Krall Peterson – Warrior

Ah, bank vs. wallet, gotcha. Why? Is there a limit to coins in wallet? (not that I’d know, I’m poor)
Probably a matter of people being unable control how much they spend if they have all their money in one place.
I would like to answer that with another question: Why add houses?
You had at least two weeks (per episode) to simply login in in order to unlock the episodes for free. And even if you missed that window you can trade gold for gems and buy them that way, or join someone that have them unlocked and do it without any kind of payment.
People also seems to remember ArenaNet saying that you would never in any way or form ever have to pay for anything. They have never said that. They said that after you bought the game you would have access to the game forever. Not after you bought the game you will have access to everything in the game forever.
That is a rather large difference.
We got a trailer for the new borderland.
Ah, the movie ones can indeed “fly”. But the book ones only floats a couple of decimeters over the ground.
That was another guy not him. He quit WOW because he think wow’s pvp is unbalanced and boring.
And it only took him over 10 years to learn that…and it just happened to be when GW2 was starting to become the “cool thing” with all the hype about expansions and such.
I don’t think that is a coincident.
I hope I don’t get flack for this (I love ya Anet!)… but let’s keep it real…
If you actually read the title of the mail it quite clearly says gift from: signarokkaos.4035.
Nice try though.

Dementors can’t fly.
Aren’t they available from Silverwastes/Dry Top vendors or via achievements already though?
What S2 items have vanished?
None of them have vanished.
I suppose it might be a case of trying to bypass the gem-cost for missed episodes or something like that.
Which is yet another reason as to why they will not get added to the Laurel vendor.
I doubt they will be added there, seeing as Season 2 is permanent content.
The reason for them to be added for season 1 was Chinese release I believe, seeing as they got the game after Season 1 was already over.
Wouldn’t the most serious player be in WvW at all times and thus not go to PvE to get their hard earned gold?
2-3 people can defend a fully upgraded keep for quite some time against 30-40 people with good placement of siege and so on. That should also give enough time to contact people on other maps in order to get assistance.
Why would you need it?
I was thinking the same thing, until they told us about the camera changes. Aren’t those basically QoL things, too?
Which might have been developed/needed specifically for something in the expansion, but they decided to release it early.
It is of course also possible that they do have people working on other stuff than the expansion or that this have been in the works for quite some time.
We have no information as to when the change will come. Only that they are working on it. We do know that there is a patch coming on Tuesday, but no information about whether it will include the fixes.
You can level up all you want, but if you want to see the story in the correct order I suggest waiting with doing the Story quests at least.
The Personal story have been changed. You know get it in blocks every 10 levels. So when you get to lvl 70 you will get your new batch of Personal Story missions.
I would suggest waiting a bit with doing that however, seeing as it is currently somewhat broken when it comes to chronology and such, with a fix incoming at some point in the future.
Which doesn’t prove anything at all.
It could easily be explained by simply not having WvW available in that specific build for example.
Nope.
And it is unlikely that it will happen.
No, because in the trailer you can clearly see charr characters running together with human characters on the same side.
Also it wouldn’t make sense considering then you’d just have one side with massively more people on it than the other.
I would assume the OP talks about the different areas of the map.
One being Asura-centric, one being Charr-centric and so on.
So, why would anyone ever bother buying Pavilion or Airship passes if you can access basically the same for free over there, with a nice teleport from everywhere and back there directly.
The fact that his last post was 8 days ago actually supports the idea that he have resigned/given up/left/got sick.
We have no idea how many PMs and such he have gotten attacking him.
Time will tell.
Sadly, the NPE locked away a lot of features new players should have access to immediately for some reason. I guess Anet thinks new players are idiots? You used to be able to pvp from level 1-80. I thought that was a great feature even if I don’t pvp myself. One of the few things I loved from WoW years ago was being able to level up through dungeons. I wish there were more story mode dungeons and being able to “random queue” and just get in with some people and experience the game. The current interface creates anxiety and pressure.
But yes, since the NPE got introduced, you are essentially forced as a new player to do renown hearts until a new path opens up to you. Very restrictive and short sighted and against the principles on which GW2 was founded in the first place. I have no idea what they were thinking when they implemented it and I hope they fix the NPE for HoT, hopefully by just going back to how it used to be at worst.
It is actually MUCH easier now to PvP from lvl 2 to lvl 80, with all the Tomes of Knowledge drops and such. It is also fully possible to join PvP at level 2.
Claiming that you are forced to do renown hearts is also very much incorrect. You can still do dynamic events and map completion, which is where the bulk of the experience gain comes from (and have been coming from since release).
There are events in every single map. The vast majority of them also have Hearts. Both which give large amount of XP.

