IIRC the original idea was that there would be a rotating series of WvW maps but anet couldn’t implement it in time. hopefully its something they’re still looking at for the future.
We are all over 25 years old, so a mature community is preferred.
Yak’s Bend. We might have a silly name but the community is, on the whole, mature. I originally joined YB because it was being talked about as the unofficial server for older players. One of the biggest guilds on YB is The Older Gamers (TOG), who require members to be over 25 years.

And to the OP seriously Yaks Bend has a very good mature community where everyone strives to create an enjoyable playable atmosphere.
I think FA original players will have mixed feelings about this in the coming weeks as their weekend queues will essentially lock out a lot of people but I guess that’s the sacrifice required if you want to be top tier which they will be very soon if they retain these huge numbers.
Yep I know a lot of original SOR players got very annoyed at what happened with their transfers in.
Anyway I’ll be positive this has been a very good competitive week with FA in particular showing us how to use siege better. There have some fantastic battles particularly the last 2 days with the YB assault on SM and even last night Oz time with the battle at the supply camp south of the bay keep.
Again, no one has been able to show these mystical transfers, sure we may have had a few people come to FA but no where near enough to go from losing 100k points in 2 days to constantly holding a 200+ point lead.
Yeah well that forum post is from someone on FA and from your opponents POV numbers have definitely increased significantly since about Tues Oz time.
Culling cannot be fixed with the current game engine.
Was culling there at launch? Because I don’t remember seeing it until a patch. Not in sPVP or WvW.

If culling is related to rendering large numbers of players how can it happen in sPVP with only 16? Why did it only start happening after release?

I’ll take a nerf to bunker builds IF they buff our damage to what it should be.
I’d rather see them fix the issues and bugs.
For one thing they need to fix the orbs ASAP. The game is clearly lacking the focus they provided and in mid to lower tiers is becoming much more a game of PvDoor. There’s really not much impetus to hold stuff apart perhaps form Stonemist.
It would be nice to get some communications from them on what they are doing.
I’d also find it really stupid if they are surprised by the popularity of WvW it was always going to be a popular choice for endgame,

Yaks needs to get more folks onto to the field. Or just get more. The early posts about population in this thread by FA folks reads very bizarrely. I was out today after noon, in ET and FA borderlands soloing camps, and we didn’t have more than 5 people in either of those maps. Finally after doing about 10 camps, ran into a few stragglers and we assaulted redbriar and held it for a bit before a FA zerg showed up to take it back.
This was the middle of the day not the middle of the night.
Middle of who’s day? We’ve acknowledged we have pop issues at different times hence the recruitment thread that Spetrix put up.
FA won the first night by 1000 points, for the first night 1000 is a fairly comfortable win.
If you think it was comfortable then you weren’t there.
Transfers are just numbers/coverage. And you seem to concede that numbers/coverage are what drives a matches outcome (i.e. “match being decided by transfers”). Should I be upset that server numbers/coverage going into a match decide the outcome?
No because thats a given going into the match.

No defeatist attitude here I’m itching to finish work and get back into it hopefully with a large Yaks force.
So Yaks amassed a 100k point lead in 48 hours due to superior strategy/play over the weekend, while on the other hand FA closing the gap by just 10k over 48 hours is purely the result of transfers and a large and growing population advantage…?

You don’t see why we would be annoyed at a match being decided by transfers in the middle of it?
That’s basically my point. I’m all for guilds moving servers to give them better coverage, but I really wish they would just move and not try to get a bunch of other people to move with them at the same time. This way the server gains a steady improvement in performance rather than a huge boost that leads to unbalanced matches for weeks.

There was no legitimate reason. It was a knee jerk reaction because of the forum outcry and done at a time when they had very few resources in class balancing and so could not do any sort of decent analysis of what should have been done.
Whats worse is that they continually fail to address it and give us any feedback on it. Its also annoying that they were prepared to make knee jerk huge balance changing nerfs then but refuse to role them back now when they have adopted a more considered approach.

