Yes, and it took quite some time between it was first requested and it was actually implemented.
But this is going nowhere, you have already decided that the beta tests being done won’t change or effect anything at all and are thus completely pointless, so no point continuing to discuss this.

Most of their improvements come from inhouse testers. Get over it. Public beta is marketing. In house is the main beta now days.
Public beta is just a demo. Anet will do public beta when the in house say the game is good enough.
So, why did they change stuff that was basically exactly what the testers requested, after a test when they gave that feedback?
If they only came form inhouse testers, why didn’t the change come until after the player-testers had given that feedback?
It seems to be discounted yes (checked some hours ago, currently costs 500 gems).

Dude/Lady
Beta testing has never been about testing products. It’s a known fact that Anet uses in house testers, not outside testers. This is how they been able to keep a lid of things so much. The beta testing is just for marketing. That’s why they set it up like this.
Most of the stuff will have already been tested by In-house testers long before public touches it. Some bugs slip through the cracks, but that’s to be expected.
Don’t expect any major game design flaws to be changed from feedback in the public beta.
I am surprised people don’t know how this work by now…
To be fair ArenaNet is actually quite good when it comes to actual betas. There were rather many things changed in EotM for example due to feedback from the beta-testers.
There was also quite a bit of stuff changed/added to the initial released based on beta-testing.
While the more open beta tests are indeed more of a marketing events, the closed betas (especially the early ones) are actual betas.
Why else do you think we don’t have a release date yet?

What happened with the method you used for EOTM?
Well, seeing how the WvW forums talk about EotM it does seem rather clear that the system used for that testing was a rather massive failure.
They will probably just use the same RNG from the game to pick them. Since that gave me one pre-cursor since launch….I’d bet my chances are pretty slim.
Quite unlikely, seeing as they outright stated in the blog post that they want active and loyal players. Which would suggest that people playing actively (and for a long time) will have a higher chance.
Guild Wars 1 or Guild Wars 2?
Strangely feel like there won’t be any specialization in this Beta so… Not interested at all.
Right now from what i have seen, revenant seem to have a pretty smooth gameplay, mastery seem pretty well done and it would be difficult in a Beta to try to stir out everything out of them because of time gating. I’m fine with how camera work right now so…
Only thing that could be motivating would be to see actual common champs in game with new defiance bar, but it’s more likely that the beta will not be available out of new map.
Do you really think they will release the expansion without testing specializations? The Revenant is based on what we have seen, not even done yet, so I would say it would still require quite a bit of testing.
We have also seen a very small part of the Mastery System, so there is probably quite a bit to test there as well.
It is actually very unlikely that the beta would be locked into the new maps, considering that they are actually changing stuff in the old maps, they also need testing for those things.
Is the main account already subscribed for the newsletter from an earlier time? That could potentially be the case. No confirmation if you already are signed up.
They might be looking into it. But keep in mind that the engine the game is built on is over 10 years old (it is a modified version of the GW1 engine) and the changes to the engine made for GW2 was done about 7 years ago or something like that.
Making it support DirectX 11/12/whatever will require a massive amount of work and resources, something that could be rather hard to justify when they don’t have a steady stream of guaranteed income every month.
If we don’t get at least the entire Maguuma jungle released in this expansion, I will be angry. Cause after we kill Mordy, what reason will we have to revisit the jungle? And more than anything, I would like to see Tyria be fully explorable in time, unlike GW1 (meaning the entire map of Tyria is someday uncovered, and no blurry areas that we can’t explore)
What reason do we have to revisit Orr after we killed Zhaitan?
What reason do we have to revisit [insert any zone here] after we [insert thing done here]?
It is quite possible that the Jungle might lead toward a possible location for Primordus.
lol, people are telling him to buy a legendary at lvl 32.. I’m like no.. Copper Fed Salvage-o-Matic then a permanent bank contract would be a lot better lol
And also completely pointless, since he will probably stop playing rather soon anyway.
