I saw a charr named Taylor Swiftclaw…
Thank you Arenanet for making an MMO where I could really roleplay and roflstomp people with real skills.
I agree, but I think there should be a limit to how much hearts you can repeat in a day or week.
Or what they could do is this —
You get mail from one of the Heart-NPCs, asking for your assistance once again. And there could be three or five requests. This would promote re-exploration on a specific map.
Their is a portal through your front door. It is a zone called “Outside”. You will find wonderful graphics and opportunity to grind all you want, you just need to get a job. The opportunity to advance goes beyond just your job; you could even lead a nation of people.
I don’t want to play that game! There’s permadeath! Also nerf the ultra-rich class please.
Thank goodness it’s not addictive, and thank Dwayna I don’t feel obliged to sink my time on it because of a monthly sub.
Remember when you were a kid, you went outside with your friends and pretended to be pirates, knights, hoodlums, thieves, cats, dogs, etc. You had adventures with your friends and with your imagination. You would jump up and feel this ecstatic feeling that you were powerful, then telling your friends that they have to pretend they’re dead.
Years and decades later, you become self-conscious, and you want to shy away from childish stuff like make believe. You had to adapt with society — dress like this, talk like this, listen to this, read that. Any weirdness or off-beat behavior would jeopardize your reputation. “Nastyjman is weird, don’t talk to him.”
So this may sound sappy and stupid, but after a couple of weeks in Tyria, I feel like a kid again going out on adventures, exploring every caves and killing stuff with my daggers. I also wanted to look the part and to make a backstory for my character.
It’s fun really.
Update:
We have finally established a 50 Slot Guild Bank. We will utilize the bank for food and ingredients to spare. Next upgrade will be Guild Workshop to hopefully upgrade both Architecture and Economy.

RP is the endgame for me.
I’ll probably join you, endgame is just sad. I jumped on Tarnished Coast but its all Tavern Rp’s and everyone takes themselves way to seriously. Even if they type utter garbage. Playing a homeless drunk in LA now THAT’S living. I often take a break from the grind to preform this in LA overflow to the enjoyment and annoyance of many.
My character is dressed up as a pirate. I plan to hangout in Bloodtide Coast and just /say Yarr! to anyone who pass me by. I also plan to just mumble to myself (still as /say) saying, “Now, where did I bury that treasure…”
Man, the possibilities of RP. I actually want a toy or a consumable that lets you make a campfire so you can settle in the wilds or inside a cave. You can interact with the campfire, giving you actions like roast meat, play with fire (with a chance of burning you), etc.
Of course, you can’t use this in the main cities.
I could but I would just use my current livestream channel that I’ve been showing off the bwes in the past.
The thought never occurred to me to record my dungeon runs. I guess I can start doing it.
I’ve been searching youtube for any clean runs on dungeons with commentaries — there are none.
I don’t really roleplay much, but whenever someone is downed or dies I get overly emotional as I try to save them from the brink of death.
Always fun.
I tend to yell out “This man needs help!!” or “He was so young…”
Good times, indeed.
WTB emote that lets you fall down on your knees, look up in the sky and cry out “NNNNOOOOO!!!!!!!”
I would want a youtube channel, or someone, who has done a clean dungeon run. Swagman, are you up for the challenge?
If a plush Quaggan goes on sale, I will purchase one immediately. Especially if it says “HOO” when you squeeze it.
oooOOOooo, Quaggan likes that.
I agree. There are people who will always like or are accustomed to the structured, linear dungeons. It’s hard for some to understand that GW2 dungeons are not the same since it doesn’t have the trinity.
I fear that my SO will be back to WoW, but I won’t. I don’t like the trinity, and I don’t like dungeons — at all. I was over that 2 years ago. I’m glad GW2 is out and that it shies away from the gear treadmill inherent in dungeons.
In Bloodtide Coast, there’s a cave (Moriarity’s Hold) where the head pirate begins to sing. It was funny. Plus the heart in there was a great aside as you had to wake up drunk NPCs with a bucket of water and throw liquor bottles.
I can’t tell for sure, but one month in, I barely scratched the surface of this game. There’s a lot to do really, but I’m taking my time.
I’m already 80, and I’m still overwhelmed with the stuff that needs to be done: exploring, crafting, PvPing, dungeoning, looking fine with the transmutes and fine-tuning a personal build. All in all, this game is amazing.
Hear hear! I wish they implement this soon. I’m apprehensive on trying out the dungeons simply because I’ve made my build around solo PvE. Also, my build also works great with WvWvW.
By far this DE makes me chuckle whenever I start it off. Kill the Alpha Drake. I love how you can hear the fisherman struggle inside the drake’s belly.
Happened to me too with the Sparkfly Swamp dragon. I don’t care if I got a green or a blue from it, heck!, even a piece of portabello mushroom would do. I was a sad panda when I didn’t get anything…
I hope ANet fixes it soon.
Monks are OP… oh wait, they’re not in this game. Yet.
I love it. I came from WoW and SWToR, and I’m tired of the bajillion skills they throw at you. It becomes more overwhelming when you roll an alt. Then you have to rebind some abilities, hold shift and control to activate some other abilities.
With the limited skill set, it feels like you control your abilities. You will have your own rotation and prioritization. And while things are in cooldown, you have to worry about dodging and positioning.
Charr kitten — oh lawlz! This is fantastic. That explains why there were kittens muddled in some posters emotionally charged responses.
Still would be playable though. Hopefully, in the future, things would be optimized. But it would be fun even with the delay.
I think musical instruments would be an interesting addition to the Gem Store — I would buy it. The skill set is already available on the Quaggan organ. The instruments can be a flute, guitar, and — if you have a fever — more cowbell!
I recently broke my mouse so I struggled with keyboard turning until I got a new one. This got me thinking of an option to play the solely with a keyboard.
Right now, keyboard turning is slooowwwwwww. What could be improved is an option to do Camera Lock on Target.
Let’s look at the Up, Down, Left and Right Keys:
- Hold Up Arrow to engage Camera Lock on Target. Basically, your camera is focused and locked on your target. So when you jump behind your target, your camera is still fixated on your target. This would also be great if Camera Lock would bring it to First Person View or Over-the-should View.
- Left and Right Arrow will switch targets, like an improved tab-targeting. This function only happens when you have Camera Lock toggled on. If Camera Lock is off, keyboard turning will be on.
- Down Arrow will be bound to About Face, which turns your character around. If Camera Lock is toggled on, pressing the down button will dodge your character depending on the direction you’re holding in WASD or ESDF.
Just my suggestion… especially those who will lose their mouse from overuse while playing this game. :-)
The Gourmand Priory was formed under Buwan, a Charr chef who had trouble managing the food he’s been creating and ingredients lying around. He thought of disposing the food, but was bothered by the thought because there are a lot of hungry Tyrians in the world.
Gourmand Priory was founded on 1325 AE. Its purpose is to help chefs learn new recipes, share ingredients and make Cooking a fun and fulfilling craft.
The main focus is to establish Architecture and Economy. The guild is still working on a Guild Bank and hope that it’s up soon. Still a new guild, Buwan is currently accepting all types of chefs and gourmands — master chefs, aspiring chefs, adventurers with an affinity for food.
So bring out your carrier pigeon and send a mail to Buwan or thisnastyjman.8207.