I have a sneaking suspicion there will be a pre order which gives you access to the closed beta which people will pay for and those people will beta test. I can’t imagine there won’t be enough people willing to pay for early access so I wouldn’t worry about not being randomly selected. I’m sure there will be addition of various prices where you can have a mini something and an exclusive glider skin… Oh and a title!
I personally feel there is nothing wrong with this. Get some early return on investment while testing system. nothing wrong with this system. I don’t like when you pay to beta and don’t get access when the release drops… I don’t know why people go for that. Everyone has their reasons I suppose.
To be fair early access and closed beta isn’t the same thing.
It is very possible that pre-orders will get access to potential beta event weekend as with the original release, but even then they did have closed betas that were not accessed by pre-ordering.
ArenaNet does real closed betas, not marketing event “closed betas”.
I suppose it is completely unthinkable that he/she/it simply resigned after the raging against him/her/it when the selected FS were announced?
Or maybe he/she/it is simply ill and haven’t been able to do it.
There are many possible reasons, and yet you go with one of the most unlikely one.
I would assume that it needs to be the same as the account, seeing as they most likely also looks at the account standing and such when making the decisions about whom to invite.

And yet someone that have played since headstart and yet only ever played WvW or sPvP would be exactly the same. Time played != knowledge about the game as a whole.

But should they be required to have played daily since then? Or what would be the cut-off point?
Also keep in mind that only inviting veteran players would be very stupid, seeing as new players bring new experiences and such to the board. They also aren’t tainted by the whole “it was much better before” things that is seen quite often here on these forums from veteran players. New players as well as old veterans are needed to get a balanced and good test.

Anyone who’s account has been playing since the 3 day headstart deserves immediate access to the beta tbh.
New accounts shouldn’t be allowed access to HoT at all because these players do not understand the game well enough to give feedback as to what does and doesn’t work (Sorry new guys, it’s true).
So, player X that started on 3-day head start but took a break for two years and just got back should be guaranteed access, while player Y that started 3 months ago but have been playing daily since should not be allowed in at all?

