Being disappointed with how development works is forbidden now?
No.
But the fact that you have spent weeks only talking about how much everything sucks and how bad it will be I question why you simply don’t move on with your life.
If I dislike something I tend to move away from it, rather than spending as much time as possible telling everyone else how much it sucks.

Anet is definitely hiding something big. It’s called a disappointment.
Why are you still here?
In that case it is also missing condition duration.
I would say adding those two would make it quite unbalanced however. Especially considering how hard it is to get it with other sets (considering that they are only really available on a single set, Giver’s, which is quite limited and overall rather bad)
Stress test is basically to get as much people to play as possible at the same time in order to see how much the servers can handle.
Oh, I agree that you will still receive the newsletters, but I also seem to recall there being something along the lines of adding yourself to the list again (via the HoT link) put your mail to an “active” list rather than just taking everyone that is signed up since release.
Thus you would need to sign up again, even if it is the same newsletters, in order to be part of the pool for the beta.
Actually based on the nature of the bugs about 90% of them would most likely not have been detected at a testing server at all. Mainly due to the fact that it is quite likely that most of them turned up when patch was added to the live servers, which a test server can never fully mimic.
ArenaNet actually does have testing servers, they are just not public.
I have played multiple games with Public Testing Servers and yet every single one of those games still have rather large bugs when the patch is pushed to live.
It is in most cases simply a waste of resources, since most people would just use it as a way to play content before everyone else.
Sharing accounts is not allowed. You technically gave her the account when she used it, thus you can’t regain it since it is not yours.
Even if he played 24/7 since last month, he wouldn’t have played 5k~10k hrs like many of us in forums :P
Having played 5k hours since release doesn’t mean you have played more than someone that have played 200 hours in a month though. Relatively speaking that is.
There have been 22,512 (give or take a few) hours since release. 5k is less than a fifth of that time.
One month is 744 hours. That means that those 200 hours is fourth or something like that. Which basically means that the one playing 200 hours one month after release have played relatively more than someone that have played 5k hours since release.
I’d like to highlight this one. This is very important.
It basically means this lottery has NOTHING to do with loyalty. It means it’s selected from almost all accounts despite how long they play or how much money they spent. They should just change the wording to “selected from lucky fellows throughout all accounts”
We don’t have any idea what “just bought” means though.
Did he buy it yesterday?
Did he buy it during the sale?
Did he buy it a month ago?
How much have he played since he bought it?
How much have he spent on gems since he bought it?
It is a bit early to make a statement like that with the limited information we have.
“Please understand that these are early beta tests designed to stress core systems of an expansion that’s still in development.”
These betas are for stress tests. Why are you picking me apart, as if I am some nemesis of yours? How else do you think one finds bugs? One has to play the game.
Did you read my whole post? I quite clearly pointed out that right now it is a stress-test so not that important, but when it comes to the actual betas in the future, it will be about finding bugs and helping to make the game ready, not “play before everyone else”.
Never once did I say I was “entitled”. Obviously it is a little disappointing that I didn’t get into the beta. I mean, who doesn’t want to play HoT before everyone else. I knew there was a chance I would not get in. “If you’re one of the lucky players chosen to participate”….
I am more disappointed at what ANET stated in the email. “one of our most loyal customers”.
And in this post you present a great reason why you should no be invited to the beta. I have bolded it for you.
Sure, this is a stress-test so it doesn’t really matter much. But for the real beta tests, that is not the way of thinking that ArenaNet wants.
I agree it was a very poorly worded email (as mentioned before on this thread).
This is all I have to say. And to the person who called me “melodramatic”.
It honestly wasn’t melodramatic. As a customer for 3 years, it is disappointing to see others being named as “our most loyal customers”.
How was it poorly worded? People actively playing the game can be considered loyal. And once again, nowhere did they say that ALL of their most loyal customers would be invited.
I have been with ArenaNet since soon after Prophecies was released, and bought everything that was released for GW (including the stuff in the shop and the campaigns and the expansion) and Guild Wars 2 + thousands of euros in gems.
I have played more or less daily since head-start.
That doesn’t mean I should automatically be granted access to the beta. Even if I am “more loyal” than some others.
Pretty hard not to be upset as ANET considers me not to be “One of our most loyal players”.
I have played since Beta weekends in 2012, Clocked in as many hours as I possibly can and I regularly spend money on this game.
Guess I should find a new game to play.
You were part of the pool of most loyal players (as were I), not everyone in that pool got invited (I didn’t).
Nowhere in any way or form did they ever say that everyone on the list would be invited. Especially not for the first test.
Why is it poorly worded? Nowhere did it say “one of all of our most loyal players”.
I could have agreed if there was someone invited that bought the game a week ago and got in. But as far as I have seen that have not been the case, everyone that have reported being invited seem to have been playing for quite some time.
