What I really want to see is the big guys (teq, kitten, jormag) becoming “map wide” events. Think Jormag…but with two more phases on two additional spots on the map. I know it might be a bit of a technical strain but I’ve always wondered, why do teq and kitten keep landing on the same spot…they don’t feel alive. But if they had more phases on different parts of the map…Epic?
One can dream…
Agreed, I really loved bigbosses like that in games. They terrorized the entire map, made you scared of them if you happened to encounter one on your own.
I know you don’t actually mean them wandering around, but just at certain locations.
Though I would love the first one.
And give us the headpieces of outfits as armor skin in the wardrobe since its already a seperate part.
Good post.
My guild has been stuck on lv27 for over a month, everyone has lost their interest in it.
Only the guildleaders are still donating everyday religiously. Alot of materials required straight up demotivate me.
There needs to be some activities that you can unlock within the Guildhall, some added incentives that people will like. A reason to go to the Guildhall besides using the Merchant NPC to sell stuff and the Scribing station as a personal bank.
Or else it’ll stay a deserted place, like so many other places in Gw2.
In that sense, Lion’s Arch should still be a construction site.
And 3 world threatening events took place in a timespan of 3 years, Zhaitan,Scarlet and Mordremoth. So alot happens in a rapid pace.
Aside from that, the old Lion’s Arch is still playable in story missions, that means it is possible.
Take in consideration, there has been quite some temporary content that new players will never experience.
Ofcourse it is not likely that something like this will actually make it into the game.
What other boon or condi is only accessible by one class? I’d say their unique mechanic is being able to reset any and all skills on their bar as well as health and endurance. Alacrity just supplements the time theme. My point was just that thief has little to no access to the “do stuff quickly” boons, which seems weird.
He’s probably referring to stuff as Banners, Empowered Allies and Assassins presence.
Alacrity pretty much falls in the same category, right now.
I don’t enjoy condi thief, spamming deathblossom and venoms is really stale.
If we had similair options with different weapon sets that were as effective it could be good. So I hope they’ll add/increase offensive conditions for AA’s, like some extra stacks of bleed/poison.
-Trader/Merchant profession/feature/system like in Silkroad Online.
Makes you travel from city to city with your personal dolyak carrying goods that you bought in the city where you departed. Selling them in other cities for a higher price.
More profit depending on the distance between the cities.
One had the wings? yet you backitems don’t show up in the JP, what do you exactly mean?
I have only had trouble with invisible snowballs in the first 2 weeks.
The gingerbread bug is still annoying though, hopefully they will be able to fix it.
Also make it possible to tie balloons to monsters to extract them and recruit them as your staff.
To be honest, I think your idea is pretty good, I never can be bothered to enter my home instance everyday. But adding more incentive to go there might be a better solution.
I dont understand the “I am being forced to do something” line thats seems to be common in complaints on this forum.
In an MMO you are NOT forced to do anything.
There seems to be a mentality that if I want XXX and I am required to do YYY to get it then I am forced to do YYY.
Not everyone can have everything, unless you are prepared to meet all the criteria needed to get everything.
In all reward based MMOs , in order to get a reward of some type you will be required to do something to get it.
But you are not being forced too, as getting the reward isnt mandatory.I hate these lines of arguments…
“The reward isn’t mandatory” …. but the “reward” is the whole freaking point of gaming…
I mean you don’t play games for no rewards… You play for the reward of accomplishing virtual goals… Unless you honestly are saying you play games for… nothing? People usually do things because they are rewarding in some way. It’s a basic psychological principle.
I would like to play the game for fun and not for rewards.
Wouldn’t it be better if you enjoyed the gameplay so much that the rewards are just a bonus? I have played games like that.
The negative side of the psychological principle you talk about is justifying boring gameplay by adding a shiny reward at the end.
I don’t think this is a great idea, but I’m still gonna defend some points.
Those puzzles you talk of, which exactly? All jumping puzzles can already be cheesed with mesmers/portal guns. And they could add some challenge mode to JP’s, like adventures in HoT, leaderboard etc. Just removes all your skills and the ability to glide. Have the free-mode allow anything.
