So you use a guide that takes two hours to do something that was meant to be done in a couple of days…then you complain it takes too hours. Figuring out and finding stuff is part of what this is about. For those who, like you, don’t like hanging around an island and looking for stuff..which in this case was the whole point of the exercise, you’d probably hate this. But there are people who are exactly missing this type of quest from Guild Wars 2, and for those people this is gold.

So you complain about content taking no time, but you use a guide that guarantees it takes no time.

Dulfy is a valuable resource in some instances, but it ruins this game in other ways, particularly if everyone just runs right there and uses it without even attempting the content the way it was meant to be attempted.

A: You have zero clue how long it was supposed to take, unless you’re a dev. Are you a dev? Should we also have wandered around aimlessly in the Canach instance ramming our head into a wall so it would have taken longer?

B: Even if Dulfy did not make a guide, someone would finish this stuff and tell their guildies where everything was, then they would tell people…and so on and so on. If you don’t want to use the guide so you can be “pure”, go for it. From what I read on one of your posts, you exploited the Crab Toss event to get lots of people the achieve, so I don’t even know what you are going on about here except wanting to tell someone they are wrong.

C: Again, you have no clue what the point of the exercise was, unless you’re a dev. Are you a dev? I’d say the exercise was to test out magic find, and who wants it over gold find. That’s essentially all the island is really about.

D: People use guides because playing a frakkin easter egg hunt is about as compelling as watching paint dry. If people wanted to roam around aimlessly in a game I’m sure a company would have made Lost at Sea part 15 by now, oddly they have not.

Oh gods…First it’s “Play slow, take your time”, then it’s “Hurry up and come back and finish this content”. And the LS hasn’t changed a thing in the world. And people have been singing this same song for nine months “Give it time, you’ll see, it will get better”. I was even one of those people. And these updates are not “free”. They came with the purchase price, and paid for by either players playing or buying stuff in the gem store. You purchased the game and all updates, nothing here is being given to anyone.

Seriously, do you people all work for EA? Stop with the propaganda already.

I would argue that the 60 dollar price tag was for all content at the time of release. because most games need revenue beyond box sales they are monthly subs etc. They first had to generate enough revenue to pay back the cost of the game entirely, then pay a salary to all those people every month. I doubt $60 covers that alone, and even if it did I doubt they covered anything past the first few months of the game. But I think gem store sales are what is supporting new content, to say that $60 covered ALL expenses of making the game AND ALL future content just sounds silly. Play the core story slow, do the living story when it comes, be happy with the game or move on. Suppose thats the only real advice here.

You can think however you want. It wasn’t my decision that they chose to go the route of buy to play, that includes anything they decide to put into the game at a later date barring expansions. After that, it’s their prerogative to make me want to buy stuff from the gemstore.

Free to play is close to the same, except the only way they make cash is through their cash shops. It’s their business model, not mine.

They also designed the leveling process, if they wanted you to “play it slow” well they should have thought of that. I’m not giving the game a free pass just because I enjoy it. I enjoy ice cream too, but if it comes with rocks in it, you can be sure somebody somewhere is going to hear about it, regardless if George the ice cream making dude is having an off day. It’s the devs job to look at the way the meta is evolving over time and adjust stuff, and from what I see, it’s more that the players have to adjust instead of the game. The leveling areas are the core of this game, and the game should have mechanics and rewards tied more to getting people involved in them. All we have currently are meta chests, which players just wp zerg. And they did that on purpose.

I have to disagree with you here Killcannon (you can absolutely zerg grenth and people do). You should check out the guild puzzles, they have some very cool mechanics before you get into the idea of “no trinity = no possible interesting mechanics”.

Then I would be interested in what your ideas of a Raid encounter would be.

It does lack narrative punch. And Zhaitan has close to zero personality, I feel like I’m railing against a door beam more than a significant evil.

There’s a question – how do you give an elder dragon personality when even in GW1 it was stated that elder dragons are so powerful that they don’t care about speaking with humans and can wipe full races in a flick of a tail if they feel like it?

Now to the OP:
About the other dragons – they will come with expansions. Don’t try to complete a full MMO in a year

You give it personality by it’s subordinates. It’s very possible to have a huge, faceless, overwhelming evil and still have antagonists that have personality and charm, by introducing a face to that evil. Something they tried and didn’t follow through with. Mostly it’s because the personal story is such a rush job. If I had spent time with the proverbial sacrifice of my personal story from the beginning of the game, maybe I would have muttered more than a “meh” at their passing.

