“LFG Zerker only pls! Gear Check.”
Links gear in inventory, wears PVT
I don’t get the gear check. Really? It’s just insulting elitism that serves no purpose. If you want zerker geared, say so, but leave the “Gear Check” crap out. If I wanted to do dungeons and fractals, which I have 0 interest in, I would probably be very tempted to troll these groups.
You can go one step further and copy/paste the item # from the wiki into chat. Itd be hilarious to link ascended zerker armor in one of those groups while wearing rare soldiers gear. I bet 99% of those groups would never come close to noticing.
Ever noticed when a player links an item in chat they picked up or are wearing the font is gold. Where as if someone copy & pastes an item it shows up as white font. Saw this happen with dusk. Kind of a give away really.
I just tested it and it doesn’t work.
I copied and pasted the code for Dusk from the wiki in-game and it came up with orange text.
I’d guess what you’ve seen is someone posting the code for an item that could have several different tiers (like most looted items), and the code they copied happened to be for the white version.
Interesting as I saw it happen in the coil event farming. A player either picked up dusk or had in their inventory, link it, came up gold. Another person did the same & the text was white or black/white. Figured they pasted it from an external source.
Just tried it myself. Control & V. The text was black.

Be nice if we could buy stack of items from karma vendors in one hit too. Sun beads being a find example. Trying purchasing 3000 of those.

1. Playing the game for the first time
2. Experiencing the different landscapes while leveling
3. Getting 100% world completion on one char after 14 months of play
4. Picking up dusk twice within a 4 minute period from the mystic forge
5. Being picked & flung over a wall at Shelters gate camp in Orr by one of the champs
If the lottery is already, why not notify all participants that they did not Won … Not to mention the consolation prize. Because I brought about 300+ (Shiny Foil Candy Wrapper) and sit in the hope that not all the prizes handed out.
Like any ‘lottery’, don’t get your hopes up.
Yeah, last week one of the servers we faced had about 4 times the score of both others (blacktide) and the funny thing was they camped us, and if they managed to kill someone 20 versus 1 they started dancing corpses as if that made them good players… the irony.
This kind of gameplay is inherently sad and broken.
The camping is particularly annoying when one side is vastly dominant. Never worked out how anyone enjoys the game when doing their best to deny other sides an opportunity to play when they are no threat to the result.
This is why I always thought keeps/garrisons should be flipped back after a certain period of time & give them immunity from attack to at least give sides some sort of opportunity to try & build defenses up.

Superb!
Edge of the mists.
Crafting – although can be expensive.
Haha. So you experience the same as any other player/gender in game!
The people who farm is the stupid , i dont know why they buy the game if they only do the same thing all the time like farming Chests , Queensdale , Candy Elementals , Frostgorge Sound etc….
You just play the game and have fun . Dont bother the others , if your map is full of stupid people , then go to another.
What is the point to have all the gold of the game if you cant have fun? , So you are working (i really dont think someone enjoy to farm like a chinese worker) in a game for fiction money, that doesnt have a real valor , For what? to have your precious legendary? so what is next?
When i crafted my legendary i learned that gold doesnt have any valor , so i just give my gold to other who need it for little things , so they dont need to work for it and we can play the GAME
No doubt players all have own idea of what is fun. This will include farming events for chests.
Well guys, I just played from around 5-9pm and had a close look at taxis and maps themselves.
Result: Literally (yes I know what that word means and I stand by it) no taxis to organized SW maps for most of the time – funnily enough I saw 2 taxis to Dry Top over the course of those 4 hours. LFG entries consisted of around 90% ‘lfg taxi for -insert legendary-’
Primetime EU and there were probabaly 1-2 map tops that did the defense with more than 0-1 commander. 1 Taxi I took had 1 commander, another had 2 but after the following breach it fell apart and people just left -> 0 commanders again. Despite desperately trying to get on a decent map, everytime I ended on a promising one, it only had no more than 2 commanders and 2/3 forts.
The breach event usually ended with 1 or 2 defeated bosses.Well, I really dislike the hate people throw at ANet but the map seems as good as dead, at least on the EU side.
Not just on the EU side.
Hm that’s good to hear. I really would’ve liked to play it a bit more but as it is now, it’s just not fun with only a handful of people. The thing with SW is that the less people there are, the less profitable and more importantly the less fun it gets.
Agreed & for the ones of us still trying to finish the achievements it sucks.

you won’t be getting good loot/income as far as ANet is making money through Gem store and gems -> gold is the thing. So basically you can do three things:
1. suck it up and force yourself to have fun with no rewards
2. play only PvP
3. start playing another MMO
The reward system changed at some point did it not? due to bots farming etc. Please correct me if I am wrong. Positive the game was vastly more rewarding loot wise last year & the year before.
Now I know why the map is suddenly empty. Found people were doing both; events & chest farming. They would chest farm in between events.
What makes this annoying is trying to get all the achievements with very few players around to help.
As for the loot, it’s not spectacular anyway. Lets face it, loot in this game has been poor for a while now.Yeah, feel a little bad for people who can’t finish their achievements now, but having all achievements I see no point in going back there now when other places give more loot. 3 rares for 5 champs after 40 min killing non-loot mobs, when I can get the same amount of loot in 20 min in Orr.. My inner skritt says: No.
More or less got laughed at in another thread, when stating about getting two rare items from roughly four hours of gameplay with 522% magic find. So I fully understand where you’re coming from.
Went back to Orr that night & picked up 5 in an hour.

