The only exclusive skyhammer stream
(edited by kirito.4138)
There are 3 sources of lag.
Hardware/Graphical -> Network connection latency -> Server load
All the extra Halloween stuff and people running around will tax all three types.
@ZaneStriker, you claim not to have any graphical fps lag, but it seems you have network lag. 300-430ms is rather high latency. With more stuff moving around such as WvW likely be jumpy or porting around.
@Freiheight, since you are not getting 60fps+ anymore, try disabling Vertical Sync.
Leaving that on while getting below 60fps will actually hurt your FPS more. With vsync enabled you only get 60, 30, 20, 15, 12, 10 FPS values. It will automatically round you down. So if you are suppose to get 50fps, it will drop you down to 30fps.
What CPU&GPU %usage are you getting? [Read this] on how to view it.

Please post your full system spec. Claiming “good computer” doesn’t mean much.
Also, read this one of the many Q/A might answer your problem.
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/FPS-GPU-CPU-Performance-issues-FAQ/first#post504481
In cases like this, the best way to troubleshoot is process of elimination. Removing/replacing one part of the computer until the problem is resolved or point of failure discovered.
You have a core i5, try using the integrated gpu and removing your gtx280 to see if the problem goes away.
Radeon 6570 is rather low end card. What is your CPU and GPU % usage? Using SSD?
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/FPS-GPU-CPU-Performance-issues-FAQ/first#post504481 Q5 shows you how to check. But read the other Q’s likely it will help you understand better.
P.S post your full system spec helps troubleshooting better.

Lion Arch is computationally pretty stressing area in gw2.
Read Q17 & Q18, it might help you. Reading the other Q’s could help you troubleshoot further.
1) Press (Ctrl-Shift-Esc) to open Task Manager.
2) Click the Performance tab. Click Resource Monitor
3) Network tab > TCP Connections, look for gw2.exe
should see it using port 6112 and 80. Look at latency column.
I’m having lag issues since the patch, not fps. My FPS never drops below 50 even in the biggest WvW battles while I’m lagging all over the place just following a couple of guildies.
Curious what is your ping times to the server?

To learn how to troubleshoot and pinpoint where the problem might be. Q17 might apply to you, but read them all to get a complete understanding.
search on http://forums.logitech.com, there are many other people with your disconnect issues.
Probably looking at a new desktop or laptop. For the vast majority of laptops the CPU/GPU is not upgrade-able.
Minimum requirements won’t work well in WvWvW.
Look at this thread to get a sense of what hardware to get for 20FPS WvWvW.
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/Post-your-FPS-System-spec-here/first#post558553
Thats the problem i already did QQ
EDIT: GPU usage @ 98% and CPU @ 20% Usage its realy weird cause before the update the game was working fine
There is your problem area, CPU usage only 20%. Before it works fine, now it doesn’t meaning something is preventing the CPU from working. Tried rebooting? What about power management settings? What OS are you running?
Read through this to understand and learn how to analyze/troubleshoot problem areas.

Oh..
I’m sorry didn’t mean to say ping, ment fps
Doesn’t mean to be rude about zbrdesbr, people do make mistakes in the world.@Angel
I did try that, still low fps
Read this to understand & analyze why you are getting low fps. Should answer it.
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/FPS-GPU-CPU-Performance-issues-FAQ/504481
if this game is so “demanding” why does it only use 50% of my CPU when i obviously want it to use more so it runs better and i dont have 9 fps in a battle in WvW……
Read this, should answer your questions.

Q4 through Q8 should answer the bulk of your question, but read all of it to get a complete understanding.
Nice, good info to add to the FAQ. WinXP < Win7 for Gw2 FPS maybe others will have similar results.
new graphic command lines? are they listed in http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments yet?
You have three options in your graphic settings.
(1) Windowed – (assume this is what you want)
(2) Windowed fullscreen aka borderless
(3) Fullscreen
(edited by kirito.4138)
you don’t have to buy a new computer, just a GPU. My cpu is similar to yours, actually yours is a tad better. Only difference is my GPU is better. Its very playable for me.
WinXP doesn’t manage multicore as efficiently as Win7, that might be a reason why.
GPU doesn’t seem to be underclocked, probably the CPU isn’t being used fully so GPU sits idle waiting.
Doubt it applies to you. I actually never seen a GPU with disabled engine, unless they are referring to disabled SLI setup. You can talk to Jorderon.6592 on that subject, that was his/her contribution to the FAQ.
I know ur trying to squeeze all you can out of ur current system, but you just need a better GPU or better yet a whole new system if you desire better gw2 performance.
Purpose of this thread isn’t to benchmark GW2 for different system configuration in controlled std conditions. Doing so is time consuming and complex with many variables to coordinate. Rather this gives people a rough sense of what to expect for their current hardware or might buy/upgrade of what actual people are using.
Keep it simple and clutter free. Don’t want this thread to sideline into a debate/discussion on methodology. Make another thread if need be.