I want to know who these mythical transfers are. I keep hearing we have a new Japanese guild (What tag? JPN has been with us for weeks) and we have Europeans coming in the next fortnight or so.
Maybe its hard to see from your side but up until yesterday Aust. time at a certain time every single day from our POV at least 90% of FA players seemed to log off. This was confirmed by all the comments at the beginning of the thread about FA having almost nil presence other than at NA prime time. Now all of a sudden you have massive numbers at that time that you had previously dropped off. Why has that occurred? NA players staying up later on election day? Why weren’t they doing that on the weekend?
Re; TOG – Maybe that was the case. We were watching the maps to see where you were moving and following you along from map to map. Maybe you were just going for whatever was easy to grab, maybe you were looking for us on maps that were already pretty much ghost towns.
We were actually looking for a fight, there were comments in TOG TS about finding your zerg so we actually had something to fight.
By the way, the only reason you lose stuff when you sleep is we stay up longer.
You may have last night Oz time but it hasn’t been the case for most of the week.

Re; the “infamous” TOG – why did you keep map hopping whenever our " huge zerg" of 12 [PRO] members and a couple pugs showed up? After 4 of our sub-80 players on arrow carts fended off more than 15 of you at Garrison water gate, you hit north outer gate of the east keep. We were actually hoping you didn’t come to us when we were hitting that west keep – you had the number superiority and we only had literally 12 of us to take that keep. You just left the map instead.
I could equally ask why the FA zerg hopped, when I was on last night Oz time we were going around taking uncontested towers even Stonemist. Your zerg then showed up but for a while it was like you were doing what you’re saying we are doing.
Sorry but for whatever reason FA numbers have massively increased in non NA prime time. Funny how the worm turns you were decrying us for saying that we hadn’t had a huge increase in numbers.

I could tell you what their message is. It’s have fun doing different things in our game.
But thats them imposing on us the way they want us to play, not letting the player get what s/he wants out of the game.
For those of you complaining about being in other time zones keep these things in mind.
- ANet as a company will always try to accommodate what they feel is the largest possible population of their players.
- If you are not a part of this population then you are in the minority.
- If you are asking for similar world changing events to occur for your own time zones, then you are essentially asking them to change the world around a minority of players.
Well as it stands, based on dev comments, those in an oceanic time zone are going to miss ALL these events or at least find it hard to do them. That quite frankly is ridiculous.
They should either do them in a different way so all can experience it, say via instancing, or rotate the times when these events are going to occur so every time zone gets a go. They could quite easily do it on a Saturday NA time that would make it much easier for oceanics to do.

But there is a grind. Anet were being disingenuous on that point. For top level gear we have to grind, not just for gear that is equal in stats but for actual ordinary exotic gear that has the best stats. There is a big difference between easily obtainable greens and normal exotics. This was not the impression I got from the pre game marketing.
Still they are getting miffed when they do not even know what will happen. Just like the Mad King Event, it could be nothing of merit. Pour water on whales? Pick up artifacts washed to shore? Would those things really be a dramatic impact on your game experience?
The devs stated that 1 time events are what stand out in a games history. Stories arise from them, unlike the content that is there for access 24/7. Its true, you remember the things are remarkable, and not repetitive.
You’re contradicting yourself, first you say it might be inconsequential despite being an event chain then you say they do these to stand out in the games history. But they are denying a large part of the games audience the chance to participate or at least making it very hard.
Whats more based on the comments these will always be at similar times therefore oceanic players will always miss out. That sucks and if you and others can’t understand why we are upset……………….
We run one-time events at the time where we have the highest concurrency.

However YB’s ranking in the previous weeks was:

