Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
To someones loved ones.
yeah because tragedies happen everyday, right?
Yes, they do.
People die daily from war, starvation, sickness. It usually don’t go a day without a bomb or a mine exploding somewhere, killing or maiming a bunch of people.
lordkrall. tragedies happen every single day. and tomorrow, tragedy will happen to your loved ones. how would you feel?
I would feel sad about it, but I wouldn’t demand that a completely irrelevant video game took it into account when releasing stuff. It is simply not feasible.
Tragedies happens every single day.
Going by this logic they would never be able to release anything at all, since it will always be possible to make a connection to said tragedy.
The disclaimer about not being offensive goes both ways. As another poster stated: they haven’t even identified all the bodies yet. I would have scrapped the aprilfools joke cause it was just a little too close to a “recent tragedy” still playing out on world news….
But what if they decide to release the expansion on August 25th.
Then on August 24th some country decides to invade another country, and killing thousands of people and soldiers.
Should ArenaNet scrap their plans for the expansion then, just because the whole: “Thousands of people got massacred by Mordremoth” could be seen as a connection to “Thousands of people die in newly started war”?
As I have said: Tragedies happens every single day. The fact that people don’t care about them because they aren’t as well-published as this one, doesn’t really matter. Things happens, and if they should take all of those things into consideration at all times they will never be able to release anything.
They haven’t even finished identifying the bodies. There is such a thing as tact, maybe lordkrall you find the concept alien, but a company like Anet shouldn’t.
Oh, it is all terrible and all that. But a company can’t build a game around that. Since there is ALWAYS things happening.
People are being killed daily by bombs or rifles or whatever. Cities are being bombarded. People are starving. People are being abused or tortured. Every single day.
The only reason people react now is because it is a well-published thing happening in a western country. Had the same thing happened in Africa people would have already forgotten about it more or less.
And in the wake of such tragedies events are often rescheduled or canceled.
So they should simply have to potentially scrap every single piece of created content, because at the time they plan to release it something have happened in the world that can be seen as connected to it?
That will never work out.
dude airplanes have been crashing a lot the last year or two if you didnt notice, im certain it started way before this was planned.
And cities have been blow up a lot as well, does that mean they should not have villians attacking cities?
Soldiers have been killed in wars quite a lot as well. Those that mean that Mordremoth should not have destroyed the Pact, but rather invited them for tea or something?
One can always make connections between stuff. But if they should take all that into consideration there would never be anything at all released.
I’m sure it not funny to anyone that had a connection to one of the many recent downed airliners…Someone didn’t think this through very well or don’t keep up with the news.
Things happens daily that could be connected to every single thing released in the game. So going with that logic they should simply never ever release anything, right?
Because someone might get offended or see a connection between that and something that have just happened. This joke was planned and created long before the situation you refer to.
So they should basically never ever release anything at all, because it could after all be seen as a reference to something that have happened somewhere in the world that month?
It’s March 31st.
Not on the server.
Events are based on server time.
And in fact, over here in Europe it have been April 1st for over 3 hours now ^^
This could be a little insensitive considering some people could of lost people in the Germanwings crash…
:c
But going by that logic they can’t really release anything ever. There is always situations that happens around the world that can be connected to releases in the game.
I have been into WvW and the sepia tone does make AoE tells and capture zones hard to see.
Which can easily be fixed by turning off post procession.
Mind bogling that some posters here cant comprehend that some people have limited gaming time and making your our characters run around with aviators hats on and arms out, making stupid sounds, is unplayable for some of theese people.
If you have so limited gaming time that a single day out of 365 is this bad, maybe MMOs or games in general is not the thing for you?
It will be here for a day. I think you will survive.
I’m an rper, my chosen mode of play is unplayable. And maybe they’ll learn to put in a option for those of us who found it amusing at first, but quickly became annoyed with it. Sorry there are people out there who don’t want to endure a joke for a day or more, but we do exist.
You have 364 other days where you can RP all you want.
This is a SINGLE day. Is it really that much of an issue? And if it is, maybe it would be good to simply take a break from the game for a day and do something else instead?
Why should they bother spending more time than necessary on something that will only ever be available for a single day?
Maybe the whole airplane thing is not in the best taste given the Germanwings incident.
It was over a week ago. There are things happening all the time at some place, going by that logic they should never be able to release anything.
It is called April Fool’s.
Goign to be honest… I found it really fun and I just can imagine ppl running Lupi’s fight in Airplane mode, the sounds are good and everythign is fun.. But this weird filter is giving me headache; and probably I´m not the only one.
I care not for the plane stuff but this filter is just being something really problematic.
Turn off post processing the the filter will disappear.
The game is not unplayable.
And you are also asking for something that is not implemented. By the time they have implemented the ability to turn it off (more than you already can with options) the even will be long gone.
Please make a quick patch to disable this for people who actually want to play the game or do some roleplay.
Plenty of reasons listed above. I’m glad some people find it humorous or original, but for me and the people I play with, it got unnerving after the first minute.
You can turn off the sounds by turning off dialogue.
You can turn off the sepia effect by turning off Post Procession.
There, it is more or less disabled.
The whole wing deal is something you have to deal with, and I doubt it will have any major effect on you as a whole, considering that it is here for e SINGLE DAY.
