You’re claiming they hacked your account to play PvP? -_-u
The reason for hacking accounts is to farm them for gold. You didn’t lose any/all your gear/gold?
This is actually the best part
.
They probably hacked his acc to ruin his win-loss ratio or to try awful builds in ranked without ruining their own ratio! Must be it.

Nope.
Rift latest expansion was $24 at launch and is actually much much bigger then HoT. You can actually get it for free now if you’re unemployed, retired or just patient via in-game grind (gemstones equivalent mechanics). Also includes MULTIPLE new dungeons, new raids on top of the standard outdoor content. In fact, I would go as far as say HoT is about half the size without any new dungeons and only 1 raid but at 2-3 times the price. Pathetic.
Now, A-Nets budget might be dwindling dramatically, take for example 3 years of WvW neglect and the dwindling numbers of players there and the dead servers. I mean, LOL, do they expect people to pay them for that ?
Funny you would mention WvW. It looks like that game mode is getting some really interesting revamp. Although every game mode has a player base that seems to think that their mode has been neglected for 3 years in favour of the other modes. Which means either all of the modes were neglected or none were.

I think the expansion is not worth 90 bucks, maybe not even 50. You can always ask yourself how much you expect to play the game after the expansion hits.
You could also just wait a bit and get it for free.
The one in southsun cove, near the beach. Totally
Clone Death was by no means “too easy to play.” I don’t play a PU Mesmer so can’t speak directly to how easy it is. They are pretty annoying to play against though.
What I liked about clone death was; It dealt with the issue of our soap bubble clones that frequently don’t survive long enough to shatter.
Also, it continued the GW1 concept of a Mesmer being a class that punished certain actions. In this case, players were punished for mindlessly cleaving clones.
Unfortunately a dev lost to the build and it was completely removed.
I wish devs would lose to some of the other rubbish builds out there and those would be removed too.
Most condition builds don’t take a lot of skill because you can have your defensive stats on your amulet while still having high condition damage.
It’s quite simple. If you are a PU mesmer using rabid, carrion or settler amulet or some other abomination, you not only have stealth, clones, range (you will play with scepter, staff), you also have the additional defensive stat from the amulet.
Something similar goes for thieves that just dodge in stealth, laying caltrops.
You kill unprepared people with it, sure. You also have to consider (since some here wish for a condi meta) how it would look if we had one. Let’s say 1v1 between two PU condi mesmers, going through their rotations mentioned here and cleansing and running around and… nothing would happen. Similarly to the duels between celestial dd eles. Sounds fun eh?
Thieves are not unhappy about being a +1 class, they are unhappy about not being able to smack the living hell out of everyone but the tankiest builds. If they would look at the big picture objectively they would realize that they are not weak just that the playing field has been leveled out a bit.
Also garbage. Tired of people on the outside looking in trying to tell me how I feel.
I have no sustain.
Every other class got a dps boost.
Its painfully simple.
I dont care how long the kitten fight takes or whether or not I do a little or a lot of damage to a specific build. I need to be able to sustain long enough to make either leaving or winning an option.
Right now I can do neither.
EDIT: I want to tack on that I find the fact that every other dev is providing dps increases for the respective classes they oversee, but for the most part thieves are getting clunky ways to avoid that damage without any baseline sustain or baseline methods to deal with it.
The old feline grace should have been baseline. Fleet shadow should be baseline. Instead we got the former avenue crippled and the latter in a line that nobody wants to take because it’s borderline useless when considered practically.
I still need to look at DD. It’s so clunky atm though that I wont use it if it’s like that at release.
You have no sustain? That’s a lot of garbage and you know it. Try to build differently then, run another amulet, different rune, whatever. But don’t cry about lack of sustain on a class that has been known for being able to either evade virtually everything or disengage at will if pressured.
I haven’t seen the thief subforum abuzz asking for balance while you were OP as kitten.
The idea that there are roles and different classes can fulfill those roles to a certain extent is faulty.
There is always going to be one class that can do a certain thing most efficiently, reliably and that class WILL be desired for that role over others. Eventually this leads to the same point where we are now. Now the lfg is full of “1 guard, 1 warrior, 1 thief, 2 ele” posts for this reason. This composition can provide damage, required control and support to beat any 5-man instance.
Now sure, you can bring a mesmer to reflect, cleanse conditions similar to guardian, blind and stealth similar to thief, but you really only take one if you want portal because the dps sucks.
You could bring an engineer for blinding, stealth, projectile defense and condi cleanse/healing also nice dps… but you can’t fit the poor guy in the meta party as all the roles are already filled.
This won’t change in HoT, so eventually we’ll end up with certain class combinations for raids that work best and then no other class will be able to join raids. Since raids will have room for 10 people, it might actually happen that we won’t be running with 2 guards, 1 warrior and 7 eles. But i wouldn’t be surprised if we did eventually.
But i thought blasting fields is good. Especially fire and water fields.