Post it in this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/GW2-Tickets-for-Review-3-days-older
he seems like a kittenbag, how does he hold 10k viewers
I would assume because he seems to be jumping from the cool thing of the day to the next cool thing of the day.
Aye it is legal.
Seems like a waste though, seeing as he will probably move on to the next “cool thing” rather soon.
We are getting Masteries which will give the ability to get guaranteed Precursors with HoT.
That is not really how it works..
Borderland… That’s WVW, right? Don’t care…. Just like I have no care/interest for Stronghold so that does nothing for me.
So there is no new info unless it is something you are interested in?
I hope deep dives about specs will be published before closed beta, so march-april.. Because they should be available in closed beta, shouldn’t they? I’m dying to know more about Druid, Mesmer and Guardian specs
It is not actually certain that they will be available in early closed beta.
They are actual betas after all, rather than marketing events and as such it is fully possible that they stagger releases in order to get better focus.
Yup… That’s why I expect no new info coming out of PAX East and Rezzed.
Hype train has run out of fuel.
Actually we know for a fact that we will get a tour of the new borderland at Rezzed and that is very much new info.
Very unlikely.
It would be rather silly to make them playable without first having deep dive blogs about them.
I wish the OP the best of luck as I have the feeling they probably have some sort of “reserve the rights” to basically take anyone name and bam NPC, force a name change. Which is unfortunate.
Yep, they have it in the naming policy.
More specifically this part:
This policy may not cover all inappropriate or disallowed names. ArenaNet reserves the right to reject any name it concludes, in its sole and absolute discretion, is indecent, obscene, offensive, or that otherwise violates our naming policy or the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. ArenaNet reserves the right to examine names on a case-by-case basis and take whatever action we deem necessary in our sole and absolute discretion. We reserve the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Guild Wars 2 Naming Policy at any time.
Which is rather standard for any game really.
While your at it, have them show you, Where in the game is this NPC? Maybe you can get a time frame of when this NPC will be back.
I am quite certain that the NPC is in the game right now.
They will bring back the wings again don’ t worry.
Of course they will bring them back. They outright stated it in the very blog post about it, and it was also restated in this very thread by Gaile.
Have they stated the number of specializations being released on the first go, or if you can hold off on choosing a specialization?
I can imagine that specializations are completely optional, or at least I hope so.
1 per profession.
You can also freely switch between specialization and base-class any time you are out of combat.
24 hour availability screwed ANet as far as I’m concerned, I get paid every two weeks; now I’m much more likely to spend that money I’m getting paid else where next Thursday because ANets not going to have any thing I want to buy.
Hey it’s only money, except some one else is getting it not your company next week.
Here in Sweden we get paid once a month. Does that mean they should only ever do sales once a month (usually around the 25-28th)?
Ah, yet another reason to not wanting ArenaNet to give him more publicity then.
He takes money from companies, and yet he also gets a massive amount of money from donation made to the stream.
People taking money from companies to advertise stuff in the first place is rather bad in my eyes, and it would feel quite false, since he would basically be paid to play, rather than playing it because he wants to.
I would assume that the sales are specifically targeted to people that actually plays more or less every day though.
The demo will not be playable from home.
There is a closed beta starting up soon after Rezzed though, but we still have no information about how they will chose participants for that.
Who?
Sounds like he might be one of those that simply jumps from game to game, which is usually not all that good publicity to the game developers, since that would more or less look like the streamer (which have quite a bit of influence) thinks the game sucks, which might deter people from buying it.
I just wish the gem purchase functionality would get fixed…
Whats wrong with it?
It works fine for me.
You clearly have no clue about Norn culture. Norn are not human. You can’t apply human values to them.
If you call this a zone where tactics/co-operation is needed, you have not played anything serious in a long time.
More specifically the bosses. The majority of them can’t really just be zerged down. If you try to do that, you will fail quite badly.
