Haha. Happened to my server last Friday. We were running second (Bronze) against two silver sides and the third place side came on with massive numbers & capped everything we had on all maps then proceeded to overrun every attempt we made to recapture. Then again its not their issue if we do not have the players numbers in off peak EU hours to counter them.

Pretty sure you don’t need 5 trebs on the supply pick up point in the keep. This has been happening on reset nights for weeks, eating up supply, preventing people from upgrading the keep, and they’re not even in usable positions. I think it’s also hard to simply say “Oh, well, maybe it’s a new person to the game who doesn’t know better” because it’s 5 trebs targeted specifically to the supply depots.

Honestly, we need a solution here. I think the incidence is relatively low to begin with, but when it does happen and nothing seems to be done, it does nothing to discourage others from joining the activity. Would it be possible to add some kind of report feature for griefing?

(Sorry, forgot to add the picture showing the crazy trebs in the supply depot and edit wasn’t working right for me)

Think you would need to be outstandingly dumb as a new player to start building siege like that. Anyone doing this kind of stuff is only interested in causing as much grief as possible.

Yes, the lag is terrible again this morning. Tried playing world vs world; was killed by an invisible enemy while standing in a group of friendly players, could not respawn, could not go through door portals in towers, keeps etc. The lag is also present on other maps just not quite as bad.

For me the lag & skill lag has become worse over the last two weeks and first became a real issue when Tower of Nightmare’s living world content was introduced.

Yes. Don’t stand still for the 2 seconds it takes to animate the shot. Its not like you could have dodged, hid, blocked, reflected, etc. or even moved out of range in that time….

right because there is no way that in WvW you would be looking at anything besides the warrior at range. No way he wasn’t standing behind an npc or other PC or anything. You should always know every attack that’s coming your way and dodge anything thrown at you.

I’m sorry kill shot is to much damage, eviscerate and back stab also got to hard. What I don’t get is why when shatter on mesmers would near one shot people it had to be nerfed but other telegraphed one shot abilities are allowed to stay. Show some consistence.

Exactly! With the size of groups facing each other in a lot of battles, the maneuvering & often lag, it can be impossible to know who or what is hitting you.

I have been kicked for dying once and I wasn’t even doing anything dumb, I swear! Maybe I just have bad luck with groups… I don’t join groups that I don’t fit the req’s for maybe I just come across the meanies on a daily basis.. oh well!

Yes, people will kick players because they are not the class wanted even if they do not state which classes they want running dungeons or players are new & inexperienced or happen to die.

A high percentage of gold I have earned has come through playing world vs world & selling rare/exotic items on the tp.. Not nearly enough to be buying legendary weapons though.

Zerg lag. You see an enemy zerg a few yards away, they vanish & next minute you’re dead without raising a weapon.

We had a zerg of 40 sweeping EK and there was one enemy left on the bridge. Our whole zerg went to that bridge and our commander, who was a warrior, used a leap skill on the remaining enemy who jumped off the bridge at the same time that the leap skill was used. This caused our commander to leap off the ledge and die. 75% of the zerg also leaped off the bridge because the commander did it and they all also died since the fall damage was far greater than what a fall trait would reduce.

Obviously something going on as disconnections & lag across all area’s of the game is becoming worse including tonight. Even trying to access the forums was an issue. Anything else internet related is running fine.

I have leveled 4 char’s to 80; guardian, ranger, ele & necro and enjoyed playing the four characters in pve & wvw. On the other hand i’m struggling to level up my mesmer, thief, warrior & engineer. Not sure if this is due to the amount of time leveling can take or a general lack of interest in those professions

Map Completion - Metrics on Player Anger?

My biggest hindrance to map completion are area’s like orr where there are a ton of high level enemy that can dish out large amounts of damage & down you quicker than a thief in world vs world. Also because these map zones have very few players that may be able to help or want to help reach certain skill points/ poi’s & way points.
I just accept 100% map completion is not going to be obtainable for me. Then again does it matter unless you want the title or you need the gift of exploration for legendary crafting.

I get this from time to time; hit the W button and the char stands still for a few seconds like its been glued in place. Or you hit the W button and the char starts walking sideways, backward – any direction other than forward.

I’ve taken a break from GW2 for several months (since around August, last time I logged in for a bit was around Halloween). Just today I decided to log back into GW2 and see what’s new (I hear there were a ton of changes). For whatever reason it isn’t letting me log in, the error messege I get isL

“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications or connecting through a campus network.”

I’m at home using the same computer that I used to play GW2 back then, I haven’t changed anything in my firewalls and am using the same router. What’s going on here?

Think the server’s may have crashed. I had been playing this morning & things got progressively worse. Really bad lag in both world vs world and PvE before the game finally crashed and I cannot log back in either.

So you take away the ability for the attacking side to aoe the wall which of course provides a massive advantage to the defending side as they can sit on the wall doing lots of aoe damage as well as all the damage from ac’s, ballista’s etc. Then people come here complaining about how impossible it is for the attacking side. If any player should be able to aoe a wall it should be a ranger considering they carry a long bow.

Ranger bows are one of the worst weapons on walls (as attacker or defender). Axe usually works better than bow.

Find the long bow works well, especially with a good sigil. Yet to try axes against wall defenders.
Trebs are good defensive weapons if placed right. Good for destroying siege, poisoning ememy & stripping away their supplies plus anyone with mastery also has the water heal option which can be advantageous for there own players.

Yeah, look at achievements in the hero panel. Lots & lots of options to increase your points (including living world stuff).

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the responses! I absolutely agree that just seeing the world is a great incentive and can see myself pushing forward just for that (although the Orr areas look rather bleak and not as pretty as the starting areas; so far anyway).

