I wonder how many customers nVidia will loose just because of this kittened decision… Titan with 3gb Vram and bit lesser cuda cores… Very well done nVidia…
What I’d do in a situation like this
1. Check if the card is installed in the correct pci-e slot and works @x16
2. Motherboard bios update
3. Thermal issues (cpu heatsink might move during the installation)
4. Check pc power settings(might be downclocking things)
5. Different drivers or Fresh Windows installation and try 3 latest drivers(I re-install windows everytime I do a major upgrade to the system)
6. If still persists get gasoline and set it on fire :F
All games you guys have been stating are different games.. they use gpu and kitten when you are comparing this game to any other make sure they are mmo’s for the love of god it’s 2013 know the difference.
there were websites that were officially selling the legit game keys online I’d try those not sure which sites but I’m certain that there were quite a lot before the release
Anet would work together with amd and nvidia about this issue, I think it would help.
This has nothing to do with amd/nvidia this is purely at Anet’s end… Been months and still this pile of kitten.
why not dual channel?

A FX8350 should give u low 20’s in WvW if u set culling accordingly.
So high or highest on character limit and low on texture culling.I know this isnt the first hand experiance u want but im just getting this from my experiance on these forums
Thats what i get with my 8120 tho but it goes 13-15 when the opposing worlds decide to go for massive blob… that’s what im trying to figure out here tho

Yeah but that doesn’t really give me much idea im also getting frames in that interval tho

Hello guys I have been using o/c’ed Amd FX-8120 to 4.6ish since my Asus G-73 died on me. But I’m not really satisfied with the whole WvW experience even though it’s mostly caused by game’s poor optimization I even stopped playing for 4-5 months but since the March patch I came back and playing 3-4h WvW everyday. And I cannot enjoy the game with low fps and I dont really wanna play with green puppets around (the culling settings all the way down)
Now if you own a Vishera preferably Fx 6300/8320/8350 how is your WvW experience? And I’m asking to those who do not play with green puppet settings. I’d really appreciate your insight and if you have a gameplay video even pve is acceptable since it gives a certain amount of idea about the general performance.
Ps: Please state your cpu speed if you overclocked and ingame settings i know I’m asking too much just trying to figure out whether or not it will worth upgrading.
Inb4: Buy intel, Amd Sucks, Dont even consider upgrading
Be constructive and post if you really used any of the CPUs I specifically asked for
But imagine the multi-boxing potential.
While it is made up of many nodes and many CPU/GPU’s, it’s a single unit and doesn’t have multi-boxing potential at all. you would need to change many things on it and install a mass of VM’s. Not only that but supercomputers like these use lower clocked CPU’s with many cores/threads, and games, such as GW2 do not scale well over many cores and you are better off with fewer but far faster cores/threads. then we get into the GPU, which are nothing at all like desktop GPU’s which are meant for games and the like, the Tesla cards are meant for calculations of a different sort and fall hard on their face trying to render games, newer Tesla cards ($2-4k each) are about 3-4gen behind as far as playing games go, as that is not their goal. Tesla cards are about being stable and accurate in their computations, where desktop cards do not require this.
Technology isn’t that advanced yet… in 200 years we will be able to play it @60 cpnstant fps
The tech is without a doubt here now, the games are not. You look the highend FPS’s we have today, coded very well and have some outstanding gfx and able to get 100fps+ on current HW. Like it or not, most MMO’s do not fall into the well polished area as far as performance goes.
I’m well aware of that man but I was just mentioning the current status of the game… With the current coding the single core cpu processing power should be like 100x higher to play this smoothly on any type of situation And believe me nothing will be done anytime soon I said this in the Bwe / Release and repeating again they will only make the game look kittentier ant kittentier to provide couple more fps… There may be some fixes on the expansion release due to the obvious reasons.

IDE mode is as far as i know limits the speed of SSD but if your windows was installed with the IDE mode enabled you will need to change some things in registery or that kind of settings to make it boot when you changed AHCI mode or you will have to install windows with AHCI mode enabled. if you cant change it to work as ahc? you can always go back in bios to change it back to IDE
well don’t worry about it if you aren’t familiar with bios/uefi it’s a storage mode kinda thing which has 3 types(ahci/ide/raid) you can google it for more detailed information. if you are familiar with your bios you can check it under storage settings/integrated peripherals in your bios but I’d suggest not to mess with it if you are clueless you might end up in pile of kitten ^^

That mobo I wouldnt recommend to my arch enemy anything 970a-g46(including this) are basically kitten for 8cores FX processors due to low quality VRMs some basically explode check the VRM thingy in the link http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database so pick up a board with good vrm and low price according to this list if the price is your concern.
I had one of them and thing would go 100c with basic overclock(4ghz) so I learned from the hard way and had to upgrade to Fatality 990fx Pro and everything is fine now even with 4.8ghz (Fx-8120)
Ps: if you really are on a tight budged I’d suggest to go with 6300 to spare some money for a better board.
Ah I see, thanks a lot for the input. I have options to choose
Asus Motherboard P8H77-V LE [+ € 43,00]
Asus 1155 Sabertooth Z77 [+ € 196,00]
Asus 1155 Maximus V Extreme [+ € 356,00]instead. My budget is around 800 euros, so I don’t mind spending more for a better motherboard. Would the Asus Motherboard P8H77-V LE work?
@ SolarNova ah thank you. I’ll go with a better cooler then. ^^
Those motherboards you mention are all intel compatible not AMD the ones Solarnova wrote are quite good choices.
there is no mode such as SATA there is raid / Ahci and IDE so yeah Ahci mode is the one you should use unless your windows is installed in any other mode you might have bootu kitten ues if so…
Well im using my SSD as my OS and game drive I haven’t come across a problem that’s related to game being on it… Just make sure your SSD has the latest firmware installed on it (you can find it on manufacturer’s website) your SATA cables are not damaged and you are using the Sata 6Gbps slots on your mobo (supposedly you have at least one and drive is capable of running 6gbps)

