Its a great combo for AoE fights (or against big hitbox foes)
FGS against a wall is still better on most cases…

The buff on dmg works also with the Vigil buff in LA for the fight against scarlets stuff.

For condi elementalist to work we need more conditions.
The stacking of dmg conditions is just not enough to take someone down.

What could change:

– Arcane precision needs a higher chance to proc (10% chance for a 25pt trait?? )
– Lingering elements work better with arcane precision (chances to apply multiple conditions)

- New traits:

Elemental Darkness – Blinds you apply cause other conditions based on attunement (Earth – Torment; Air – Confusion; water – vulnerability; fire – burn) this would open up a lot of combo potentials with the lingering elements

Arcane Disenchanter – Arcane skills remove one boom when they hit

Zephyr Speed – move faster the longer you are attuned to air. (0s – 10%; 5s – 15%; 10s – 20% – 15s – 25%) Make this trait useful at least to walk around out of combat.

Elemental recharge – When an att goes on CD all skills from that Att have 20% reduced recharge rate. (We have too long CD for skills making fast att swap almost pointless if we cant use the skills on that att)

Asura are small and hard to read animations, but also you cant see your armor and cloths much. So if your own visual is something important for you, its a bad choice.

If you plan to go with conjures:
– solo or no other source of vulnerability in group – 25/25/10/10/0 (S/F)
– grouped or using skale venon for vuln – 30/20/10/10/0
extra charges for conjures, burn on crit, fury on blasts – 20% dmg to oponents under 50%, 10% crit dmg after arcane – 10% dmg in melee – 20% dmg in water against vuln foes

As long as all skills have huge CD on their own, reseting CD on att is not something that great.

They need to shorten CD on skills so ATT CD reduction(and the CD reset) actually means something more than going back to a slightly better AA.

Would be nice to see something that makes skill CD shorter if they att they are related to is on CD too… that would be a nice signet to have instead of 1s quickness…

Pvt gear is outdated for ele, you can be quite bunker in that gear, but you wont kill anything that is not afk.

I run D/D in wvw in a mix of celestial, valks and knights with boon duration for balanced build or settlers/apothecary giver weps with perplexity for condition build (diamond skin in zergs is amazing with aoe torment on hit sigil you get a ton of bags and can run side-by-side with warriors and guards on the front train)

for any ele build you need to know how to buff yourself during a fight.
its not just about doing your rotations, but about knowing when to go for water to cleanse or for air to CC and time your bursts right.
I see some eles out there that dont seem to be fighting me, just repeating their rotations as fast as they can and expecting to win…

LH traits

I run 25/25/10/10 on dungeons for max dmg (full zerker)
+10 charges on conjures; burn on crit (10% dmg against burning foes)
+20% dmg for foes under 50%; +10% crit dmg after a arcane
+10% dmg in melee range
+20% dmg when in water against foes with vulnerability

S/F for might stacks, LH and 2 arcanes (blast and wave or shield if you need the extra defense)

With all the dmg modifiers and the might stacks, you get the autoattack chains from LH doing 6k-6k-10k dmg (or even more) with that setup.
FGS on bosses can get some big numbers also…

[edit] its not a good build if you don´t know the fights, you need to know when to dodge and when to change you LH for a frostbow or your offensive utilities for defensive ones. You have little room for mistakes.

Toughness D/D Elementalist?

If you run conditions and want to do some dmg on your ele you need something to give you more conditions.
– Sigil of Doom, Sigil of Torment and Perplexity runes will give you 3 more dmg conditions (conf + torment + poison) to cover your bleeds and burns and add some dmg to your attacks.
SoEP will help keep an opponent perma burning or weakened (good against power builds) or even add tons of chill or cripple to help keep a moving opponent close.

This is what I use when I decide to go Cond on my ele.
Its not bad.
It completely destroys PU cond mesmers, full cond necros and engis.
Its efficient against condi thiefs and warriors and balanced engies…

The gear gives you 3 conditions that help a LOT. Poison+torment+confusion…
Confusion on interrupt is great since you have so many (shock aura, updraft, earthquake), just dont spam them (8sec ICD).
the GEP is a great tool to use right before the fight. Use in the right att and it can keep opponents perma weak, constant chill, burn or cripple (the effect is set on activation, and it doesnt change the cond after that)

you are still very mobile and efficient in zergs.

I swap mistform for air signet for more speed sometimes and strengh of stone for more speed. and get the ER instead of the signet for healing…

[WvW] EC/DD - Ele Condi / Dual Dagger build

I´ve been trying this build for a bit and it can be quite fun and effective on the current wvw meta.

The idea is to apply lots of condition while keeping them out of yourself and having the mobility of d/d.

As we all know ele lacks some conditions to be able to stack dmg properly (as can Necros, Mesmers, Warriors, Thiefs, Engis… well everyone else.
We do have conditions but only bleed and burn do actual dmg.
To cover this you need to use the combo of perplexity runes + torment sigil + sigil of doom. This helps you set a few more conditions on your stack and can combo well with the interrupts and controll of DD set.

