Yeah, account bount precursors and account bound one-time only gifts of exploration are not cool.

Today, if somebody wants 19 different Legendaries, then he can buy them. After HoT, the only option will be to buy at least 10 character slots and the do world completion 10 times.

I think icy rune stones, sigils, and gifts of battle should still be included… But what else?

1. No more Silver Doubloons please (or anything that level 80 characters can’t farm).
2. No more gemstore stuff needed for gifts please
3. If they aren’t adding new dungeons, does it make sense to force us to grind them again?
4. Ectos, Obsidian shards, skill points, and mystic clovers better still be involved
5. Pvp reward tracks should probably help progress the precursor or legendary crafting hunts (similar to the Dry Top, or Silverwastes tracks) and I wouldn’t be opposed to Pvp being an easier or more reliable method for some component.

6. The WvW maps will be on rotation and it will be a upper pain to get world completion.

I am not at all worried about OP’s concern.

He’s right that there will be power creep (new weapons, traits), but there won’t be enough new content (we’ll be lucky to get 4 new maps) to invalidate old content, based on sheer numbers alone.

So anet will realize this and tweak downscaling or use living story to tweak DE’s and done.

Sigil of Generosity

The snowball sigil is great.

It’s a nice addition to the game. Blind isn’t really good in PvE, the snowball sigil isn’t available in Pvp, and the sigil doesn’t scale for WvW zergplay, but the sigil is decent. Anybody who weapon swaps a lot can get great use of such a defensive sigil, Necrommancers can even trait to get a chill with the sigil.

But Generousity is a top tier best in slot sigil. Anybody with precision can remove a condition and add pressure every 10s.

Generousity needs to return.

Perhaps Anet coud add them to the Wintersday Star or Mawdrey loot tables?

Right nw I play Dagger, but for the longest time I played Axe.

You are taking axe for the range, and so it is a completely different play style. More like a traditional mid liner, less like a thief.

Axe 2 and axe 3 have longish cool downs, so get used to weapon swapping. Axe/Staff is a weapon swapping nightmare. DPS DPS, Condi Cc bomb from staff, DPS DPS.

Since you are kiting so much, war horn isn’t a necessity, and you can take offhand dagger. The point covering weakness and condition transfer are really nice. What kills me mostly on any necromancer build is immobilize spam, and an extra condion remove is always nice.

Guild Wars 1 had an enemy called Mursaat.

At first they were invisible and had a 1 hit KO attack. Then you got ascended and could see them, but they still had that attack. Then you got your armor piece infused and could resist the attack, but it didn’t help much. Then you got your whole armor infused and could laugh off the attack.

Btw: Mursaat are in the trailer for HoT.

See what I’m getting at?

Ascended is super cheap these days.

The last feature pack dramatically reduced the costs of leveling crafting.
Mawdrey tanked the price of wood to super cheap.
Wintersday tanked the prices of cloth
The silver wastes drops all ascended materials like candy

All of the time gated materials can be bought for reasonable prices on the TP.

Yeah, it looks like greatsword is the cleaving weapon that Necromancers have always desired for the dungeon pack & stack meta. DPS will not be better than dagger either.

So the only real question remains: what are the other skills other than the auto attack.

If they are DPS skills, then the weapon is garbage. If there is no way to root an enemy, then the weapon is garbage. I expect land trident until proven otherwise.

Inb4 this thread gets moved to the WvW forum and buried.

See, other games like Aion and DOAC and even WoW partly, merge Pvp and PvE. And, this content there and here is really fun.

Players were drooling when they found out that they could be “red” in a small irrelevant portion of the Silverwastes and excited at the possibility of Pvp that doesn’t exist.

But, there and here, other players complain about mixing gameplay types. Many PvE players want no Pvp at all in their content (and in every game that offers both PvE and pvp, the PvE servers at more populated). Many PvPers would prefer no PvE wasting their time.

So people complain, and stuff gets nerfed and never seen again.

Put real rewards in the OS chest and you will get good gameplay again.
Stick a challenging, rewarding world boss in Edge of the mists and you will get good gameplay.

I would love to see minions tied to weapon skills. Torch weapon summoning a flesh reaver would be great.

I absolutely do not want GW 1 minions that require corpses. No corpse spells please!

Stats and Traits for wvw Zerg

I’m not in love with either build.

The DPS build is something that you could roam with or just hop into WvW with, and I guess it’s ok. The well build is not necessary, as the reduced cool down on wells is a non factor most of the time.

Chilling Darkness + plague form is, IMHO, the best thing this class offers. You can run with the frontliners with your damage reduction and stability, while using your chill to separate stragglers from their Zerg, where they can be easily killed off.