I’ve seen good storytelling in games, and this ain’t it. WoW is far from the epitome of narrative, but Arthas stomps Zhaitan any day of the week. And Arthas was a subordinate.

Edit: And his story was told IN FREAKING GAME. Learn a lesson Anet.

And the living story…oh gods. When you have to explain who or what the main antagonist of the chapter is on the forums or what their motivations are or where they came from (seriously…where the frak did Canach come from, wtf are his motivations, where the frak is the backstory IN GAME?) it’s pure fail. The challenge is relative to what is in game. Temple events are harder/more challenging than other events which give the exact same reward. They are usually opened to spawn elementals to farm lodestones from, not because there is a chest attached to the event. If these farm spots didn’t spawn at all?, don’t know if they would be done even as much as they are now.

If people are asking for harder content, then they would be doing the Temples. If people are asking for more rewards…well then you see where this is going. People don’t want harder content, they just want better rewards tied to doing challenging content.

Again, point is moot. Can’t be done in this game with current mechanics.

Temple events may be “Harder content” but that is only true in cases were a “Zerg” group is not present. This content can be done rather easily depending on the size of the event participants. And for that most part (atleast) on my server the Temples are zerged. However regardless of this Temple events are not meant to fulfill the “Role” of “Instanced Raid/Elite” content as Temple event’s are simply boss fights with little or no mechanics and almost no adds. Which on a “Good” day can be completed in less than ten minutes.

This content is by no means on scale in terms of difficulty with what we see in other games primarily Guildwars 1. Now too your point about why the mechanic’s won’t work. What exactly are you specifically talking about? Also if these are known problems why can’t Arenanet simply fix them in order to introduce this content? Lastly you mentioned that “People don’t want harder content, they just want better rewards tied to doing challenging content.” but I see no problem with this, what is wrong with that? (If you are indeed saying something is wrong with it)

Not saying there is anything wrong with it. I firmly believe that rewards should equal effort involved. I have never played Guild Wars vanilla, so can not speak to any of it’s content past the point of understanding some of it’s mechanics and the genre of the game. You can’t zerg Grenth.

The mechanics I am talking about are squishy aggro rules, non defined roles, and damage mitigation. Play out the raid encounters you think about adding in your mind or on paper and then add the game mechanics present in GW2. Post the idea of your raid encounter here and let’s look at it critically.

If GW2 changed all the things that make typical raid encounters impossible to instead make them possible, then it’s no longer GW2, it’s another game. I posit that game has already been made, and another one or ten is coming out. Wildstar looks promising. It seems to include some of the best ideas from this game, as well as some of the best ideas of other mmorpg’s.

GW2 is what it is. It may change in the future depending on player preference. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Two problems with implementing raids in GW2. First, no trinity means raids will be trivial (just as all the world bosses are now). Second, the necessary gear progression would break all other content. Raid gear in WvW would be completely imbalanced, and would utterly trivialize all other PvE content (even more than it currently is).

I would say that with the number of mmorpg’s out nowadays there are many different variations of raids, and gear progression is not really a necessary component of raids (though it does get people hooked on them, as WoW has strongly shown.)

In some games raids are a simple matter of gathering a large amount of players to tackle a very difficult boss, dungeon, or series of encounters, and the gear you get from it doesn’t really give you a huge boost in power, but it does look cool.
(rambling)

I don’t think a GW2 “raid” would need the trinity to be successful either, rather than focus on that, they could focus on the cooperation of the people in open world.

Say if they ever had, oh, I’ll just call them advanced dynamic events, they could have a feature where a boss would switch to different phases, and in one phase melee dmg would heal him, requiring everyone to switch to a ranged weapon, or not attack at all if they don’t currently have access to one. Well, I’m sure it would be a lot more complicated than that, that’s just something I made up.

(there should probably be no scaling for these special events either, the difficulty would already be set, and remain set)

And none of what I typed above is even needed, as they will probably be introducing new dynamic events sometime in the future, that are a bit more fun, I just wanted to show that there is more to raiding than gear progression.

Those are called Temple events, which very often go undone.

“I’m right”
“No, I’m right”
Blah, blah, blah

They couldn’t implement the kind of raiding people want anyway, without solidifying agro mechanics and establishing a trinity. The mechanics just aren’t in place for it, unless they use gimmicks.