So here is the build I´m using now:

– Arcane Precision: 10% chance is really low. is this worth it? where else could those 5pts go?
– giver weapons: All our conditions have some good duration by itself, maybe change to something else, but vitality and cond dmg are also a good boosts for our low health and our dmg source. And 20s bleeds on autoattacks are not such a bad thing.
– Healing ripple or evasive arcana?

You can use glory and gold to buy the scrolls that give you one lvl.

It will take a lot of glory and some gold…

I´m having a hard time to find a decent sPvP build for my ele…
I also like the D/D playstyle but we are too squishy to be up-close in point fight.
One Necro pops a well of corruption in the CP and we are dead.

You can go scepter and insta-gib people, but you better run away quick as you will be dead if any other burst even looks to you in a bad way.

The build I found more “viable” was a zerker staff.
Just stay far away blasting other people fights with fields and run as soon as somone tries to go your way.

On trash fights the blind from hammer AA is enought to keep you alive.

On harder fights I have used focus for the missile protection and invuls it can provide on hard parts where 2 dodges are not enough.

The idea is to get your fire field, blast it with your 4+ blast finishers to stack might, get your hammer (or sword) go on water att and start to pwn foes.

Hammer is better on trash for the blinds, while fgs does better dmg on bosses…

You can achieve more than 5k auto-attacks with the hammer on some elite mobs.

The idea is to use all the dmg% bonuses
– burn on crit + 10% dmg to burning foes
– vuln on crit + 20% dmg to vuln foes (water att)
– 10% dmg in melee
– 10% crit dmg after arcane skill (rotate your arcanes to achieve maximum duration, bonus dont stack)
– 20% dmg to foes under 33% health

When the hammer expires, recharge your might stacks and go over again.

You can change the dagger offhand for a focus for more defense for some bosses/fights.

Charr can look more engi (with the look on kits and turrets) and it can look quite bad-kitten
But as a big character it makes hard to do some JP and makes you more visible on large battles (WvW).
Most armors dont look so good on charr.

Asura can be a fun engi to play with.
They look nice on most engi armors (magitech, T2 – T3 Cultural, Aetherblade…), you can use the kits without looking stupid and super-wepon skins look great (and sound funny) on them.

extra toughness can be a problem sometimes with the way aggro works…
and if you go bombs, you probably have nades for ranged fights.
and world events you can get your FT just to tag things and works without any traits anyway…

When I use FT I run 0/25/0/20/25
The basic FT traits with SD and turrets (RT and TT) for tons of blast finishers to achieve 25 might
full zerker gear

For me using FT with SD was the best way to improve the dmg of the set to reach near the Bomb/Nade dmg.

My main problem with it is that you can´t use it underwater and you dont have much of a range.

And Bombs have more utility

Then go with bombs instead of FT…
you get a fire field, another blast and more dmg than FT without 20 in alchemy.
Healing kit, Bomb Kit, Thumper Turret, Riffle Turret
Healing Kit for more might on heal due to no CD.
Bomb kit for fire field and BoB blast
Thumper for 3 blasts and one stun break when needed
Riffle turret for low CD blast Finisher
5 blasts – 15 stacks
HK – 9 – 12 stacks (battle, EP, Altruism)

25 might stacks with ease using all the blast finishers on the FT fire field.
good ammount of burning due to riffle turret TB skill comboing on the field also. Use the Riffle turret overcharge to get some extra Vulnerability on the target before you blast it, you got time, the FT field lasts for a long time.

With 2 runes of altruism and a sigil of battle you get 6 (and 3 to your group) stacks of might going into healing kit. With the long lasting might stacks and the ability to go on HK at will, it goes up to 12-15 stacks for you. Add that the stacks from juggernaut and from the 4 blasts in the fire field and you get perma 25 stacks with no problem, while doing dmg from SD on the target.

I also love the FT.

On pvp is not that good, as others said, mostly due to retaliation.
But on dungeons, on a power build, it can be great.
I use a FT migh stacking SD build and think the dmg and utility is great.
I can stack 25 might with ease and do great burst and sustain.
FT has a good range for dungeons, you can stay just out of most of the aoe circles, and still reach the target without worring about reflection.

The fire field on the FT lasts for quite long, so you can easily use your 4 blast finishers on it to give 12 might for the team, and then change to the med-kit to give 3 more while getting some fury for yourself. With the FT this will give you constant 25 stacks and keep around 20 stacks on the team. It also keeps a good ammount of vulnerability on the target, not as much as granades, but still nice. And while you are building stacks you are still putting out nice dmg with SD.

The stability got removed and the procs got nerfed with internal CD.
The might is great, but not as good as other ways to stack might we have available.

FT needs some work to get a place and find some use that is not just flavor (its freaggin awesome)

Maybe change the #5 to be a blind field and #3 to better reflect projectiles (make it a short channel like flame-jet and reflect while active)

And put some form of stability on juggernaut, immunity to knockdowns and push-backs maybe, still vulnerable to stuns and dazes…

HGH/FT Build Critique

I was trying a FT build too.