As for the loot being better, I was under the impression that the loot you get from doing events scales with your level. That is, if I do the fire elemental (Asura starting zone) or the great wurm (Syrvari startin zone) I still get level 80 loot with a rare and the (very) occasional exotic. Am I wrong? Would killing random mobs at Orr give better loot than world bosses? Or would karma be higher there?

Also, the couple of times I ventured around Orr, well, it was kind of lonely there I really enjoy random interactions with other players (jumping in to help some one, having people help me) and that seemed to be a bit more rare in those zones. Perhaps I am wrong about this, haven’t explored enough really.

And, no, my goal is not to farm my way into legendaries as efficiently as possible or anything like that. I prefer running dungeons with friends (and making friends while running dungeons, the community has been great so far). That’s what I do when I have time. When I have less than an hour to play though, it seems more rewarding (in monetary gain and social interaction) to hit big events than keep pushing through gazzilions of Risen.

Lonely is right. Or maybe its a time zone thing. Trying to get map completion is next to impossible with the lack of players in orr – let alone good crafting material.

It’s a legit jumping puzzle… there are features that are pretty clearly specifically placed to help you get up there.

Had never taken any notice when my server had that keep. Hence why it pays to ask. Now I know.

More Counter Stealth Play

I thought the same about stealth as you until I played a thief in WvW for myself. Stealth is powerful but not that OP as you might think. Every time a thief wins an outmanned fight it’s because his opponents doesnt play together. Thieves can so easily outplayed but you must not play all for your own. It’s not that hard as you might think.

In a 1vs1 situation its just a matter of timing: Dodge/ Block initial combo, then count to 4.

Thieves a great in killing the clueless. But its extremely hard to kill the good ones. Interestingly even after one year most players I fight in WvW are clueless.

Thing is though a lot of thieves attack from behind & your down before you have had a chance to retaliate, this does not make a player clueless. You are never going to win all one on one situations no matter how good you might be or think you might be.

1 vs 1 kind of defeats the purpose of playing as a guild & pretty much world vs world. If you want 1 vs 1 go play pvp. Another side to 1 v 1 scenario is players stumbling upon the two players, not knowing and helping out their server/guild mate as you cannot distinguish between two people having a 1 on 1, vs one player being randomly attacked by someone roaming.

Zergs/blobs are reality. To counter the zergs/blobs you need to form one too. Sure there are smaller guild groups roaming around but they seem to be less common than the zerg or blob from my experience. Whether we like it or not its part of the game.

Think most players would have been on both ends of this situation and to my thinking its way too easy for a large group to knock down doors without any siege. Yes this will also help servers with small populations or are just out numbered at certain times of day/night.
You reclaim a keep with a small band of players; before you know it the enemy arrives again & knocks on the door – a minute or two later the keep is overrun again, this being achieved without any siege. Siege weapons are in the game for a reason, use them.

More Counter Stealth Play

I think highly skilled thieves are almost impossible to counter. One took 5 of us out in approximately a minute in SM today. We all knew the thief was there but had no answer – one or two hits & you were down then the thief vanished before anyone could try & counter. Should their stealth skills be nerfed? I don’t know. Are they any worse than the op hammer wielding opponents or any other perceived op classes?

My map completion is only 73% – yet the been there, done that box says 73/75 (tier 3 of 4). What exactly do players need for this achievement? I assume 100% map completion has little to do with the achievement?

People will still zerg regardless of the rewards. People zerg because it feels “safer”.

People zerg because it’s effective. People zerg because it gets things done. People zerg for large scale fights.

This is true plus you need to zerg to counter the zerg.

Outnumbered Buff

Outnumbered Buff is pretty worthless. I would love to see instead, that when outnumbered, Mystic NPC’s spawn and put a barrier around the servers keep to prevent it from falling. It is beyond tedious to have keeps fall to servers with high overnight populations. One DE server loves to take the keeps and then camp people leaving the entrance area. How can that be considered fair or fun.

Yeah not fun. Can think of a certain DE server guilty of doing this. Camping in the spawn after taking the keep, building ac’s etc. 50 vs 10 or less. This type of game play will eventually kill the rounds or perhaps the game itself. People will avoid playing the said servers which has a negative effect even for the guilty server as there will be nothing to capture after a day or two. Same sort of scenario you see when one server completely dominates two lesser ranked servers due to superior numbers 24/7 without the negative game play.

Personally I cannot see what the issue is with the match up forum. As far as trash talking goes it is really lame. Yet to witness much trash talk during world vs world rounds between servers. Often more hostility between players on the same server from players telling everyone else how they should play the game, usually in a hostile manner.

In a perfect world all servers would have the same player numbers and compete against different servers each round. As we know this is not the perfect world.
Yes it becomes a chore playing the same servers week in – week out, more so if you can never win a round, or if one of the three is far superior to the others.
Then I think about other games played online; BF3 & BF4 as an example. generally the same people any given day and rounds can be completely lopsided although they do not last one week thank goodness lol . Only difference being auto-balance, so at least each side has roughly the same amount of players.

Whoever the player is must spend massive amounts of time online. Up until a month ago I was playing perhaps 2-3 hours a night during the week and up to 6 hours per day on Saturday & Sunday (over a 8 month period) with my level hitting 393. The highest rank player ever encountered by me on an opposing server was a silver knight with most players being bronze level or below.

Forgot the ranking system changed too. In the past you changed rank every 10 levels except when you were veteran, legend or champion (30 levels for each). Now you change rank every 30 levels once you hit veteran and beyond. The platinum player obviously ranked up fast before the changes were implemented.

How long has world vs world been running?

Think quite a few guilds have their own web pages outside of these forums although this does not help if you do not know what the guild names are. Choose a server, play world vs world and someone might invite you to their guild.
