Awww yeah!!! I can’t wait to send one of my toons to Tarnished Coast for RP! Save me some space please!
Amazing! Truly amazing! I sure hope more musical instruments gets added in the game so YOU can make more of these covers!
I can only see this being implemented and acquirable through the Black Lion Chests. It would follow the same route as the perma-bank, perma-makeover kit, and other perma stuff.
I am one of those misguided adventurers. Curiousity is fatal for the curious cat. I stumbled upon this runic rock, and thought it was nice and pretty. There was no one around, no threat of any sorts, so I grabbed it. The cave troll came out of nowhere. I pleaded, tried to reason with him. To no avail, the troll wanted me for lunch.
Sadly, there was only one thing to do.
If the troll could have placed a note or a sign near his runic rock, I would have not dared touch his treasure. I would like to add a proposition to educate the maniacal beasts with reading comprehension, writing skills and social aptitude. If the troll would have said, “Hey, that’s mine. Please put it back to where it belongs mister,” then I would have obliged.
Education is a fading craft. Big or small. Smelly or noble. Education should be open for all. I propose that the Durmand Priory should host a workshop, or a mandatory schooling for all sentient beings in Tyria. And if any student gets unruly, the Vigil will be there to hand out punishments.
Oh god… OH GOD! MY BRAIN! Anyone has a time machine I can borrow?
OT, I love these new features. The open world is really the best thing Guildwars 2 has to offer. And with these rewards, achievements and activities for the community, it will make this game much much stronger.
And the Spectator mode in the horizon? Oh yes! I don’t have to PvP, but I sure would love to watch 1337 players duking it out!
First things first:
Bacon for Chefs. Seriously, why is there no Bacon?
You bring up a serious point…
Bacon Burger
Bacon Pizza
Fried Bacon
Mashed Potatoes with Bacon
Dare I say the ‘Krytan Baconator’!Food effect: Gives avatar heartburn during the food’s duration, decreasing energy recharge by 25%. However, it would also give you +100 power because its bacon =D
I hope they add a new gathering tool called “Skinning Knife” where you can cut meat from freshly killed game. The RNG drop of meat is ridiculous…
“Look! A deer. I will kill it for dinner tonight.”
/deerkilled
/deerlooted
“Oh darn it. It appears the meat had disappeared.”
Tab-targetting took the “Action” combat away. I really hope that they work something out to do away with tab-targetting or add a simple option to target the center screen. I often move my camera as if it was an FPS, aiming my camera to my target.
I would like them to scrap the Ascended Tier completely. Keep exotic armor as the highest tier. Regarding the agony mechanic fractals, have them create a consumable that would open a slot on a selected gear for infusions. This consumable can be crafted or acquired through drops.
An afterthought regarding my suggestion above. When (and IF) they implement the Ascended Chestpiece, leggings, gloves, boots, headpiece and shoulders, how would that affect runes? Now, it is entirely possible that Ascended gear would be gimped since they will have fixed runes that have Agony Resist.
Currently, the rings have fixed gem stats on it. I’m guessing that full gear would have a fixed rune stat on it, and it is likely that that rune would be Agony Resist. Now that brings us to the discussion of balance in regards to general PvE and WvW. Would having full Ascended gear with AR fixed runes be underpowered? Probably. It’s like equipping MF runes.

Yes yes yes! If there’s a thunderstorm, there’s a 0.0001 chance that you’ll get hit by lightning. And for your troubles, you’re rewarded a precursor.
On a serious note, I would love to see weather effects as you suggested. It would be a great tweak to the game. And if they do implement it, I would love to see weather specific events like herding cows to a safe spot from the storm, fight a twister that’s actually a wayward elemental, or help out clear a flooded basement by using a bucket.
Suggested Brawl Skills
1 – Punch
2 – Uppercut (Gives a 1 second stun)
3 – Flurry (Channeled attack)
4 – Block (Successful blocks gives 2 second stun on opponent)
5 – Backhand (Knockback)
6 – Leave Costume Brawl
Pretty much everything that has already been mentioned.
