How on Earth can you as a mesmer main complain about alacrity?
That’s actually a pretty good idea. Rotate these or put all of them in (at least the old ones). That should drive the prices down so more people could get them.
ArenaColin, “In regards to balance – balance is NOT driven by our PvP Pro League, the pro league is a marketing effort that has almost zero impact on our dev team. Drawing parallels between the two is at best disingenuous.”
So yes. You are correct OP. The game is not being balanced to be competitive.
Really? Because most of the things went unchanged until they saw “pro” play. Then they were quickly nerfed. (Turret engi for example.)

I have seen quite a lot of this lately and here are my two cents on the topic:
It’s easy to forget that you have different people from all over the world playing together. One has to decide if it’s worth calling them names or making them feel bad about playing this game. I know i have to work on this myself, even though it’s in pvp where i tend to be more frustrated by mistakes that could have been avoided. At least i only complain about it on teamspeak or sometimes in guild chat not directly in the matches.
There are other human beings sitting behind every character in game (except for bots, let’s just forget bots) and we should extend the same courtesy and follow the same rules as we do in real life when interacting with people.
In the end i guess all i am trying to say is, if what you would say is negative at least try to just not say it.
Leveling was fun, and not only did it not feel like a grind(as a new player to gw2 the first 20 levels took ages)
If you start from scratch, the first 20 levels take a few hours.
Of course, if there’s a QoL element GW2 could learn from WoW…
it'd be mounts!
/smokebombandfleePre HoT I would have disagreed with you.
Now, given 50% if not more of the WP are contested at any given moment out in HoT I’m much more in agreement that GW2 probably needs them.
Either that or I’m the freaking commander weither I want to be or not. Let me through the kitten gate. Meow!
Mounts are already in the game. They are called gliders.
Well, you can always ask for nerfs to specific classes/builds. But nerfing a specific build will only result in the next best thing emerging for the same role.
The problem is not bunker chronomancer, it’s the meta being as it is.
A year ago? You’re aware of the fact that it was a completely different meta back then (of which mesmer wasn’t even part of)?
It’s like saying “it’s so hot today” on a cold winter morning, then being a kitten 6 months later in the summer when it’s really hot. Why did you even write this post?
350 gems for minis that used to be in-game rewards. Huh.
(they’ve been in the gem store every year)
They were in-game rewards during the first wintersday.
i disagree to nerf as i dont believe it will solve the problem
if they nerf in some way the bunker mesmer to the point he wont be viable any more no team will take it and look for other bunker build like guard or ele or ranger who can res quick with mercy runes and support with cleanse and boons
if they nerf the rev the same result and we may see more necros
Exactly but people only see that they are struggling with the bunker mesmer and they don’t know that they will be here two weeks after the well nerf, complaining about the next OP bunker that replaced the chronomancer.
You know, everybody knows that right now it’s easy to make money by harvesting materials. The issue is that some consider if they should spend their gaming time running around between nodes or if there should be more?
Yes, all good tips. Just one thing, the title of the thread is killing it.
Chrono bunkers are not as OP as you put it here. The way to beat them is the same we used to beat turret engineers, bunker guards, and every other overly tanky build.
But why do people have to get told this every time a new bunker build surfaces? Call it engineer, guardian, whatever, it’s the same darn role, you beat it with the same tactic.
Wow that ending was really bad, ANet (Rant)

So… your character faces an elder dragon in a battle of will where the stronger mind wins and you kick the dragon’s kitten (with some really cool comments that would fit any cheesy action-adventure movie)… and you still complain about not seeing some epic monstrosity?
Okay then.
Take a look at the DS meta “afterparty” when everyone is off running after those (ob)noxious pods and hero points and so on.
It’s like a herd of cows trampling over each other. And you cannot blame people for doing so, the design of the map encourages (enforces) this behaviour. You cannot spend time helping others or ressing or you won’t be able to open as many pods as you could otherwise.
After spending over an hour doing the meta, people want their pods and there is no time to kill mobs, it’s that simple. This doesn’t mean that the community has changed just that the same person who would go out of their way to help you in a regular map, is completely tunnelvisioned to run after pods.
The point being you need a tight organized group. Its more complex than tequatl, due to separate lanes, but really, if you have a tightly organized map it works just fine.
The point most people are making is, it is an open world event which shouldn’t require a “tight organized group” or if it does so then we should finally get proper instancing tools.
Either way, Anet should have learned this by now. But either they didn’t or they didn’t want to.
Three years is plenty of time to kitten off every part of your player base. And then negativity increases.
I think it just goes to show that the majority of the people who come to the forums, do so to complain.
Well of course, people who don’t care or are content with what goes on won’t take the effort to post (they also don’t have anything to post about).
It’s sad but i agree.
I’ve seen entire wvw guilds leave wvw and people relocating to pve or pvp due to the new borderlands.
While i love the design of the HoT maps, i can’t help but wonder how they will work when they’ll become deserted. Some people have already farmed whatever they could out of them and only come back occasionally or not at all.
Hi, play one for a few hours and see if you like it or not.
This was to be expected though. They’ve modeled the expansion on SW and DT.
Factions has more of everything. HoT is, something to do.
There is no problem with “elitists”. The problem is, non-elitist people will ask you for a specific gear, build, setup because they don’t want to fail the same boss for hours on end. They are not elitist by default but the raid requires a quite specific (high dps) setup.
So at the end of the day, you cannot blame others for this, if you want you can blame Anet or you can get the gear they want you to get and that’s it.
Ironic how those who wanted to get rid of the “evil zerk meta” got their wish but now are stuck with an even stricter and unforgiving meta that is not even demanded by the players but by the encounter itself.
This was pretty much foreseeable and Anet made the decision knowing full well how it’s going to turn out.
Now if only achievement points would actually mean something, then it would matter how many they added in HoT.
I think you are missing the point of these bundles.
There are people who want the outfit, people who want the glider skin. Some might want the immortal weapon skin. And all of these people have to spend 2000 gems to get the thing they want.
Without the bundle they would each buy only the one thing they wanted for 700, 500, 300 (however many) gems.
The total makeover, dye kits are just there to make it look more appealing.

