Seems to me like most of the people who complained about the rewards not being enough have already explored the world once.
The beautiful thing is, you don’t have to explore it on other characters. You didn’t even have to explore it once. You don’t find it rewarding enough to spend time on it? Don’t do it. If you like exploring, you won’t do it for the material rewards anyway, but for the sake of exploring or to satisfy your completionist side.
It was available for 20 months – by playing pvp. It was not available in pve, similar to how the pve counterpart sets were unavailable in pvp.
I can’t recall it being available for karma either.

You know, all these ideas don’t matter much, simply because if they were implemented, three months from now someone would start a thread about how these rewards are not enough for the drag that is map completion and there should be more.
Slippery slope fallacy is slippery slope.
But that’s how it works. It was like that with dungeon rewards, champion loot, everything. The rewards at any given time seem to be not enough.
You’ve been asking for it since beta? But the set was available after launch, what happened?
Personally i believe arenanet will do as they wish, not caring what pvers or pvpers want.
In this case i would say keep it as it is.
Charr mesmers were very often seen in GW1, so lore wise they are perfectly fine. Rragar Maneater was one of the prominent charr mesmers, but there were plenty of dominators, chaots, mind lords running around in the charr homelands and ascalon.
Now they have shifted to this steampunk theme, yet it’s not that outrageous to see charr mesmers. (Charr armor looks terrible so check that before creating anything)

The more they drag out the fix, the more i tend to believe it was intentionally removed.
It’s one of the faces available upon char creation, maybe not the eye colour. Whoever did this pulled the mouth together, made the nose thinner and changed the eyes a little bit but it’s all there in the default character creator.
Of course the hair style is only usable by using a hair or makeover kit.

Here is my engineer Pamat N Gineer. And her drone to enhance her combat awareness.
If i ever manage to decide which mix and match looks best on my mesmer, i’ll post that too.
They could remove just these animations by accident and now they cannot find a way to re-enable them?
If anything, the game should be less pink unicorns and happy bunnies, and have a bit more things like this heart.
You cannot do everything, you always miss out on something while doing the other stuff. You cannot go to a world boss train while doing wvw, cannot do fractals while doing world bosses, cannot do pvp while in fractals.
You did not state word for word, but you brought that title as an example for the great reward you’ve gotten in gw1 then went on to say that gw2 lacked substance.
Really? There are problems related to programming to put back something that was in the game for over 2 years and worked fine?
In GW1 there was no reward for revealing all map areas (at least at the time I stopped playing, just as EotN was released). Yet people would insist on clearing the Fog of War from every nook and cranny.
Not quite, GW has always had map exploration titles (<3 my OS Tyrian Explorer [60%]), and also awarded the Cartographer title for uncovering all maps in a particular campaign…
But ofc GW2 had to be a kitten and tie special rewards to it, because reasons. I’m even worse than the OP, as I couldn’t be kitten d to uncover all maps even a single time, mostly because it’s mindboggingly boring, but also because I consider things such as vistas and PoI’s a cheap and extremely lacklustre method of filling void space, as they hold absolutely no intristic value in and off themselves…which is highly similar to the superficial feature that is achievement points.
All in all, the game is chronically deprived of actual substance, while drowning in layers upon layers of fluff.
So let me get this straight.
GW1 gave you a title if you explored the map and that was “<3” and “substance”.
GW2 gives you a title, a star and some random stuff you may use for crafting or just sell and it’s “fluff”.
Arenanet has to remove all armorsets and outfits that show even the tiniest amount of skin on human females and make new – fully covering – sets, because the playerbase cannot handle the obscene sexualization. Charr, sylvari and asura are fine, norn… are also ok, since they are resistant to cold and that explains everything.
There isn’t a high enough reward that would stop people from asking for more rewards. Ever.
The community cries out for more elaborate encounters, we get them, the community does not really do them because it’s not rewarding. But nobody can actually describe what “more rewarding” would be. More gold? TA aetherpath exclusive skins that drop more often? If they drop more often, they become less exclusive, their prices will plummet, suddenly the path won’t be rewarding anymore.
The beautiful thing about map completion is, you can choose to do it or not. You don’t feel forced to do it and like you pointed out, apart from legendaries there is no need for it.
Well, if Asmodeus is right and that was an intended change, then anet should tell us that it won’t come back so i can be kittened off properly.
Completely exploring the world map carries its own reward. On top of the actually valuable things you can get for each zone, since even low-level materials can fetch a nice price (linen scraps…).
