My mouse is acting like the windows key when using skills. This started happening after purchasing HoT. Use a skill with the mouse pointer, game minimizes to desktop. Using skills with the assigned number keys, they work as intended.
As stated above, my mouse cursor is acting like the windows key. Hit a skill with the mouse, game minimizes to desktop. Use the skills with number keys only, skills work as intended.
This started happening after purchasing HoT. Are other players also experiencing this?
Got it all worked out now, thanks for your help peoples.
Okay. So I ventured into HoT today. Got my staff.
My question is. Which skill do we need to activate the staff? Is it just staff proficiency or the whole tree of skills?
My staff tells me the weapon is not usable by my profession.
The Mad King outfit does not display as it should on one of my characters. Why this is is beyond me. Only effects my human mesmer. Displays correctly on all other characters.
Is there a solution for this?

Sounds like a cross between a truck horn & someone passing wind. Either change it back to the original or make it sound like King Toad horn.
Seen quite a few players wearing white wings. Almost none with the black ones.
From over 6000 hours of game play. No precursor has ever dropped for me from an event or mob. In saying this, I did pick up some through the forge, although it can be a very costly exercise.
No. That sounds ridiculous. Why would I want to celebrate Wintersday in July? That’s like celebrating Halloween in August, or Easter in September. Leave the holiday events in their proper order. It makes them special and something to look forward to. If anything they should have a Summer Festival.
Because it is winter in the southern hemisphere.
The seasonal events are based on northern hemisphere seasons, cannot see this changing in the future.
Approx 6100 hours over 32 months.
Back too after a break, although a lot shorter than yours. Where is everybody? Go to Cursed Shore daily, only to find the maps fairly empty & same with Silverwastes, as I had assumed there would be a multitude of players there looking for portal keys.
I notice that SW is packed atm. You are prob unlucky enough to be getting into low population shards because so many have filled up by people using lfg to hop into the busier shards. There is definitely no shortage of people in SW.
Orr, well I find people in all zones thanks to the megaserver, but people will do Orr less since there is little reason or incentive to keep doing those zones now that everyone is in dry top and SW
Did not think about the lfg tool.

Can add to this.
Last July I had a run of RNG ‘luck’ with the mystic forge. Picked up 4 precursors in one night. Two dusk’s within 4 minutes of one another. My gold went up significantly from selling those items.
Thought to myself. “Now have an opportunity to get the precursor needed, plus have gold left over for mats”.
Never got the precursor, lost most of my gold down the forge (approx 2800g). Since then I have thrown at least another 2500g worth of items into the forge with nothing in return.
Learned my lesson. Should have held onto the gold from those 4 precursors & let my gold increase from doing events, selling junk & bought a legendary from the tp.
As no precursors ever dropped for me outside of the mystic forge, it seemed like the only avenue for gaining one, outside of farming gold for weeks on end & buying one.
Diminishing returns & nerfs? Is magic find broken? My mesmer was running 405% Mf with boosts. Engineer only 175%. Picked up far more ‘gold’ loot items with the engineer.
Go through periods where few rare or exotic items drop. Other times they seem to fall from the sky, while doing dynamic events.
Do okay from chests when it comes to rare items. However, exotic items are few & far between. Usually exotics drops from mobs for me while doing dynamic events.
As for magic find. Don’t think it has any influence on what we get from chests.

Whether or not this helps I do not know (without reading all posts). One account with 6021 play time. Yet to have a precursor drop from any world boss, champ, event, world vs world etc. Assuming we are talking precursors when it comes to RNG? If not & this is about exotic loot in general, then I have done okay.
Not had a key, yet got a chest today.
Got one as well. Did not buy the heroic or deluxe edition. Nor did I participate in the beta.
Just came back to the game after a six week break or thereabout. Anyway, thanks Anet!
Warrior.
End of thread.
they looks nice on preview but when i see it on players they just seem not properly placed.
….. and oh, charr with wings = griffon
The running animation looks odd.
wow, people actually defend the abominable RNG in this game. I guess you drones will eat anything.
To be honest I expected more people to agree with me, I find surprising that so many people defend the rng system.
The rng is this game is terrible as lot of us know. OP, its no worse than playing this game for 27 months & never having a precursor drop. Or throwing 1250 rare & 56 exotic (approx) greatswords in forge consecutively (today) without obtaining a precursor. No doubt many others could share their frustrations over rng.
That must be so disappointing, if that happens to me I think I would stop playing for a while.
Annoying! Not enough to make stop playing the game though. If I was the only player with this type of luck, perhaps lol.
Haha. Guilty of this today. Because I saw players running around with those awesome wings, which are available for a limited time.

