I think that every pre-event you complete leading into a boss chest should increase the number of guaranteed rare or better drops from the boss chest.

I frequently find myself being the guy who solos all of the SB pre-events while the fleshy mass camps in the swamp.

At the very least, make it so that standing in swamp water ruins their gear.

I picked 5000 based on 1000 per tool per base number of character slots (5). It was selected based on the idea that if you did not buy extra character slots, buying the account option would cost the same as buying one for each of your characters. Each extra character slot you buy would then essentially get the tool “for free”.

I’m not set on defending that price point, I’m just exposing my logic in selecting it for the initial argument.

They have also changed how “hard” is determined.
Right now, “hard” simply means “more agony”. It isn’t really harder, it just forces you to grind more and memorize the content.

They have indicated that they are revamping the challenge starting at level 30 so that the difficulty comes from both agony and some new metric.

They changed where “hard” starts, so you aren’t redoing anything. Levels 30-80 are gone, and new levels 30-50 are available. You’ve never done these levels 30-50 before so you are starting “hard” on day one.

Levels 30-80 were the last game. Now that the new game is here (new levels 30-50) your previous progress in the old game is no longer relevant.

I get it, ArenaNet screwed up with the way they handled Fractals in the past (just like how they handled Magic Find). They decided on a way to fix it, and that fix is not sitting well with you because your prestige is being removed. I spent a lot of time getting full MF suits for my farming toons, and the MF fix made that progress meaningless (I didn’t need extra sets of armor and I couldn’t even sell them). I didn’t complain though, because the new system was better.

Based on the explanations given so far, I’d say the new Fractal system is better as well. Enjoy the rewards of your expiring PRL today and get ready for an even better tomorrow.

In Wow I was glad multiple seasons as a Warrior. Was thinking of going warrior but I have no clue how they do in gw2

Warriors are OK for leveling solo, since they have heavy armor and deal a lot of damage. I actually found Elementalists to be pretty easy as well, since they can stance dance their way out of a lot of problems.

I’m still going to say that Rangers are the number one solo class.

CAVEAT: I’m talking PvE.

First time through, go with a Ranger. The pet tanks mobs for you so you don’t die very often.

Alternately, I found a heal-specced Guardian to be pretty invincible while leveling.

I like the idea of having Account Bound individual gathering tools (as it is right now), but I’d also like to see an Account-Wide gathering tool.

It would be available from your Achievement pane just like your Zenith skins and can be taken out and used by all characters on the account without the need to bank the tools back and forth. The cost would obviously need to be much higher, I’m thinking something like 5000 gems or more.

As a quick note, this is NOT inside trading. I wouldn’t say that insider trading doesn’t exist, but 99% of the time it’s speculation you’re seeing rather than insider trading. I can’t go into details, but we have plans for insider traders.

If they pulled Ascended Gear out of the game, compensation would be required because they would be resetting actual, meaningful progress (unlike with the Personal Reward Level reset, which is simply a renaming of a meaningless large number to a smaller but meaningful large number. No progress is being lost there because those numbers didn’t actually do anything. It has the exact same impact on the player as if they reset the “time played” stat, i.e. none).

It is beyond irritating when you are out leveling a character and your bags fill up. You take the time to maximize your potential profits by listing the junk you’ve collected and after about 10 items you get the dreaded “Error Attempting to Sell”.

I’m almost convinced it is part of a vast conspiracy to get us to vendor things instead of list them.

What I will suggest is that if they find out that you post about your cheating on a third party forum, and/or they find out through reports of other players that you have been cheating, they need not disclose that information to you, they can just terminate your account.

I’m fully in favor of harsh punishments for insider trading, I’m just pointing out that proving insider trading is practically impossible for ArenaNet since they only have access to what happens ingame, and insider trading ingame is indistinguishable from regular trading.

Now, if someone was bragging online about their insider trading deals and there was a conclusive way to link the braggart with their GW2 account, I fully advocate that you write a support ticket and link your evidence because, as I said, I’m fully in favor of harsh punishments.

If you want a legendary, consider all other precursors to be a means to your end. Sell it and use the money to fund your acquisition of the precursor you want.

But maybe Clark is right, in which case I’d expect an investigation of the accounts that bought more than 100k quartz during that period. Evidence of insider trading exists exclusively OUTSIDE the game, where ArenaNet has NO LEGAL ABILITY to investigate.