I recently tried MoP with the free 10 day trial.
Dear god…
I cannot go back to quest hubs anymore. I’ve finally seen the BIG BIG difference between quest hubs and dynamic events. In quest hubs, you’re limited to one area of the world, and you’re not free to explore areas without gimping yourself with XP. With Dynamic Events, you can go wherever you want to go. Granted there are hearts to level with, I sometimes ignore them and just gallivant about, helping other players with mobs, gathering mats, and of course do DEs and map completion/exploration.
WoW’s combat has become stale and boring. I try dodging some attacks, and I yell when my character doesn’t. And one thing I noticed, which I love GW2 for, is that in WoW you’re fixated at your mana/runes/energy, making sure that you have enough for your spells/skills. In GW2, you don’t stare at your mana/rune/energy. You can look at your character while you beat the living kitten out of your target.
Last night, I debated about getting MoP because my boyfriend is playing it (he didn’t like GW2 *sadface), but I resisted. Hopefully the updates come soon, or at least game changing so I can have my SO to play with me.
A rapscallion had called my wife a gigantic heifer with a beard and one eye. I will not tolerate such insults to my plump and beautiful wife! I’m a reasonable man so I won’t spill this fiend’s blood in the Flagon’s floor. It’s rather silly that I can’t fight this miscreant, but I open myself to fight with… gigantic red boxing gloves?
Fine! I will taunt this wretch to a duel. He accepts my duel and chose his arms with… a frying pan?
(You get the idea. I would love to see hand-to-hand combat for Town Clothes if no toy is equipped. Or if you don’t have any weapons equipped, your weapon skill bar changes to hand-to-hand costumer brawl skills. Since there are no duels, at least have one where costume brawl is a viable alternative without breaking immersion/roleplay. Implementing this feature could also lead to player created events where players duke it out hand-to-hand… Hand-to-hand, it is the basis of all combat. Only a FOOL would trust his life with a weapon… or a Legendary.)
Explore the game through an alt, even though I’ve done map completion on one character, which was rushed. I haven’t spoiled myself on jumping puzzle locations. I want to find those on my own.
Discover and create builds that are not the norm or standard. Find out which traits and skills match well with one another. Test it out.
In terms of new game modes, I’m not sure what ANet has planned. For the following suggestion, I had development of new maps in mind and the programming of CTF mechanics. That said, they could at least use the current maps for a CTF game mode.
Team flags will spawn to the capture point near the team’s waypoint. So you need to capture your opponent’s flag and bring it to your team’s capture point. This will net you 150 points if successful. To win the match, you need 600 points, so you need 4 caps to win.
That leaves the middle capture point. What do? If a team captures the mid point, they will yield 50 more points if they capture the enemy’s flag. The mid point also has an internal timer that makes it neutral if no player occupies it.
When taking a flag, all of your skill sets change (weapon, healing, utility, elite). You can throw the flag to pass, but you can only pass it by targetting the ground.
Thoughts?
+1
With the whole kerfuffle that is the Unbreakable Choir Bell incident, I sure hope that ANet would add musical instruments soon. They could sell the basic looking ones for those who just wants to play a tune. If they want to increase their revenue through RNG, add exotic musical instruments in the BL Chests.
So, for example, you can get an Acoustic Guitar through regular Gem purchase. But in the BL Chests, you have a chance to get an Asura Electric Guitar and melt some faces.
Post your IRL Profession skill set!
Weapon Skills
(Main Hand – Keyboard)
1 – Data Entry: Enter numbers, vendor invoices, customer invoices, payments, latest settlement regarding an audit. Increases productivity by each digit unless you did a typo, which reduces productivity by 500%.
2 – Alt+Tab: Stuns productivity by browsing the web. Stack to 30 that diminishes by 1 every 1 minute. Cooldown 1 second.
