A grandmaster with a base 4 sec of burning is completely fine. But a master that does 2k per sec, combined with loss of control of their character is a tad OP
2k terror? How much condi damage you have? 4000?
Finally reach 80, gear up in full zerk, get d/d and d/p in hands and goes to WvW to find adventures.
Some duels i won, some lost (2 elems kills me almost instantly with all that 6k aoe damage, blocks and blinks)
And then i met warrior with rifle and bow, my damage – nothing, his damage drop me in second, i don’t even understand what happened. And start to think, should i even bother with my new thief, or forget about him like my dusty engineeer?
Conditions in pve are broken.
30/25///15 is the best dps dagger build(until the patch).
30/10///30 is a DS build.
Does first build require to stay in DS and push #1?
Never play Ranger underwater. You’ll start crying every time you play Thief underwater afterwards. A lot of classes have terrible underwater skills and options, but thief is up there near or on the top of the list of classes that really suffer for it.
I really don’t understand why Thief Guild can’t help me.. they can’t swim? They afraid of water like necro chicken elite? Cmon, warrior can even summon banners underwater (what is what, but i’ve never seen banners able to swim)
dagger/pistol, full stealth and blinds, and after some practice mob will never even hit you. Shortbow for 3+ mobs, godbless sb
You just have to understant – thief can’t just autoattack enemy to death, you’re actually have to play, use utilities, dodge.
I’m highly dissapointed. If with weapon skills i can block/evade every mob attack and this is pretty nice, but utility skills.. Only signets and poisons, only poison elite.
You want get skillpoint in stealth without killing guard-veteran? No.
You want swim thru bunch of annoying mobs with sink, cripple, chill, immbilize? No.
You want fast kill some mob with long cooldown utility or burst it? You don’t have one, spam your weapon attacks to death.
You want leave fight on low hp? You have only one stealth which isn’t enough.

I’m playing necro for quite long time (lesser than warrior, but still) but never played dagger-necro and have no idea how make it better.
For condition build (my fav) everything easy, scepter+dagger 10(30)/30/x/x/x
For axe not a problem too, just built around DS and 30/10/0/0/30
Minion build even easier to make – 3 needed traits will took 60 of points and 10 free for spent, depends of situation
But dagger.. should i build around DS like with axe? Do i need siphons? I just lost.

That makes sense… so for a power weapon main hand, would you say dagger or axe? I think dagger is more dps, but would the vulnerability stacks from the axe net more damage from the minion attacks?
pve – axe (vulnerability will increase minions damage and keep you on safe distance)
pvp – dagger (higher, faster damage and additional immobilize skill)

Well the trait system is way better in my opinion that the Skill Trees of SWTOR or the WoW system (at least back in the days of Vanilla and the first expansion, after that i stopped to play so i don’t know the current system). But your right, so much place for improvement. The stats point should not be link to which trait line you want to invest on. This advantage some build over others with for no reason at all. But up until now the trait system was not so bad for me (at least for the build that i choose to play). But when i started to play my Necromancer the system kitten ed me off enough so that i didn’t play my necro for several month. I always wanted to play necro but no build interested me. It was not because of the Necro itself it was just me and what i prefer to play. The only build that i wanted to play with was Life Siphon/Wells with Dagger in main hand. The problem is the Siphon, Wells and Dagger’s trait are ALL in the same trait line. Meaning that off all the trait that i wanted to get, i could only have 3 of them, while i would have to pick 4 trait that for me were way less attractive.
switch to condition necro. You will need only 30 points in Curse to got all you need and 40 points absolutely free to use (but for nothing).
Necro in light have ~20k hp without vitality traits.
I’ve got 3 divinity runes in 2 days with just 16 random rare runes.. It’s a miracle.
Because make bullets bounce is hell of a trick.
with the current season being absolutely broken (servers pulling 280,000 points while others in that team are pulling 80-120k points….), there is no need to make that gap even worse.
While i like you idea of making PvE add to the server’s over all, I cannot think of a good way to make it happen with the current encounters (except maybe based on Tequalt 2.0).
If you tagged the World Bosses to add 1% to a stat everytime its killed, that 1% becomes 100% in under 1 day. So that won’t work.
If you tagged an instance, say CoF, on completion of all paths server gets 1% added to each players damage, again that 1% would become 100% in a matter of hours.
Do you see the pattern?
with out a weekly encounter, or some timegated encounter, there is no logical way for what you want to happen with out it being completely unbalanced.
ofcourse there’s should be limits.. and bonuses not necessarily must be a stat increases, i doubt a-net can create tons of possible improves
We will use this build along the new Dec13. Patch coming up. Would it be possible to make a more tanks build for dungeons and wvw and be effective? Or would it just be a waste? Using armor such as knight or soldier stats. What weapons would it use? I love my dps necro so much but it want to make it more suitable for wvw and kinda take a more unique approach.
If a for on DPS build is better then please guide to the build perfect build. Once again implementing the patch that’s soon to release.
I can’t even imagine why you want be more tanky in dungeons.. guys in full berserker survive perfectly fine.
PVP – PVT
PVE – whatever you want, actually. Minion stats didn’t scale with yours, only minion traits are matter. Berserker for power, rabid for conditions, mix of rampager and berserker for hybrid.
With Vampiric Master you will always get insane regeneration from minions siphon, so you don’t need any defense.
How? Large servers will have a LOT more people doing those events, if all those events give bonuses to the server in WvW that would make it very imbalanced as the smaller servers will not have that. No.
Smaller servers fights with smaller servers on WvW, no? There’s ladder, no?
The Thief Downed state is decent in most situations but probably the worst in solo PvE, which is very annoying especially at lower level when Thieves don’t have a lot going for them and go down easily with adds and no one around to help you.
The mechanics behind stealth really need a total overhaul – currently it’s designed and balanced more as an offensive tool than a defensive one, when it really should be more defensive. That’s the main reason I will always be completely baffled by the way they made Stealth not drop aggro.
It’s pain to leveling thief solo, especially on events with lot of mobs or veterans with skills. You got downed – you died. Especially painful when i remember my warrior leveling year ago – you got downed, you use VENGEANCE, 100 blades and Bam, you’re alive.
When i was leveling necro.. i just never dies, so easy on leveling. (My main now, love this immortal thing)
Well. As Condition necro i have 40 points nowhere to put for PvE, since burning from dhuumfire can be easily overwrite and all other trees gives bonuses for power builds or increase defense, which i don’t need at all in pve (i didn’t die even in zerk builds with daggers)
That would make it even more unbalanced.
How? Every player should work for his server prosperity.