As for the loot, it’s not spectacular anyway. Lets face it, loot in this game has been poor for a while now.I do find it ironic. People hated chest farms cause no one completed the events (not true in the maps I was on, people were still holding on to 3-4 forts. only amber was held in the late hours, as less people were on anyway). Now, I’m logging in, and no forts are held at all, or just one.
Yes, ironic alright. No commanders tags, very few players.
I am predominantly a WvW player. Try doing nothing other than that for a month several hours a day. You’ll know what being unrewarded feels like.
Found the rewards (champs) in WvW to be better than a lot of stuff in pve, always received more rare & exotic items. Made a lot of gold playing world vs world.
Unfortunately, I’ve yet to join instance where all forts are being held, let alone being 3+ :<
Had been fortunate enough to be involved in events where people were defending forts, supplying rubble, repairing, running with pack bulls. Battling the champs & doing the chest farm in between all those events. Now the map is basically empty.
People were getting the best of both worlds, at least on the instances I was fortunate enough to be involved with.

This is my second night roaming around Silverwastes & people are doing the events, defending, running with pack bulls. This is happening at all forts. Exactly the same as last night. Very few chests have been unearthed.
There are farm maps, there are normal maps, and there are organized maps. There are plenty of all three. Just use lfg to get into the type of map you want.
I know that.
Was trying to get the point across that not all players are solely farming chests & the events are being completed.

Looking forward to LA returning to its former glory, music or no music. Same with Kessex Hills. Never taken any notice of the music in LA…..must have a listen.
You’re not wrong. In two years of playing this game i have managed to obtain 5 giant eyes from loot drops.
I knew this was going the happen the moment i learned that Silverwastes will not have a “Sandstorm” mechanic when it comes to chests.
In my opinion, they could tone it down by lengthening the time out period by another 5 minutes, but making the chests farmable only during this period, making it essentialy a “You farmed your crests, now you got 10 minutes to use them” period. The moment the events start rolling, the shovels would become unusable until the next time out. Which also should lead to making the Shovels a buyable item for crests. The big positive side for this farm would be the fact that people are finally able to afford those high end items they really wanted, but never had the time to dedicate hours of time to them like Ascended items, Legendary weapons, or the very rare Mystic Forge exotics (like Whisperblade etc).
The big negative is that it has become the be-all end-all farming spot. Everything else pales in comparision – halloween lab, dungeons, world boss farming etc. – nothing brings you such sheer profit as the chest farm. I personally don’t think that it’s a healthy thing for this world to have that. Some zones and areas of the game are already kind of abandoned (Fractals are such a pain to organize through lfg these days), and this is only worsening this problem. So, either tone it down, or make other alternatives just as attractive.
People were doing all events tonight & farming chests when they dropped. There were not huge amounts of people either. Eventually the novelty will die off, unless players start picking up lots of exotic items, including precursors.
Map completion has changed to some degree. Twice I have found new area’s added to map completion, because the one char with 100% went back to 99% on both occasions. One area is in Brisbane Wildlands (think it ties in with Dry Top) & the other in Caledon Forest.
Yeah, lets nerf everything. The loot so far has not been any better than you get elsewhere. At least for me. 522% magic find while running the events, which gave 2 rare items from all the bags collected. Like most other events items dropped are mostly green, blue & white. Good for increasing base magic find.
This was from a 4 hour period.2 rare items in 4 hours? I get more than that killing moas in queensdale. such lies
The magic find is pretty useless in Silverwaste cuz the mobs doesnt drop items so often. Sometime a green, a blue, a rare….the real farm are the crests, the bandit chests and the bonus rewards for completing the events(got 2 exos from that), all stuff that isnt affected by mf.
Which leads to the question of why we get such a large boost in mf while in Silverwaste?
Wait for the event to be completed.

It’s fact. Only 2 rare items dropped. A piece of armor plus a sword.
Certainly not the first time this has happened. Some days I get a few, others I get very little.

Mournsword
Mournsword is the name of a set of containers that contain swords of the same name. The weapons are leveling equipment (introduced in September) and have stats 3 levels higher than the required level.
Acquisition
The containers can drop as loot anywhere in the game.
This would be fine if the weapons actually scaled level to the area they were picked up from. Fail to see why level 55 or 65 items drop in level 80 zones.

Unaware if anyone has raised this topic before or even if this is the appropriate area of the forum for posting.
Running around Orr. More than once account bound weapons dropped from enemy npc. This would be find if the weapons were of the same level as the maps or the player.
As an example I received mournsword which is level 55. Yesterday a level 65 item dropped. Why are lower level items dropping in area’s like Orr?
Have a look at this link.