Since you didn’t really give any example of any fight that would be negatively influenced by gliding in core tyria, I can’t think of any either. None of the worldbosses atleast. Gliding after using the jumping pad at Tequatl does sound fun.
I do think it would take some effort to implement it, but it could make core Tyria more interesting.
get it straight.
The only enjoyment this person has is the rewards, everything about the rewards.
Nothing about the gameplay, all about the rewards.
All about making money, nothing about gameplay
Rewards is all we want, no gameplay
Mail us stuff, don’t add new content
We want rewards for this is what we play for, screw gameplay.
REWARDSSSSS.

I played for 2 months. I’m an avid MMO player (not just wow). Leveled 2 tools to 80. I enjoyed some things about gw2:
HoT’s maps represent a significant departure from the core game’s content, and because these departures were so poorly communicated to the community, it caught many who loved the core game off guard.
Waiiiiiiiiiiiiit, hold on. Live stream, login articles, gaming websites, map chat, forums, reddit, beta weekends, and more all talked about the radically departure HoT was from Central Tyria BEFORE the game came out and people celebrated the changes o.O. It was communicated extremely well, imo. The only way someone didn’t know about most of the upcoming changes was if they avoided detailed news about HoT.
So they had all that info and communicated extremely well and still delivered some sub-par expac that a big part of the community doesn’t like. Many already took a break.
That makes me worried, since apparently no amount of extremely well communication is enough.
Might sound nice for PvP, but completely useless in PvE.
Gonna camp here, to set up my shot that does the same dmg as 2 AA’s from other classes! LFG ads : No rifle thief.
Except I often get into full maps so there are a lot of people who do find them enjoyable.
Just because they are full doesn’t mean people are enjoying them.
There is XP to grind and Map specific currency for collections.
Most players play for rewards, not for gameplay.
Wintersday puzzle must be the most fun content atm, since its full all the time.
Now lets do a 180, people might join organized maps because they don’t wanna waste more time on those maps due to events failing.
Mesmer also depends on illusions and shattering them periodically to attain high dps.
Without them your dps is sub-par.
Nah. Not needed. The last thing this game needs is people running pure power builds and running around nuking things. Additionally, if you cant figure out what sort of set to use for a character, even accounting for the fact that you can run a mix of pieces to get the stat combo you want.
How would we nuke things? The max possible dps with pure power builds would still be lower than the crit on a berserker build.
And I don’t understand what you said in the last sentence, because the structure of the sentence hints to a conclusion that you never gave.
Thats all nice and dandy, but I think thats only a part of the problem.
The design of the map is ofcourse another, but even before that WvW never really enticed me.
Simply because it’s not rewarding enough. There need to be BIG rewards for the winning side. Losing or winning, conquering a keep just so you can have it for 1-2hrs as a tactical rally point, the grand scheme of things is just so meaningless.
When you win there need to be a server-wide celebration because people are so happy about their benefits that this victory has brought them. A much stronger sense of competition will be created and thats when you will try to overcome hardships with your community and actually create server pride.
Well, maybe we first should agree or disagree on having a premium sub or not.
And if you already entirely disagree, would there be a way to make you agree?
Incase we would have enough people interested in this suggestion we could discusse which kind of advantages would be healthy to provide such a premium subscription.
Breakbars
Best: Easier for new players to understand.
Worst: Oversimplified CC mechanics into spamming CCs at the right moment.
Elite Specs
Best: Same as Wondrouswall
Worst: Unfair distribution of development resources across the classes.
Masteries
Best: Gliding
Worst: Similair to Wondrouswall again, some masteries are quite useless. Take for example the Exalted gathering, solely implemented to get 1 material for your elite spec collection.
Raids
Best: ??
Worst: Getting 10 players together.
I would like that, take for example the school uniforms of class 0 in Final Fantasy Type-0.
I would look at my own Icon
and be like: “dang son, did I really spend that much on this game?!”