3 – Keyboard Smash: Knockback productivity if the statements aren’t matching and you have a deadline. Blame it on not sleeping well. Cooldown 86,400 seconds, or until keyboard is replaced.
(Off Hand – Mouse)
4 – Click: Click a lot to appear working hard and working faster, thus boosting productivity. Causes confusion on co-workers and boss. Cooldown 0.001 seconds.
5 – Scroll Wheel: Used to move spreadsheet up and down, but could also be used for web browsing. Increases or decreases productivity.
Heal Skill
6 – Drink Coffee: Grants Rejuvenation, but also causes Frenzy if Rejuvenation buff is not kept on. Cooldown 10 minutes for brewing your own coffee. Costs $5.00 for a Venti size if you decide to buy.
Utility Skill
7 – Spreadsheet Efficiency (Accountant skill set): Instant. Increases productivity by 50%, but also increases your bored-out-of–my–mind condition. Remains active until canceled by closing all the windows.
8 – Collection Call (Receivables skill set): Channeled; duration until getting hanged up by customer. Call target to get money off of them since their account is past due. Success would increase money in the company’s bank that would eventually flow to you minus federal tax minus state tax minus withholdings minus 401k minus health insurance deductions.
9 – Number Crunch (Mathematics skill set): Instant. Grants Quickness for 10 minutes. Stacks in duration with Rejuvenation boon.
Elite Skill
10 – Call in Sick: Instant. Places all of your Weapon skills and Utility skills in cooldown for 86,400 seconds.
Patch Notes:
Build 1.1: Changed “Drink Coffee” skill from Confusion to Frenzy. We feel that Frenzy is more of a n appropriate boon/condition.
Build 1.2: To balance productivity. Number Crunch now gains stacks with the Rejuvenation boon active.

Been playing for 4 months, and I’m still playing it. I agree with the combat, it is by far the best system I’ve played ever. And as an explorer, I’ve yet to explore and find the jumping puzzles in the world. Also, there are events that I have not seen before, which keeps this game interesting for me. And there are those events that I just love to repeat if it ever pops up.
It is awesome now… wait until they make it more awesome this year.
I actually made everything small in game (small skill bars, small mini-map, small chatbox), but it still feels “in the way”. I enjoy the scenery in this game, and when I do my adventuring, I like to take little screenshots here and there, but at times, some Jotun or Skelk comes by and ruin my photo-op.
Hopefully, down in the future, this will get implemented.
Plus One!
There are skins for fishing poles, but we can’t buy them yet and can’t fish either. Maybe when they revamp Southsun Cove?
Backpedaling: moving backwards and away from your target. Basically, holding “S”.
I rebound my WASD-movement. I only use “A” and “D” for my strafe, and I let go of my “W” for my weapon skill so I move with LMB+RMB. “S” is now bound as Dodge.
I’m not sure if this is efficient and if I’m gimping myself. As a Thief, I don’t need to backpedal since I spam dodge on my current build. But as a Mesmer, I feel that backpedaling is needed because of kiting. For my Mesmer, I try to move backwards in an angle by strafing and pointing my camera towards the target. It works sometimes, but it fails when I’m completely ganged up in PvE.
Anyone can advise on backpedaling in general? Is it useful in PvP, WvW or PvE?
What’s to love with this combat system? Moving while casting a channel skill without breaking it.
There are meta-events that serves as a FFA Raid. But that gets chaotic, and the spell animations turn the boss into a glittering mess. It would be great if they could turn it into an instance (ala story mode) so you can only have 25 people max instead of 100 or more. This would also prevent people from not getting loot by the end of the fight since the boss gets overcrowded.
I’m with you OP. I’m hungry for details… or even little teases. Colin did mention that there will be a new map in WvW come February. I’m not concerned with Feb though, I want to know what’s in store for us this month.
Hopefully we get a blog post tomorrow, if not, next week. They’re consistent at giving info by the 2nd week of the month.
No trinity… just no. Anyone who’s pro trinity should go somewhere else. ANet has learned a lot from their older dungeons by making Fractals.