Out of Combat health regen bug

killcannon.2576

I’ve had that quite often. I’m pretty sure the regen didn’t even start after the skills CDs had reset, but I’m not 100% sure about that.

Using heal triggers the regen though … but that obviously doesn’t work if it is on CD still.

That means it can be quite annoying when you travel between different fights, your heal is on CD and you get no regen even though you’re out of fight. Or you use the heal to enter the fight with high HP but with no heal left.

As it occurs quite randomly I haven’t noticed a pattern yet and the situation described happens 1 out of 10 times …

I’ll try to recreate it, but I have no clue what caused it. I haven’t changed my skill bar or anything. Oh well, a project to kill time with I suppose.

It can be worth it, especially for your first full exo set. Depending on what stat combo you may want, you may have to visit various different Karma vendors.

Full lists can be found in various places on the web, here is a link to the wiki with a list of the various exo karma armors: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_armor_sets

As to ease of access, it will depend on your server, or if you don’t mind guesting. You can normally find open Temples here, where the exo Karma sets can be purchased: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events

The karma vendors are spread out to the various Temples, so some walking/running may be required. Good Luck.

There should be more Asura and Sylvari themed areas as well.

But we currently have this, with a decent infrastructure already built up, and now a majority of the population know about it. There is no reason not to build upon this and have another level 80 area, with perhaps a more varied ecosystem, themed beach events, monthly recurring events, and some unique rewards for the area.

The choice is either to be bitter about something that is already in game, or offer discussion and input to help make it worthwhile. I choose the latter.

I’m not bitter just disappointed. This could have been done better, and in fact I still believe it can be done better. But those things which I personally think could improve it the most (making it fit in the story line rather than defy it) are also those things which I believe ANet is least likely to do.

Regardless of what they (anet) do or do not think, I and many other players would like to hear your suggestions. It’s what the forums are for after all. Geo opened up the discussion, it’s up to the posters here to help flesh out, introduce and refine ideas, and give constructive criticism where needed.

I personally would like to see the island blown off the face of Tyria and replaced with something that actually fits in the game world. I don’t think either of us will get what we want.

Why doesn’t an island fit into the world o.o It isn’t like NCsoft has never had islands, beaches, swimwear before. Of course Arenanet shouldn’t copy Aion or anything, but imo its not such a bad place that it warrants being removed. Add a nice island, open up cantha, everyone wins

According to the devs, in the games canon, it’s set after the events of Arah. That’s the biggest problem. Looking at the map there are dozens upon dozens of islands between LA and Orr, at least some of them have to be inhabited, are we really expected to believe that nothing of worth was happening on those islands that could contribute to the existing story? We are never going to know the story of these islands in the context of GW2s actual story because of this side-story.

It’s especially frustrating that these island areas could have been used to actually give the Asura and Sylvari a group of areas that allowed them to flow in to the storyline like every other race can. I can’t see Karkaland as anything more than wasted potential.

There should be more Asura and Sylvari themed areas as well.

I really think a change in scenery would be nice for farmers, and more chances at T5/T6 mats. Rather than running to 2-4 Wp’s in Orr farming, we could do 2 in Orr 2+in SS. Might make farming more fun for everyone and help the economy get more items. Not everyone loves farming in the dark 99% of the day ^^ Also, pretty sure this is the first time you have ever agreed with me on anything, printing this and putting it in a frame. :P

For 100000000000000 time, servers show amount of accounts not people playing, if they showed people playing it wouldn’t be more then maybe 2-3 Very High servers, and that for 6-7 days after patch.

Source? Because I seriously doubt this is the case. There have likely been at least a million accounts created since release, and there are only 51 servers. That means that even if there were only 200 players online, all servers would read “Full”.

Here you go, people keep asking this question. Someone should put it on the wiki or something.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

killcannon.2576

If there were dead servers they might do something, however if you look on the realm status for choosing a server, they are all at heavily impacted. We don’t even have medium servers, let alone light or dead ones.

Perhaps OP is playing out of sync with their server’s peak time, or simply lacks good social connections.

I think they just name all the server very high so it’ll stop people from evaculating the relatively low server. Which will just make the situation worse.

The population of the server is very subjective. But the thing you can’t denial is some very high population server have “much more” people. Maybe that’s why those people on lesser server are complaining. They want to be like other server too.

