imo:
IT’ SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT HAVING SKINS BUT DOING ALL THE THINGS THAT IN RESULT WILL GIVE THEM TO YOU. This is what the game is lacking. GW1 as I heard (never played it) was packed with content to do to get new skins. Today we have farming/grinding and RNG. Nothing more.
Besides the skinsets we got with each expansion release and maybe 2-3 sets that came with content updates there weren’t that many new skinsets. Most of them were linked to horrendous rng (crystaline sword) grind.
You repeated you sentence and gave no explanation why you think that GW1 was only about getting skins.
Well I meant that for many people it was all about the skins, but it was the only part where you could “progress” besides titles.

It is really, really bad that you reach a point in the game and you are ‘stuck’, ie…no more progression other than dress up…
Apparently, the vast majority of GW2 players want it this way, frozen forever, so don’t expect any character progression soon…
Looks like I am “stuck” since I reached level 20 in GW1
I feels sorry for people like you who can only find a real enjoyment out of watching numbers grow.
I feel sorry for people who are happy to plod on week after week, never trying anything new…
What a sad miserable existence…
No reason to be offensive, dude.

So you’re saying that Colin lied about having planned on introducing Ascended gear since the beginning. I think that is a pretty bold allegation. Don’t take my word for it though. You can always look at his blog post that addresses Ascended gear.
Let’s also look at this logically. Assuming that Ascended gear was tied to the Fractals of the Mists, could ArenaNet have created all nine fractals in the span of two and a half months? Even two and a half months is being generous since the complaints about lack of progression didn’t come in until a bit later. That’s pretty much the time span from release of the game to the release of the Fractals and introduction of Ascended items. I think it highly unlikely. They would have been working on the Fractals months before launch.
No I am just repeating what Devs said.
but players were ready to start on that path much sooner than we expected and were becoming frustrated with a lack of personal progression.

Naw, doesn’t look there is.

Are you looking for gear progression? Are you looking for something similar to Guild Wars 1 where you collect skills? The former isn’t really going to happen if you don’t count ascended gear.
And any other gear between level 1 whites and level 80 exotics…
I don;t know why people claim that this game wasn’t suppose to have gear progression when it did have it from the start!
You’re quoting me out of context. I was referring to gear progression beyond level 80 or max level. Ascended gear was supposed to have made it in the game at release but they held it back until the Fractals was released. I wouldn’t really consider it to be progression. Once all slots can be fitted with ascended equipment you’ll hit a wall where gear progression stops.
They introduced ascended gear to add another level of gear because they saw that people were reaching the exotic level way too fast.

I don’t want to create another character just for the sake of having something new to do. DRESSING characters is what I DON’T WANT to do – it’s not a kittening barbie game.
I guess you bought the wrong game.
I’m pretty sure I knew exactly what game I was buying. But that was one year ago.
Now it’s getting disturbing. You bought the sequel to a game that was all about collecting skins.
Please stop. If you wanna troll then go to Kessex Hills and give experience to some hero after being slain.
So to summarize this thread, everything that is against your first post is a troll. Why do you even bother to post it here? Do you need some kind of validation about how YOU feel about the game?
Do you even want to discuss or just want to gather some people who agree with you?

if ur going to be a light armor i would choose a human, norns are to big for light armor and will looks like crap late game
That’s not true especially when you use the cultural armors. But this doesn’t matter since he wants to play Guardian.
I’d go with norn, they have a cool story and have really awesome cultural armors.

Each laurel equals 3 t6 mats.

This game had potential but now its become so grindy it’s like ‘work’ away from work and turning into all those other MMOs. Laurel grind, daily grind, achievement point grind, wexp grind, whats next??
I give GW2 one month to prove they are better than that, otherwise cya later and hello to GTA5
The game is grindy because it offers grind as something optional?
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
You are a slowpoke!

GW2 should have stuck with their original manifesto and never introduce ascended gear. Without ascended gear, there would be no need for laurels (in daily). Without laurels, dailys would have been totally optional.
Their original design was good. They’re just dealing with the fallout of their ascended gear hack.
I still don’t see the problem with ascended gear. We can easily beat all of the pve content with rare gear and yet we have 2 more levels above that even though we don’t need it right now.
The only concern I have that with we get too powerful for the content we have right now.
Speaking for me personally, the trouble with ascended gear isn’t in pve but wvw, where those extra stats might make a difference beyond skill. I don’t think it always does, but sometimes.
Yeah this could be and actually already is a problem.

Indeed, OP sums it up neatly. End-game for WoW has two main parts:
1/ repeat the same boring tank&spank content
2/ wait until a patch destroys your character
rinse repeatIt’s not fun. GW2 is fun mostly because the gear progression is so shallow.
You can say whatever you want but those boss fights in WoW were awesome, I played WotlK and had to luck to participate in some ICC raids (the last raid tier in the expansion if I recall correctly) and I had so much fun with it. They really brought the whole “red circles are bad” thing to a new level, a level I would love to see in GW2.

There is also something people should not forget. This is not an invitation for trying out hacks/exploints on another account. You will get tagged and as soon as you log into your normal account it will get banned aswell.
Just saying before people start crying again.

F&F dyes would be nice, 150+ Golden shekels for a dye is too rich for my blood, considering other dyes are able to get the same/close to same effect. I’d still like the dyes because i am a dye collector, though.

Then I guess its a good thing though since I’m having fun doing other things! I just get a little jealous when my friends buy their precursors and finish their legendaries in under two weeks of starting to work on them.
And they are looking back at 2 weeks of repetitive grind each they they draw their legendaries.