5 random drops for me, from cursed shore over the last 3 months or so. From boss events & mobs.
They dont exist as random drops. Dont lie.
Not a lie, check your facts before making accusations. You can obtain them from heavy moldy bags.
I think he thought you meant direct drops from mobs, not contents of bags.
Mobs drop moldy bags, as in risen, individual or groups. So they do drop from them directly.

They do indeed drop from mobs, but they drop even less often than precursors do. The best way to get keys (without buying from the gem store) is to do map completion. You have a chance of either a transmutation charge or a key for every map completed (with the exception of cultural city maps, which only give you the trans charge). Other than that, there is personal story. You get one after finishing the level 10, 40, and 60 personal stories. And I believe one of the Living Story 2 chapters gives you a key (the Labyrinth one, maybe)?
I’ve had a few keys drop from mobs, yet never a precursor.
I agree definitely, no other mmo that i have played has been as mean and brutal towards other players especially to new players who stumble into an exp dungeon for the first time. Not even WoW is that bad during heroic dungeons, people are extremely helpful. The fact that a majority of “elite” gw2 players kick other players out of dungeons just because their AP arent in the thousands is ridiculous which is an absolutley terrible way to judge skill. Im a newer player and my brother is the one who brought me into gw2 and hes been playing since 2013 but his AP’s are only in the 900’s because he plays casually and he still gets kicked just because of that.
The whole AP issue has to be a fallacy. My AP is over 12k. Does not make me skilled at running dungeons. More to the point, I know I am not skilled when it comes to dungeons.
Would need to be an Oceanic server or SEA, for it to be a remotely viable option.

