief will slot sword in one of his primary hands to escape a lot of detriments with the number “2” ability. My Thief is Sword/Dagger, sometimes Sword/Pistol, and Shortbow. You can not lock me down, or kill me unless I make a mistake.
I have an 80 Warrior, 80 Ranger, 80 Thief, 80 Guardian, and 43 Mesmer so please read everything I post before jumping to conclusions.
If you remove stealth, or give stealth detection you need to give the Thief a ranged weapon beyond 900 range, but instead one that has 1200 range for zerg on zerg fighting. When you do this, you’ll also need to give the Thief the ability to gain health besides stealth/initiative for their more defensive builds.
Honestly if they wanted to truly fix the stealthing issue with thieves, they need to remove Cloak and Dagger, change the traits associated with it, and give the Thief a stun or something in its place. That alone would fix all the stealthing issues people have with the perma-stealth thief.
I’ve created a bunker build for all my toons, where each has over 3500 Armor, higher than normal hit points, and so on just to test some things out. People say; “get toughness”, or “get more hit points”, but with this much defense I’m regularly hit for 5k-11k damage from glass canons, without the ability to kill them because to get this much defense, you have to give up all of your damage. THAT IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THIS GAME. Toughness, and Vitality are worthless when you can get the best survivability in the game from precision, and the 66% lifesteal from food, and 30% lifesteal from a Superior Sigil. Once I realized this, I’ve built glass canons that can survive far, far better than any of the bunker builds floating around out there.
In my opinion they need to make toughness, and vitality far more valuable than it currently is, but that is a different debate all together.
But fix Rangers first in my opinion……..
I love threads like this. I have a 80 Warrior, 80 Guardian, 80 Thief, and 80 Ranger.
Hands down the Warrior is better than all of them. I’m not even going to bother with this anymore, because at worse they buff the class since everyone complains about it.
Once I learned how to actually build a bunker Warrior, and found out how Precision makes for the ultimate bunker build (go learn the game if you disagree with me) I laughed at the Guardian.
If you play your timers right you can dodge (got to love vigor on crit), block, become invulnerable “Endure Pain”, and negate over 20 seconds worth of damage, while building 25 stacks of might (running into a zerg blocking), while reflecting ranged attacks back onto its attackers, among much, much more the Warrior provides you, on top of having near permanent swiftness, something classes like the Guardian lacks.
Don’t judge the Warrior because of the stupid (illusion of balance) rules in SPvP where they destroy many builds, and limit the useful builds, and prevents you from using other aspects of the game.
@Vigrith
Goat members can actually kill anything but alts? <laughs>
Screenshot, or it didn’t happen, and when you kill a solid guild, look for those little green arrows that shows you if they’re 80 or not. We roll over GOAT quite often when on our 80s.
@Flayfirst
You keep the normal Commander tag for everyone to see, but you also add a guild Commander tag for guildmates to see across the map, or a raid style tag that only those you invite to a larger group can see.
@DK
They need to give us a commander tag that only guild members can see.
I have an 80 Warrior, 80 Ranger, 80 Thief, 80 Guardian, and 43 Mesmer so please read everything I post before jumping to conclusions.

@Plok
I’m not sure why you think playing a thief makes you any less vital to the team. Sure if all you ever do is roam around and kill you’re not being very helpful, but that’s true for any class. I play thief. I get lots of badges. But I also use all those extra badges i earn from kills to buy and place siege, use my mobility to do super fast supply runs, use my stealth to revive allies and/or get stomps on key targets that can turn battles, scorpion wire that kitteny ranger or ele spamming from the walls down for my comrades to kill while I AOE the seige on the enemy battlements, and use my speed to scout ahead of zergs to call out locations of enemies and report enemy army sizes to coordinate flanking maneuvers and call in people to defend positions that haven’t even been attacked yet. This is all not to mention that the thief has arguably the best damaging AOE spell with explosive shot and a 3 bounce auto shot that hits for 1.5k regularly and anti-enemy revival AOE with choking gas.
Explain again how I’m not helping my team and am causing AR to lose through these obvious examples of unskilled and selfish behavior…
Oh yeah… and be real: If %50 of our server ran thief, you wouldn’t ever see us coming, especially with the culling issues. %15 run thief at most. Yes, that number is an estimate, but 2 things: I let you know when I’m bullkitten you and I’d wager my badges of honor that my guess is a lot closer than yours.
