I also got bored with doing all the hearts etc. so this is what I did when I was levelling my newest Asura -

Starting in Metrica (around level 20 or so) I decided I wanted to go to Wayfarers Foothills as I’d not been there. Instead of just hopping the City portals to Hoelbrak and out, I ran there. Along the way I’d grab waypoints/vistas/skill points as I felt like it. Any event I came along I’d do (sometimes going out of my way if I saw one I wanted to hit).

For me this made exploration a bit more fun, unlocked waypoints and skill points across the world, and boosted my levels. Then at level 30 or so I usually hit a few dungeons, catch up on some story and carry on with higher level maps.

So pick a starting location, then pick a destination that can be reached through level appropriate maps and run there (preferably taking the scenic route). Also as you’re level 34 you can do Ascalonian Catacombs Story mode (the first dungeon). This will give you around 3/4 of a level of XP upon completion.

I tried that once with a low level (around 15 or so) running through a lvl 50 area…bad idea…LMAO
Got downed faster then you can say ’ kitten " XD

Crafting is not hard at all!! In fact, it helps you raise your levels a bit. You might consider using a guide to get to 400 craft level (gains you about 7 player levels if I recall correctly)

yes, exploring can be boring..but neccessary for different reasons (not all applicable to all players ). It makes you grow in level easily and fast. All hearts, poi, wp and vista’s provide you with XP. Also, harvesting, cutting and mining along the way not only grants some XP, but also provides you with materials needed for crafting (hey..the circle is round again )

There was another player who passed away last year and a similar thread was created. I suggested this then and suggest it again now.

I think it would be really great if Anet could somehow create an adventurer’s cemetery, something like the big one in Divinity’s Reach or the gully of cairns in Hoelbrak. Or perhaps in the upcoming Guild halls update, a memorial could be created so that players would remember those who have passed away IRL.

SO MUCH THIS!!!! <3 :’)

Hi there. I am Kogasa, Kogasa Tatara, Tatara Kogasa, and Kyouko Kasodani, Thief, Engineer, Ranger, and Warrior, in that order. This account runs on NA, Sorrow’s Furnace, but obviously with megaserver nothing matters that much really. I already run people through AC Story and P1/P3 on daily basis (Whenever I have time, really.), so I have some experience teaching not-completely-newbies on how to play. I am more than happy to help out newbies, showing them the rope in all types of format, however! My timezone’s West Coast (PST), in case that matters for anyone. I currently have a lot of time, though that may chance anytime, but… Well, ring me up! If I am around, I’ll try my best to help you.

The best thing you can do, if you need to reach me, is to send an in-game mail and add me to your friend list (Press Y, type in Kogasa). When I see the mail, I’ll add you back immediately.

Even Megaserver cannot bring NA and EU together mate..sorry…wish it could

I am on EU server, Seafarers rest

edit:
It made me think..we have Commander tags right? Why not create something similar like “coach” tags? (bandanna for example) This way new players can find players who are dedicated to help new ones out
Of course, we have a very helpful community, but you do not Always have the opportunity to help out..a “coach” tag could show you are available for help

Idea?

There is an completion achievement which you can reach for exploring all of the areas present…this is however a different completion then the world completion.

[Suggestion] Finish totally dead players.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: metaldude.4132

metaldude.4132

Easiest thing for A-Net to do is make “totally” dead players not count. Once someone is res’d, then they are added back into the mix.

I think too this might be the most smart suggestion. Dead people should be turned into “non existing” for the specific area of the map they are laying in. Only problem is that a dead player is still an object code wise..dunno how to solve this, probably with some “if” statement on player status ?

Lvling with exp boosters?

At level 50+ Dredgehaunt cliffs are great for killing yellow mobs. You can really run
a big circle around the zone where you constantly have spots with dolyaks, moas
and other yellow mobs, and when you have completed the route the first mobs
again have nearly full bonus exp.

With 100% birthday booster, killstreak booster and food i make around 4 levels there
per hour i think.

They are back to full XP bonus that fast? Show me the route pleaze?

Completing is neccessary if you intend to craft a Legendary weapon. Depending on how much you want to craft, I’d say you need more completion. If you don’t planning on craft a Legendary at all..why bother?

What is the point of rallying?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: metaldude.4132

metaldude.4132

Trying to rally while solo and under fire is pretty much a fruitless endeavor, unless your foe is within an inch of his life too and you manage to pull off last second kill.

I can relate. When I was trying to rally in that mission, with the boss constantly interrupting me, Rox yelled, “try using this…” and threw the Sacred Flame right on top of me. Meanwhile Braham yells “Boooooss!” and casts his protection bubble all the way on the other side of the area. Thanks guys, that really helped. :-P Get your behinds down here and rally me, you fools!

“Cuz I suck at it..really..I do… I can be overrun by a player controlled Dolyak. "

It made me think and therefore post this request. Which patient soul is willing to guide me throught the concepts of playing PvP?
And I mean:
- Build for guardian (which I am planning to use) and its use
- Strategies
- gear setup
-etc.

I am a active learner (meaning i do not remember theory very well but need to repeat actions myself over and over to learn). Maybe first start with one on one maybe ?

A hint..if you have these boosters, go and kill the so-called “yellow” mobs. Especially in not common places. They give an exp boost you wont believe! I level the most with those and they give as much as triple or sixtuple the times of the base XP as a bonus (i.e. a normal XP of 200 gives an extra amount of 600 – 1200)

Double Standards in WvW

in WvW

Posted by: metaldude.4132

metaldude.4132

Actually last week I had the opposite of a double standard as describe above..
I was with a new character getting the Obsidian JP at level 40 or smt. Upon entering, I got blasted immediately by a enemy player.
Imagine my big surprise receiving a whisper when I was trying to get up from downed state again, stating "sorry dude..didnt see you were upscaled that much ? What is a low level doing here? "

I replied that I was gonna try the JP and he guided me instead of making my life miserable at the end.

So, a double standard can be positive..instead of staying in role and kill the enemy, understand the purpose of being somewhere from a player’s perspective andhelp out.

Playing with other players in a group demands some basic understanding and willingness to step away from your regular play style and build and change your armor/weapons/skills for the greater good of the group you are playing with. But if you like solo playing, do whatever feels right!

Sorry, but what a load of bull…

He can play whatever he likes, wherever he likes with people that want to do the same!
He doesn’t have to change anything for the “greater good”.

It might take a bit longer, that’s all…

Exactly true and my opinion too…but! Reality IS however that lots of parties set requirements for running dungeons/fractals…whether you agree or not

And about being bull..if you read all of my post, I stated that he, in fact SHOULD play as he likes..no need to give in on prerequisities other players demand..its a free Tyria…ish

Meta’s are there for a reason..to inform players from an baseline experience. But my second paragraph (and also my opinion in this) is to choose your own path.
Reality however is that in group events, you are always requested a certain gear and skill set to have the most group efficiency; which is utterly BS, cuz player experience and skills are even if not more important…whats the use of Sword/Focus and Staff if you do not know how to use it hahaha
