Well trinity Apus are out but they dont really perform that well I’d wait for piledriver bulldozers to see if they will be able to compete with 3570k which I seriously doubt. So your best bet will very well be intel.
If nowadays only thing you play is GW I’d stick with the 3570k with old gpu anyday…. And when you have enough money you could easily upgrade your GPU with a new GTX or HD radeon ones. You wont notice much performance increase with phenom 2 tho in GW. Other than that a powerful GPU with phenom 2 would let you play any GPU intense games like Crysis and BF3… Just dont wait for a greate increase with the CPU bound games.

If you want to roll back to an older driver use driver sweeper or driver fusion apps to remove all existing graphic drivers and just install the driver you want to download like you do a fresh windows install.
Well obviously my pc is broken cause it dips 15fps on GW not on anything else in the market.. I’ll totally buy that.
Well id disagree with that Kalec the game is like a Microsoft PPT slide unless you have a beast pc like yourself and for me its as good as broken cuz i didnt pay that money to play the game like a slideshow
1st its the game thats kinda broken atm
2nd your cpu is a bit old thats also not helping in your case not saying you have a useless cpu and you gotta upgrade but you will have to live with it till it gets fixed and no one knows the ETA of that yet…
Im using Fx8120 with Radeon HD 6970 on a 970chipset and it dips to 15fps on intesive zergs on any settings take that as referance I’d say.

Those drivers came with the discs are outdated update as many of them you can starting with GPU & Sound ones they really impact on gameplays.
It wasnt lunch too early but yes there has been many issues and bugs but has anyone seen any MMOs released with absolutely no issues? Yeh I tought so, Now stop QQ and wait for the fixes Anet working on and make sure you checked out the kitten changes implemented with today’s patch.

changing from 560 to 660ti wont really much with the current state of the game i believe it will only let you go with higher AA kinda stuff for the the time being
Decreasing them all the way down helps you get considerable amount of frames? If it doesnt just dont even waste any time on playing around with them…
Have you also updated your BIOS? or even maybe VB?os (gpu bios)… Check them if they are the latest aswell.
Patience… its the key word here if you could atleast check some of the topics before creating your own you would clearly see there are people out there having the same issue with even better rigs so you will have to wait for Anet to do something about it
Trying to run Gw2 on an abacus dude what are you doing? Dude Stahp!
First of all some changes needs map change to actually have an effect did you really change map or reload the game after changing settings ?
Nope dont go with an APU for GW2 you will only regret doing so
If you have access to Sager or Eurocom laptops check them out they are essentially Alienwares without the ripoff parts afaik.
By any chance you have overclocked your GPU? If you did revert it to default settings will prolly solve it.
That my friend is a sign of a bottleneck, your cpu seems to be having a hard time feeding your Gpu…
I wonder if this is still valid since microsoft has released couple of updates spesifically for FX processors to enhance its performance ill give it a try and share the results if i dont get too lazy
for Nvidia series dont get anything less than a 560ti/660 or 660ti and for ati go for atleast 6950 7850ish cards

That hardware is old. Very old. Unlike those other games, GW2 isn’t a console port.
Unlike other games GW2 isnt optimized either…

You dont need to open up your case to do so… All you gotta do is to download a program named GPU-Z and check the link bandwith… if by any chance its on the wrong one you get in touch with the place you bought it and have them do re-install it for you.

How many pci-e slots on your mobo? Im suspecting it may be installed on the wrong one if your board is sli/cfx capable you might wanna check it with cpu-z or gpu-z… What you are looking for is PCI-E link bandwidth and its supposed to be 16x not anything less.
I don’t think that will make any difference in that range of cards to be honest.
Well its still worth eliminating…

Pretty sure a 3930k fall’s into the “Fancy Chips” category….
You are very well aware that a rig with your specs should decimate the game with atleast 100fps so why argue anyways? I’m pretty sure you get my point.

Aye that fluctuation is caused by those power saving things in BIOS. However disabling them does not help me gain any more fps… O/C’ing to 4/4.3 or higher will give you better performance if you can keep it cool but not much in WvW because the problem has nothing to do with the hardware…
It’s 100% hardware. Amd processors can’t cut the mustard with this game. End of story.
IN Before you call me a fanboi, because I’ve got already got 2 Amd rigs here.
Dude seriously have you ever seen somebody getting 60+fps in WvW Zergs using those fancy 3570K/3770K chips? I play other games without any problems with my Fx8120 platform…
Dude, yes. See sig.
So you are seriously comparing your 3930k to 8120/8150? yeh i see your point..