For Condition PVE rabid necro. Dhuumfire easily overwrite with other burns, so it’s useless in dungeons. 30 in curses and then.. and thats it, basically nothing to increase damage and i don’t need more defense in pve, and support for party as necro is nothing. So?
No thank you. As an avid WvW player I solely like to focus on WvW. I can’t stand PvE because there’s no challenge or satisfaction. Don’t get me wrong, dungeons and some meta events are great but that stuff please keep over in PvE. I have a lot of stuff to do in WvW, there’s never nothing you can’t do, but the thought of having to go to PvE and kill a boss for a buff or fear of a debuff sounds horrible. Servers with a larger population would get an instant advantage. I can’t tell you when I was in teamspeak with my guild when I asked what the red flame was on the wvw map and they said it was a PvE event I moaned. These things distract from the actual objective and don’t really belong in WvW. And guess what when I groaned with disgust, my guildies laughed saying that everyone of them had the same reaction. So though your idea would be great for bringing the server together as a whole, maybe it shouldn’t be. Right now nothing is broken between the separation of Pve and WvW so why change it. kindly pushes PvE away with a stick and draws a line in the sand
Cmon, pve players will kill those bosses anyway. But with bonuses that will be payback for WvW players who gave us bonuses in pve world.

But what kind of skills are you expecting whilst down? The objective is to rally rather by healing your health or killing an enemy.
This makes warrior bottom tier. Low damage and no class specific heals.
Guardians do well and i think thieves do as well.
Thief number 1 does decent dmg, and depending on the situation i’ve killed trash mobs with full hp. And the teleport allows you to further your distance from danger giving you more opportunities to either heal or kill.

All of them. Nothing should be soulbound. I had to keep 14 ascended rings for different classes and different builds (6 of them are berserker, thats so annoying)

When your world successful in WvW – all server both in pve and wvw got bonuses, but thats only one way thing.
My suggest is – make PVE affect WvW in same way. A-net don’t even have to do much.
Just add bonuses (or debuffs, but people don’t like debuffs) for killing world bosses and Temples. And Hardest event – highest bonus, like Balthazar Temple and Tequatl (And it is should fix problem with always contested Balthazar and made Tequatl more desire to kill)
WvW players will help PVE (like it works now) and PVE will help WvW. Perfect synergy.

Lucky me has finally managed to pick up a copy of Guild Wars. The first handful of hours have been great fun, and full of many low level character creating and guide/wiki reading.
What I am hoping to be able to do is create a true melee caster but not a guardian. To that end I am hoping there are players here who have done the same at some point.
So is it possible? I am open to using any casterish class, mostly for over at this point. The more melee viability the happier that makes me.

Actually – highest damage by all classes are melee. Dagger ele, sword mesmer, dagger necro

Since Spears already exist in game – i didn’t see a single reason, why it’s cannot be used on surface. Like, it’s not just weapon using underwater, spear is not just harpoon.
Skill is great as it is, but one thing could be nice.
Look at Guardian Torch skill ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Zealot%27s_Flame -> http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Zealot%27s_Fire ) – it is set guard on fire (which burn close enemies, but not guardian) and on second tap guard gather this flame and throw like fireball.
Our warhorn is give us cloack of flies, which cripple enemies and give us swiftness and life force, looks like good enough (as it is), but what if add second skill? To send flies to enemy, cripple and enemies around him, but rip out swiftness from you.
Full MM is kinda immortal (or at least hard to kill) in duel (or PVE) until all minions are dead, didn’t see a reason to complain.
Reason to complain is ret?rded minions reaction on target switching/attacking
For not MM – Consume Conditions is just best healing skill in game (for me, at least)

What do you expect anyway in tower filled of mobs? To kill them all alone? To run in empty space? Stick with zerg or party and feel perfectly fine. Or just dodge and run thru, it’s can be kitten only 3rd floor but there’s always someone else.

If they use this thorn as a plot device then dear lord….