Give us a premium subscription then with lots of quality of life benefits.
Like every month the choice of one of the new costumes released.
One free black lion skin per month.
Unlimited gathering tools for every character.
Max bank tabs
Max bag slots
Unlimited reskinning/hairstyling
Increased limit of ascended crafting per day would really attract players. (2muchpay2win?, though it something more specific)
Increased limit of raid rewards per week
Unlimited Banker/Merchant/TP spawning
Join any megaserver you want, premium slots !
Okay I think I’m just dreaming
That instability is one of the reasons I haven’t done fractals in awhile,
I don’t wanna have to deal with such cheap mechanics.
I don’t think stunbreaks and condi cleansing is something new, bringing certain utilities to a fight isn’t new either. Preserving skills for the right moment, we’ve been doing that! You talk as if nobody pays attention to what utilities they run for each fight.
Personally I do like the fight of Anomaly though, but that instability must go.
It’s true that once you have acquired that highest tier gear (ascended)
You can’t improve your character statwise. (except for some infusions)
Everything after that is all about debatably looking pretty and more unique than others by obtaining rare skins and dyes.
For some it’s a turn-off when there isn’t a clear carrot to chase, but no vertical gear progression can also be appealing to people. It doesn’t make old content obsolete either and .. I was gonna say gear can’t carry you, but that’s not entirely true.
Basically improving your character is improving your skills with that certain class.
And yes there is dungeons and raids.
True, leveling by just killing things is slow, leveling by killing things with all available boosters and killing the untouched mobs with bonus XP is quick. Theres a reason CoF p1 XP farm exists, not because its slow
On a sidenote…
The argument that you’d have to open your wallet to buy Gem Store items and this being the only way to do it is invalid. One can do custom gold/gem exchanges.
“Custom” yet the rates arent decided by Players.
I cant sell my gems for 50s or put up a buy offer of 5c.
Kinda annoys me.
Nitpicking: the JP isn’t the same every year.
Remember that we originally had to deliver a present?
You still see a dead adventurer with such a present in the last part of the JP.
You could also interact with Tixx at the bonfire before the exploding presents to get a checkpoint.
We had to wait till everyone died or finished, before we could go again, and we could throw snowballs while waiting.
the best option is speedrun trough the HoT story on alts, if you have then. It takes around of ~1:30 hours to 2:00 hours. Free chooseable piece of leystone armor at end, plus all the rewards you get trough the chapters.
Thats kinda what I did to get a full exotic Viper set.
You are so cool and calm and all the things that we are not. Congrats!!!
When I was doing the robot run, I mean JP puzzle, 15 times in a row I really felt like a freaking machine. I was going into a trance! It requires little attention, but you are pressing spacebar every second. I can only do it for 1hr, after that I need a break.
In other games I could kill monsters for 8hrs straight, but this… pretty exhausting.
I don’t think thats really unique, D/D Necro and Shiro/Mallyx Revenant fall in the same category to me.
Said that, some strong debuffing type of elite spec would be good for thief so we can contribute to parties. They would have to be unique debuffs instead of vulnerability and weakness.
Hello everyone,
I’m sorry if this has been brought up before, but I will do it again!
As you might know, outfits are actually made out of two pieces instead of one piece.
You can toggle off the headpiece, which means the headpiece and the rest of the outfit are actually two pieces.
What I really would love to see is to make these headpieces available for regular armor.
That way we can mix & match em with our other armor. It would add alot of new options. I think it isn’t outside of the realm of possibilities from a technical standpoint, but I am no expert. It seems quite simple.
You could add the headpiece to your wardrobe when you purchase the outfit.
Or sell them seperately.
I haven’t asked every single Gw2 player what they think about this, but I don’t see any reason to be against it. Except maybe some clipping issues, but thats nothing scary.
We can perfectly decide ourselves wether we like that or not.
Please make it happen!
I would really love to see something like this happen too.
I usually wear a specific outfit when I’m not fighting and I would be sad if I couldn’t see
the effect of these cosmetic items that were so tedious to get.
