And indeed, they know people want SAB back. So why do people feel the need to spam the forums about it? Do people really think that they will decide to release it right now, just because people rage about it?

Nothing is wrong with an official petition, that is how you get things changed in government or at least a start to change.

Just post it on reddit and other website then post on forums/email to anet. Who cares if its against the rules, they must be told how many of us are unhappy.

This isnt some small thing that a few players are unhappy about, this is a huge problem that alot of players have nothing but LOVE for.

We arnt mad b.c its buggy or unfun… we are mad b.c its so much Fun and we have so much Love for it, we just want that back….

But it is against the rules. No matter how right or whatever anything thinks it is. Rules are rules. And they are made to be followed.

I am sure ArenaNet is fully aware that some people are unhappy about it considering it have been SPAMMED all over the forums for quite some time.

And yes, it is a small thing overall. And I think you overestimate the amount of people that feel the need to have SAB right now. Sure, many of us want it back. But we want it back when it is ready to be back, not when people rage loud enough for it.

And this is why they are not so keen to communicate.

Every single thing they ever say is considered a written in stone promise and even if they are very clear that things might change, people will bring it up years after in order to bash them for “lying”.

Read the Code of Conduct for the forums.

Most specifically this part:

Do not post petitions, “I demand an answer” threads, conspiracy threads, or comments about circumventing the rules.

It should be turned off in a few hours I believe, when the event is over.

Other than that you can turn off the sepia by turning off post processing in options and the sounds by turning off dialogue sounds.

You’re claiming in previous posts that they’ve spent “months” developing this prank; if you’re correct (which you’re not), it would have been a very small aspect of that to make a simple function to reverse the actions. It’s also not a waste of time to take a bit of consideration for those members of your player base that can’t get on every day out of 365. Excuse me for not being able to play very often. My mistake.

I said months to PLAN and develop the prank. It is also rather likely that is something that is mainly done on peoples free time, rather than something taking time out of the expansion development. Every minute counts in development.

As said, it is still fully playable, even with this prank. Having a single day every year where something happens that people might not like isn’t a big deal.

Simply put, Anet cannot be expected to know every tragedy that happens in regards to small local accidents but this one was blatantly in the news and it is insensitive to Europeans.

So suddenly because car accidents happen it is fine to be insensitive towards Europeans who might be affected by the plane crash and subsequent witch hunt over depressed people.

Is it so hard to admit the plane thing is a bit in bad taste or a little too soon?

But what about those people getting shot at basically EVERY SINGLE DAY? Isn’t it in that case also bad taste to have guns in the game?

A tragedy is a tragedy no matter how much or how little it is talked about on the news. The fact that the news care more about certain type of tragedies than others doesn’t mean those tragedies are worse.

The event have been planned and developed for MONTHS. And tragedies happens EVERY SINGLE DAY. They can’t just stop releasing stuff because someone can draw a (very thin) line between it and a recent tragedy. If they would do that, there would never be anything released.

The personal tragedy for people involved is just as great in a car-crash as in a plane crash.

The fact that the plane crash got massive amounts of publicity doesn’t make it worse than a car crash. People still died.

I dont even know why im going to bother responding to you. but really its not that hard to write a button that simply “Turns off” the event when pressed(Assuming that their coders have any experience with the programs, etc they use), at least from my admittedly very small time spent trying out flash games, it was one of the first things i got taught back when i was taking a video game design class…

It might not be all that hard, but it is still something that would take time and resources. And why waste time on it for something that will only be available for 24 hours anyway?

It is also a rather massive difference between a flash game and a game like this.

It’s not a stupid request. I’m sure nobody expects it to be done this year. If they do, you’re right, it’s unrealistic. But since ArenaNet has a history of this kind of prank, it’s likely they’ll do this type of thing again next year. What people want is some consideration in the future, which really isn’t too much to ask.

It is extremely unlikely that SAB will EVER return as a April Fools again. They have already done that, why would they do it again? SAB will return, but I find it very unlikely that it will be on April Fool’s.

It is not any sort of agenda at all. It is simply reality. People care way more about stuff that happens in the Western world than in the rest of the world.

Yes I do.

They released the destruction of Lion’s Arch just after fierce bombings and battles around the world. And yet no one had any issue with that whatsoever.
But I suppose that might be because those bombings and battles didn’t happen in the Western world, and therefore they are not as “tragic or important”.

And no, not even close to everyone loved SAB. Heck we had a rather large amount of posts that demanded the removal of this “silly, completely out of place thing”.

You can talk all you want about being happy with just W1 and W2. But if it actually happens and it is just W1 and W2 people will rage just as much, because there is no new stuff.

We KNOW SAB is coming back at some point. Spamming the forums about demanding it back won’t change anything.

Have to say, I’m with the OP. The timing makes this in extremely poor taste. They could have done a last minute replacement. The sex change in GW1 comes to mind, as something that ought to be reasonably easy to do.

The airplane noises and pose are just… yeah. I’m a south park fan, for crying out loud, and THIS is still just wrong.

Oh, but the sex change thing could easily be connected with the tragic signing of the new law in Indiana for example, while not nearly as horrible as the plane crash, it is still something very offensive.

Not to mention transsexual people being abused and murdered around the globe rather often.