Well, last night my small group ran around for a couple of hours. I would say AT LEAST half our overall kills were thieves. Can’t say positively they were all AR but tons were. Even found a group of four ezmoders on middle island that exploded from AE. You can throw a million pieces of siege, running around solo, generally does kitten for the realm as a whole. Hey I run around solo on occasion but I know all i am doing is looking for fights, nothing generally for the realm. Oh, and I do love when a thief attacks me with his shing shing and they see very little health come off and then run away, it amuses me.
FOTM: Thief, cause some need that base advantage.
ITT noone cares. lol
Sorry SoS has been a non entity and rendered moot this week. Oh maybe I should make some troll posts instead of commenting truthfully on the happenings in the wvw.
let me guess, thief right?
You lost several fortified towers to 9 of us, and almost lost two keeps to 9 of us when we would knock down a wall, or gate, and send in a Mesmer so we could come back later.
I’m sorry it is December, and us adults have more pressing matters, and the entire guild can’t get on, like your guilds full of children, who’re on winter vacation, and can play all hours, day/night while thier parents work.
The funny thing was, out of the nine, 7 were alts, 3 being under level 20.
<laughs>
/golfclap seriously? I love your generalizations. Most of your posts are pathetic and this continues the trend.
I took SM solo kitten, you are teh weak.
You’re so funny. Ask around. That is exactly what we did last night. But far be it from me to expect anyone from Borlis Pass, or GOAT for that matter to be honest, respectful, or at best mature about things.
We alsot got a few new faces in the guild that we’re teaching lately. So I’m expecting you to kill one of them, and run here to the forums and scream about the lack of skill SoS has, because that’s your style.
Cracks me up we can’t play alts, invite new players, or anything that might make us look bad because of children who run to the forums with nonsense all day long. Notice the lack of these kinds of posts from SoS members when we roll other guilds, regardless of the situation?
(edited by jkctmc.8754)
So I just witnessed a low level mesmer at Anvil Rock’s spawn in Eternal Battleground flying through the air over and into the Anvil Rock Overlook Keep.
I partied a few Anvil Rock players to try and find out the identity. Emusa.4069 was not willing to help and likely told this hacker to leave the map. By the time I ran into some Anvil Rock players that were willing to help give a name, the hacker had left.
Now I understand all about the mesmer and I know you can teleport around a bit, but nonstop teleporting everytime you try any attack, and then flying through the air is utter trash.
I’m hoping most of Anvil Rock would agree with me that players like that mesmer don’t belong and should be banned. I also say that if anyone sees someone from BP doing the same, I will gladly help give a name. We need to call these cheaters out and I ask anyone with a shred of dignity to take part and help when you see stuff like that.
I’ll send a report when I get on tonight. Cheating should never happen.
One of the biggest problems that BP faces is that is really hasn’t been vetted and suffer from the “smartest kid on the short bus” syndrome.
Lets look at how they got to be where they are today.
Tier 8.
They were able to beat Devona’s Rest and Kaineng. Beating up on the lowest Tier isn’t something to brag about.
Tier 7.
When it was challenging.
Rank 19 = Darkhaven, NSP, Yak’s, Emery Bay, Sorrows Furnace.
Rank 20 = Anvil Rock.They consistently lost.
When things settled down , GoM joined Tier 7.
With a more even match-up they came into their own. Granted that GoM turned out to be a dying server but they at least made a fight out of it for 4 weeks.
So they beat GoM and Anvil Rock in Tier 7.
Tier 6
They beat a dead HoD server and it turns out a weak Sorrows Furnace server.
Next week it looks like they will have their first true test with both Dragonbrand and Darkhaven. Good luck and I’ll be the first to congratulate you if you prove to have equal success in the next tier.
-K
We know that. We’re anxious and excited to see what will happen as well. However, we have lost plenty and know how that is like. So, if we get pushed so bad we end up stuck just defending our own borderlands, that’s how it will be. We will have to assess the situation and find out what we can do to make it better. If anything, losing is great for leveling alts.
But, someone did say that we would get stomped by SF when we moved up. We didn’t. Now the wish of some people in AR is that it happens in the next tier. But they won’t lose hope even if we do well next week. There will still be 4 tiers for AR to suck out the marrow of its sweet prophecy and cry tears of joy when they see BP losing a match by a landslide. “Yes. It will happen. One day it will finally happen! Praise the Lord!”
The state of the game is really bad, and no one really knows how bad it has got. Server transfers destroyed a lot of servers, while boosting the strength of a few. We’ll have to see how it all pans out. Just hope your server doesn’t lose a match, and fall to the way side like HOD, or ET. Remember pre-release no server could be HoD, but once everyone transfered there, the alliance left that server, and many more left because of it, destroying the server.