Its a lofty goal, but I see it as maybe less achievable than using punitive action as a deterrence.

Stopping the leaks is within ArenaNet’s authority, as companies are fully able to spy on their employees. The leaks are obviously happening in violation of someone’s confidentiality agreement, thus ArenaNet has both the ability to spy and find out, plus the legal authority to punish by firing.

Trying to help people find a champ train, or any kind of organizing in map chat will always get you suppressed.

Trying to mail food and potions to your dungeon group will also get you suppressed.

Varying the message does not appear to have any impact. From my experience it is based exclusively on number of messages in some kind of rolling time window.

Ranger is my primary and my favorite toon . I think ranger gets a bad rap a lot of the time. It’s ok to disagree. You clearly don’t like them or their pets that’s fine. I hear everyone rave about W’s. My W was the first toon i rolled. I like my W, but they feel flat and one dimentional to me. That is ok, different strokes for different folks.

I’ve never had any problems with my pets. They are sturdy and hold aggro. They can take a beating even against strong bosses. Plus very useful if you are in a downed state. I have no idea what bugs you are talking about. Care to elaborate?

The biggest problems are:

1. They can’t hit moving targets. Bosses who stand still are OK, but any mobs that like to run or move around are basically invincible to the pet because the pet has to stop moving to start any attack, and by the time the attack finishes, the mob has moved out of range.

2. They frequently can’t hit “objects”. World bosses frequently are “objects” instead of mobs, and the pets simply run under them, then stand there spinning. Other objects likes portals or weapon racks etc. also have this problem.

3. They won’t flee from AoE.

4. F2 Lag. All those awesome F2 abilities are great, assuming you don’t actually need them when you press the button. Due to the fact ArenaNet won’t allow animation overlap or overrides, we have to wait for the pet to finish whatever they were doing before they will even consider listening to our commands.

Pets work great if you are trying to solo level because they do tend to hold agro pretty well and the pet rez is pretty OP, however, the bugs/problems listed above make rangers undesirable in a team setting, because 40% of their DPS is removed because the pets are not able to play.

If you “eat” them, they make your character and all other characters on your account slightly luckier.

They can be “crafted” into larger denominations for easier eating. You cannot gain or lose quantity by crafting them, it is simply a way to exchange 10 luck pennies for 1 luck dime.

I can totally understand if your a dungeon runner and want a more permanant type of stow pet function. However to say pets are broken is absurd. You think pets are a problem? Roll a mesmer see how you like clones. Up until they fixed minions they were a mess too.

I for real thought you were being sarcastic. Either you’re still joshing me here or you don’t have a ranger over level 5. Pets have so many bugs that they are essentially useless in anything other than the most basic boss fights (i.e., where the boss doesn’t move and isn’t an “object”).

You should read those posts in context they will attempt to make the exact same point which is that CURRENTLY levels 48 and 50 give you a better chance than 30 does now at weapons and good loot. In the FUTURE, you will get better rewards but I have said I DON’T kittenING CARE! We deserve compensation for our time spent in the CURRENT fotm for levels 30-50.

You just said you already got compensated in the form of better drops (which there actually is no evidence that suggests your drops are any better other than at the 10, 20, 30 tiers). Now you want extra compensation on top of those better drops in the form of a payment per level. Either your extra levels rewarded you with better drops and you deserve nothing, or your extra levels didn’t provide anything and thus were meaningless and now deserve nothing. There is no scenario here in which your extra levels deserve compensation when they are removed.

Accept fotm difficulty is exponential. there fore g will be exponential and destroy the economy what is 2^50 power. 80-30=50. If anyting I agree there should be a title fractal master or something for those who actually got to 80 or some amount.

I currently have 2 level 50 characters getting affected by the new fractal changes. They are not only set back 20 levels, but also leveling the second one is completely meaningless now that the fractal level is account bound.

I wonder if there are any plans to reward players for the lost levels, like for example a double daily chest until they catch up to their previous level? And maybe an ascended weapon chest with selectable stats per additional character leveled over 30?

If you lived in an apartment building and they changed your apartment number from 50 to 30AC would you complain that you “lost” 20 room numbers?