I agree, that it would be nicer to have more ingame obtainable skins.
I think it would also be for the better design wise, if full sets weren’t released.
Alot of skins look as if the designer thought: “oh, this weapon type, dang how am I gonna fit this theme with this weapon!” And the result is lower quality skins for some weapon types.
On the succesful business topic: What criteria defines a succesful business?
When I look for it on google, I find some aspects that Anet failed to deliver.
If all they want is to make profit, no matter the methods, customers will get fed up.
And eventually move to a competitor. The passed months Anet has been following this trend and it might not be that clear due to the sub-par MMO’s that have been released this year, but some good ones are on their way.
Doubt it, expectect TP flippers to play into it.
I agree with that logic.
Just because they did it before (followed by many complaints of the community) doesn’t justify it when they do it again.
If you have the time, listen to the first 2:25 minutes of this video.
Even though it’s not about Guildwars 2, you could keep the thought in mind.
Because I think the youtuber really describes my worries well in those 2:25 minutes.

You sure have faith in this game.
And somehow you are certain that we’ll get the chance Next year, even though no GM said so.
I grabbed the gifts at the gift tree and then I changed into an enchanted snowball and glided around in Verdant Brink. After 1hr I had 50k drinks and also a Legendary precursor dropped from a Skritt.
I can see myself getting the shoulder skin if I do this for 20 days. Even while not playing Gw2. PS I like these kind of exclusive items that require huge time investments.
It makes em so special.
It is, but you know how it goes!
Anyway you are kinda late to the party, people already complained about it months ago :x
Sell your gifts and buy drinks.
A way around ^^
(you lose some money)
If the PvP reward track is the most profitable method, its kinda hilarious.
Nothing against the pvp reward track, but it isn’t even a Wintersday activity.
True, for the first time in 3 years I tried to get 3 wins in the PvP activity.
But I am kinda discouraged due to the 10k requirement right now.
Doesn’t seem feasible unless I invest all my free-time, but the game doesn’t deserve that.
Agreed!!
It would be nice if it was removed.
The wait times between rounds should be shortened too.
The Choir bell that is a consumable has more notes and octaves anyways!
Hello everyone!
I was playing some other game, Destiny this time, since the latest DLC was on sale not too long ago.
I did all the stories to get my new Subclasses and I was very impressed the way they introduced them.
Before that I also got all the new elite specs in Gw2 on every class and I wasn’t impressed.
All we do is commune with some Hero Points in (possibly) the jungle and we can suddenly use new weapons and skills. No story behind it whatsoever.
I think Anet really missed a good opportunity to introduce these new elite specs with a good story, where you gotta go on a journey in search for secret techniques or a legendary NPC from the old days that will teach you about your elite spec.
Add some specific goals that you gotta complete with your elite spec too.
And also a good reason to why it was such a good idea to start learning about this new thing.
Make the player feel powerful and special once he/she has obtained his/her new elite spec with some pretty cutscene.
All-in-all, I hope Anet will consider to add some lore behind the elite specs and rethink the introduction of them.

It’s a shame that people think this gem store is so bad. Cause you know, it’s really not.
It’s eating away the content, with huge chunks.
It is bad for the game, because it brings absolutely NO value to gaming experience.Different people work on the gem store stuff. The people who make content, bug fix etc have nothing to do with what is made for the gem store. So I really don’t see how it is eating in to content.
In a sense it does, instead of releasing it in the Gem store, they could make it obtainable by just playing the game.
Yes, the high damage skill could also be split in two parts.
First a warning shot/weaker shot followed by a big hitter, room for counterplay right there.
I doubt it, seeing as the next balance patch will be end of January.
By then I’ll be playing some other MMO till Dark Souls 3 comes in March.
Taking breaks from Gw2 isn’t something new to me though.
And don’t consider Anet as that little child that doesn’t like to eat veggies.
Oh they ate 2 veggies!! Big party !!
Just a bit too late because everyone has left the table already.
Are these all the balance changes for tomorrow?
or was I being creative?!