It’s actually pretty well done. If you ever take the time to check, it is a living exosuit. The vines are pulsing with some fluids, the headpiece has a blinking eye thingy. This is perfect to show off your corruption.
If your /deaths counter says anything but “0”, it is already not a legit permadeath char. You do not count lag spike deaths? That’s nice but then the whole thing does not mean much.
again, getting shoehorned into one and only one style of play is beyond obnoxious and unenjoyable. so hearing this patronizing “THIEF PLAYERS JUST WANT TO BE OP!!!” nonsense isnt helping anything, especially coming from someone who plays elementalist.
Sorry but are you saying you would want to play a bunker thief???
The float was nice but it was too much because they did not want to end up with too much AoE CC, it was changed to this… excuse of a skill. We’ll see if we can make it work for something but honestly, looking at some other professions, the whole reasoning seems dishonest. If Anet really did not want so much AoE CC in their game, then why would they not take a look at engineer, necromancer or elementalist for example.
+1 is still not a role. I’d like to see people’s reactions if the same happened to say… Warrior, or ele. Force them into +1 role, making them obsolete in everything else and unable to 1v1. The uproar would be pretty hilarious.
The sad thing is, no one seems to care that thief is currently in that place.
It is a role. It’s a role rangers are trying very hard to break into with their longbow in fact. But they can’t because they don’t compete with thieves in terms of mobility.
It’s an interesting observation of the human condition that thieves are unhappy with the role they have that rangers desperately want just to be able to be competitive at all.
Thieves are not unhappy about being a +1 class, they are unhappy about not being able to smack the living hell out of everyone but the tankiest builds. If they would look at the big picture objectively they would realize that they are not weak just that the playing field has been leveled out a bit.
Meh, much like I enjoy it when zones changed permanently, I like it when certain things are no longer obtainable. It adds actual history to the game. :o
That it does. These items serve as some kind of souvenir. It’s not about “showing off” or making others feel bad. Such items fit perfectly into the premise of a “living, breathing world” we were told we’d get.
The most annoying has to be the sound accompanying many thief skills but worst is Heartseeker.
I think there should be an NPC vendor somewhere in LA that sells every possible skin for ANYTHING that you choose to pay for them. That way people could comfortably unlock every skin on their account without having to think, research, do something… for it.
This would make collections so much easier and less of a hassle.
If you like all of those, get one from the gift and feel free to buy the others.
Where do you see all these condition builds after condition builds? Because hotjoin heroes don’t count.
If they did not kick you, you cannot report them for anything. As others have pointed out, Arenanet tolerates selling of paths but they sure do not endorse or in any way care about it. You were operating in a gray area so the “law” is not exactly on your side even if not paying was a scrubby move.
Designing Challenges vs. Designing Gimmicks
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Expect raids to be full of gimmicks. We’re going to do them anyway.
honestly last time celestial was a the issue (ele/engie/war) i was all for nerfing the professions using them instead of the amulet itself. at this point, i just want to see the amulet removed entirely. nothing good has ever come from it, it’s been by far the most corrosive thing in pvp for years now and has only lead to overpowered builds that completely dominate and shape the meta for all the worse. it should be abundantly clear by now that an amulet that has 30% more stats than all others will never be balanced when there’s builds that are capable utilizing every one of those stats. it’s just basic math.
THIS. It’s a badly designed amulet with very binary usage. Either it’s useless for your build, or insanely overpowered (D/D Ele)
while celestial d/d ele is undoubtedly the posterchild for overpowered cele builds, people shouldn’t forget celestial necro. celestial necro is in the same tier as mesmer right now, and just like mesmer, is in need of some surgical nerfs to bring it in line.
And i think thief needs some surgical nerfs to bring it in line. Especially to their ability to blind, disengage and a little bit of damage shaved off.
See? I can play the stupid classism game too.
Actually you can’t because if your losing 1v1 to a thief on anything it’s a l2p issue on your part.
Cele necro is indeed OP. If you think it is not please tell me which meta build counters it?
I did not talk about cele necro, that thing is a beast. I pointed out that his comment sounds like a thief who is kitten about not being able to one-shot mesmers.
It’s a beta weekend. I don’t expect anything as awesome as the legendary black moa hunt from BWE1 3 years ago, so you won’t miss out on much if you play a bit less.
This is a great idea.
Most classes play different builds different ways in pvp than in pve.
Let’s take an average PvPer for example. Let’s say their main is a guardian and they have enough tomes to level a char to 80. So they make a thief and use tomes to get to 80. They are really good at PvE thief at that point right?
I’m sure these vaunted raids will be the challenging, high-level PvE content where you are going to fail without actually knowing what you are doing. (Probably not but let’s hope so.) Gear requirement is not there to lock you out of content, it is there to make sure you’ve spent at least some time in that game mode.
PS: With the rate of ascended chest drops, any PvPer just might have enough to equip themselves in high level gear anyhow.
No ETA on fix means, that it could be fixed any time between now and never. If and when it is fixed depends on the alignment of stars and how much pasta Colin consumed yesterday.