I honestly don’t know if the items in question will be “permanent,” if you mean they’ll be in the store forever. I’ve seen items rotate through, and I know that not every item is available every day. What I do know, from the post on the website, is that the items are a sort of preview and they will be offered for a longer period of time and not just a single day sometime in the future.
Ah, good point. I’ll edit it to be more clear.
That is how basically everything that sells thing works.
Permanent? There’s no reason to limit this stuff, it’s not like there’s an actual supply that can run out or continuing to sell them would cost Anet extra.
It will be permanent put back into the store in the future.
But the reason for time-limited sales is because they work. People feel rushed to buy stuff and they do it. It is simply good marketing.

What should the timer be?
What if I am away for a week? Should everything stay for a week?
What if my computer dies and it will take me a month to get all the parts needed to fix it?
There will always be people that misses out.
I played all of it. It was still a zergfest with numbers being the #1 advantage and not players or co-ordination.
I suppose you haven’t spent much time in the Silverwastes?
It’s not exact, but it seems to indicate that specializations are not actually a new class, but more like a subclass. Druids might not get a new icon, but if you see a ranger running around casting more nature spells and wielding a staff, then you can bet they are “speced” as a druid. I’m going to re-watch the Angry Joe interview later again to try and gather what I can better.
Oh, I agree, but that is not the OP have been talking about in this thread. And what the OP have actually been talking about is in noway confirmed by the video.
Please, quote the part that supports your argument in the OP. Because I have listen to it multiple times and I still can’t see how it says anything at all that would show that you were right.
Don’t really see how anything there confirms what you say actually.
I had no idea that I ever wanted a golden pig until today…
So it’s not instanced, officially dehyped. Anything openworld ends up being too easy what do you expect, it’s just a numbers game.
We do not know if all of the fights will be open world actually. They have made a point of the fact that there are multiple of them which also suggest that there will be many fights against them.
As for anything open world being too easy, I assume you have never done Triple Trouble Wurm?
Ebonhawke is an outpost, not a city. But yeah, point.
I must have missed the bit where Arena Net made that statement, care to point out the article or interview where it is said?
Not that I do not believe you, but this is the internet.
Well, they didn’t directly say it, but there were some interviews made right after the announcement where Colin stated that the expansion picks up more or less 10 minutes after the end of Season 2, which would make a Season 3 basically impossible.
I’ll see if I can find one of them.
Where was the Golden City confirmed as a zone? Are you sure it’s not just a region within a zone?
Well it is a city. So far not a single city have been in another zone but rather zones themselves.
To be fair it is quite unlikely that they would add a super-hard boss to a demo.
Maybe?
We do know that they did hire raid designer quite some time ago. Along with some major work on AI.
One could also read the Masteries unlocking daily Champions for Rewards as potential raids, I suppose.
Time will tell.
We already have two zones confirmed. Verdant Brink and the Golden City. Unless the Golden City is connected directly to Verdant Brink there will be at the very least another zone there.
Or it could be that they never really were the Mursaat, and people jumped to an incorrect conclusion. Just saying. I’d rather it be Mursaat, but not gonna get my hype out of proportion.
To be fair floating creatures with multiple “tails” living in a Golden City does sound extremely much like Mursaat.
Mastery points are NOT gained by leveling up. They are gained by completing certain tasks such as 100% completion of a map or completing a chapter of the PS, it also looks like Heart of Magumma will have places you can earn them similar to skill point challenges in old Tyria.
You will use MPs to unlock mastery tracks(you will then have to select the track as your active track), as you gain XP the track will progress until you hit a milestone. At the milestone you will gain that ability then you must spend more MPs to unlock the next section of the track.
Is that really how it works though?
Based on Bogotters video it did sound that if you had the Mastery track for a specific Mastery active it would automatically add Mastery points to that tracks when you gained enough XP to “level up”.