If you look in the wardrobe it actually says with which episode the pieces become available.
Not sure about the leveling side as it has changed since I last leveled a character to 80. Do some research on NPE – new player experience.
As for gold. Found playing world vs world on a regular basis is/was a great way to increase gold levels. Same can be said for crafting. Farming & selling T6 mats is another way, although you need to be level 80.
Selling rare items, exotic items & even precursors if you are fortunate to get one you don’t need (or get one at all).
The Halloween event was great for creating income. You could sell ToT bags, candy corn cobs & so forth.
Breaking down items to their base components can be yet another way to generate income. 250 silk scraps might net you 8 gold or there about. Certain ingredients you can gather can also give nice amounts of gold, when you let them stack up to lots of 250.

Yes it happens. To my thinking, by players taking the game too seriously. All players were new to the world vs world format at some stage. Being new means a learning curve.
Remember well joining world vs world for the first time. Helping to defend Stonemist castle. Part of the outer wall was down, so I proceeded to start repairing. A group of players advised me to not repair the wall, which would have been fine without the verbal abuse thrown.
In the end I told one particular player to take a hike.
Guiding new players is one thing, deciding to abuse them is another.
Make your own weapons, armor, food etc. Plus it can provide a source of income.
oh, another idea!
be on the char that learned the recipe
search the TP for “recipe: superior rune of the mad king”
mouse-over each of the 3 recipes. It has some info about it, including if you’ve already learned it or not. Just find the one that says “Recipe learned” or w/e it says, in red I believe.
! of course
30 minute magic find buff. Same with the experience from kills.
I’d love the mad moon or the crossing if they’re part of the skins being given out. Although with the amount of candy wrappers submitted I do not like my chances.
I haven’t seen Magic Find on utilities before. Maybe they think it’ll be popular (hence the 78c minimum sell price), but since Magic Find is such an unknown, purposefully obscured factor, I suspect people won’t bother.
How magic find works might be debated but now that I’ve gotten mine up to 147 I’ve started getting rares drop more frequently and I even got an exotic drop from a random low level mob. I think the last exotic I’ve gotten from a mob was over a year ago before they nerfed the old farms in Orr.
My base magic find went from 91% up to 166% over a three month period, thanks largely to the Halloween event. Rare drops do not appear to have increased for me.
Same with magic find boosters, whether it be food, magic find boosts from guilds, magic find boosters from black lion chests, bonfires, sharpening skulls & crystallized nougat.
Often wondered if the magic find boosts are bugged or have very limited impact on drop rates for rare, exotic & precursors.
Fact is I have had better drops without the extra boosts.
Don’t forget about maize balm. No doubt lots of players will have some stored for future use, which in turn could help keep the price down or keep the demand for ToT bags lower.
The rewards were similar to sanctum sprint. Being a villager was a waste of time. The other annoyance were ghost players camping in the village spawn point, downing anyone spawning.

When the recipe dropped I failed to take any notice of which discipline it was for. The char used was low level in all crafting aspects. Decided to get leather working up to 400 on said char, still was not able to craft the rune.
Bought another recipe from the trading post. It said armor smith. Suspect the one dropped was probably the same.
The Minor Mad King runes can be discovered.
The Major and Superior versions must be learned from a recipe sheet. Since the Major recipes are much cheaper (and were much more abundant in previous Halloweens), did you perhaps learn those then and forgot about it?
Only recipe from this event was the Superior one today.
Did you learn it on that character? If so, yes, only THAT character can craft the runes. All recipes learned from recipe sheets are bound to that specific character who used the item.
Okay. Yet I can craft the minor & major runes on other characters. That’s a real pain as this char is only level 115. Go figure.
Leather worker option not available either. This is odd. Over level 400 on all crafting, have all the ingredients……
Now wondering if the recipe is bound to the char I was running through the lab.
There are three unique recipes for Sup Rune of the Mad King, one for Tailor, one for Leatherworker, and one for Armorsmith. Make sure that you’ve learned the correct one on your crafter.
Thanks. I’ll look at the leather worker option as it cannot be created using armor smith or tailor.
I picked up this recipe from a chest in the lab today. Yet I cannot craft the runes using the recipe ingredients shown on the wiki

Not sure what to do about this.
They seam only on US-servers? I played for about 2.5k hours on Gandara – one of the biggest EU-servers and never saw any anet guild tag.
Encountered one when I was on Ruins of Surmia. Outside of that all other occasions have been on NA.
Back during my time on the EU it was reasonably easy to get map completion due to one sided nature of certain match ups. Now I am on a silver level NA server & maps are always contested. So getting completion is going to take an age (2 or 3 chars sitting at 96%).
Another option is to take completion out of world vs world.
Create instances of the borderlands & Eternal Battlegrounds maps solely for people seeking completion.
What a fantastic idea!