Agree. I think interrupting self-heal or controlling regen boons would reward teamplay and penalize uncoordinated groups.
They could also add a boss where interrupting an ability is mandatory. Say an AoE damage that reduces everyone’s health to 10% and knocks down. It would get old eventually, but what if before the boss casts its massive AoE, the whole party is feared. That means, someone should have an interrupt and a stun-breaker slotted in their skills.
The trinity is and always will be a bad idea. There are only 2 skilled roles (tank and healer) and 3 people getting carried along with them. Every game that tries to implement a fourth support role just ends up never using it, since the Trinity is always superior to it.
It gets old only playing tank and healer if you actually want some semblance of a challenge (not that either role particularly provides one in most Trinity games, except maybe TERA). It’s nice finally having EVERY player in a party be challenged. It’s also fun to watch the people who are used to being carried in other MMOs and considered themselves “skilled” get steamrolled and then QQ about how “bad” the current system is.
And with ANet showing what they had learned through fractals, I foresee that great dungeons will be made without the blasted trinity. As what people had said previously, there are other games out there with that system.
Have them do self-heal like the Dredge final boss in Fractals. Yiu can interrupt the heal, granted that the Defiant condition is out. But this won’t apply to bosses who heals on add consumption.
Something like EVE’s biography where you can type in your “personal” story. I would love to read about some player’s story about their characters, granted if they put effort into it. There’s a possibility that some of the biographies would have “l337 THIEF L2P! QP 3000.”
I would like to add personal details and backstory to my character. It would be great to have a Tab in Hero where you can type in a biography of your character or a statement about your character.
With this, I’d like to have an “Inspect” function where you can read other player’s biography and see what that character has achieved in-game. Along with the inspect function, you can also see what gear the player is wearing without knowing what the stats are.
Everyone likes to play Sims and decorate houses. It will be implemented very soon with brand new furniture available at BLTC costing very affordable prices in gems.
I had to LOL at this being a simmer , though I’m more about creating stories with my sims than decorating their houses . As for the actual topic It’ll probably cost crazy influence to build but i do expect them at some point. It will definitely be interesting to see how they are designed this time around and what it takes to upgrade them or what the upgrades will even be .
I too am a Sim-mer. I would like to see how player housing would work in GW2. But I confess… I have never played any MMO that has player housing. If this gets implemented, I would be playing this game forever… you know how the Sims was.
FFFoooooOOOOoooOoo. Quaggan want more toys, but toy store close. No toys hurt Quaggan. Princess Doll safe in pod, safe from Krait. SSSSsstooooOOOooopid girl get hurt ’cause girl was naughty, make fun of Quaggan.
Shop owner promise shinies— lots of shinies, sparkly shinies— promise shinies if we give tiny princess, tiny kitty soldier, tiny golem, tiny horsies, tiny griffins— bad tinies go bye-bye— Skritt destroy them with rocks and more rocks— some good tinies become bad tinies— they go splat— good tinies give to shop owner for shinies— more tinies means more shinies— more tinies inside big box from sky— sometimes big boxes have no tinies— only stinky socks, old sweater, ugly hat— shop owner get good tinies, only good tinies— no bad tinies, they all went splat.
Can I go now?
Lion’s Arch News Network (LANN) Transcript, 78th Day of Colossus
Burgh Redcape: Toymaster Tixx is scheduled to arrive today in Lion’s Arch, despite the accusation of carrying defective, and potentially, deadly products. Resident of Lion’s Arch, Jane Roe and her parents, were surprised and then confused as the Princess Doll they had bought started to lash out on the child and killed the child’s pet.
Mykki: Yes Burgh, even with his genius and superiority, Mister Tixx overlooked a flaw in his design which might cause damage to his reputation and damage to his business. We have Alina Greene in Lion’s Arch Plaza reporting on site. Alina?