So you basically only have a single day every year to play, and that day just happens to be April Fools, which is known to have these sort of things?
As for turning it off: Sure, that could work I suppose. And I am sure the devs love spending time on creating stuff that people don’t even bother looking at for a day.
Yes. I am sure this took many months of 50 programmers time in order to add to the game. Clearly they decided to pull every single person away from fixing bugs in order to get this one day event working!
Because it’s ridiculous that a game would present “game-stopping” parts, especially as a very unfunny joke.
But it isn’t game-stopping. People are just overreacting and reaching for straws in order to attack it.
It is fully possible to play the game just like normal.
If people somehow have some sort of actual issue with it, you can very simply turn it off. Something that people here seems to completely ignore.
It will be here for a single day people. I bet you can handle it. If not: Simply don’t play for one day and come back when it is all gone.
I am offended by [insert something here] therefore you should remove it!
It is for ONE day. The fact that the character also makes sounds and have a freaking aviator cap on their head should make it rather clear that they are imitating airplanes, nothing else.
It is called April Fool’s.
It is not broken. It is intended, which you probably are fully aware of.
It is called April Fool’s.
Most games do something for it.
Funnily enough, if they had NOT done anything, people would have whined about that as well.
You either lower your dialogue sound options (to remove the sounds) or you wait until tomorrow when April Fools is over.
How hard can it be to bring back at least world 1 and 2??? Takes them a few minutes… but even that seems to be too much -.- screw you :<
Except for the fact that the game have changed quite a bit since last time, which could very well mean that W1 and W2 would be quite broken, which would require quite a bit of rewriting of code and such.
People seems to think that just because something worked 1,5 years ago, it is possible to just press a button and have it back in the game again, despite the game having had multiple rather large changes since.
Why are people ignoring the fact that one actually can turn off the “game-stopping” parts of the thing?
What are these 7 minutes people talk about?
The reset was almost an hour ago, and this years April Fools have already been released.
It is still a very small part of the community. And I even doubt all of them even care about SAB, some of them probably just join in because it is the “cool thing to do”. Just like how riots and such work in the real world.
Wasn’t reset 46 minutes ago?
That was when the April Fool’s event started at least.
Turning off post processing will remove the sepia tone at least apparently.
Been logged in for only a few minutes. Already annoying.
I knew they would do something dumb like this instead of doing something a large part of the community wants to happen.
There is nothing at all that a “large part of the community” would agree with wanting to happen.
It will not stop them fully. But it WILL make their business more annoying, especially considering how swiftly the market can shift. Which was not the case in GW1.
It is worth keeping in mind that there have been quite a bit of changes to the game since. Which basically means that they potentially would have to change a rather large part of the code, even to bring W1 and W2 back.
And lets not kid ourselves. Even if people are claiming that “W1 and W2 will be enough” we will see them rage if they don’t release any new stuff. Kitten, they will complain even if we got W3 and W4 as well.
Naming and shaming is not allowed, so I would suggest removing the names from here.
All you can do is report them. Either in-game or via the support function.
Keep in mind however that Dungeon Selling is not something that is supported by ArenaNet.
I would suggest masking your email, seeing as that is basically half of your login information posted right there in plain sight.
^ Did you even read what his site offers?
Yes.
It offer services that is not supported by ArenaNet.
More specifically out of TP-trading.
Yeah I have the same feeling. I didn’t think the expansion would come at the price of another year without new pvp or WvW content and the end of the living story.
I thought the precise point of the living story was that it would keep going.
They could at the very least bring all the content they removed back.
And yet this was exactly what many of us that preferred the LS method warned about.
It is simply not feasible to give two week releases and ALSO work on an expansion if they want to get the expansion out in some sort of decent time-frame.
^ So you are doing something that is not supported by the game, and then you complain when they change something that effects that?
Things that are not supported by the game should never be taken into consideration when doing changes.
Still doesn’t answer how much you are willing to pay for all the work required to get DirectX 12 available for GW2.
No matter how much you try to twist and turn it, it will be a rather massive cost and it will take rather large amount of time and they will need to hire more people.
Never gonna happen,,more likely a GW3 will be running on Dx12..if ever.
Oh, I am fully aware that it is extremely unlikely, but the OP kept talking about being prepared to pay good money for it, so I questioned how much he would actually be willing to pay.
Hehe, those minis are such a tease. Especially if we don’t get SAB tomorrow (which I personally don’t think, considering that they have already done that April Fool’s joke).
Because they cleaned up the forums?
Having half the page filled with sections that you can’t write anything in looks bad.

We do? Since when?
Since Bobby said it in this post:
The messaging has been approved and edited. It’s now getting localized. The post should go live sometime on Tuesday if all goes well.

It is rather unlikely we will see it today, since we know that we will get a post about the Personal Story fixes/changes.
We might get it later this week of course, but it is highly unlikely that we will get two big posts on the same day.
Why would they release SAB on April Fools? The whole point of April Fools is to do something unexpected.
The fact that everyone and their mother seems to shout about SAB, would make it rather silly to release it tomorrow.
It will come at some point. No need to spam the forums about it. It will come when it comes, simple as that.
Although it would be rather funny if they pushed back the release one month every time SAB was mentioned here….
