High End Gaming pc with FX8350. No I dont think so.
Upgrading is not the prettiest way to get updated to the most current OS. I’d recommend fresh installs. I’ve taken a quite a long brake and changed os in the meanwhile but when i came back to playing the game it was just not working as it should have. So i downloaded a fresh copy of Gw2 things are working better now. Getting a fresh windows and fresh copy of gw2 might help you a little bit.
Moving to less populated servers may be free but the other way around is just not working as you think. Everyone will go to upper tier servers and less populated ones are left to die.

Me re-downloading the game from the scratch helped to recover some frames tho. But it’s still lagging when the scene gets crowded compared before. And yeah I know you cant re-download every time they release a patch…

Been playing the game on and off since last year when i played the game last week with my Gtx 690 everything was pretty fluid but after I installed a 980ti things went pretty nasty. Dipping to mid-low 20s in WvW… All of a sudden it’s 2012. Trying to troubleshoot and see whether or not it’s my setup or the game. Started with the fresh OS & drivers(368.69 the latest one is pretty unstable imho) and now I’m downloading the game to eliminate bad files over the countless upgrades pushed over the last couple of months.

I wouldnt even bother. it will run but it wont look like it runs gw2
If you get a refund your account will be permanently closed, so make sure that
you really want that. And no .. you can’t reopen it .. and then close it again, just to reopen it later
and then close it .. and so on ..If it’s the prepurchase, but they have a “PAID” base game, yes, Anet has been refunding HoT and the account isn’t closed.
If it’s F2P, the account is closed and gone.
If it’s a brand new account with HoT, the account is closed and gone.
This sounds reasonable and fair. I doubt they close accounts that have been paid to access the the base game.
When i used w10 sli 780ti i had similar issues fps stuck at ~20ish so i rolled back to w8.1 using the latest drivers 355.60 it seems to work just fine with a single card. Cant try sli anymore since i sold one of my cards last week.
have you measured your hardware temps lately? The issue you are facing might be due to dried out thermal coumpounds.
my 3570k @4,6 was dying at mid-high settings @1080p as soon as i went with 5820k and all that jazz i can play plain ultra settings @1440p without worrying about spikes and dips. I only play WvW if that makes any difference. So unless you are going with X99 i wouldnt recommend you because overall it will make too much of a difference you would be better off waiting the next gen intel series and see what difference it makes in terms of performance.
The only problem with the SweetFx or any type of injectors is that they conflict with any type of recording/streaming type of things. Keep that in mind if you ever want to get it to streaming/game recording in the future.
Been using 4k for a year with r9 290CFX werent too good of an experience for GW2 tho. Sudden fps drops made stuttery and all so i went with a gsync 2k display and im having a better gaming experience overall.
I’m betting that your thermal grease under the gpu and cpu heatsinks have dried and need replacing. What you are facing is the signs of overheating and your hardware’s reaction to it to prevent itself from irreversable damage. If you think you cannot safely do it dont try yourself get help from local tech/repair stores. shouldnt cost too much.
Guys can you check that you are running latest drivers
Lastest drivers are not always the best, especially NVidia has a long history where
indeed the latest drivers were the cause of so many crashes.https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/GW2-crashes-my-comp/first#post5032771
try rolling back to this driver
337.88-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whqlNote: I am not tech support, so do so at your own risk, but I can’t really see a risk it’s simply an earlier driver.
However, it has worked for me so far. Also, turn off auto-updates in Geforce Experience.
if your using any driver higher than 285.79 the 560 is unstable usually related to desktop/firefox
has never been fixed and never will be issues start in the 314.22 drivers you may need to do a reformat if reverting does not help(ie you must have a clean install of the driver)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Game-Crashing-5680x1080/first#post5016595
The two latest drivers from NVIDIA are rushed and very buggy, apparently they wanted to optimize for GTA. GW2 is not the only game that has issues with those drivers.
Don’t use 350.12 and 347.88, revert to 347.52 (clean install).
Still gotta know whether or not they are using the latest drivers ^^ latest nvidia is working just fine for gw2 just fine by the way for 7xx and 9xx cards
Guys can you check that you are running latest drivers and bios versions for your mother boards? @unjust jake can you also check your 980ftw has a bios update aswell?
I’d also recommend you checking your thermal’s for cpu, gpu and motherboard VRM temps those might be telling us something.
Imho the decision to do or not is based on the money they will be having in return. Let’s say they spend like 100$ to make it happen, it should atleast make them 100$ extra moneh. Also it’s been almost 3 years since the game release would they bother doing something like that for a game that’s already aging? I dont think so. Batman was just an example to show you how hard it actually is and what happens when you do it wrong. I’m one of the many people in the forum who have been asking for the dx11 support since the gw2 beta. Im just saying demand was always been there it’s never met and will probably never be met for the gw2 atleast.
You could try frame limiting. Do you actually need to see more than 30 fps?
Seriously? 30? While playing a game you need as much as you possibly can have. it’s not a movie.
30 is like 1 frame per 0.033 of a second. You’re saying you’re going to make that much more difference with less than 0.033 of a second? xD
Also frame limiting is one of many ways to reduce heat. Upto op to decide though.
:) With that logic all the hardware on the market for competitive gamers is a lie? 0,033 of a second does make a difference. Besides im not critisizing your idea of limiting frames to reduce heat im critisizing limiting it to 30. He could limit it to 60, which is most probably his display’s refresh rate, so all the excess computing power that’s used to render anything above that point where he cant perceive is not turning heat.
But doesn’t Dx12 give you twice the frames per second to do the same exact stuff that Dx11 does but better? You should read up on how it gets better performance. My question is, what bottleneck of Dx12? Also, what difficulty to implement? Do you actually know? Not that it matters, as it’s a decision that ArenaNet needs to decide, or probably more their managers. But I will tell you this, there is a demand.
Yes there is a demand since the beta. This has been discussed in 32345656 other posts and turned out it’s too much work in other words too much money to spend on. So it was buried. Ever since the mantle came up people started to realise a better API would increase the performance and it should in theory but Anet still doesnt give a kitten about it. Im not expert on game coding but think of Batman Arkham Knight pc version. It’s atleast that hard to implement ^^ even huge companies like those can kitten. up that bad on porting games. So if I were you I wouldnt count on Anet’s decision making team to have better performace out of the game.
If they were to put to release gw2 for consoles they would have done it right after the releaese of new generation of consoles. I doubt they will bother pushing it to any other platforms other what they already support.

