What do you mean you don’t see anything justifying the numbers coming off? You mean a ranger thats burning your warrior down? Most of your stats come from the armor so maybe thats why your ranger doesn’t put off that condition damage? From my testing, my opinion is that 1000 condition damage is about where opponets really start to “feel” it.

I’m talking about attacking someone, and seeing a 341 tick, but no poison on the target.

Well 1000 Condition is about 100 damage per bleed tick. This is pretty much where I’ve stopped at on all my condition builds anymore, so I can bring up precision, for Omnom Ghost procs for extra healing/staying power. After 1000 condition, the trade off isn’t worth it for me, to gain say 21 more damage per tick.

My Ranger has over 3k Attack, 3k Armor, and 1k Condition damage on top of having over 50% critical hit to proc my “on crit sigils”, and Omnom Ghosts, thanks to Po-Pr-To armor, and Pr-To-ConDam Jewelry and slotting Superior Rune of Undead to put my Condition Damage to where I need it, thanks to the Toughness I have on every piece of gear.

Healing Spring + Sigil of Purity + Sigil of Generosity makes the high Tougness amazing when Conditions are not as potent against you.

I run Shortbow, and Axe/Axe. Considering trading Axe/Axe for Sword/Dagger.

A) need to hit you for initiative

We do not need to hit for inititiative, at all.

Initiative is a skill cost mechanic unique to the thief profession. It replaces recharge on the thief’s weapon skills with a pool of twelve points which are spent when the skills are used and gradually returns over time. Using initiative the thief is able to tactically attack an opponent with their own chains and bursts of damage until they run out of the resource. Initiative is represented by twelve diamond-shaped indicators above the weapon skill slots.

Critical Strikes Opportunist: Critical hits have a 20% chance to restore one initiative (1-second cooldown).
First Strikes: 10% increased damage when initiative is over 6.
Signet Use: Gain 2 initiative when activating a signet. Reduces signet recharge by 20%.
Shadow Arts Infusion of Shadow: Gain 2 initiative when using a skill that stealths you.
Patience: Regain initiative faster while in stealth.
Acrobatics Quick Pockets: Gain 3 initiative on weapon swap while in combat.
Quick Recovery: Gain 2 initiative every 10 seconds.
Trickery Kleptomaniac: Stealing gives you 3 initiative.
Preparedness: Increases maximum initiative by 3.
Lead Attacks: Increases damage by 1% per initiative.
Hastened Replenishment: You receive 4 initiative when using a heal skill.
Initial Strike: Attacks with the first weapon-skill slot have a 7% chance to regain 1 initiative.

That would be a sign of an epicly bad Thief. This is why Sword/Dagger is better than Dagger/Dagger. It cracks me up that you think Heartseeker is the only closer a Thief has.

Steal = 900 range – Requires Target
Infiltrators Arrow = 900 range – Does not require Target, and applies Blind in a Blast radius, large enough to hit the Ranger you’re chasing who just used Swoop gaining a 1,100 range from you.
Infiltrators Signet = 900 range – Requires Target
Infiltrators Strike = 600 range – Requires Target, but will put a circle down without a target to teleport back to. The Teleport back to ability has no range, as long as you utilize it while it is still available.
Shadowstep = 1200 range – And allows for a return when you want to use it.

No, they do not, and after the above I do not have the energy to keep showing you, your mistakes. Not only can we remove quite a few conditions (especially in stealth) we can create an evasion build that makes the Rangers evasion look weak.

If you can dodge their attacks and prevent them from landing anything while chasing you through traps, I have a theory that they can be beaten. But this is unorthodox 1v1 and I personally have never defeated a good one. Your best bet is to outrun them when you see them.

Putting your back to a good Thief, is a death sentence. Learn to strafe, and strafe a lot. Your pet is our best friend, because the pet can not dodge us, therefore gives us a permanent target. If a Thief stealths, use a melee weapon swinging where you saw him, an where you think he went. Greatsword is best for this.

For the record, durzilla’s sun spirit build lets me get them ito shadow refuge…that’s about as close to beating a good thief that I’ve ever come to in a 1v1 type situation.

I don’t even have Shadow Refuge slotted anymore.

Fear makes them unstealth and they can still be hit with conditions, AoEs, or cleaves when stealthed.

Fear only unstealths you if you’re in Shadow Refuge and you run out of it. AoEs force them to dodge, but that can be a good thing. Cleaves work best.

Most of all, you have to play extremely aggressive against a Thief, and hope you can make them run.

I use the simple aspect of “bleed and poison numbers are flying off of their toon” to know if I hit them in combat, for vuln I’ve just tested in the mists because it lasts long enough to just click on the golems.

As a Condition Necro, and Condition/BM built Ranger I often see numbers that appear to be conditions, yet there are no conditions to justify the numbers I see. I’m sure everyone has seen this by now.

So just seeing numbers is not; “evidence of” something existing.

I’ve been working on a parser to capture everything that is happening, but it works one minute, and not the next. Once me and about six others can figure out how to get the parse working 100% of the time, I can correct many of the misconceptions, and misleadings many spread on the forums.

I’ll give you two some fuel though, for your; “Rangers are fine diatribe”. Since the patch out of my 6 exotic geared toons, in WvW I am starting to feel like my Warrior, and Guardian are now my weakest classes, out of and in order of power; (Mesmer, Thief, Necromancer, Ranger, Guardain, and Warrior).

My company has booked enough jobs though to keep me extremely busy until October, so I will not be able to run sufficient tests, so if you could provide more information in regards to potential “stealth” nerfs that might have happened to these two classes; “in WvW” it would be mighty kind of you.

It is applied to the arrow, read the tooltip. “Your next two attacks…” refers to you, the ranger, not the pet.