2. Really they want to farm, or do they feel forced to farm due to the bad economy in game.
Addendum on 2. You can’t use metrics to gauge why people do something. Just because people do A does not mean they like doing A or prefer more of A. This is why metrics should never be just used as the sole reasoning to add things. Something Anet has yet to show they understand.
Forced to farm.. oh lord those poor souls are being forced to farm! Lol this is just a game after all, if they farm they do it because they want to do it not because they are forced to do it.. And I don’t see what problems the economy suffers from.

“If you don’t like the game don’t play it” this is what gw2 defense force says to every single person who brings out a negative point about gw2, all of them without exception. If everyone who dislike current gw2’s content abandoned the game, you would be 1k players still playing the game with empty wvw, even emptier open world and even in LA you’d find no more than 10 people… But hey, at least you could get into TC server without a 3 months q.
Well this is the most sensible thing to do, right? If I start to hate something I will just stop doing it. Even animals follow this simple rule.

I truly don’t understand why they are doing this.
1- Why Ascended gear when there is no higher end game?
Because for the majority of the playerbase playing an RPG means watching your gearnumbers rise.
2- Why make gauntlet farmable? And not just for Achievement-wise?
The majority of the playerbase wants to farm.
3- Why have all dungeons give the same rewards except AC and Arah?
Arah is the hardest of all. I don’t understand the decision behind AC either, though.
4- Why make events spawn champions when they scale so high, making people do nothing all day except farm?
The eventupscaling was in the game before A.net decided to introduce champion lootbags, maybe they’ll adjust it.

I HATED my thief (first character I made) from like 27-75 due to squish; but now I’ve been playing him a while and LOVE the speed factor (stealing, shadow stepping, dodge-rolling, etc).
I am looking for suggestions for a comparably-mobile profession to try.
I DID try Ranger, but the fact they’re all apparently from Louisiana and do everything backwards like a crawfish is REALLY annoying (Hornet Sting jumps BACKWARDS?!?!). Monarch’s Leap and hornet sting shoulda been reversed.
Any other recommendations for an adrenaline junkie?

I’m mostly mad that thieves and guardians are the only two classes that can farm Dunwell with 4 or 5 gambits after the nerfs. I feel like I’m losing out on a ton of money since I dont have level 80s of either of those classes.
You are losing out on one of the most boring grinds I’ve ever seen.

Agreed. Guild Wars 2 has become the most repetitive, boring, and most of all, pointless video game I’ve ever had the misfortune of paying for.
So much promise with their manifesto now GONE.
And the worst part? All the leftover fanboys can’t admit that this game just sucks now.
:/
But I like game, am I now a fanboy that can’t admit that this game sucks?
What I don’t get is the point of these threads we had them since release. IF you want to achieve anything with these threads add some valid criticism, how to improve things you don’t like, etc. All you do now is creating a thread that may get removed/merged with all the other feedback threads.
And if you really want to make a point stop playing the game, stop spending money on it and keep it to yourself.

Get it through your head! We’re limited by Anet.
Well I really hope you guys get your own map/game mode. I guess you are having a lot of fun with it but I still have my, maybe narrow minded, stance on this subject.
New rule: All GvGs must begin with the ceremonial yakrifice.
That would be awesome.

THIS ISN’T GW1!!!!
How many times does this have to be said????
My point still stands.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Get in the ring and fight.
Why else would you put your guild’s name on the line in an even fight if you didn’t want to earn respect and notoriety?
Why does any professional team take the field in any game on earth? Is it to lose and be second best all the time?! Do people like being losers? NO!
And these people want to prove it. So unless you think you can beat them, i suggest you become a spectator.
You earn your respect through other means, like being outnumbered and yet continue to fight and maybe even win. Not (sorry that I repeat myself) by staged fights with a set number of players.
Then may I ask why this is relevant?
Just saiyan. The main point of that post was that kill trading thingy.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Are you serious with thinking GvGers should be banned for “trading kills”?
I never said that.
I said that in GW1 this would count as match manipulation resulting in a ban.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
A-are you serious? Do people who play GvG really think that?
You won’t earn respect with your weird staged fights.

I wish it was a cheap as Guild Wars to get max gear. Getting 1 gold in GW2 seems more time consuming as getting 1 plat from GW.
Not sure if you played GW1 at release but getting max gear (we are talking about best in slot) was impossible for someone who didn’t farm. I think up until Nightfall I never even bothered to pick up a sup. Rune of Health.
and to the person who said 8 hours, I actually did 10, which means I bought my new commander tag and finished my legendary, crafted a new mes/ele 10-80, with 70g left to boot. anything else?
So uhm.. play WvW now and get into this whole commander thing?
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
This is going to be an interessting week. I was kinda disappointed about the open field fights, though.

But it IS kill trading.
And like I said months ago in GW1 this would fall under the category of match manipulation leading to a temp. or even permanent ban.

It’s not going to be expensive per say but they did say that it will be time restricted to where you can only craft one mat or one item per day similar to how you transmute quartz crystals.
Not exactly sure what the point of that would be, honestly.
They want it to take months (or years, if you are not hardcore farmer that will be logging every day, all year, just for that). They think it will make you stay longer in this game.
Logging into the game each day has nothing to do with hardcore farming.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Ember farming is exactly what GW2 needed, it promotes getting a group together to do events. What Arenanet need to do now is tweak it so that it’s more beneficial to complete the event.
Co-ordinating an event chain is way better than waypointing from champ to champ, if you removed the incentives for doing events like ember then all you are left with are waypoint farming.
I’d much rather do event chains than farming a champ rotation.
You mean getting a group together because it allows you to tag enemies more easily? You can’t call that farm teamplay, people rarely exchange words.

Uh good to know.