I really dont understand has all the old player given up on this game? Not even a year has passed since we had possibility to que outside of mists and it was working perfectly, same with soloque.
Not all of us. Yet. But getting there pretty fast.
The game was just called living world, it was never truly alive sadly.
The idea is great though.
You’re not wrong. What can we do?
The new maps are nicely designed but in the long run they are ruined by having a “meta event chain” slapped on them. It does not come as a surprise though, we could expect this after DT and SW.
It’s not the gunk, it is actually an issue.
its really sad that they dont even give us an incentive with the dailies to do highlvl fracs…
highlvl doesnt have its single frac daily anyway
let us have the 3 highlvl frac daily at least EVERY DAY pls
Maybe we could get an AP for every fractal we do, that would be incentive enough i assume!
If people don’t want to kill it for the reward maybe anet should do something about that, If people don’t want to kill it because the fight is boring or just not engaging for them maybe they should do something about that in the meantime the only reasonable thing to do is play fallout 4.
Or because both of my mains are condi with burn as their main damage source.
Imaging how kittened people would be if anet added a mandatory trash champion that was immune to physical damage.
I understand if you are surprised when you first face something that is immune to burning but if you go there a second time with a build built around burning it was your own fault. You knew it would be immune, you went in with a burning build anyway.
Sounds like you took a knife to a gunfight repeatedly and were still upset that you got shot.
Well, it’s nice that you found out, but some people have been using it in PvE ever since you could share distortion. Even before that it was great just for yourself, sharing it is even better.
I like this idea.
Since the golden skins look absolutely terrible, this way at least i could collect them all with a few clicks and feel rewarded.
Agreed, but there is a bright side to this. We didn’t get our personal levels reset again.
A title like “Champion champion” would be fitting.
I think the writers succeeded in making him a likable character (a real one with flaws and also a lot of positive traits), so in the end i felt bad for not being able to save him.
That he ordered an airstrike on the jungle seemed odd at first, but if you know that the whole jungle IS Mordremoth then it suddenly makes a lot more sense.
That he “stole your spotlight” as leader of the pact? Nobody would have accepted us players as leader because a) we were a subordinate in one of the orders and b) the other two orders would not accept a member of the third one as leader anyway.
I guess if the trend continues we will really see more characters killed off by a perceived “community hate”. Whatever.
Well, i like the story missions.
The release of the expansion would have been the perfect time to bring these back. Throw that switch finally.
Because there need to be some more balance patches before it becomes fun again.
The apples have to go, it’s that simple. It serves no purpose at all. The idea might have been good but leaving it up to the people to decide whether they are fit for mentoring is a bad decision.
The Vinewrath gave one box guaranteed for killing it for the first time. At least that was somewhat better because you knew you could get one and only had to farm the other two if you wanted the bioluminescent armour.
so can you only get it as a drop in VB or u can get it on all the new HoT maps? and do you have to do events and hope u get it at the end?
It is supposed to have a drop chance from the chest that you get for completing tier 3 of VB.
It’s pretty bad game design. You need to rely on others to get something you want, because many times maps don’t even get to tier 3 no matter how hard you yourself try.
Now here’s the catch. Not even the RNG, but the fact that it’s simply out of your control. You can of course try to organize a map but maybe others would like to do their hero point/mastery unlocking. Maybe they want to explore the map or do adventures or harvest flax seeds or just admire to jungle.
Why would you want to stop them from doing their stuff to work for you to complete tier 3?
Even if you end up organizing a map that does reach tier 4, it’s still only a chance for the box.
Not to mention that people like Verdant Brink as a map (for now) but if they spend endless hours trying to get this box, they’ll end up frustrated and finally leave with a “never coming back again”.
How is this good for anyone? Anet should seriously consider an optional way to get the boxes.
FO4, no regrets. Don’t look back.
Do we have to kill the same mobs over and over again do gain a minimal amount of exp?
Do we have to kil the same mobs over and over again to drop a single item which we absolutely Need?
Are we forced to go through and repeat a single instance or do exactly the same thing over and over again to get something that is MANDATORY for us to progress in the game?Because that’s the definition of grind. Just because something is time consuming, doesn’t mean it’s grindy.
If you don’t want progression, go Play skyrim, open the command window and type in “tgm”. There you go, now you can do everything without having to play the game. Quick tipp, with “coc qasmoke” you can also get all the items in the game without having to do anything.
Yes we have to do the same events fighting the same mobs over and over again.
Sure, you can move a tiny bit away to do another event with similar mobs, similar everything.
Don’t play support guardian, your only role is to remove conditions and heal people in team fights.
Don’t play pewpew ranger, your only role is to snipe people that are unaware of you being there.
Don’t play engineer, your only role is to run around being tanky and holding off people.
Don’t play mesmer, your only role is to burst.
Don’t play warrior, your only role is to go rampage and throw rocks.
Why are you mowing the lawn in the middle of october? It shouldn’t be growing too quickly anymore.
Maybe in another meta but not right now.