At the end of the day, if you don’t feel like something is even remotely fun to do, then no reward in this world will make it feel like it’s not a chore. Then people will come to the forum and open threads about how grindy the game is.
I don’t really see why animations that are obviously already in the game take this long to reactivate but i’d like to see arenanet not use their usual “iterations, iterations” method and just re-enable them.
There is one thing i would like to comment on here. The mesmer OP boon removal on sword autoattack… Which mesmer is going to autoattack with sword just to get a boon ripped every 3rd hit? Who is going to stand there waiting for the third attack to hit?
No self-respecting mesmer (or one that wants to stay alive) would do that. Ever.
Or you know, you could…. dodge when you hear the quite obvious and unique sound this skill makes. It takes 1 second to activate it, how much more do you need? A passive trait that would make it fail 50% of the time eh?
Frifox did some very important number crunching and he found that – in an optimal group – Assassin’s gear with runes of the ranger has the best reflect damage while only losing out a little bit on the regular dps. But this is already in the “minmax” category and if you go there, you might as well stop theorycrafting and just load up a meta pve build and done.
Working on your build and figuring it out is something that very few people bother with.
Indeed you should look at reflects in instances or places where there is something to reflect (Anet has been working kitten making more and more projectile attacks unreflectable sadly.)

Well, bloodlust as stacking sigil on the gs (because of those uncrittable world bosses. if you can be bothered to stack up for them). Like i said before, if you don’t mind the world bosses, i’d say your choice of sigils for the gs is fine.
On the S/S or S/F i’d go with Accuracy for more crit chance, Night for dungeons that are night, Force for dungeons that are in the day.
Hi,
i’d say for a generic open world build it’s not bad. Replace one of the sigils of force with something else though since you only get the +5% dmg from one. Also the greatsword is “great” against some world bosses (not all of them) but many – like tequatl – are non-crittable so perception and air sigils could be replaced with something more useful in that weapon.
If you are not worried about that aspect, it’s fine the way it is.
I won’t give you the usual “look up the meta build” comment, but i would relocate that 1 point in Chaos to Illusions and get Phantasmal Haste. Even though it does not work on the warden at the moment, but one can hope it will be fixed – soon™
I just want a GW2 blog/novella written by VeeWee.
Pretty please? They should have a living story chapter written by him.
Haha, noooo, that’d mean I’d have to come bk to the game to see it for myself.
Out of the question!
Haha, if you would have to “come bk” that means you already left, why are you wasting your time on these forums here then?
VeeWee’s style is absolutely obnoxious but at least he’s playing the game still.
Whoever find that all these different game modes reward them with “no reward at all” won’t be happy to get a birthday cupcake.
There’s nothing wrong with the rewards. Every activity you do in the game rewards you with something. Now if your gripe is with the fact that you won’t immediately get the item you want… well, aside from a few account bound things, you can actually buy things from the TP, thus reaching your goal.
Here is the actual problem: if those drops that you want (the exciting rewards) are more frequent for everyone, then they quickly become a boring “ah this thing again” experience for everyone and you’ll come back to the forums adding this same topic again.
If you don’t turn it off then that’s your personal choice right there. You have the option to look at armours or have this turned on and see the standard models. We can all move on.
" There’s now a setting in the General Options tab of your F11 menu. If you enable the Standard Enemy Models and enter a game type that supports them, all of your opponents will be represented by these models based on their gender and profession. "
If you don’t like the option maybe don’t turn it on?
You cannot make everyone happy, that has been said on the forums a thousand times over. Those who left can offer their precious constructive criticism – even though they are past that and are usually just offering bitter comments – but i’d prefer if people who actually still log in every day would be the ones heard as the community and not those who just don’t care anymore and only lurk in the forums.
The point here is that most of the forum posters already left the game a long time ago (they themselves say so) thus they shouldn’t come here and act as if they were still playing. There is a term for this and it’s called “kibitzer” and nobody likes those.
Sure, that right there was exactly my point. That since you moved on, stop protesting with “constructive criticism” and let people who are actually still customers decide what they want from the shop and don’t try to tell them what they want. Because that is not constructive criticism, that’s something else.
Once upon a time there was a town where a new bakery was going to open. The townsfolk loved pastry thus they were very excited and everyone had a vision how this new place is going to be.
Finally, on a late summer day the bakery opened its doors to the public and people rushed in to see if their hopes were being fulfilled. The little shop had to cope with some difficulties at start to accommodate all the people. They didn’t have enough tables for everyone or sometimes even chairs for every customer.
