Ore node glitch

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: johnnymiller.5968

johnnymiller.5968

Ore nodes are appearing on my mini map, yet are not visible on the ground.
Candy corn nodes are randomly appearing on maps, mainly in Orr. They show up visibly very briefly (a few seconds) before vanishing again & cannot be harvested.
Do not know if this is some sort of graphical problem on my end or if other people are experiencing this too.

The moment Anet start charging a subscription is the moment I uninstall this game. I will never pay a fee to continue playing something I have already purchased up-front, ever.

Never play eso then. You pay upfront as well as monthly subscription for a poor game.

I’d prefer the removal of WvW from map completion entirely. I imagine it’s a nightmare for people that only play PvE.

Agree with this. Have completion for one character & still play world vs world on a part time basis.
Also understand the idea is to get people into world vs world, yet players with no interest in this format of the game are kittened.
Generally the easiest opportunity is when your server is lucky enough to be on the dominating end of lopsided world vs world rounds.

How do you guys feel about players who wvw exclusively though? Are we not allowed to like shinies? We have to go PvE if we want any shiny weapon, and yet we don’t make forum posts complaining (largely because we realize we’re the minority)about being locked out of dungeon skins, or luminescent skins (specifically referencing things available in Spvp, because Spvp still does not equal wvw).
Yet you’re complaining about 4 maps:
76 Points of Interest
13 Skill points
40 vistas.
25 Waypoints (All given btw)
and yet…
There are
301 hearts (Not included in wvw)
646 Points of interest (722 total- 76 listed above)
189 skill points (202 total- 13 listed above)
226 vista’s (266 total -40 listed above)
482 Waypoints (507 total – 25 listed above)

Total all that up (using totals)= Hearts + POI’s+ SP+ V’s+ WP’s =1998 things need for map completion.
Things need for wvw map completion = Hearts (0) + POI’s (76) + SP (13) +V’s (40) +WP (Functionally 0, but i’ll give you the benefit of the doubt 25)=154

154/1998= roughly 8%
You guys (PvE’ers exclusively) have to play 8% of the game you don’t like to get your legendary (or your achievement, what ever the motivator is). We (WvW’ers exclusively) have to play 92% (more than 11 times as much) of the game that we don’t want to for our legendaries (I don’t know a single WvW’er who actually has the nerf to say “I just wanted the achievement” so…)
And guess what: we do it, we might cuss and moan to our guild mates, but we do it. So, like I said earlier:

SideNote:
If you want legendary but don’t want wvw: Buy the kitten.
If you don’t want legendary but want map completion: Deal with the kitten
If you want map completion but refuse to deal with the kitten: Live without the Kitten.

Cheers!

Think you make a very good point.

Raven – chocolate bomb

Better Crafting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

not too many, in fact, there are more unbound items than bound one. Bound crafting materials usually for high end tier craft only (legendary, ascended, or unique exotic), as for low level bound equip, most of them drop from personal story or quest rewards. For crafting, that is the way this game limit the speed to complete your crafting progress (HELLO PEOPLE OF LION’S ARCH; I JUST COMPLETE MY MEGA EPIC LEGENDARY AFTER GRUESOME 15 MINUTES HARD WORK). Most basic crafting materials are not bound, i can’t event name one basic material that is bound (please don’t name craft material that required for ascended/legendary or end game equip).

edit:
after a bit of pondering, i think i have found the issue with your problem. I believe what OP regards as bound items, are what he bought off NPC (with karma or gold). Those items are bound/un-salvage-able, to limit the availability of materials from NPC, so the market run with LESS dependency of NPC, not “without”, but “with less”. Of course there are also item from NPC that required in high tier crafting but account bound (like Obsidian Shard), you won’t need that for basic crafting, and items like that are the so called “time-gating” (or karma-gating in this case).

My only annoyance with bound items are when it comes to weapon drops. You’ll be running around Orr & receive a level 35 account bound weapon. Only option is to destroy the item if you do not have any low level alt. Either stop placing these low level items in level 80 zone or get rid of them.

Are you sure this ever happen? and in Orr at that? I never get 35 drop from such high level map (and high level character), probably with the exception of personal story rewards. This only happen when my 80 toon running around queensdale or slaying lv 5 mob (which drop ~lv 5 items and/or bags with lv 5 to lv 80 items inside).