I came to Anvil Rock from Henge of Denravi once the queue times reachd 6ish hours. When I came here there was a guild, or alliance called ANV, which was upset they were being pitted against top servers, so they all left. From that point on a lot of people have been jumping ship off the server, while a guild TCMM joined Anvil Rock. I believe it’s panned out, and not many more have left, but we have to see in the months to come.
@ Kodiack
I agree with you in that us BP facing off against DB and DH will be a true test of our improvements. While you pointed out that we may have had easier fights that helped us move up, I strongly feel that we are not the same server months back when we were crushed by EB. We’ll just have to see how it goes.
In my opinion, AR was the toughest opponent we’ve faced in the recent matches. There certainly is a strong sense of rivalry, competitiveness, and borderline hatred between us, but this may have helped both of us improve and push ourselves to the limit. If we BP are able to hold ourselves against DH and DB in the next tier, I certainly think that you AR should deserve to move up and be there too.
You have improved, a lot, no one is saying otherwise. It’s hard to get so many people to work together, at once. That is something to be proud of.
Yay!
Good job Borlis Pass!
Go, go night capping.
@GSSBlunaspike Maybe if he had actually targeted someone that had the outmanned buff. I was there, it was on. That’s 4 times the number when it pops. Keep telling yourself that it’s not. There were 3 golems that had been used on 2 towers prior to that, two that were about half dead because some people don’t know they can’t tank oil. Congrats on killing them after they had already served their purpose though.
And even with that unorganized lot, you failed to mention they still got the outer down is clever on your part. I was in the tower before it was zerged right across the way, the golems were my build, and I was done with them.
Funny that you mentioned it. See I did target and get a screen just in case.
http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8813/gw553v.jpgWant more?
How embarassing for you, not to know even after I’ve told you about the new culling mechanic this week, that is designed not to show you your allies.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/New-Culling-Trial/page/3#post959498
Notice how in your screenshot, you do not have the outmanned buff? Misleading screenshots get you no where. <laughs>
@GSSBlunaspike I will refer you to my constant outmanned buff as a response.
http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/2673/gw552.jpg
Count the green dots. Oh, and we won that fight.
AR walked their golems in front of our cannons and they got destroyed. We jumped down from the wall and killed one as it crossed the bridge infront of overlook, while your zerg ran so far ahead they couldn’t do anything.
Keep telling yourself it’s numbers.
It looks like GSS is unaware of this weeks culling change, given to us by the devs, and discussed here;

that shows you more enemies, and very few of your allies. This removes the dots from the minimap, as it doesn’t register allies near you, that are not giving you boons. We forgive you for your lack of knowledge in regards to changes of the game though.
PRICELESS!! Give us more laughs, please!

uh oh, someone is loosing. boo hoo hoo
We won last week by a landslide, and I felt the same way. My posts reflected the same feelings too. Winning, or losing with superior numbers is not fun, and any mature individual would understand.
Grow up.
P.S. It is losing by the way.
you won last week for the same reason we’re winning this week. unaccounted for transfers.
Which caused a population issue, like I said. Hmm….. People just can’t read anymore.
I love people today. They can’t tell the difference between a sensible discussion, a laugh, or rage. To them anything in disagreement, is raging. It’s the funniest thing you can witness on the internet, and you would think the internet after 1995, would have matured by now. Unfortunately year after year it gets worse, as if children grow into adults, but instead of maturing, they regress into that grade school mentality that adults like myself witness in thier 6 year, and 8 year old children. Famed Psychologists have a name for this, but it slips my mind currently so please forgive me.
Annoyance that yet another game has population issues, brought on mainly by free transfers in this case, has nothing to do with anger, or as the grade school children call it, rage. It’s an ever growing feeling of being tired of population issues after playing so many MMOs that have suffered from them, namely; Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest II, Aion, and so on.
Humor at the fact that some people can’t have a sensible discussion, and try to troll like it is 1995, and refuse to recognize the fact they do have superior numbers causes a fit of laughing to yourself. As you try to convey this humor in word format to people who havn’t earned a higher education yet, and mistake your words for anger, or as the grade school children call it, rage. You want to laugh more, but you begin to feel sorry for those who still have this old, and immature mentality.
I hope you recognize that issues similar to this are among the issues that have caused games like Age of Conan, Warhammer, and others to completely die, on top of the massive bugs with these games, including Guild Wars 2, and the insane amount of cheating that filtered into these games.

This isn’t working, I just died to a Guardian, and a Warrior, and I didn’t see them. I died not knowing how, and had to read the combat logs to find out what killed me.
What’s funny as hell though, while Borlis Pass is hitting Anvil Rock hard, Sorrow’s Furnace is taking our supply camps, and putting up Balista in them. I guess they want second place back.