It is very likely that it will be a special beta character slot and no it is very unlikely that said character (or the slot) will be usable outside of the best test(s).
I’ve been signed up since launch of GW2.
I believe you might have to sign up again, in order to show interest/activity. Thats what I understood from the blog post at least.
Ooh, looks like beta was indeed starting up very soon after the conventions ^^
Make it count OP!
^ Why put it there when it is very likely it will come back this Wintersday?

Time challenge in burning vines being a major feature? No wonder this game is so casual.
Time challenge in burning vines is a single example of a much larger system. Adventures.
Then there is the whole outpost system. And yes I would say they both seems rather big.
They seem to imply that specializations that only gets off-hand/half-bar weapons will get something else to make up for it.
Which might explain the new F5 key-bind that turned up with the latest patch.
I don’t really see how it is unfair though. Weapons and such haven’t been even across the board since release.
Didn’t the health thingy got changed with yesterdays hotfix?
One could of course also question people’s priorities if issues like these (that doesn’t really effect the ability to play the game at all) are the worst thing ever.
Good thing that you do not have to use the new camera system then. You can have it just like it was before patch.
whatever it will be, make the rewards worth the effort, for once.
So that we get even more PvE-farmers locking up the borderlands stopping actual WvW guilds from getting in?
I am not sure that is a good idea.

Keep in mind that Outposts and Adventures seems to be quite major part of the new maps, and yet we heard a grand total of nothing at all about them during the announcement. So I would say it is fully possible that there are some big things left to tell us.
Don’t join speed-run group.
It is rather easy to either find or create a casual normal group for all dungeons.
The main issue is that forcing people to clear all mobs might mean it will be even harder to get groups to do it. Since quite many of the dungeons have a rather large amount of high HP mobs.
The update included quite a bit of HoT beta stuff, which might be the reason for much of the bugs. They are working quite swiftly though, with daily fixes and should be more or less done within a week, unless something is really elusive.
Wasn’t the main issue that you didn’t know your GW1 details?
Anyway, creating multiple tickets for the same issue won’t speed it up.
Creating another ticket will not speed it up. Especially not when creating one with false information. Quite the opposite in fact.
That is not what I am saying. I am just pointing out that your whole: All tickets should be handled in the order they come in, no matter if they are GW1 or GW2 thingy doesn’t really work considering that GW1 issues are not in any way or form priority or not even relevant to these forums. Which have been stated multiple times (but you refuse to accept).
Yes, it is bad that it takes time, and yes it should be fixed. That doesn’t change the fact that these forums are not for GW1 however.
Try updating your ticket with additional information, which might make it visible again if it has somehow fallen between the chairs so to speak.
The fact that you have read those links should suggest that you already know that they do not use these forum for GW1 support. Especially considering that one of the posts even mentioned your ticket and you answered said post, which quite clearly stated that they do not review GW1 tickets here.
Here is another one:
Allow me to clarify. This thread is used for Guild Wars 2 tickets and anything involving Guild Wars 1 (including linking) is something that I can’t answer for you. It’s simply a matter of my not being trained in how Guild Wars accounts work.
I don’t have information to share on GW1 tickets. They are being worked (slowly) and we do apologize.
Your hostility towards others trying to be helpful is staggering. This forum is for Guild Wars 2 support and as I have said before I do not have additional information on GW tickets.
1054644 – This isn’t something support can help with. You need to submit a bug report in-game so that Quality Assurance is aware of the issue.
1069443 – GW Tickets are handled separately from GW2 and have a slower response time. We’ll get to you. =)
Is that enough to prove that these forums are for GW2 issues and not for GW1?
Everything marked with a 1 is for Guild Wars 1 and I don’t review those here. However; I am looking at policy to speed up our response times. This will involve upholding banned accounts under all circumstances so if you’re appealing a ban from 2010 you won’t see a response from us.
Guild Wars 1 tickets.
If your ticket is login related we’re moving GW2 team members over to work on those. If it’s an appeal and your account was compromised we’ll get you back in. If it’s gameplay related you won’t get a response immediately but it will eventually direct you to the Guild Wars wiki.
Going forward all GW accounts with linked GW2 accounts (or seeking a link) will be handled by the GW2 team in order to speed things up.
Again – we only support game access and exploit reporting for Guild Wars. All other issues are no longer supported (game hints, bugs, etc.).
So they are working on it, but slowly, seeing as it does not have a very large team and required movement of some GW2 personal to those specific things.
Fact still stands that GW1 is (and should be) lower priority than GW2.
Guild Wars IS in maintenance mode, and have been for almost two years now. The updates are small and mainly for major issues. All events are reruns of already existing events. Same with the birthday gifts. No new events being added and so on.
That thread specifically talks about Guild Wars 2 issues however, just like everything else on these forums.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
What time should they spend on preparing though?
When they are working they are developing the game, not standing in front of a mirror talking.