Honestly, do you really think any MMORPG doesn’t have the same exactly problem? Everyone wants to be on the busier server. Anet made it possible with guesting for that to occur. I’m not seeing the same problem you are.

It might be different if WoW, Rift, Aion, AoC, Lotro…every MMO I’ve ever played didn’t have this problem. But human nature is human nature. People are always going to move to the busiest servers.

I’d be happy we have guesting.

I’d be happy if the servers showed actual load and they instituted some things to increase population on low pop servers, and they remove guesting.

Maybe then there would be more of a reason to do events on your home server.

Guild Wars 2 not doing well, True or False?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

killcannon.2576

People are spread between this:

Fractals
Dungeons
WvW
World Bosses
Living Story maps.
Farming Spots

This shows an aged but stable population. You can track the growth and amount of online members on guilds if you want.

It does show an aged population, not sure how that syncs with certain groups who keep screaming “This game is new, give it time!!”. A stable population? Not so much.

From the examples listed we can see almost the entire population centered around endgame activities. What’s wrong with that? Well, GW2 was never set up to be an endgame type of MMO. It was set up and marketed as a Journey type MMO. Almost all of the content on offer in GW2 is Journey, with 90% of all worthwhile content found in the leveling areas. So you have a part of the playerbase hitting 80 and wondering where all the content is. Well, it’s in all the stuff you just passed by, especially if you decided to level by crafting, but there is no reason to go back because everything that you want to deck out your new 80 is in the limited endgame, be that exotics or cosmetics.

Why does this make a difference in GW2 since all other mmo’s seem to take this path? Because all the other mmo’s are focused on endgame and that’s where all their content is. A new player stepping into this world will be sorely pressed to find company to level up with in some of the beautifully designed content that is available. In other mmo’s there is reason to forgive this, because you know that waiting at the end is the best content. But here, it’s not. What you see is what you get, there’s nothing waiting at the end, just farming.

If People want to Farm give them Farms

in Suggestions

Posted by: killcannon.2576

killcannon.2576

What I find amusing is that everyone just goes along with the idea that there should even be a need to farm, instead of mechanics being implemented to naturally have players acquire what they need through normal game play.

People farm because Anet wants people to farm. Keeps people in game.

HUH! Are you serious? Just the opposite is true.

Because there are two definitions of farming going on here:

Farming as per Lyssa lamenters: Wiping mobs in one location with the highest return value for hours on end.

Farming as per Anet and I believe killcannon: Travelling from zone to zone, wiping mobs, doing events, and collecting nodes as you meander along. (And CoF p1, at least for now.)

Pretty much. Although there are some instances where you need to stay in one place, farming for lodestones from elementals for example. If they would put some more elementals scattered about it would help a bit.

9 viewers, that doesn’t even count. Does anybody even use xfire anymore?

Says 2200 players…. More than enough to draw reasonable inferences.

2200/3,000,000+ is enough to draw a conclusion?

Nielsen rating uses 25,000/120,000,000 households to come up with their numbers that the advertisers use to determine they will advertise on a particular show or not.

Exactly why shows get shut down, terrible ratings metrics.. 3m viewers watch a show on tv, 8 million watch it online, show gets shut down because the 3m looks small. Bad samples are bad. Commercials are just as bad, advertisers and companies are lazy, spamming the same Phoenix commercial every 4 minutes is not intelligent. Smart people administer surveys that makes sense, not smart people work and ABC closing down shows.

“Another criticism of the measuring system itself is that it fails the most important criterion of a sample: it is not random in the statistical sense of the word. A small fraction of the population is selected and only those that actually accept are used as the sample size. In many local areas of the 1990s, the difference between a rating that kept a show on the air and one that would cancel it was so small as to be statistically insignificant, and yet the show that just happened to get the higher rating would survive.13 And yet in 2009 of the 114,500,000 U.S. television households14 only 25,000 total American households (0.02183% of the total) participated in the Nielsen daily metered system 15 In addition, the Nielsen ratings encouraged a strong push for demographic measurements. This caused problems with multiple TV households or households where viewers would enter the simpler codes (usually their child’s) raising serious questions to the quality of the demographic data.13 The situation further deteriorated as the popularity of cable TV expanded the number of viewable networks to the point that the margin of error has increased due to the sampling sizes being too small.131617 Compounding matters is the fact that of the sample data that is collected, advertisers will not pay for time shifted (recorded for replay at a different time) programs,18 rendering the ‘raw’ numbers useless.”