Levels over 30 didn’t give you any benefit, so you aren’t losing anything when they change your meaningless rank into a meaningful one.

What happens to infused ascended items ? Specifically, the ascended book backpieces , those take TONS of T6 mats to get them to ascended infused state, as above do we get all that stuff back ?

If we get our mats and relics back, then its not an issue, if we do not, then its a huge issue.

Once you’ve got a little jingle in your pocket, you can start gambling on the Trading Post.

Crafting is largely useless for money making, outside of some very specific places (like certain parts, completed items are almost never worth it).

Hold on to the recipe. I believe it has been stated that the Zephyr Sanctum will make a return at some point which would make acquiring the recipe inexpensive.

To make Celestial pants you have to buy the Celestial Insignia Recipe (which you have) AND you must buy the Celestial Pants Recipe (of whichever armor type you want to make). After you own both recipes, you can then make the parts and assemble them (but NOT on the discovery page, on the main crafting page).

P2W requires there to be competition (you can’t “win” at farming unless you can steal nodes). This is a pay for convenience item.

You cannot discover Celestial recipes (except maybe the Jewelcrafting?). You will need to buy the recipe from the Trading Post.

@ mtpelion I disagree with using karma to gear up…not since the changes made recently that have put a damper on my karma intake (mostly the major reduction of daily karma), and besides…a few silvers for green quality items is easy enough to come by (to buy a 50 silver item means you gotta go whack like 12 soft wood-yielding trees for lack of higher level stuff to grind…3 logs per tree and typically 1.5s-2s per log lately) but I really recomend green quality gear up to level 60 or 70 (75-ish definitely upgrade to rare/yellow for the home stretch)… but to reskin gear pre-80, map completion… especially the 6 main cities, if you can stand doing it..make several characters just to explore all those maps a few times… i think those areas always give 3 transmutation stones each, and while painful, the stash should build up quickly enough (no need to buy those). This should give a good base for getting to 80 but keep in mind you can not use anything level 80 as part of a transmutation with those, and you will need the more expensive ones (if you get the crystals, save em for when you are 80)… but have at those lower level resource nodes and use em for cash to buy those blindingly neon verdant weapons, brutal flame/bandit skins or some classically fashioned aureate skins…also take a look at all the cultural weapon vendors, some thing you can’t buy without karma (love me some vanguard weapon skins…“Tier 1” for skin and win)

The Karma nerf is a problem if you need Karma at level 80, which a new player does not. The OP should be fine using his Karma for gear while leveling as it isn’t that costly to do so and he won’t need large stockpiles of Karma until much later.

The leaderboard is a red herring. They completely redesigned the difficulty, content, and process for doing Fractals of 30+ which is why they are dropping people back down to that level.

It’s not inflation, it’s an exchange rate.

People buy gems with gold, which reducing the number of gems available for others to buy. This causes the price per gem to increase because there are now less gems available.

Buying gems with gold is a perk, you are supposed to buy them with real money in order to keep the game running since there is no subscription every month.

Also, as the rate climbs, it becomes more attractive to buy gems and convert them to gold which would slow/reverse the exchange rate growth.

You’re asking for time to be committed to developing and policing a redundant system of exchange.

The TP already does everything that is needed, which makes an additional trading system pointless.

I’m not saying the TP is flawless, I’m saying there is no need for your idea because it is already being done.

I’m level 38 now and am looking forward to buying my first “rare” weapon at 39, and I looked on the TP to preview what they look like. Since I am PVE only, I usually run in Berzerker-type gear. At level 39 these are called “Strong” weapons.

But sadly, the “Strong” rare sword, greatsword, etc look just like my “fine” quality level 20-something versions. I guess I just expected a change for a rarer version.

I’m still realtively new, but is there a way around this? Or do I jsut have to choose between “looks” and the stats that I want?

Until you are level 80, don’t worry about looks. You will be replacing your gear very fast so it just isn’t worth it to look nice. If you absolutely must look nice, use the transmutation stones that they dump all over you to change the appearance of your new items as you get them.

Of super importance: Don’t buy anything. At all.
Until you get to level 80 you should be using your Karma at the Gold Heart Vendors to keep your gear up to date. You don’t need rare items while leveling, so keep buying the greens from the heart guys as you complete them. This will keep you geared enough to complete all leveling content while saving you a fortune in gearing costs.