Yes. Level 36 in fact, 55 & 60 items from Orr. See screenshot.

Just for good measure; today a level 3 account bound item dropped in Cursed Shore.

It goes on all the time and if the patterns are the same it could very well be the same person running all his toons through the same script. Sadly ANET does not have an option to select a player and report such behavior but by the time you witness the botting it is usually too late to take a screenshot.

Knew bots were present in this game from reading the forum over time. Remarkably it’s the first time i’ve come across any. This was a real problem in eso.

Similar to world bosses. I mean they’re difficult content for most people, on a daily timer so you can’t just farm them over and over, and here you are giving out greens and blues for them. I’d say the difficulty is as much as boss meta events probably more considering you can’t just hammer 1 while afk during a JP.

I’ve seen people claim that they park characters at the end of JPs just to claim rewards daily. Not sure that is more difficult than auto-attacking during a meta event.

Probably why the rewards are so poor.

Bots harvesting nodes

Encountered a player/bot twice on Sparkfly Fen map. Once on land & under water. Harvesting leeks & platinum ore. The nodes were in close proximity, near Forvar’s waypoint. Only the player name was visible. This happened two days ago.

Today there was another one, under water in the vicinity of the Castavall waypoint (bloodtide Coast). Once again, only the player name was visible. Player name was different to the one spotted two days ago.

Unfortunately I was not able to screenshot either as they disappeared instantly once spotted. Not that I could post the screens here.

Just wanted to let players know these players/bots are about. First time I have come across them in 25 months of game play.

The Grind

johnnymiller.5968

While I still like this game; at times it can feel like a grind, more so when trying to up gold levels as I don’t flip stuff on the tp or run dungeons every day.

Only worry about gold if there’s something you want. In which case, never grind for that goal.

So you want to work up 100g to get one of the new pact weapons. Ok, there’s ways to do that without grind.

1. Always do your daily stuffs. Use the laurel on heavy crafting bags and sell the mats for a gold.

2. Have a guild, run their guild missions. If you do puzzle+rush+bounty that’ll get you six commendations. Use those on gear boxes. Sell all dat.

3. Run a dungeon or two each day. Don’t join zerk only groups, though. They rarely communicate. Instead, make your own listing helping new players learn the path. With this, you’ll communicate with your party and joke around. Have fun with it. Just because you’ve run CoF p1 five hundred thousand time doesn’t mean it’s not still fun to bring a new group in and amaze them with how well you can get past those flaming boulders. The same situation of amazement can be achieved by melee soloing the troll in HotW.

4. Never ever ever do something just because it will get you a gold. NEVER. Don’t like Edge of the Mists? DON’T DO EDGE OF THE MISTS.

5. Go out and explore! You can gather mats while you do and that doesn’t take long for you to gain a few gold. Use jumping puzzles to have fun and grab achievement points.

I do not play this game just to build up my gold, although the gold grind is for a specific reason. Would not be into my third year of play if it had been all about the gold. Still do events, play world vs world, temple runs, world bosses, level alts.
Just think it has become more difficult to build up gold with some of the changes to loot tables etc.

Well I bought a set of 5 gaining 3

afterwards I bough 2 singles and gained 1…

I think this would be a rediculous extreme if this would only be in the RNG…
A friend tried it with 25 dyes and got 11… which is stil above the 1-2 per 25 which was normal with older dye sets… he was at 563%.

Sounds like RNG to me. A good example would be the Halloween mini. People opened 250 bags & got one. Other people opened 30k bags or more without success.

Out of my 6 level 80 toons, Ranger was the fastest to 80, this included Orr before the megaserver, when there were very few players around due to my time zone.. Used Longbow, short bow, greatsword, axe & torch. You do learn to dodge & avoid damage as much as possible, especially when faced with groups of enemy as you cannot always rely on other people being around when doing events, more so in the lower & mid level area’s.
Certain pets take the enemy attention away from you. Devours & wolf for example.
Under water combat is easy as you have the aid of pets.
My only toon with 100% map completion is a ranger. Used my ranger in world vs world for a long time. Long enough to get me through to silver level before swapping to engineer. Like any part of this game you learn soon enough what you’re capable of.