Just because one system (that imo is failing) using a type doesn’t mean it will work here. The fact that hardly anyone even uses the gaming app that figures out users is enough bias to completely ignore its ratings altogether.

They got you to reference that Phoenix commercial. They just won.

Well if they are trying to advertise things that suck, they definitely got my attention :P However, Defiance commercial was right after, and I just love that song in the video by Imagine Dragons.. Wikitten would play while fighting Zhaitan.

I agree with you, from the Nielsen Ratings to advertising. If it can’t be compelling, they make it annoying. Anything to get their message to stick.

But I did hear somewhere that anet didn’t get any of the money from the gem store but that it all went to NCSoft. If this is true then your gambling wouldn’t even be supporting the devs!

Lol. NCSoft fully owns Anet. Of course NCSoft gets all the money, and all the Devs receive a paycheck plus whatever bonuses they get.

Seriously people.

Guild Wars 2 not doing well, True or False?

I have played a couple of games that did ingame surveys. It did not make a noticeable difference in anger levels on forums and not much difference in my play habits. All that happened was people complained that the survey did not cover the ‘right’ things. They complained that they believed something but the survey allowed people who did not agree with this to vote which is obviously wrong. And the list goes on. They get more and better data by looking at what people actually do in game rather than what people say everyone does in game.

According to this logic then COF p1 is the best dungeon ever designed, they should remove all the other races besides humans because everyone likes them better, berserker is the best armor set and they shouldn’t do anything about the other sets, warriors and mesmers have zero bugs because they are used so often, and they should only have designed a game featuring world event chests cause that’s what the majority do, everyone loves ascended and never had a problem with it because the majority in game are trying to get it, agony should be in all parts of the game because fractals are popular, and on and on and on and on.

Metrics are only good for certain things and are prone to viewer bias. Actual feedback from players, paired with metrics is a much more reliable tool than either alone.

Really? What would you like to put forth to support your statement? There have been no statements from anet that say they are against normal farming (quite the opposite), there are mechanics in game that support the idea of farming, there is a complete stat for armor that supports farming. The only thing negative instituted in game is DR and from the statements directly from anet devs it’s in there to directly fight bots, not normal farmers.

Then why has EVERY farming spot been nerfed to little and even NO DROPS in all farmed areas(except CoF that is) and please don’t say because of botters that plain ludicrous. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Anti-farm_code and http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/ArenaNet:Developer_updates/20070420

I haven’t heard of a single farming spot being closed. I have seen and heard them fix bugs that people were using to farm unlimited spawns. There is nothing to support anyone saying they are getting zero drops. I’m sure they get plenty of drops, just not exactly what they want.

Thanks for your two links to Guild Wars 1, which have absolutely nothing to do with this game. Plus I looked at both of those a while back during another topic. If you follow the link sources to where the developers actually comment, they blatantly say they have nothing against farmers, and they want people to be able to farm.

Edit: Farming is not standing in one place with a macro, as far as I’m concerned that needs to be removed from the game.

No farming spots were closed only nerfed in the way of drops have been dialed way back or cut off, have you checked out the Pent/Shelter area in the past 2-3 weeks as compared to lets say 2 months ago? If so you can’t miss the FACT that known mobs that used to drop loot no longer do.
The two links are indeed from GW and if done there(albeit minamally there) it has very evidently been carried over to GW2 with a vengeance and I blame that part on NCsoft not ANET. There was a statement made by ANET that farming was to be discouraged.
I agree the standing in one place with actions using macros is just wrong, this I don’t do when farming, I am all over the world map in efforts to not be hit by the DR.

I have been, and occasionally still drop by pent/shelt. I seldom stay for longer than 30 minutes tops, usually on my way through to somewhere else. Not speaking for anyone else, I get the same stuff I always have. Bags, blues, greens, occasional rare, whites, and greys. For about a half hours farming I get about 20 or 30 bags, which is really all I’m after anyway.

The fact is, if farming actually ever gets nerfed, you will see it’s effects in game. Currently, T6 mat prices are still affordable, and have remained close to the same. That to me reflects that no real nerfs have hit farmers.

If the drop rates actually get nerfed, it will be more than farmers coming onto the forums to complain.

Been getting some odd behavior in Cursed Shore lately. I think some mobs are spawning for certain events, then not despawning when the event ends or fails. Ran into a vet Abomination surrounded by about 20 risen nobles today, and when I say surrounded I mean they looked like they were trying to get it’s autograph. Checked around for an event, one had failed earlier (about 5 to 10 minutes), found none active. Just another bug I hope they iron out…..sometime.