Cut to Alina Greene in Lions Arch Plaza
Alina: Thanks Mykki. Behind me is Jane Roe’s parents, picketing nearby the portal that will activate once Toymaster Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch. You can see that a mob has joined the parents, protesting against Toymaster Tixx and his Infinirarium. But despite the allegations, the toymaster is still scheduled to arrive at Lion’s Arch.
Cut to Matilda Roe interview clip
Matilda Roe: I couldn’t believe it. He knows what his toys could do, and people still won’t take heed. My daughter suffered, and she’s traumatized after the whole incident.
Alina: And why are you here.
Matilda Roe: Warn them. Any concerned parent and concerned citizen would get this sham out of Lion’s Arch. It’s the only right thing to do.
Alina: And have you succeeded?
Matilda Roe: Well, we hope so. Our neighbors threw out their toy soldiers and mini golems. Some people left the plaza after hearing our story. Some are just too eager to meet this sham.
Alina: And how’s your daughter doing?
Matilda Roe: Oh, she’s recovering, thank Dwayna. But she’s still in shambles, but she’s a tough kid, you know.
Cut back to Alina
Alina: Now Mykki, after the incident, Tixx has released a statement that he had never sold his toys to any retailers and had not planned to sell them for profit. The case is still being heard, but at this moment, Tixx may not be liable for any damage that had surfaced.
Burgh Redcape (off screen): So Alina, do you have information on where the Roes bought the toy?
Alina: The Roes said they had bought it at the local toy store. When we asked the store owner where he got the merchandise, he refused to answer and closed down his shop. One of our sources say that the store owner have bought his merchandise from a traveling skritt.
Cut back to studio
Mykki: Thank you Alina. Rather unsettling development for Wintersday.
Burgh Redcape: Yes indeed.
Mykki: But it’s not all bad news this Wintersday. Next up, the greatest heroes of Tyria hold a bell choir concert at Lions Arch bank. Stay tuned.

If I saw that in WvW I would run in terror.
Imagine… a zerg of these. All bulky male norn. All naked, except the underwear. All wearing bunny ears. All wearing boxing gloves.
I love to see the Confusion condition mix-up your skill bar and profession specific skill bar. Also, this Confusion would remap your WASD and your dodge would be erratic.
Very Good job. Thats what I would call it. And people should not forget, that all this content is for free…
Agree. And I will show my appreciation by buying gems this Friday (payday) because they deserve my well-earned moolah.
I’m happy with the rewards on this event. The cool thing is that I have the option to either gamble for an endless tonic or craft a mini-pet toy. And as a Charr, I am loving the little Charr soldiers.
Day one, I wanted to take up Cooking as my crafting profession. So day one, I bought the Chef’s outfit and wore it whenever I’m at the cooking station. I would like to see a crafter-themed costume for the other crafting professions available.
Toy ideas for the crafting costumes:
Artificer/Huntsman/Weaponsmith (Could be one costume named “Weaponsmith”) – Experimental Weapon Prototype
(1) Smack – Hit your enemy with the weapon’s stock.
(2) Trial Fire (Knockback) – Activate the weapon and see if it works. And hope that it does.
(3) Unstable Magic (PBAoE) – Press the button that you forgot about in the prototype.
Jeweler – Jewel Studded Brass Knuckles
(1) Punch – Give unsuspected foes a luxurious knuckle sandwich
(2) Examine Jewel (Fear) – A new type of gem arrived which makes everyone go into a frenzy.
(3) Jeweler’s Slap (Stun) – Do a backhand that dazzles everyone with your stunning diamond.
Armorsmith – Blacksmith Hammer
(1) Pummel – Pummel your foes with your smithing hammer
(2) Forge (Channeled) – Use your hammer to shape a weapon… or beat an opponent to a pulp
(3) Summon Anvil (Knockback. PBAoE)- An anvil drops from the sky.
Leatherworker/Tailor (Could be one costume named “Clothier”) – Dual Wield Shears
(1) Snip Snip – Use your shears to cut through thread and leather and anyone
(2) Fashion Inspiration (Whirl) – You’ve been hit with inspiration and couldn’t help yourself but spin in excitement
(3) Fashion Disaster (Fear) – For some reason, your latest line-up disturbs the psyche of the common man and woman.