It’s kind of sad to see AR qqing, people should go read their posts from last week. When people said the same things they are saying to us now. It’s so cute to see the hypocrisy.
Can’t wait to get back in the game, had to stay away for a week so I could get my matches done for the new season.
Only one person said what you say they were saying. Why make yourself look bad like this brother?
Everyone, including myself said over, and over that we had a higher population than GoM, and it was boring.
<shakes his head in disbelief>I’ve seen a stealthing Warrior, people gaining access to Bay, Hills, and a few towers without ever breaking a gate, or wall down, among other things. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game with more bugs/exploits in 15 years of online gaming.
As a player who has a fully geared 80 Thief, 80 Ranger, 80 Warrior, and 80 Guardian I have to say rendering issues, and how they relate to thieves AND large scale battles is the most annoying thing in this game. I’ve never seen a game with worse rendering issues.
It’s not surprising to see other thieves say they don’t have issues with thieves. Of course not, we have stealth to give us the reprieve we need to counter rendering issues. No other class has the ability to hide until the person hitting them renders, or leaves. <laughs>
As for people like the Ranger who says he has no issues (sounds like a thief in disquise), you are either fighting some horrible thieves, or you are making things up. As a thief, who uses Sword/Pistol, and Dagger/Dagger I can tell you stuns mean absolutely nothing because of the Sword “2” ability. So quit making things up.
AoEs are a non-issue too, if you dodge. I’ve never seen a game that made AoEs virtually worthless, like GW2 has. I have never died to an AoE, on any of my 4, 80s, and I leveled all four of them in WvW.
Fix the rendering issues, and it will probably fix most of the issues of the game. And while you’re at it, fix the Ranger for GODS SAKE. Out of my four 80s, the Ranger just feels extremely weak in comparison.

They need to not only merge servers, but have two maps instead of four. Combine the three Borderlands maps into one single large map, so that you have it, and Eternal Battlegrounds.
Four maps allows for population issues to spiral out of control.
They really need to start merging servers.
When it was AR, GoM, and ET we outnumbered both GoM, and ET by such a large number of players, it wasn’t fun for everyone involved. I actually didn’t play but three days that week because it was boring. In the last five weeks facing Borlis Pass, they’ve gained so many numbers they even outnumber Anvil Rock by a very large margin. While it is sometimes fun to face overwhelming odds, it begins to wear on you, and becomes equally unfun.
If they’re not going to merge servers, they need to combine the three borderlands, into one large map like Eternal Battlegrounds, so that we have two maps, instead of four. And for the love of God, get rid of free transfers, it is ruining the game because of the fair weather players.
Four maps allows for population issues to spiral further out of control, especially on servers that has a large PvE, and sPvP presence like Anvil Rock has.
No contest, this will be Borlis Pass again. We’ll get to hear how they don’t have that many players, even though like right now, 3:24 am central, they take their Hills back with at least 50 players, we have the outmanned buff, while they’re also in Anvil Rock Borderlands, and we have the outmanned buff. We portal to Eternal Battlegrounds to see if we can muster something there, without fighting with the outmanned buff, and we’re still outmanned.
All the while, over night SF seems to only have like 10 players on.
Oh well, we’ll give it all we got while suffering the insults of previous weeks.

@jkctmc.8754: You still do conciderably less damage than a glasscannon build centered around power, crit, crit dmg. You are doing 120% crit damage while a glasscannon does 200% or more crit damage.
So no idea why you call it insane damage. Sure you survive longer, but you dont put even close to the same preasure a ranged glasscannon can. Most well specced/geared glasscannons, no matter what profession can effectivley “snipe” people. And much easier than a rifle warrior.
Personally I prefer longbow on warriors, feels smoother and can deal just as good (if not better) damage as rifle with a power, prec, crit dmg spec. It’s what made me go from “meh boring” to “Ooooh fun fun fun” when thinking about my warrior.
Target for Target you’re killing 1-2 seconds faster than me, but you’re going to either die, or are running in bigger fights, while I’m still doing damage, and standing strong. Over the course of a large fight, I’ve probably tripled your damage at the very least because I can’t die in a few seconds.
When I fight glass canons, they pop like zits, and I’m still above half health and never used anything to negate thier damage. Put multiple people on me, in a large scale fight, and I can negate damage 16 seconds out of the first 27 seconds of the fight, and still retain most of my damage, a situation you would die in, doing virtually no damage.
Damage isn’t all about what you can do in the first 2-6 seconds of a fight, it is what you can do the entirety of the fight.