If you bought a box, you should be in the survey. There could be a thousand reasons why someone isn’t playing currently, from just not liking the game, rl issues, or random attack by rabid finger eating miniature hirsute bovines. And what if you don’t log in on the day of the survey? SOL. Just email the surveys, or have it on site somewhere and announce by email and in game.

I was dumbfounded when I found out it was a t3 set. Nothing interesting about it at all. The female version is a copy+past of the male. Nothing feminine about it. Can we please have something that looks worthy of our gold?

What would be feminine? A booby window?

+10 for booby windows. Perhaps a plexiglass trunk as well?

So if it isn’t because of bots, WHY haven’t they nerfed CoF path 1 yet?

Bet you didn’t even read every line of the two links I provided but only skimmed through IF THAT. As I have come to the conclusion from reading EVERY post/reply by you, you are nothing more than an NCsoft fanboy and trying to get you to see the real picture is a waste of time.

Those two links aren’t even from this game. perhaps you should have read them instead?

You must be new to MMO’s…if you are not you have no idea what you are talking about

No, I’m not new to MMO and because of that I exactly know what I’m talking about. No matter which MMORPG you play there are always people that just claim something but don’t bother providing proof. They always seem to think that just cause they play the game a certain way everybody else does so too.
Farming may have been and integral component of each WoW clone, but that doesn’t mean that the majority of players actually likes the concept of farming.

Ok, ok….lets see your numbers? Prove me wrong big guy. But just going by this thread and others that have popped up, I think it’s safe to say there are more than a few angry farmers

There are tons of angry farms. I’ve seen at least a dozen people posting that their farming is ruined. Many of those same people post in every single farming thread. I’ve seen just as many people saying that the game isn’t ruined and that farming is not what this game is about. So saying a dozen people are ticked off and posting all over the place is a far cry from most people.

The fact is, most people in this game probably just follow the meta events, and farm them. It’s clearly the way that Anet would want you to farm, being that they created an API which makes tracking events more accurate. And people do show up at these events.

Right now, there are people farming southsun. Why? Because there’s a 200% magic fine buff you can get for free that lasts 23 hours.

Anet doesn’t necessarily want people to farm Orr however. Orr is supposed to be a really tough end game zone and when people stay there running one route, it trivialized Orr completely.

New players get there and there’s just bedlam. You’re not a hero any more fighting through the hardest zone in the game. You’re a number trying to tag at target before it goes away so that you might get a drop from it.

If you think this is the way Anet wanted the game to go, I’m not sure what to say to you.

so like i said before, are you expecting the chest to give you stack of t6 instantly?
collecting t6 itself take months and if u prefer to do it slow way, dont ask me to follow you. now who said that farming isnt legit. if they dont want any farming to happen, why bother spawning monsters in non event area. most people will surely do what rewards them the most. its like you want us to less profit.

Why do you keep talking about most people, as if you know the mind of most people. Most people assume most people see things the way they do. Most people are wrong in that.

The overwhelming majority of players in an MMO is casual. This is true in most MMOs with the exception of some sandbox games like Eve.

Those who log in casually don’t farm because they have much less play time. Farming itself is a hard core activity if you call yourself a farmer.

Most casual players have no idea where to farm, where the profit is, or what you can get when you get that profit. They log in, they kill some stuff, they get a bit of world complete done and they’re happy. They see dynamic events that they’e never seen before, maybe do a jumping puzzle or a dungeon if they like that sort of thing.

Saying that most people do something in the absence of evidence to the contrary is just making stuff up. If you don’t believe what I’m saying, read some interviews with devs or look at some of the panels from game developer conferences and what that talk about.

You realize you contradicted yourself in this post like four or five times?

Anet doesn’t want people to farm. If they did, they’d give farmers more and better options. Farmers are not the target audience of this game. I can’t imagine why you think they are.

There are a couple of high ticket items that you’d need to farm to get and most players will never see them and many won’t care.

If there were more and better options it wouldn’t be farming. It would be just playing.

Edit: There is also zero proof that Anet does not want people to farm, anecdotal or otherwise. While there is great anecdotal proof that they do. Temporary areas of certain mobs, the amount of mats needed for items, low drop rates, and the big one…magic find.