Eventually the rush calmed down and the townsfolk got to sample the wide variety of pastries the little shop had to offer. Some liked short pastry, while others favoured flaky pastry. Some went crazy for the jam-filled cakes; others loved the ones with different nuts. The bakery was welcomed by most yet – as with most things – not everyone was satisfied. Some of the townsfolk were disappointed because they couldn’t find the kind of pastry on the menu that they had hoped would be offered.
These disappointed people came to the shop day after day, trying to find something that could make them a regular customer since they saw that their neighbours and friends had become regulars in the bakery; having their daily dose of pastry and coffee or tea and just generally having fun.
But many still found that the pastry was too sweet, the coffee too strong, the sun shone at the wrong angle, the service not as fast as they would have liked it, the waitress not attractive enough (or temporary; since you know, a temporary waitress is no waitress at all). These people finally decided not to visit the bakery anymore and went on to visit other pastry shops that ran goods that they liked. They did not just move on however, they did something really weird. After they’ve eaten all the pastry they could elsewhere, they started gathering outside of this shop using protest signs, sent letters to the shopkeeper asking them to change the menu completely, to accommodate their tastes – even though the regular customers would have to leave then since their favourite pastries would vanish from the selection.
This went so far that eventually it looked as if the whole town would actually want those changes to the menu, that only the ones that haven’t set foot in the establishment for months, wanted.
As one of the “regulars” who found quite a few things enjoyable on the menu, I humbly ask the protesters, please do not try to force your favourite pastry on us. If you have left, I hope you find a bakery that runs what you want and I promise never to protest there for a change to the menu of that place according to my tastes.
I believe the biggest problem is, nobody takes hot join seriously anymore. People really only use it to get a few guaranteed wins (by abusing spectate).
Maybe, but then why don’t they read what some try to write in chat.
When at 460-435 after having capped 2 points, i ask: “stay close” … just WHY does the ele leave it again so the enemy mesmer has a free cap? The mesmer has been doing that all match long and the ele SHOULD know by now that he does not have the speed to get back in time. So why not at least consider the mini map, the request of team mates and sit on that point? Is it really hard to just not go anywhere?
Sometimes I just think a lot of players are bots.
Cause I cant imagine so much ppl being blind.
From what i’ve seen, they ARE that blind. Don’t ask how but they are.
I can understand the frustration of people who came to the game after the set was removed but honestly, if you wanted it since beta, you had plenty of time to unlock it through pvp.
Even then, people tend to interpret “play the way you want” in a very strange way sometimes. It does not mean we are entitled to get absoutely everything in the way it fits us.
I agree, we need more elegant and life-like options to choose from. All these surfboard greatswords and lego weapons are ridiculous. It’s ok that we have them but we have too many of that kind and almost none of the other.
The answer to that question is: engi can counter everything else very well. So they are forced to use conditions or lose matches.
Sure, mesmers can just equip all their nice mantras which remove 2 condis from them, that’s 4 (6 if they take the GM trait). You already had to go into mantras there just to be able to remove some conditions and you also used a utility slot. Ah but they can then take Null Field to remove even more, that’s utility slot #2. Sure they can trait for condi removal on torch. Which is also rather abysmal in an actual fight. Not to mention it makes you unable to cap points since you are stealthed.
Of course you are fine with the nerfs to engi in the past. You have not really been hit that hard. And the idea that you have to take this turret and that turret? Exactly the same applies to mesmers having to take certain things.
So yes, give engineer better condi removal but then nerf your sustain, damage, condition capabilities 6 feet under ground.
Mesmers have to eat all the condis as well or just be totally useless instead of just nigh useless.
Your problem seems to be that you want to be able to faceroll just about everything.
I’m all for giving engineers more condi removal, if they remove/nerf healing turret, your sources of regen, protection, take away your blocks, traited invulnerability, remove your turrets. See where this is going? You don’t want a hard counter, that is fine, but then your class has to be balanced so that others have options when it comes to fighting you.
Stop talking about mesmer. We talk about Engineers and engineers need better condi removal.
The point they were making was, there are other classes around with similar handicaps and if the engineer gets better condi removal, so should mesmers.
Or if the engis get better condition removal, maybe mesmers could get a “anti-genius” skill that would make all engineer skills fail 50% of the time for 20 seconds to balance the now OP class.
Nerelith, you do know that you can get everything you need for just about anything in this game, without farming for gold and buying on the TP.
Upgrading materials works very well. If you are playing even just semi-casually, you will be able to get anything you want without ever truly farming for gold and buying it on the TP.
Brilliant, but sadly true.