“loyal customer” = spent money in the Gem Store
Or people that have actively played for a very long time.
Loyalty != money spent.
But once you’ve gotten to 80, you can do anything you like in game really. LS, PS, WvW, Crafting, Collections and Dailies all give a huge amount of AP and it is very easy to get a lot very fast. If you are an avid AP hunter, you can easily get “reasonable amount” of AP before you learn about meta-builds/dungeon builds, party tactics and the sort.
Eh, I wouldn’t really say that WvW gives a huge amount of AP. In fact, playing only WvW, will probably take you years to get up to even 10k APs.
Are you aware what an automatic response means?
Also keep in mind that creating more than one ticket on the same issue will just slow the process down.
You will get a personal response after a while, the automatic reply is just that, automatic, as a indication that the ticket was successfully submitted and includes some tip on how you can avoid the same issue in the future.
I’d be suprised if the Beta testing is anything more then demo.
If they just port the Demo to say… 10,000 people.. and of those, 4000 play for no less then 8 hours a day, and then give decent feedback, that’s 32,000 hours of play testing and reviewing served on a golden platter to Anet for next to no man hours themselves, which is not a bad thing mind you. Hell, even if you take into account the 6000 that could get at most 3 hours a day, that’s still another 18,000 hours of data collection… You can do a lot with 18,000 hours of data.
and that’s just the first Beta…
Do you honestly think that they will release the expansion with only having large-scale tested a very small part of it?
I do not think you know what a beta actually is (which is quite common nowadays, most companies sees betas as marketing events rather than actual testing). ArenaNet do on the other hand, based on past experience of GW2 do real betas and actually changes stuff based on feedback during those betas.
That would depend on how they do the betas. It is quite likely that they do them in staged and doesn’t just add the whole expansion into the very first build.
I am also assuming that we will have deep dives on all things before beta starts.
AP and playtime are just measures of leisure time. There are plenty of people who, due to real life constraints, only play a bit. But they’ve been on board since the start. Preordered the game to beta test and get the few day head start and anything.
And would those people really be good for beta testing? If you have limited time so that you could only play a bit, joining a beta and give feedback would probably not be such a good idea.
So, basically you are reposting a theory you had two years ago, that contains nothing not already theorized by others by that time and claim that you were right?
There have been people claiming the existence of a sixth Elder Dragon since release, same with people claiming the Sylvari are minions of said Dragon.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
… doesn’t one need a lvl 80 toon?
That depends on how the tests will work. It is quite possible that we will simply be given a lvl 80 character on the beta-server. Or they want us to try out lower level stuff as well in some of the tests.
If they want a system that is gonna last they need to update the renderer. It was borderline embarassing in 2012 (DX11 came out in 2009), to still have dx9, now, in 2015? It’s just…. ugh, please update it!
You have to keep in mind that they didn’t start developing the game in 2012, they started in 2007 (at the very latest) with an engine from 2003 or something like that.
People also seems to underestimate the work required to do something like this. “please update it!” sounds easy and all, but in reality it would take months if not years to get it done, seeing as it would require a completely rework of the whole engine.
A time which could also basically be void of new content, since adding more content designed with DirectX9 in mind would add to the workload of converting the engine.
Would like more information on SAB other than ‘it will return.’
At least a date so we know ‘when to return.’
That would however require that they actually had a date for when it would return, something that they most likely don’t.
You mean like a greatsword that shoots laser beams and summons phantasms in one character’s hands but is a heavy hitting melee attack in another’s ?
But you know that a Greatsword in the hands of a Mesmer would do that, while a Greatsword in the hands of a warrior would not.
With the OPs suggestion however you would have no idea if the weapon he/she/it held would shoot “laser” beams and summon phantasms or if it would create a chaos field.
Oh, me too, I am just not expecting anything, seeing as they have said nothing about showing us new stuff, while on the other hand they have told us that we will get a tour of the new WvW map at Rezzed. One would think that if they had anything planned for PAX they would have said so by now.
No, I simply meant that they didn’t go to PAX East to announce stuff, they went to PAX East to market the game. Thus it is unlikely that we will see any real announcements.
I am disappointed, period, by the lack of information. AngryJoe interview gave us nothing and now PaxEast also gave us nothing.
PAX East started today. It goes on for two more days. It is a bit early to claim that they gave us nothing.
But yes, it is very unlikely that we would see specialization announcements on PAX, simply due to PAX not being an event for them were they announce stuff, but rather just go there to market the game.
Yes, it shows the class. But if you can have two completely different weapons using basically the same kind of skin, it will be rather hard (not to say impossible) to know what skills will be thrown at you before you see the first skill go off.
Behave like first time in dungeon.
Maybe it is first time in the dungeon?
Dungeons give rather little AP and you can easily get a massive amount of AP without every entering a dungeon.
AP is a completely useless indicator of knowledge and skill.
Even if you are chosen it’s not all that great if you don’t live near the location they send. Almost makes it even worse ha ha.
…what?
You are aware that the betas are played from home, right?
Nope.
Once the account is activated it will stay that way (unless it gets banned for one reason or another, inactivity is not one of them though).
Why would they add it to areas that already have loads of people? It would make much more sense to add it to “dead” zones.
Which is silly.
You should be able to know what the enemy will be able throw at you before you get hit by a massively hitting AoE or Condition bomb.
The problem is that there are Scythe skins for Staff. Making a Scythe skin for GS would make stuff very confusing in PvP or WvW, especially for classes that can use both (Mesmers and Guardians right now, with Necromancers being able to do it with expansion).
What makes you think the fights will be the same? There is plenty of games were you face the same enemy multiple times during the course of the story, yet it is quite different every time. What makes it so hard to believe that ArenaNet could do the same?