-It’s summer my friend, 70-75Celcius is quite normal for a graphics card. Get a can of compressed air and blow it to dust of it’s cooler and you will be fine. Also custom fan profile could help improve your thermals. You can manage it from msi afterburner.
Because I think that u just put the monitor cable in the wrong slot of your mainboard, so u are on your onboard-GPU atm, which is a “weak” HD Graphics 4600 and wont give your any more than 10fps with your settings I believe.
What makes you think that?
Ehm… your 7 FPS let me think that.. because that is the last Hardware-side problem I can think of.
But yeah.. since u said that other games are running fine, its seems to be a software bug.
Have u allready reinstalled the GPU driver, or upgraded to the latest?
Really this is what i think aswell. Where did you hook up your monitor? to the ports on the motherboard itself or directly to the GPU? My friend did that when he moved his pc to his living room and hooked it up to the hdmi port on the mobo simple solution ^^ use the directly the gpu.
I used 4k with CFX R9 290s for the last year and I ended up selling one of my gpu and monitor to get Rog Swift instead… 4k lags like kitten unless you get a killer panel which has a lightning fast response time Idk if there is one like i just mentioned. I’d go with IPS 2k gsync one from Acer instead of that panel you just mentioned. 1440p 144hz is far better than 4k 60hz believe me.
I suspect something in the little laptop is overheating. Check temps while that “weird” fps drops occur (with HW monitor ) post the screenshots showing max temps after atleast 15mins in game we will see whats going on in the device in terms of thermals.
If you want to blow your money on something then blow it in a deposit account and forget about it till the new chips come out. I went with Haswell-E and this was the most expensive upgrade I’ve done it since 1998 but it’s totally worth it.
Brand new rig, Worse performance. help :(?