If you’re having problems with the jumping puzzle, hide the UI and steer with mouse move. Also, if you’re a Charr or a Norn, take off your armor if it’s baggy or bulgy. It also gives you an impression that your jumps are “light”.
Agreed. And what more when January and February rolls in?
(Hoping the world won’t end on 12/21/2012 because of Zhaitan)
Twas the night before Wintersday, when all through Tyria
Not a creature was stirring, not even an Asura.
The stars hung in the sky with the snow twinkling in the air,
In hopes that Toymaster Tixx soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sweet omnomberries danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out from the skies there arouse a giant Golem,
I sprang from the bed to see the marvelous gem.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the vessel that bellowed the Wintersday cheer.
The little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it was Toymaster Tixx.
Slowly it hovered over Lions Arch’s mane
With a song of whimsy that pattered like rain.
“Now dash! Now dance! And prance like vixens.
Like a comet, don’t be stupid, we’ll mew like kittens.
To the top of the arch, to the top of the wall!
Now dash and dance! Come all! Come all!”
The townsfolk gathered and sang in a joyous cry,
Pointing and reaching towards the snowy sky.
So up to the heavens the Golem loom
With the vessel full of Toys to fight off the gloom.
And then, in a twinkling, the Asura appeared,
In the middle of the Plaza which the Mad King seared.
As we stood in wonderment, bewilderment, in awe
That a grown-up Charr began to lick his paw.
Tixx spoke not a word, but drew out a magnificent cube,
And flung it to the ground that startled a rube.
From the debris and tinsel, came out a mechanical prop,
Humming and tinning was the portal for his shop.
He sprang to the light and disappeared in thin air,
Most looked around, and some did not dare.
The children did not care and jumped in with joy,
For every Tyrian was guaranteed the masterwork’s toy.
Happy Wintersday to all,
Big or small.
Happy Wintersday to all,
Come all, come all.
Hey OP, here’s a link of some compiled guides from reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/wiki/guides
But some tips that I wish I knew when I started:
- You can deposit all of your crafting materials anywhere and anytime. Click the “Gear” icon in the Inventory window, and then click “Deposit Collectibles”.
- Salvage whites and blues. Sell green and yellow items. Auction off orange (exotic) items. Of course, equip items that you need as you level up.
I would love to see an Execution Arena where some unlucky bot would get slaughtered mercilessly for our amusement. Anyone remember A.I. the movie?
It’s still an MMO. By definition it is a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG. There are folks who hang out together RPing. Folks who join zergs in WvW. Folks who party up for dungeons and fractals. Folks who duke it out in sPvP. It is massive.
But I understand what you meant. I would love to see the open world more populated. There should be more incentive to populate an area. On top of my head, one incentive is to tie in special armor skins in an area where mobs would drop a specific token for it.
For now, the only thing that would make me wander around other areas are jumping puzzles and special events like the upcoming Wintersday.
Capture the Flag type PvP with Snowballs?! ALL OF MY WANT!
Whips. Whips! WHIPS!
Make it a one-hander and you can dual-wield whips if you want.
“Ha! Pirates who fight dirty? I fight dirtier.”
No trinity, please.
But I must admit, I do enjoy being a healer. But that craving is still satiated with the pseudo-heal action in regards to Buffs and Partial Heals. For my Thief, throwing down a Shadow Refuge is satisfying, especially when getting a downed ally back up.
In regards to tanks. Hell no. I did tanking back in WoW, and I just dislike the gameplay of tanking. There are bosses where tanking is really fun, but there are times where things get borrriinnggg… And the attitude that comes with the tanks and/or heals.
And I don’t think we’ll see Tank and Healers in GW2. Doing so would royally-kitten-up their balancing on classes (and currently, it’s an uphill battle for balancing).
