Honor Guard Finisher

Hello, I am wondering which weapon the Honor Guards are using in that finisher.
Not that Balthazar greatsword to be clear, but the 1handed sword that the guards are wielding.
I really like the skin of that sword, I looked through the wardrobe and couldn’t find it.
So is there a possibility that this will be released as a skin?

I would be very pleased, and I think other players would be too.

Warriors secondary class speculation

Too me some berserker / rampager kinda swing would be cool for Warrior.
With skills that need to be charged before being performed and the longer you charge the more dmg you do. Something like Jecht in Dissidia or Slayer in Tera combat style, being able to chain a combo on an enemy without the enemy being able to retailiate if done correctly. Further specialization in greatsword !
(Though the current elite skill Rampager might contradict this)

So I hope it will be something like this!

More Modern Pistol Skins!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

luzt.7692

Every class that uses a rifle of pistol should have a forced hobosack with a belt of ammo feeding into their weapon, it’s the only way to explain the rof they have without needing to reload.

I wasn’t trying to discusse the realism of the weapons.
I was approaching it from a design point of view, because nearly every pistol has a cylinder ammo chamber the base of the design is very similair.

I would like to see more modern looking pistol skins.
The majority of the pistol skins look like 13th century pistols…

There’s no such thing as a 13th century pistol. The first pistols weren’t developed until the 16th century.

Wiki tells me otherwise, althought it’s a vague depiction of a pistol/firearm.

No it doesn’t. From Wikipedia:

“The pistol originates in the 16th century, when early handguns were produced in Europe. The English word was introduced in ca. 1570 from the Middle French pistolet (ca. 1550).”

You’ve attempted to suggest that pistols existed in the 1200s (13th century) when cannons had just barely been introduced to the Asian battlefield. Europe didn’t see cannons until the Siege of Cordoba in 1280CE. The first “hand-held” firearm used in Europe was the hand cannon, which was in the 1300s (14th century) and that’s a far cry from a pistol.

Pistols did not exist prior to the 1500s. Fact.

“The oldest surviving gun, made of bronze, has been dated to 1288 because it was discovered at a site in modern-day Acheng District, Heilongjiang, China,…”

Eitherway not claiming to be an expert or anything, but thats what I’ve read.

If there were modern pistols then there would be modern firearms such as machine guns which would look ridiculous and make GW2 look like an FPS

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/2/2d/Guild_Quick_Shot.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/6/67/Pact_Handgun.jpg

So apparently these pistols have already tainted the sovereignty of the holy grounds.
And you are saying that if modern pistol skins would be added, that every single person would use them and every single person would instantly play Mesmer/Engi/Thief ? And if everyone would immediatly use that skins it would mean that everyone actually wanted it, right?

That is because it would look stupid? Yeah it’s not that hard is it…

Thanks for your personal opinion, I on the other hand don’t like the way 95% of the pistol look like because they look oldfashioned.

In Tyria there are alot technological advanced gadgets, so I don’t see why modern looking pistols wouldn’t fit.

And if you like the oldfashioned pistols then you have a big choice, so I don’t see why you would care if modern skins would be added.

Add to that there are already 3-4 modern looking skins, so your argument is weak.

I would like to see more modern looking pistol skins.
The majority of the pistol skins look like 13th century pistols, cowboy revolvers,
pirate pistols, handheld cannons, 18th- early 19th century pistols or faraway imitations of a raygun.

And then you have a bunch of pistols that are just artifacts with a grip (and something that acts as a barrel) that are supposed to be pistols.

The majority has a cowboy style cylinder to hold ammo, if anything at all.
No pistol has its ammo(clip/magazine) in the grip, even the asuran pistols don’t have it.

So the only modern looking pistols are the Pact handgun (chaos gun shares same skin), Guild quick shot, Glyphic/Dark asuran pistol(but they are huge) and perhaps fractal pistol. A pretty small choice, compared to the options of old fashioned pistols.

Thats why I would like to see a bigger choice!

If you say its working as intended, then why isn’t it possible for all the other classes?
Why do I have to play a ranger or necro to afk farm in Silverwastes ? This is forcing me to play a particulair class to enjoy an intended feature.

Tengu or Kodan is prolly gonna be played by a small minority because they look too much like animals, like what happened to charr. Majority doesnt wanna look bulky and animal like, and if you played gw2 you know its true. I would also feel bad for the developers who put effort into it. Therefore i support this race that is humanoid.

The map was done well too, but ATM not much incentive to go there since i got the skins now.

What do you think PVP on PVE maps?

Thats why i usually grind to max level asap xD But with epic I meant fights with a meaning instead of random pk’ing lowbies.
And with a meaningful fight I mean something like defending Your territory with Your Alliance or fighting over a worldboss that drops some unique loot. I guess the constant competition between big guilds is what I miss in Gw2, WvW is rather unpersonal and doesnt give the same experience.

could use guilds which also gives more meaning to them.
I find the pvp in gw2 quite boring and meaningless. Winner or loser the difference is too small. It doesnt give that epic feeling which i had in different games.

GW2 vs. FF-XIV

Nice read, but I think the OP didn’t play FF14 for that long.
Eitherway I prefer the Gw2 combat, in FF14 I could do most bossfights with one hand because of the tab-target system. And the myth/fate grind for relic weapon was insaneeeee. But perhaps better than obtaining a precursor in Gw2.