Yes, awesome sale. Great items. Amazing opportunity.
Nice, you really showed that bridge who’s the boss.
But that will be the “challenge” in challenging group content. To spot what the boss is doing in the crazy particle effect extravaganza.
Having done this multiple times myself i can say, that that was several billion times easier in GW1. You had to micro-manage a protection monk (or play one yourself) but it worked quite nicely.
Well, you can all point out the few differences that still remain, but the point of the OP was that HoT seems like Arenanet admitting that they have no clue how to change the MMO formula so they rather just fall in line. And however much it may hurt your feelings or i don’t know what… OP is right.
Noooo spojski but guardians are sooo much better, everyone knows it! It’s better for pugs so it’s better period, right? /eyeroll
Expect more harsh nerfs before chrono comes out, tho. And after.
But guardians will be busy hunting dragons so they won’t have time for raids.

Sure, but i assume it’s going to be balanced similarly to other games where the DPS group can provide enough damage leaving the tank and healer parts free to do their job. So not everyone will have to use full dps gear.
Thus we will have trinity/duality. We’ll probably also have classes that won’t ever see the inside of a raid wing because of this.
The “puzzle” part was mentioned to alleviate the problem with people thinking it’s going to be another “full zerk dps down quickly” thing.
I wouldn’t put too much meaning into it.
With the game servers being as they are, do not attempt any kind of permadeath thing.
There will be most likely a title for the fractal collection and it will be worth nothing at all.
Why do you guys mention that we are not supposed to have tanks, no trinity, and that the OP should play other games? Have you not read the post about raids?
They would be running around wielding a scepter and staff 99% of the time. Some could be as rotten as to use signet of domination or sigil of corruption maybe.
Other than that… not really.
The fractals changes don’t look so good on paper and did they promise actual new fractals anywhere? Because cranking the level to 100 is not adding new content.
The day after the patch I made a thread saying how OP ele was. Funny it took the rest of you so long to realise this.
So that is why you made a thread about every profession being OP? So that when any one of those will actually turn out to be OP, you can say “i told you so”.
Well, good to see that Arenanet stopped pretending to be innovative about MMOs and openly admits to make just another run-of-the-mill game.
I’ll do raids of course, but too bad that they gave up on their vaunted pushing the limits attitude.
The marionette’s wreckage is still where the fight was. I doubt it would come back.
Even if you don’t consider the phantasm, the chronomancer’s shield 5 skill alone has higher damage output than the shield skills of any other profession. In general shields aren’t intended to be high DPS weapons. If the utility of the skills is lacking, that’s an area that can be tuned, but we don’t have any plans to really increase the damage that much.
That’s really nice from a game design point of view and since it’s common knowledge that mesmer in PvE is a damage beast, quite reassuring to know that devs consider the strengths and weaknesses of classes.
Considering the tonic is completely useless, i’m fine with not having gotten one yet (maybe someday). Other than that, i actually get a fairly nice amount of rares/exotics in fractals even if i take into account the time spent.
It may also be worth to note that maybe you get more champ bags if you dig in the silverwastes for 30-40 minutes, but doing fractals will still not lobotomize your brain like the digging does.
Nope, celestial stats are not really useful for anything in PvE. But now you have the option to change the stats of the item, so i would pick a light coat (which costs the most gold to actually craft, so you would get the most ouf of your drop) and then use the Mystic Forge recipe to change it to berserker.
Unless of course in the case that you are not playing any light class at all. Then pick the coat for the armour weight you actually play.
But lets talk money: WoW was ~$144 per year, plus box cost for games. There has not been a single year that I played GW2 that I spent less than that in the gem store. There is nothing free, sorry, “FREE”, about any of the content in GW2. The content some of the people here enjoy for free, sorry, “FREE”, is paid for by those of us that choose to support the game via the gem store at a rate that is greater than or equal too a normal subscription fee. If you didnt spend $144 in the gemstore this year, you are welcome: I paid for some of the content you enjoyed.
You know you could have just not spent a single cent in the gemstore and let Arenanet worry about their business (income, content creation, etc.). Playing the game and managing your finances is your thing, creating content and managing their business is theirs.
This is great news. Great addition to the game. I’m sure it will be all great. We are a great community after all. We should all try to make it even greater.
I think you misunderstood the whole thing. Nobody in their right mind would brag about this awful outfit. The point is that Arenanet provided this to people who bought their game as some kind of appreciation.
So if they would make it accessible to others, it wouldn’t really fulfill its purpose anymore.
Welcome back!
I’d start by sorting out my build. The trait system has changed so if it is very complicated at first, try metabattle.com for a few pointers.
Your gear should still be viable since for most content 2 years old gear will be fine. Open world events are a good way of getting used to playing your engineer again. I would recommend the Silverwastes mobs though, they require a bit more attention.
Beyond that, dungeons, wvw, pvp. And most importantly, after you have tried all those, do whatever feels like fun.