Make sure your GPU is located in the slot next to your CPU.
This is the most common error.
This and make sure younare running latest bios on your mobo asus keeps rerolling 2 bios ever month
Noctua might not be the solution for this problem, as i said thats most probably the vrms of the mobo thats overheating. You should not compare other games to gw2 because its the most cpu intensive game ive seen. Also if your mobo lacks mosfet coolers on vrm section dont ever overclock it thinking you would be safe with a noctua cpu cooler you might end up setting your rig on fire and im not being sarcastic its for real.
Sir, Can i ask what PSU you are using to power that rig? Also some versions of that motherboard does not have heatsinks on the power delivery portion of it (VRM) so it will heat up like a hell. Im pretty sure its either of them limiting you.
Whats your mobo? Not all the amd boards are nvidia sli certified.
Thanks for replaying to me.
Was wondering because, GPU-z says that I do have 16x on pci-e since it says:
Pci-E 3.0 x16 @ x1 1.1Please, correct me if im wrong.
You sir have your gpu installed on a wrong pci-e slot. Correct slot would show @1.1 if only there was no graphical load on. Stick it the closest to the cpu you will know the difference in matter of seconds.
It supports DirectX 9 and later.
DirectX 10 and 11 or only 11?
No the game is Dx9.. It runs on dx9 does not take advantage of any higher versions.
a better graphics card can only excel if the software its rendering is coded good enough. So for the resolution you are playing at a gtx 460 seems to be enough given that you have a pretty good cpu with 4ghz out of box. So unless you go with a higher resolution or higher CPU clocks the gain in fps by adding a newer gpu (like 970) will make a minimalistic difference.
nope that’s not happening…
Are you able to get EUROCOM laptops delivered in UK? if so check their custom laptops, they offer pretty nice desktop replacement pcs with actual desktop processors and motherboards. if you lived in USA i’d say check Sager and Gigabyte’s offerings but since idk if you have access to those in your country i recommended Eurocom.
It’s the whole pc choking struggling not only the cpu. Only thing you could now is to save up some money to invest in a better platform like a decent i5. The one you are using is a single core 6 years old cpu, it can’t do much for this game given the 300-400$ CPUs are still struggling

Direct x 9, Dev’s need to stop being lazy and building games around this OLD as kitten API good lord arenanet.
Well go hop into your time machine and go back 7 years and tell them they are doing it all wrong.
I second this. Also while you are at it, tell them to bring a 64bit client aswell
They changed my name to "Nectar Shop.7438".

Red Queen is a character from Alice in Wonderland.
Truuuuuee Alice in Wonderland isn’t remotely suggestive.
Are you overclocking your hardware in anyway? If you do so, revert the overclock to default settings and try out.

I tried but no sadly didn’t see any difference there..
kitten I’m like the only one having better fps while on fullscreen (without CFX)
Also, Are you running the latest bios version for your mobo?

Erm can i ask if you tried running the game on Fullscreen mode and observed any difference? If you hadn’t please do and check whether or not it changes anything.
“=DirectX is up to date” as in you are using dx11 or you manually installed Directx 9.0c yourself?
What settings you are running the game on? If you are going with best appareance, that’s not happening.
You can install Dx 9.0c doesnt matter which dx version you have now. You might be missing some packs on it and that also causes a problem.
Have you guys tried to check whether or not you are running latest bios on your GPU and Mobo? Also reverting overclocks (aside from factory ones) might help.
I’m not sure why playing with the bios would be useful? I could be missing something but playing around with that isn’t something to be taken lightly.
I also am not overclocking my system, so nothing to revert there.Try using older amd drivers, like 14.9 or some betas. A lot of people have had problems with the omega drivers.
I’m actually using driver 14.301.1001.0. No Omega drivers here.
Keep throwing suggestions at me, please. I’m giving each a try at this point.
I am able to play with most of my settings up, except for Shaders. Setting Shaders to the lowest setting and running as an admin had fixed my problems up until logging on my engineer last night.
Because if there is any incompatibility between any of the hardwares you are sticking to mobo, updating the bios might resolve it. as for motherboard bios update its pretty straight forward. Gpu ones might get hairy if your vendor doesnt offer automated bios updates.
Indeed, I’m an eu player but my guild felt like moving over to NA and we all transferred there w/o problems. Doesn’t matter where you are physically.
For 1440p a single 970 would suffice. Also since the game is CPU bound you will utilize your gpus as much as your cpu allows it.
Have you guys tried to check whether or not you are running latest bios on your GPU and Mobo? Also reverting overclocks (aside from factory ones) might help.

Have you tried running the game in Fullscreen mode? You shouldnt be suffering that much unless you are in LA^_^. Also you are sure that you sticked the GPU in the full 16x slot right? and have an adequate psu to run the system?