Getting 8 competent players together for turn 6+ was really a pain that made me give up on the game.

I dont enjoy doing the same content more than once. So give us infinite dungeon tokens and acces to an infinite supply of ascended items once you crafted it for the first time. No, need to start drama about it.
True enough anything goes in zerg content, your presence doesn’t matter. Basing your argument on something meaningless is in my eyes a bit weird.
You’ll make the thief community angry if you call p/p viable.
Has no acces to stealth unless using utility skills, so Sneak Attack can’t be used.
The auto-attack has little power and little condition dmg, basically mediocore at both, master of none.
900 range only.
You can ofcourse justify the “I-play-how-I-want” mentality, but luckily not everyone does that.

2 groups that wish for 2 different end-game's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

luzt.7692

You want to be the shiniest most hardcore looking player?Work for it.

There’s a difference between putting more effort into achieving something, and something being locked beyond some arbitrary “skill” (meaning, usually reaction time and manual coordination, and sometimes muscle memory) threshold. Legendaries fall into the first category, and thus are available for all players – it’s just some would need to work longer for them than others. Lot of the proposed “end game” ideas fall into the second, which means it would be just plain inaccessible to majority. There’s a place in this game for the first kind of “end game”, but second should be avoided.

Wait, what?
You want content that requires dumb luck and hours of stale grinding?
Well, I prefer to use my brain while playing.

If the attacks of bosses were easier to notice and react to, without lame auto-attacks with hitboxes that are too big, (Mossman,Archdiviner,Champ Etin, Sons of Svanir boss etc), I think everyone would be able to enjoy them. For example that one boss in Dry top Sparring Rock Master. And it also requires more balance between the attack speed of the boss and the dodge recovery. You can’t dodge every auto attack, so remove them or make them less frequent with higher dmg.

The one thing that I always wanted and suggested was being able to sell to the highest Buy Order and let the tp take the fees when the sale was completed, letting you pick up the difference. So that if you had a high dollar item to sale you could benefit from it without farming for days just to pay listings before you could even put the item up for sale. If you was trying to get best price then paying upfront fees for listing a Sale Order would be required.
I was told that the way the TP works they could not do this by a Dev, that they would have to rework the entire way the TP worked for that and it was not gonna happen. Yet they did rework it but lazily just left that same old way of handling the fees in there. To me it just make more sense to do it the way I suggest.

I like the new improvements but still wish this one feature had come with the updates to the TP as well. This would have been the cherry on the top. Guess this is never gonna see the light of day.

Agreed, your suggestion is a great solution to the problem. Substract the listing fee of your profit when you’ve sold the item.

This will hopefully be a great improvement.
I’m just wondering about something, the tax fee that you gotta pay to put an item for sale leads to, in my eyes, a problem with the more valuable items like precursors.
The listing fee is so big when dealing with such valuable items that not many players like to adjust their price to the lowest seller. Aside from the few players that substantially underprice, which leads to a stagnation of the marketprice.

It’s not that it troubles me much, but I just noticed it since I’m trying to sell a precursor myself. I don’t mind waiting longer to sell it and perhaps it could ofcourse be intended.

Is anyone happy anymore?

Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?

For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.

Absolutely. The change to Golem Mark II is a good example of ways to do this. There should be no safe zones where the player can just plant and spam 1. Players should always be moving and engaged with the fight.

Agreed, Golem Mark II is my favo fight because you can die really quick if you aren’t paying attention when you melee.

I personally don’t like the phases where you gotta destroy the crystals, because 75% of the ppl just stay on their spot anyway. How about you get a debuff and if you don’t meet a condition within 20seconds you turn into a crystal and die?

[Suggestion] Old PvE Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

luzt.7692

In fractals you got some of those things already that you want.
In several fractals there are mobs that give boons to eachother (Ascalonian/Grawl one)
Mobs can be lv83, so they have more hp/defence.
Some bosses can be “cc’d” (crowd control, 1 boss isn’t a crowd) with immoblize.
(Mossman/Archdiviner/Mai Trin are made easier that way)
Uncategorized fractal has Harpies that can knock you from a platform and in Cliffside you can fall off if you get hit by the blowing wind or fireball. Ya, Stability/Projectile reflects are useful.
And then we got all the mistlock instabilities.
Wanna hear whats funny? The majority of the fractal lvls on LFG are advertising for the less annoying mistlock instabilities.
So in the beginning players might enjoy your suggested changes, in the end players prefer the easy ways.

ps. condition still cap at 25 and don’t work on structures

But is it really that hard to imagine a player joining who thinks he/she knows how others are supposed to play and demands this to happen or else he/she vote kicks you with his buddy? And that is only 1 of the many scenarios that are unreasonable.

I personally don’t get bothered at all by people with Commander tags.
I’m not checking the map 24/7 and mainly avoid the PvE zerg content, but it has been useful. For example when there is a commander, players actually know where to go/gather. No commander? Not sure if there is gonna be enough players to complete the event.

“Although, surely, if I’m forced to see the Tag does it not then necessarily become my business?”
So anything you lay your eyes upon becomes automatically your business? Must suck to watch TV.

All in all, I think this is too much nitpicking and there are statements that maaaaaaaany peeeople are irritated by it, but I think its only a small group.