So a game that is basically in maintenance mode should have just as high priority as a game that is fully active with updates and upcoming expansion?
The fact that they have support for it at all is quite impressive I would say.
What kind if ticket is it for that matter? And have you gotten any sort of reply?
No, it is not relative. Certain things are, without any question, bigger issues than others.
Bigger issues is a matter of perspective. I hadn’t felt the consequences of anything fixed so far, but i still have to struggle with not reading my guild chat if i switch to another char and forget to do the invisible thing and guild mates coming at me furiously asking why were they kicked from the guild because of that bug.
Traits basically killing a character, exploits and game crashes are objectively bigger issue than being unable to talk in a specific chat (especially since there is a working workaround for it). The first things are actual game breaking while the last is mainly an annoyance.
Aye, would be nice with a tournament. But I would suggest waiting a few weeks in order for people to adapt to the new Stability changes.
I personally prefer people that have actually created the content talking about it. Sure they are not as good as professional presenters (that is not their job after all) but at least they know the exact thoughts and way of thinking behind the content being presented.
‘Cause fixing a blue wurm is more important than fixing guild chat. Why can’t you understand that?! Gawd! * rolls eyes *
Of course not.
But maybe it was a very simple fix and thus it was ready by the time the more urgent fixes were and thus they added it into the hotfix as well.
It is not like they are sitting around working at one issue at a time.
dude big issues are all perspective because we are all diffrent playstyles and while the voice and chat bug may not be a big issue for YOU it is a huge issue for the few of us who get our enteretainment through the chat and interactions.
No, it is not perspective.
A big exploit, a trait almost killing people using it and game crashes are big issues.
Chat issues and voices being weird are annoying, but they do not break the game.
It is distracting and a bit annoying yes (the guild chat can be temporarily fixed though, by setting your status to invisible and then back to online again), but it is no where near game-breaking.
Especially not compared to stuff like certain traits putting people in downed state and game crashing/launcher locking or a rather easy to replicate and abuse exploit.
Would you rather they postponed all fixes (for much bigger issues no less) until they have found a way to solve the other issues? Isn’t it better to just push out fixes as soon as they are ready? Especially when it comes to basically game-breaking stuff.
Perhaps not. But with a Public Test Server and actual players logging in, you can get much closer, and your customers can decide for themselves if they want to beta test your latest patch.
So, why do these game with PTS still end up having glaring bugs when the patches are released?
Clearly something doesn’t work, and I would rather have ArenaNet spending money on developing the game than spending money on a PTS that potentially will do nothing at all other than spoil content.
It is of course also rather easy to avoid any potential issues that comes with a patch: Wait a couple of days for any issues to get patched. It is not like you have a subscription that is ticking away.
Based on the evidence at hand, these non-public test servers are not getting the job done.
Even if they had these PTS and spent months testing every single patch issues that turn up specifically on the live servers would not be found. That is the key here. “Turning up on the live servers”.
You can never get a testing environment that is completely identical to a live one. And as such issues that turns up on the live server but not on the test servers are basically impossible to find before they go on the live servers.
I think this patch goes a long way toward verifying that ‘very little’ would be better than ‘absolutely nothing’.
And yet it is quite likely that most of these issues turned up on the live servers while not existing on the test servers (they do have test servers after all, they simply not public).
Is it innovative (and hip!) to not have a Public Test Server for things like this?
I have played multiple games with PTS, they also have bugs when release comes to the live servers.
PTS does very little to fix bugs.
The disks were created about 2,5 years ago.
Since then there have been about 40 or so updates. No matter what you have quite much to download and update.
The disks is basically only the very base of the launcher.
You could try to use the new streaming client thing though. That should get you into the game faster.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/coming-soon-beta-version-of-streaming-client/
- Guild Chat doesn’t work for 1/2 the guilds
- 50% vote threshold doesn’t work
- Guardian Aegis blocks First Person Camera
- Sound bugs (on both skills and dialogue)
- Loading Screen is pushed up like the camera (so 1/3 of screen is black)
- Report a bug is messed upProbably more, but that’s all that I currently know
And most of those would probably still have happened no matter how many weeks they spent on QA, since they could very well be stuff that turned up when the build was added to live as opposed to the testing servers.
Several of those aren’t really bugs either I would say. And very few of them is actually effecting the game in any real way.
Anet should have released this update at a later date. Even with the extra week given for QA this is possibly the most bugged patch Anet has released (it is at least on par with some of the LS1 bugged content releases).
What is so buggy with it?
^ CCs, so I would assume one instance of Chilled/Cripple/Immobilize/Daze/Stun/Knockback/Pull will remove one stack of Stability.
I am very disappointed they didn’t include restoration of greatest fear plotline and promised fixes and updates for personal story lv70 and lv80
Like personal story is not important and how stability is used and if www maps offer map completion is more important then personal story ???
So they should postpone all changes until the change you find most important is ready?