Rank 16Then suddenly the next match it jumped up 5 ranks. You must realise your server slowly dropping in rankings for over a month then suddenly surging to beat servers 2 tiers above them is not due to a sudden improvement in tactics. It’s a population shift.
WvW is not balanced well enough that tactics can make that big a difference from match to match. It’s always sudden population changes, whether you notice it yourself or not.
It might help to address my whole post. I’m saying there are 3 major factors coming together at the 1 time:
1. YB being wiped by SOR and being put at least a level too low, hence we wiped those at that level and went back up 2 tiers;
2. Better organisation and tactics coming together in the last 3 or so weeks; and
3. Some transfers but not huge amounts.
3 weeks ago YB was ranked 15 and played Gates of Madness. Score was 101k to 58k.
2 weeks ago YB was ranked 16 and played Gate of Madness (again). Score this time was 552k vs 37k.
3 weeks ago we were up against SoR just as they got their big influx of players, both us and GOM got wiped. We got put down a level too low as a result of it. The statements from GOM were such that they had lost a lot of their guilds.
The next week YB was ranked 11 (and massive jump of +5 ranks).
Because we were a level too low and had a big victory as a result. You must have noticed that the rankings system is not great.
From what I understand over the last few weeks the four servers people have been stacking and bandwagoning were BG, SoR, SoS and Yak’s Bend (although from what I hear people are now leaving BG).
As I said above we’ve had some new players but its hardly massive, our queues haven’t blown out. And it is noticeable how much better the guilds are working together in the last few weeks.
Actually, WvW isn’t meant to be balanced combat. Sorry that I don’t have any quotes from the devs handy, but I’ve seen that tossed around here enough times to be certain of it. If things are getting nerfed for PvP, it’s for sPvP/tPvP, not WvW.
The Elementalist nerfs were definitely because of sPVP not WvW.

Its not hard to survive 1 arrow cart. I’m an ele and I can get off meteor show whilst under the fire from 1 arrow cart.
Please lets not have this thread descend into hacker complaints. Its not the fault of FA as a whole if they have some hackers. every server has hackers including YB.

Blueprints (cost silver) are necessary) as far as i’m aware. And i got only 48 badges (many because other events then wvw, like madking tower) from 120 wvw kills. Those badges are necessary for other thing like equipment (amulet exotic for instance).
You can farm or use gold to get exotics. Arrow carts cost 6 silver only (not much at level 80) or can be obtained also via badges and free by going into the jumping puzzles.
If every ‘big red enemy aoe circle’ on ground incidates a different arrow cart, it suggest the ememy has 20+ of them.
But it’s funny EACH AND EVERY of the suggestion to win this battle comes to same conclusion. Use Age of empire (for lack of better discription) equipment to kill enemy. Kinda lame that player skill is useless in wvw mostly.
Not useless at all, arrowcarts can be aoed from below. Your issues sounds like its a population issue related to free transfers and you’ve bizarrely decided to blame siege equipment.
Yes by all means lets remove all valid tactics so we’re left with just a 100v100 deathmatch.
But…5 v 30 fights and telling me its same population, I call total BS, come on. And to call that amazing team work is a bit silly as well. This is a numbers game. You got the numbers, dont try and say you are the server with the most amazing guilds or players is why your winning.
I agree that we have had something of an increase in pop but its not to a huge extent, which is borne out by Qs being relatively short, plus its clear that in the NA primetime we haven’t got more than FA. And it is noticeable how much better the YB guilds are working together each week.
Why does every innovative tactic that gets thought up have to be nerfed? It can be countered so get better at doing that.

Its also worth noting that the balance changes were made when they only had 1 person working on class balance. Which makes it even more mystifying why they aren’t willing to roll back some changes.
I dont like it. While I understand and agree with the reasons why you did it, it was always a thrilling and exciting moment to secure the orb for your server. I will miss them. You should have changed the orb bonus to something like the outmanned buff (more magic find, exp, more loot, more silver and so on) So even hacking them wouldnt have a big effect on the current matchup.
Yeah I agree with this. Pretty simple solution instead of removing them completely.
Well – they’re aware of the issue as it’s been attempted addressed in patches.
However, whether they’re making “good progress” I would question – as that remains to be seen. If anything that it’s not fixed (more) indicates its a problem deep in the game engine.
At 1 point the issue wasn’t there. They introduced culling to enable the game to run on lower end machines. As for it being addressed I’d actually argue its getting worse. Its worse now than it was when they first introduced it and this is after patches that were supposed to make it better.
because staff is way too dumb ? stupid casting time, stupid timers, awful dps which can be dodged more easily and you won’t be able to catch someone who is trying to flee with a staff not to mention you won’t be able to dodge as well
In air you can have virtually permanent swiftness, as for casting time what about churning earth, worst casting time of any ability in the game. Meteor shower and eruption have fairly high casting times but you can place them where you want so the trick is to get in space and cast them.
On evasive arcana I never seem to get anything happen when I dodge in air attunement. Is this a bug?
If you like being in a team then WvW. If you like 1v1 then sPvP. I like sPvP but love WvW so much so that I don’t sPvP much at all now.