I play fullscreen borderless windowed mode mostly. I don’t use Vsync, more like I can’t. Doesn’t work in windowed mode. But if i run normal fullscreen i will probably opt for adaptive vsync.
I just use frame limiter @ 60 in MSI Afterburner gloabl setting. Works fine for me, don’t see tearing or issues.
What is your system specs for both PC/MAC, i suspect are you using integrated GPU?
Where are you measuring FPS value at? Cities like Lion Arch, or out in PVE open field or WvWvW?
If you system is really “way” above minimum spec [read this] starting Q3 and beyond applies to you.
I have a 2nd desktop C2D E6400 with radeon 4650, barely above minimum requirement and it got 15-25fps @ 1680×1050 all low setting, PVE questing around outside of crowded cities & event. Playable? yes. Enjoyable? no.
@ Aureole, your stuttering issue was addressed in Q15, you might have missed it as the list of questions was split in two post due to post length limit.
@ muute, gw2 main thread should be using about 20-24%, not sure why you are getting 10-15. My best guess would be that core running the main thread for some reason had another large thread sharing it’s load. My Q6600 @ 3.2 uses 60% of my total cpu usage on high settings, but yours only use 40%. What operating system are you using?

I have flash video playing in background while playing GW2, my GPU clock speed isn’t underclocked.
If this work for some, awesome, doesn’t hurt to try. Seen this work around before, but I suspect the GPU underclocks when it’s not being worked hard enough due to a slow CPU not being able to keep up. Details in Q#4

Only partially list there. You still need a decent GPU too lol.

Short answer: your system is not powerful enough for 60+fps. GW2 is very demanding.

Short answer: Your videocard is too weak.
Read this to understand more why

I guess you didn’t fully grasp the concept after reading it.
GPU usage is low because it isn’t getting instructions from the CPU to work fast enough. CPU is too busy and slow. This is called a bottleneck (concept was explained in Question#4 of the FAQ)
Two options:
1) Upgrade faster CPU or overclock
2) ait for developer to optimize the game to utilize the CPU better.
(edited by kirito.4138)
Do you even know what the source or cause of your problem? If not, go back and read it again. You probably just skimmed it trying to find easy answer.
Why not just use google and read up on the tons of articles/forums/guides on building a desktop PC?
Here i will jump start you with a starter guide.
http://lifehacker.com/5828747/how-to-build-a-computer-from-scratch-the-complete-guide
50-60% CPU usage is normal for GW2 on a quad core. 1-2 of your core is likely running at max while the remaining core is mostly idle.
Anyways. Try putting a pencil under the laptop to give it a little space for air circulation. Heard its just about as effective as a fancy cooling pad. Its free, why not try before investing something more expensive =]

I believe you can just copy the C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2 folder over to avoid re-downloading and updating.
I haven’t tried with GW2, but with other games/mmo it works fine. Its only 15GB, doesn’t hurt to try, better than wasting internet bandwidth.
Is your hard drive fragmented assuming it is not a SSD.
Yes hotter CPU or GPU or motherboard chipset would lower performance as it will auto throttle down to avoid damage and operate slower. Heat from CPU could be transferred to the GPU and vice versa in a laptop. Your options are limited in helping it cool down. Run at lower fps or elevate the laptop so air can circulate under the base.
Likely both your CPU and GPU is running at max, so any heat throttling issue will just make fps worse.

GW2 does have performance problem and it could be better. Don’t think anyone knows when optimization will be done, not even the developers, but they are working it for sure. Whether they can do it or not is a different story.
A competitive player would naturally have decent hardware to start with. So I don’t think its all down to who has the best hardware. They are there for a purpose of being competitive in PvP.
so whe i assembled my actual PC, i thought about this problem, so I bought a i7 3930k.
My cpu is very strong and i never reach the full load, so my cpu frequency is the originally because it seems already quite powerful.
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/FPS-GPU-CPU-Performance-issues-FAQ
Read Question#7 & 8, your answer is there.
My theory is that with hyperthreading disabled, GW2 threads gets the full core’s resources instead of being shared by the virtual logical core.
GW2 is very CPU intensive and taxing on single thread performance and having to share the core’s load with another virtual core makes it get less work done.

Example chart. Yes, a new GPU running in a x4 will be slower than had it been x16, but its not that much. The new GPU will still be much faster than your current GPU, even while running @ x4.

TL;DR – your gpu is a low budget card. I bought one for $15 after rebate for my HTPC, works great, but not for games made with in the past few years.