Edit: nope I’m wrong it is applied to the pet’s attack. Again, another misleading tooltip. I never noticed it before due to landing the spider’s hit simultaneously. My bad. Fix your tooltips ANeT. And make venom apply to the arrow! :p

Anyone else feel like this tier is really competitive until Ebay Sekz guild shows up? Without them, hard for me to imagine Ebay staying green or moving up.

Sekz gives a lot of badges, and they’re not any stronger than Ebays other two large guilds. The larger guilds are a bit more productive though, since they’re always flipping our keeps.

Necro minions and Ranger pets need to be as smart as the Mesmer’s Illusions. On my Mesmer my illusions will always track stealthed players, and immediately attack them once they become visible.

There is no reason for minions not to do the same.

An increase range on Ballistas, and a 25% increase in damage will be a Zerg buster. Ten of these, and you won’t get near a keep/tower without first building Catapults, and/or Trebuchets.

I’d hate to walk into a supply camp with well placed Ballista, with the operators having this.

Not only did Xsorus spend money, he spent time. A great deal of which he used to help others with builds and such for a class that has now let him down enough he feels he has to quit it. Sure it’s just a game, but it’s also time and money.

Having spent 2331 hours playing myself, my main being a guardian (1498 hours) with a legendary.. if this (what happened to ranger) is what became of my main class, I’d be pretty kitten annoyed too. Luckily for me I’ve only put in 430 hours on my ranger.

Rangers are definitely a viable PvP class. I spend most of my time in WvW and sPvP. I actually think those 3 changes op mentioned are great. The only thing I would add is if you are moving and use your pets f2, have the pet stop and fire off that skill. It is a pain when I am trying to use my fern hounds regen howl for it to keep canceling itself out because it is trying to move with me.

Also check out my WvW video I made a few weeks ago. It at least demonstrates my playstyle in WvW and proves we are a good class! It just takes time to master.

I would expect them to be more realistic. Do you really think I have the time to level 6 toons to 300, let alone spend the time to level 6 toons for other Wxp rewards? The least they could have done before I leveled 6 80s, and geared them out, was to warn me that I’d be forced to spend my time on one toon, if I wanted to enjoy WvW perks, BEFORE I leveled the other toons.

You champion thier choices like other failed MMOs, like Age of Conan, wher epeople also didn’t hold the devs accountable, and the game died. Do you want that to happen to GW2?

I know you like the game, and you want to defend what they have done, but so did people in games like Age of Conan, and other failed games that are no longer being played.

If you don’t want this game you obviously love to be another MMO failure, hold the devs accountable for their actions, or you’ll be playing this game alone.

They did not deliver half of what they said they would this patch, for example many Ranger fixes, Necromancer fixes, and so on. The rank system, and rewards is so bad, I could have created the backbone for a much better system within an hour.

Lol wut? I’ve never once said the changes to QUICKNESS was a buff, I know it nerfed spike damage, I’m not denying that I’ve just said the SKILL QZ has been buffed. Huge difference… I have nothing to really add to this post, his math is accurate, no need to insult me for “trolling” when I’m just more adaptive with my builds.

This is circular logic.

First, and foremost if you’re forced to use a stun break, get this; “you are being attacked” therefore using QZ as a stun break puts a detriment upon you, where you can not be healed. Why is this an issue you might ask? Well as I pointed out, you were already being attacked, so now you’re taking damage you can’t heal, and multiple classes in this game can easily kill you in five seconds, most importantly though, you can now be stunned, immobilized, crippled, or chilled, making it even easier to kill you. There are not diminishing returns for CC in this game.

Secondly, the nerf to QZ far outweighs what you call a buff. Therefore the only conclusion from this is that you’re choosing to rile peoples feathers by calling an obvious nerf, a buff. Why is that?

Yeah Arcing Arrow has always hit as hard as the Thieves Cluster Bomb. Full glass canon both can hit for 9k damage easily, and get this, Arcing Arrow is also a blast finisher.

Defending keeps, and towers seems to be ignored no matter what. The most boring aspect of the game, never gets rewarded even though you put in a lot of work to acheive something.

Defenders are the unsung heroes.

I actually looked at websites to sell my account of 5 fully geared 80s. I’m so annoyed with how they’re treating this game, and the fact they don’t deliver on anything they say they will is absurd.

Get out of PvE, and look at what is actually going on in WvW. You’ve been attacking us non-stop since we’ve been in this tier, and we’re holding true. I mean we could continue to wipe you, if you’d like, or you could pull off some amazing PvDoor, but for the most part we’ve been fighting EBay all week, and enjoying it. Even on the occasions Borliss, and Ebay have hit us, both with superior numbers, we’ve held pretty strong.

No one will think ill of you for admitting we wiped you multiple times tonight. It’s ok, I promise. And if you need a shoulder, mine is available.

You guys have been; “in” the zerg, and *"following*" the zerg all night. Quit trying to deny it. The screenshots already show that you have. You have to be the only person in your guild not having fun, even when you’re dying. The rest have been pretty happy with the fights back and forth. It must suck you can’t enjoy this game as much as the rest of us.

The multiple wipes we caused you in Greenbriar, Bay, and Hills were not as good as wiping your Portal/Stealth bomb South of Hills on the bridge, shortly after having to wipe Borliss who was behind you chasing you or something.

How about that Hills just now, when our peeps from Eternal BGs showed up while you were on northern inner gate?

Dont get mad and make up things. Thanks for giving Bay back with your marriage proposal, while a select few held you off. You’ve been running with a very large crew all night. Let me jog your memory on one of the failures earlier, after we held off the breakout, and wiped you multiple times coming into a wooden tower, when you had a lot of siege at your back.

The numbers have been pretty even all night, and everyone has had thier fair share of wipes.