Have you tried doing a fresh windows install? These kinda stupid things may be causing by a very old windows installations. Before going into rage try basic troubleshooting and make sure the problem isnt in your end.. Besides how an installation disk would ensure you wont face the same thing when you are downloading new patches?
Are you deffly sure that your card is installed on correct PCI-E slot? Download CPU-Z or Gpu-Z to check it if PCI-E link is anything lower than 16x(such as 4x /8x) you installed it on the wrong slot…
1st of all your pc is not high end so it’s not supposed to run it maxed @60fps all the time however it still doesnt change the fact that the game is broken graphic-wise, wait for a fix cuz overclocking and kitten does not impact the performance as much as you might think it would. You will only end up damaging your laptop eventually. Also do you have that low fps in spesific areas like WvWvW & Group events or just solo pve? be more clear when you describe cuz it would help us help you.
AMD CPUs… this is a bit broad. Although, in general AMD CPUs are an economical choice. As such we inherently give up quality of gameplay to save money.
ArenaNet has stated they are constantly working to improve their engine’s performance. That is the likely response to this question which includes any budget CPU.
That said, I have read a number of users with AMD rigs that are playing just fine, albeit most are overclocked.
True but if I am using a processor that refuses to use 100% of its operating capacity on a game (it necks at 60%) then the game is not using it to its fullest potential.
Using CPU at 100% is a sign of bottleneck afaik It shouldnt use that much of a cpu at any game… Not even cpu bound ones.. However, the game engine should start using a bit more of the gpu it currently uses 30% of it on the high end cards which is unacceptable.
Amd Fx8120 @4,3ghz
Msi 6950TF II @6970 2gb version
8gb Corsair 1600mhz ram
Msi 970a-g46 Mobo
OCZ 128gb VT4 SSD
Seagate 1tb Storage drive
@1600*900 Resolution I get 60-90 Soloing with best appearance but 30ish on mid crowded WvWvW 15ish when zerging and this really bothers me… Im not even on 1080p… Updated all the hardware drivers / bios even clean installed win7/8 with the all updates no changes. Turning OC down does not help either… 12.6-12.7-12.8 (even the msi one) does not increase any higher than I already have. Im quite done playing the game as most of the players did till there is a patch to fix these GFX issues and the game starts using my hardware efficiently and correctly.
All the parts are looking good but some changes would make it better… As posters above me stated 660ti SLI would be a better choice and that powersupply will be enough. CPU is quite good one but are you really gonna overclock it? IF not dont go with the h100 because its just silly also you might wanna consider not getting a Kversion i7 because you wont use the unlocked multiplier. As for SSD Im using 128g Vertex 4 they are quite good but if you will stick to the Crucial get 256gb versions tho. As for the Sound card yeah that card is pretty good but do you really need it? As for gaming and daily music needs are satisfied with the onboard ones and I believe sabertooth has a quite good chip in it.
Id say start lowering the unnecessary settings like FXAA / Reflections and such to see if it makes difference. W?sh my gpu was fully utilized while playing lol im getting quite happy when I see 40-50%
For those switchable amd gpus there are quite useful custom drivers on the internet Id try them first to see if it helps a little bit. Game is still like under construction not even close to being optimized so before getting paranoid you should give it some time.
Also do you play any other sort of Mmo/fps anything online? How do they perform on your device? Tried lowering in-game detail settings to see if it makes any difference cuz 1080p GW2 is quite heavy for the 6770.
If I were you I would go with the manual installation all you gotta do is selecting proper device (radeon hd>7xxx ) then the OS type and you will be fine unless there is an hardware or any other sort of OS issue going on your device.
Worried, would this desktop be able to run GW2?

If you really wanna play GW2 with acceptable graphics never ever even thing about buying that pile of crap… Intel HD graphics will only let you watch hd videos and any other graphic load at that level but not gaming for sure unless you are happy with muddy looking choppy graphichs tho. You can build a better pc with a slightly higher budged just follow the deals of tech markets close to your location.
@ Guild Wars – Could you attach a DxDiag report to this thread so that I could better assist you with this question? I’d like to take a look at your system as a whole before I come to any final conclusions in regards to this issue.
really? seriously, really?
@OP I did the upgrade myself rejecting to wait for them to fix the game since my G73 died on me, as posters above stated the game is still under construction^_^ you may end up having poor performance out of your machine with this game and play 100fps BF3 /Crysis 2 etc there is nothing we can do about it but wait. So you can either wait or eff waiting put together a decent machine and enjoy GW2 when its optimized and in the meanwhile play other goodies you missed due to the your current machine’s inability to run them. Atleast thats what I’m doing most of the time since I built my machine.
Ps: If you choose to upgrade right away avoid the overkill or getting low end hardware you will regret later I mean dont put 400$Gpu on a 100$ Cpu or vice-versa balance your budget on each component and stick to intel if gw2 is the only/main thing you will run on your pc.

How being in India is an obstacle to update your windows? If you are concerned about its cost there are always other ways to obtain them if you know what i mean yeh its not the most ethic way to get it but they lack it in the first place. Besides your pc would handle the game with win7 just fine its the game itself causing you the fps problems and it will be fixed soon I hope.