I was thinking about FT with HGH o with SD.
HGH gives more might, but with SD I can still keep a good ammount of might and clear utilities and traits for other things.

can stack lots of vulnerability on target and got nice dmg bonus from traits (15% for FT, 10% for endurance full, 5% if tgt bleeds)

Perma swiftness vigor and -almost- fury (with healing kit and googles)
Tons of discharges for more dmg with toolbelt skills.

good control with riffle and flamethrower

I´m not sure HGH benefits can be better than SD benefits (trait allocation and utilities) when using the FT… I´m still trying, but so far, I like SD better…

SD with riffle turret and the googles seems to do a nice ammount of dmg.
With the 15% bonus from trait, plus the 10% from having full end, plus the 5% from bleeding enemy, and all the vulnerability stacks I`m seeing 5k on FT autoattack and about 2k per SD hit, all AoE. I can use a SD every 8s with turret TB and get a full stack of vulnerability going with crits from FT and the TB from googles.
that with constant stacks of might and furry.

Its not a HGH or granades build, but Im having a good time with it so far…

Ah, numbers are from TA – Aether path, bosses…
and all the pushes are quite usefull too

Was a bit tired of granades in dungeons and wanted to make something with the flamethrower for fun, but still do decent dps.

I decided to go with this:

The idea is to keep the might stacks up with FT while using the fast Utility belt skills to fire multiple discharges. This should keep high stacks of vulnerability and some stacks of bleed and burn that improve your dmg on the target.
Use the riffle to control the target and keep it bleeding.
For more AoE you can trade the googles for rocket turret, unless you need a stunbreak.
The turret(s) are to be used when their toolbelt skills are on CD, so you get extra discharges (use turret, overcharge, blow it, use toolbelt)

The on demand swiftness and vigor keep your dodges ready and your endurance filling for bonus dmg.

The patch seemed to accomplish what it was supposed to for Guardian, ele and necro. Multiple viable builds brought to a decent level.

Mesmer, thief and ranger however must of had a different balance team because it did the exact opposite. They managed to pigeonhole those 3 classes even further into a single build that they are forcing everyone to play. Shatter build for mesmer, D/P or D/D crit build for thief and longbow with no pet for ranger. It seems ranger got the worst of it though.

I have to disagree here…
I think power ranger has a really good potential now, you can buff your pet with so much might that you dont need all those points in BM. And Longbow got some nice changes.
Thief got some nice possibilities too. The CD reduction on steal, coupled with the changes in blinds and weakness opens up really good opportunities for other builds. (mug heal on low CD!)

I think it should be the other way around.
All world bosses should require some work (actual challenge like SC, not the current pre-events) for them to spawn.
Maybe with the exception of some low lvl ones like FE…

The thing is, if you give players (the farmer ones) the slight advantage on anything, they will do it non-stop and forget about anything else.
So buff SC and the rest of the world will be empty, even if its a 0.1% increased chance for a exotic, or some fake MF boost.

I’m happy with the changes. I think they are quite nice.

TL/DR: They reduced dmg of most bunker specs and improved most burst specs. Its a great change to the game META where bunkers are king (in PvP and in pve- “trait wise”). Give some time for the new builds to start showing.

My ele, d/d – Sure, lost about 3-7% dmg and a few stunbreakers. But dmg was too high for its survivability, and that survivability just got boosted with the changes to weakness! I can still heal and cleanse like crazy. On top of that some very interesting burst and condition-bunker possibilities, I was trying a scepter burst build last night and it has great potential! Staff I hardly ever use, not my style, but seems those people are happy too.

My ranger – BM bunker. I can still do a TON of conditions and have great healing. Pet dmg was really way too high. BM could go all out defense and have the pet dealing crazy burst. I mean, there is even a youtube video of a guy running around naked with just a warhorn on WvW killing tons of people with just his jaguar pet. 30 BM pets will still do a good dmg, just not those 7k crits anymore. On the other hand power builds got some nice bonus to buffing their pets and increasing its dmg, and GS/LB is looking even better than before!

My Guard – AH bunker. I really want to test the new spirit weapons, and a build that uses both AH and zealous blade!! This just look too good.

My thief – Meh, really not much changed. I dont like S/p that much. The change to blinds and weakness will make the thief more survivable, but the changes to the stun-breakers will hurt. The new shadow-trap is looking quite good though… I also think there will be some interesting new builds with the changes to steal and venom share. The changes to SB are a big hit in big scale fights, but with the new SoM and weakness (easy combo on SB) maybe we can survive a bit more on the frontline.

Will need tons of new armor sets now…

3 – create a healing rain over yourself
4 – burst into flames dealing dmg, burn and knocking foes back.

Its quite easy to lvl.
Use glyph of storms in earth for aoe blinds, get a few combos out to build might, get a lightning hammer and wipe everything with auto-attck while changing att for buffs.