+1 @llithis it’s probably the PCI-e slot or Mobo bios check both with cpu-z and make sure you are up to date and your 7970 is in the right slot.
Also check your power settings you may be limited by low power consumption settings.
Kinda too lazy to read all the posts so I’ll skip and put my two cents in
MY TFII 6950@6970 shader unlocked and overclocked card behaves the same, heats up like a pig on a treadmill on GW2 even though it’s not used 100% but it never goes beyond 72C no matter what game I play since I changed my case tho. So first thing I’d suggest is to make sure that you have good ventilation in your case you would wanna exhaust that hot air out of your case so make sure you have enough exhausting because non reference Graphics Cards will be exhausting all that heat inside your case. Plus did you clean the gpu and heat sink with alcohol just to make sure none of the old paste is left? If you applied new paste on the old one that will not work.
1st rig with 3770k if out of budget get 7970 with 3570k or wait for a bit for haswell the next gen intel processors. for k processors you need a good mobo to overclock if you ever will so z77 is also necessary.
dont use 3rd party programs such as MSI AFTERBURNER or EVGA PRECISION to monitor things their on screen layouts bug the game, if you arent already using those try updating latest drivers and bios for your mobo. Make sure your windows is up to date.

Game itself doesn’t really use much of GPU, just stresses CPU and for lower resolutions the stress you put on the CPU increases even further so APU doesn’t really have that much of a computing power so yeah you need higher resolution monitor and new platform with a real cpu.
ps: i7 and i5 has no difference in most games a good board with k series haswell i5 should suffice (presumably 4570k)
yeah only the loads time changes and if you have an older hdd that keeps tickling every time you turn around and stutters the game that wont happen. (I’m not talking about the stutter related to graphics engine)
for that price point I’d go for a custom pc instead of pre-made one.
the game uses at least 3 cores if I’m not mistaken and if yours isn’t try to check your pc’s power settings and the core parking that might improve performance

Well I don’t mean to be rude or anything but this game is meant to be played on a computer not on an abacus. OFC it would increase your fps by a certain amount but seriously you need a whole brand new pc to be honest.
There is no such thing as skill lag… It’s just our ISPs…
Nice Blob GH is running in EB atm cheers guys you made the game less fun for the rest of the night.
It’s not something new the game engine does not utilize the hardware properly only thing there is to do wait for them to fix it if they ever will.. In the mean time you can lower some settings and try to get used to the kittenty look of the game.
You can run but not really sure whether you can enjoy it or not.
I havent noticed any performance difference between 3570k and 3770k with exact same amount of overclock. I dont think you need to spend 2500 whatever your currency is. for i5 get 3570k instead you will be just fine.

Any spesific reason why you dont try out 13.5 beta?
Does the game even use gpu? Haven’t noticed that.
Definitely sounds like overheating… that cracking noise may be due to sudden electric interruption.
There’s no need for the GPU to boost if you’re limited by the CPU.
Yeah also this
This game has a tendancy to overheat the hardwares eventough its not using them 100% all the time. So I’m assuming your gpu does not boost because of the thermal reasons, If im not mistaken those boost is adjusted there is enough thermal room to push up further.
If it wasn’t behaving like that until recently yes its probably overheating and that vent cleaning and repasting is required… If overheating that fps limiting thing wont help much tho.
1st make sure you have installed the 7970 to the correct (16x) slot, then make a clean driver installation after you have uninstalled every single amd driver with driversweeper kinda tool then check make sure you are not limited by the pc power options you know they downclock cpu & gpu if set for that. Then try out again..
Also whats your mobo and cpu?
^- ’nuff said 7870xt/660ti
3770 can be overlocked but not with the ones with k.. you should still be able to change the FSB of the cpu to reach higher clock frequencies but you know its gonna require some of your precious time to set it right.
Should worth upgrading to a 8350 but the real question is what mobo you are using atm? If you are going to be overclocking the cpu the older gen AM3 ones, doesnt matter how great they are, are not capable of overclocking FX that well..
Game does not use all of your CPU cores/threads thats why it uses ~20% but that does not mean its not limited by the cpu… Laptop cpu’s are kinda weak than most low end desktop cpus thats probably why you get better FPS on your desktop eventough it has a “worse” gpu on it.

They are talking about 3rd party programs interfering with the gpu drivers or that sort of thing by any chance you have Virtu MVP or Gpu Tweak installed on your pc? And you can disable integrated gpu in bios and try if it intervenes somehow.
700series nvidia cards are being released and you bought a 250?
its full screen but your monitor is messing with the whole aspect ratio thing. There should be a setting in the monitor menu to fix that try out or change something closer to 720p besides lowering resolution wont give you too much performance increase cuz as resolution goes down strain the game puts on your cpu increases and the reason this game works like a pile of kitten cuz it renders everything with cpu not gpu.
World vs Lag vs Crash it’s their new marketing strategy
Constant 80fps in Guild Wars is merely not possible especially in big events and WvW..
That solved pretty much nothing for me…
In SFR it’s World vs Lag vs Crash we are playing not WvWvW
Yea i also have 6970 but the problems I have are due to the game being cpu bound..