Providing you’re serious…..you’ll learn combat techniques for these area’s soon enough.
For example. If you’re a ranger, certain pets will draw the enemy’s attention rather than you. Mesmer clone’s divert the enemy. Engineer flame thrower is great, so are grenades. Both Warrior & Guardian should be able to hold their own against level 80 enemy with a variety of weapons & skills. Same with a thief once you get to know which skills, weapons work effectively.

Map Completion - how to

in Players Helping Players

Outside of world vs world part which can take a while, the rest of map completion is relatively easy. Did most of it on my own, especially the Orr maps as it was before the megaservers were introduced. From recollection, most high level enemy were hanging around skill points in area’s of Orr. Most of them roam, meaning if you watch their patterns, they can be avoided.

Should also mention a small amount of skill points are based in Orr temples, so you might need to wait until the temples are cleared to get them safely.

Yeah the rates do seem very low, I feel like I get way more rares and tier 6 materials just solo farming trash in the open world, but I do run 300% magic find. I was expecting at least 1 ascended weapon/armor chest. I remember getting at least a few of those in the early days of the Frostgorge Sound train, and I don’t believe I ever farmed 800+ bags back then.

I also feel like you have a much better chance at getting cores/lodestones out of dungeon chests than champion bags. But then again, I forgot they nerfed dungeons to limit you to 1 chest per day, so I’m surprised cores haven’t taken a pretty big jump in value. There’s probably a lot more loot/gold to be earned from parties just “zone clearing” through all the trash of level 80 zones.

I think unless you’re specifically after scrolls of knowledge, there’s not much reason to kill champions anymore. Even with the exclusive collectible exotics that drop, you’re better off just farming more gold/hour on trash mobs and buying what you need from the TP, letting a lucky player’s RNG benefit you from the random champ bags that people happen to accrue while just playing the game normally.

I may open my next 800 champ bags on a medium/heavy class to further test the possibility of profession specific drops. I may also farm 800 heavy moldy bags to see if I end up with better tier 6 material rates (wiki research seems to indicate so). And that would demonstrate that champ bags don’t serve their purpose of providing champion grade loot, compared to containers that drop from regular risen mobs.

I have been skeptical for along time now about the roll magic find plays in this game. For example: running silverwastes for 4 hours with 522% magic find from base magic find, the birthday magic find, pumpkin oil etc. 2 rare items in that space of time.
As for the champ bags & chests, yeah they are poor as far as loot goes. Unless you need tons of dust.
Also found the chance of getting T6 mats are better from the moldy bags. Then again you need to obtain a fair amount.

Cithryth — I agree with you, there’s so much “under the surface” that we can do to customize our characters and our experiences. I love the dye system, and some of the names just make me smile. The skinning is wonderful! Back in the day, I was known to keep a bow or piece of armor in GW, even if it was inferior to other items, simply because I loved the look. Now, best of both worlds.

Vikkela is right, there are even more options through the makeover kits. I forget that fact myself, at times: that amongst all the face choices, there are even more in the kits. (No, this is not a “brief commercial message” for the Black Lion Trading Company, just a note that, again, the choices are so plentiful!

I’m not sure if it’s an event chain, per se, but to my knowledge the only other possible related event that might have a champion is the modniir chief in the caves to the west. Other than that the number of champions in Gendarran is too low for people to bother farming it, since it took an arrow to the champions at the same time Queensdale did.

Might go check it out. Could be another broken event. Know one other event very close to Nebo is broken.

After a while, anything below BiS will become devalued. It has affected even exotics, and we definitely do not get them in buckets. As i have said, first we need to start getting decent loot in normal gameplay. Then we may start talking about nerfing farms. Not before.

To be fair the one time I saw this happen was the day of the April feature patch and I think there were probably 15~20 people in Nebo; hardly ever see those numbers in Ascalon since there’s usually only two champions at most, one of which is the war beast you can intercept up in the centaur camp to the north and I think the other doesn’t spawn if the war beast is dead (or somesuch), so it’s not the most rewarding of events.

Biggest annoyance is the amount of gold you can lose trying to get one, not to mention how long it can take to build gold stocks back up to try again.
It’s only over the last 4 months that I have seen other players pick up precursors from mobs. All except one were from the coil event.
My understanding is they can drop from any level mob or event that drop exotic items. Do not think it should change as the odds are of getting one are extremely low and no doubt there will be many players who have never had one drop or will never have one drop.