My Warrior has over 3k attack, 3k armor, 27k hit points, and 70% critical once I enter combat.
I think you’re mistaken on your numbers, or perhaps there’s a display error on your hero panel. Maybe you could share a screen shot or your gear and build.
The only way I can think to get close to that would be with Pow/Vit/Tough gear with food buffs and a sharpening stone. Even then, you’re sacrificing precision and crit damage which means you wouldn’t be coming even close to the big numbers people are complaining about.
Even if you killed 25 mobs to get full stacks of Bloodlust or Perception, fired off your Fury signet, and stood over a banner, I don’t see these as likely numbers. I suppose if you did all this while also getting a huge stack of might from groupmates, it might be possible. Even then, your +crit damage is going to be low.
Boon of Lyssa could maybe do it, but that only lasts for 5 seconds everytime you fire off your elite.
Before I go over my stats, I want to point out traits like Heightened Focus does not show up on your character screen, but it is there, and at full adrenaline, you’re getting a bonus 9% to your critical hit chance.
In my build I gave up most of the bonus +critical hit damage for a build that is far more durable than any bunker Guardian build, and still does an insane amount of damage. Giving up the bonus +critical hit damage was only really a loss of about 20% of my total damage, which isn’t much considering what I gained.
Standing still, no buffs, taking no actions I have 1,889 power, 1,538 Precision, 1,985 Toughness, 1,505 Vitality (26,203 HP, without the WvW buff we all get), which comes out to be 2,848 attack, 31% Critical hit chance, 3,336 Armor.
By itself; “For Great Justice” puts me just above 3,000 attack, 51% Critical hit (60% with Heightened Focus). Currently I have slotted on my shield to gain 25 stacks of precision, which puts me at either 69%, or 70% critical hit. I’ll check it later to make sure. Adding in Signet of Rage, I have 3,128 Attack, and 47 seconds of Fury.
Now here is where my build takes off, and increases its damage. I utilize the number “5” shield ability to maximize; “Missile Deflection”, and “Mighty Defenses”, which will reflect ranged back to attacker, while building Might for me to burn out my first target fast. In a one on one encounter, it usually gives me 5 stacks of Might, or in a Zerg on Zerg fight, I’ve gotten easily 12 stacks of Might on it. My goal right now is to see if I can reach max stacks of Might.
This usually puts me well over 3200 attack. Lately I’ve been spending time with all of our weapons, to see how they feel, even using the Longbow to see if I can maximize that increase in Condition Damage. The number “3” attack for Longbow is hitting for 4-6k for me, before you calculate in the burn damage, and the “F1” ability is awesome. So for the next two months I’ll be visiting all weapons for two weeks each for research.
My main, bread and butter are my Mace+Shield, which allows me to do quite a bit, even standing in the center of a Zerg, and living, while dishing out damage, weakening them only to watch my team roll over them while they were focused on me.
I’ve tested this against other Glass Canons, who kill 1-2 seconds faster than me, but they can not take a hit, and are usually running, or dying, while I stay in the fight, rarely dying unless I make a mistake.
So I don’t miss that bonus +critical hit damage.
P.S. I still have two pieces of Beserker gear, boots/helm that I havn’t switched over to Knights gear, though I’m considering Valkyrie(sp?) for those two slots. Most of the gear is Knights, with four pieces of armor being Heavy Arcon having the Power/Toughness/Vitality. My jewelry is Rare, not Exotic yet because I replaced all my Exotic Beserker gear, so when I replace those with Exotic, the stats are only going to go up. I also slot orbs/crests in my armor for an increase in three stats, rather than slotting runes.
P.S.S. My build currently because I’m currently testing Longbow as my second weapon set is….
Defense (20) V, IX
Tactics (30) IV, VIII, XII
Discipline (20) I, V
Even though I weapon swap a lot, I’m considering removing 10 points from Discipline, and doing Strength (10) V, and Disc (10) V, but I need to test it and see if the 12% damage in strength is greater than; “Mighty Defenses”.
P.S.S.S. I have 4, 80s. All geared out in Exotic gear; Ranger, Warrior, Thief, and Guardian. No other class has felt more complete than the Warrior, and none of them can attain the damage, AND defense that I’ve been able to get on my Warrior. Sadly I’ve also come up with a Thief bunker build that is more durable than my Guardian is in WvW. Yet people still cry about the Guardian, when they’re subpar, and every nerf, like the recent heal on dodge roll nerf is crushing the class.

Not only from the enemy side – it’s common for a player to enter a map, see the outmanned buff on his/her team, and immediately switch to another map.
My guild looks for the outmanned buff, so we can be on that map.