no precursor drop
Yeah .. scale them up to champions .. and then we finally will have again a new Queensdale Train ..
.. oh .. wait ..
Surely they can upscale events without adding champs.
Yes to this. another thing players can do is tag or kill a couple of enemy, then step back & let other players do the same. Hopefully this would allow most , if not all to at least tag enemy.
Still enjoy pve.
World bosses
Slowly working toward map completion for 5 alts
trying to bolster my gold (see below)
Waiting for the ‘mythical’ precursor drop & then maybe crafting a legendary.
Also enjoy world vs world on a casual basis
Yeah, the golem can be a pain. But I didn’t have much trouble on my necro. Focus 5 is a boon strip, plus you have well of corruption and corrupt boon to strip boons. You can use flesh golem as a meat shield while you try to burst as much damage as you can. Use deathshroud often to stay alive.
I’ve not done it on a thief, but using Thieves Guild would probably help a bit if you start with that.
just tried it and it does work.
but my thief and ranger are still failing miserably.
ranger takes 3-4 deaths(with heals and a sylvari hound heal) while thief….yeah that burst kills me before i can pop the heal.
i also got a warrior in the mission just now…..easier to stay alive with but alot slower to win cause i have to spend such long periods of time just kiting without attacking while health trickles back.
Try using the devour pet with the ranger. If you have two, even better. For whatever reason the enemy/monsters really dislike devours & target them while paying little attention to the ranger. Might not stop a ranger dying, although it could cut down the amount of times the ranger dies.
When this is implemented expect constant Golem rushes by overpopulated servers..
Bye bye trying to keep up with servers that have 3 times the numbers.
Those could be a common occurrence before the change, depending on which side’s you were facing.
I’m on T3. Found the change refreshing to say the least. Even though we came a distant second, it gave our server the opportunity to cap the winning server’s territory. Before this change, they would have come along with their zerg/blob & steam rolled us. Heck, we even got lord room gates down in their keep before the blob overwhelmed us. No way this would have happened in the past.
The non white swords are going to have little impact on PPT. It does make life a lot easier for servers with smaller populations to roam & cap without being wiped 90% of the time.
Got world vs world monthly achievements yesterday. Still working for me.
It is the specific monthly related to completing the daily that’s not recording the new daily properly.
Okay.
Got world vs world monthly achievements yesterday. Still working for me.
Took me an hour to find & complete 4 events in Iron Marches yesterday, due to the large amount of players clearing events. Like you I’m fine with the changes, even if some can become a source of frustration.
Explorer Plinx is stuck approximately halfway to Caer Shadowfain, Cursed Shore. This has been the case for at least 12 hours, probably longer.
I was feeling sorry for the new players who where blasted away by a big Zerg train of high level players in Queensdale hunting for dailies last day. There was no event to be found for them in time. Thats what you get with a narrow pool of daily pve goals. It was the Champ train al over again, So much for promoting friendly healthy gameplay.
Yes! Right on the money. It was tough enough trying to tag enemies with so many other level 80 players around for each event, as the npc die so quickly at low level.
Kitten help any low level players. This should have covered all Krytan maps as with the logging.
Hi, there
I am a student, I have a job, a girlfriend, I do NOT get any money from my parents and played GW2 form the very beginning. I got 4 legenderies and will soon hit the 22K AP (I only mention that, cause it seems to matter in this thread).
AND I love this patch! It’s great, because I get rewarded for just doing my stuff. And even if I have to port to a certain area to do some stuff. I don’t care, because earlier I had to do that, too… But now I only have to port max 3 times. Before that patch, I had to port as often or even more AND had to do pvp or wvw to get the same daily AP.
So, I don’t get, where your problem is? I mean, okay we lost some options, but we only have to get 3 achieved…
I don’t get it…
Odd. Got most of my dailies done on one map before this update. There were very few times I had to travel elsewhere. Not that traveling concerns me for that matter.
It’s a good change.
It rewards people who enjoy all areas of content, incentivizes players to try other forms of content, and is possible for people who refuse to expand their horizons.Exactly this.
I like how the immediate reaction I see is “WTF now I have to do XYZ?!”. Yes, well, what did you think the previous implementation was for? Only, it never really ended up doing that.So now the factual rewards are automated (so people can’t complain about missing out on their laurels/coins), while the actual dailies try to entice you to play more varied.
Is close to perfect. Not quite there yet, but a very good implementation of the underlying idea.
The logging achievement. Visit six different maps to obtain logs & the achievement. Why? What is the point (could make life difficult for any low level/ new players). The old gathering achievement was sufficient.
It’s one continent for each specific possible daily logging achievement (Kryta, Ascalon, Maguuma Jungle, Shiverpeaks, Orr, Maguuma Wastes). So visiting one zone is very very much enough.
Also, consider how the old achievement failed: Few players would not gather at all every day. It didn’t give you any incentive to go out of your way to do something different or try something (again). It was just some added rewards on top of what you already did (which you still get, via log-in rewards).
Ha yeah. Was just re-reading the achievement & realized I got that wrong. Got confused when 0 points were rewarded. Then looked at the others, they were 0 too.
I’m all for change & not necessarily against these changes. 3 did bother me though.
1. The mystic forge achievement relied on throwing 4 items in & hoping you got an item back, which was different from the items thrown in. Achievements like this could turn the forge into even more of a gold sink.
2. The logging achievement. Visit six different maps to obtain logs & the achievement. Why? What is the point (could make life difficult for any low level/ new players). The old gathering achievement was sufficient.
3. Visiting one vista from a choice of six Ascalon maps :|
Of course, this is simply my opinion.
No precursors?
Are you really surprised?
For the broader playerbase, I guess not.
But it’s a decent sample size though… you just never know with the RNG in this game.
I know. Looking at my own game play time of over 6k hours with numerous events, champs, world bosses etc, without ever one dropping.
No precursors?
Are you really surprised?
Spent about 1 & 1/2 hours in silverwastes today & picked up three exotic items. Lot more lucrative than other area’s in the game.
This has happened to me once. Could not even see anything, gear or otherwise & other players could see me (asked them). Exiting to desktop & logging back in fixed the bug, which has not happened since.