The second best thing this class has going for it is unholy sanctuary. Unholy sanctuary with this classes already great life force generation in a Zerg make you very tough to kill even in berzerker armor.

My advice would be to build around one of those two traits. (hard to get both into the same build considering the required traits needed elsewhere). Something like 20/20/0/0/30 (chilling darkness) or 0/10/30/0/30 (Unholy sanctuary).

Agree that vanilla deathmatch courtyard is okay ish but needs some sort of map mechanic for Deathmatch to really work.

Don’t like points per finishers because downed states are not equal. Necromancer has pathetic downed state defenses against finishers but does ok because of high downed state HP. Ramgers basically can out heal damage and have to be finished if they get their #3 off. Engineers have great defenses against stomps but are easily burst down.

I am in Borliss Pass.

We are in last place of the worst tier. Yet, we queued maps last night in prime time. Our server is not dead. Our problem is night capping and times of the day when we have no coverage.

This thread pops up every 2 weeks.. Always some poster from t2 or t3 wants to merge off the bronze servers to solve their coverage gaps. However, the bronze servers have the same coverage gaps in the same times as you do!

So merging servers accomplishes nothing.

The problem is the 24/7 game mode and the china/europe/NA split. Games are decided by who has coverage in the off hours. Until this is fixed, WvW populations will flock to the servers who do have coverage in off hours, making he problem worse.

What needs to be done is a total overhaul of scoring.

Let’s say there is a pole and every 15 minutes you can whack it for one point. If 150 people whack it, 150 points. If 20 whack it 20 points. This would be an improvement over current scoring, because the work of 20 people at 5 am doesn’t disproportionately affect the match. But even this doesn’t solve coverage.

That’s what they did in Guild Wars 1:

Played endless Whack a mole with skills for no other reason than PvPers got bored every few months.

PvE players hated it.

Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have hundreds of skills that you can pick and choose from and trait or gear changes are subtle. I’d prefer that development resources instead got spend on at least two more stronghold maps, and other game related content.

Sure, the old precursors drop about once every two years, but they can be crafted in the forge. The most expensive can be had for 1k gold.

The new precursors ought to be easier, since they are one per account.

Plus The rest of the legendary still has to be completed. And the rest of the legendary could be different/harder.

I expect something like the luminescent shoulder collection with a steeper per piece bandit crest grind.

Z axis teleports are really important in SPvp.

The Wurm is sorta a z-axis teleport. You have to set it up ahead of time, and you can’t move too far away or it’ll fail. That we all take a teleport that is so kitten compared to Mesmer/thief/elementalist testifies to he strong they are.

You don’t need such ports on Foefire, but necromancers are Worse on that map since it is so huge necessitating taking swiftness just to turtle behind other classes.

1. There was a story expansion with 10-12 hours of content. (basically, 2 or 3 story missions per episode)

If you want to do that, the last episode is free and you already have it, but the other episodes are 200 gems. Doing these episodes unlocks the Luminesecnt armor skin scavenger hunt collection and the ability to craft the mawdrey back piece (Acended backpiece with selectable stats). If you care about either.

2. There was a big WvW update that now allows you to earn WvW experience. There’s also a new map, Edge of the Mists, that is a great place to level and farm gold with minor Pvp in it.

3. The whole SPvp reward system is changed. Now, you select a reward track and earn the rewards from it when you play. If you had Pvp items, you can use the skins in PvE or Pvp now. If you had unspent glory, that is gone.

4. If you had outfits before, high tail it to the Black Lion Armorer (there is one near the bank in divintiy’s reach. Even if you didn’t have outfits, you can talk to him with you old characters and get some own clothes tonics.

5. You can get really cheap 20-slot bags by trading candy corn to Sonder the Seller in Lions Arch, Even if you buy off the TP, you save like 5g off the normal price.

6. If you had Minipets, you can take them out of your bank and account bind them and they will be available to all of your characters.

7. Your old characters don’t have to deal with the really annoying trait unlock system, which will be removed at some point in the near future. Don’t delete them unless you like to grind a lot..

8. There are two hard open world raids now, Tequatl and the Evolved Jungle Wurm. They are on a schedule, along with the rest of the world bosses.

9. Dry Top and the Silverwastes are the new maps. Open chests in the Silverwastes to quickly get the ascended materials you will need for your ascended gear (this is the best method).

10. The fractals of the mists dungeon got more instances. Fractals of the mists is the best way to get ascended Rings, and, if you are lucky, you can also get Acended weapons or armor there (which could save you a lot of gold).

So, OP is upset that anet came out with a mini expansion while he was gone? An expansion that is 70% free stuff, and 30% a 12 hour story campaign.

Would he have preferred no updates?

Most every successful game has paid DLC these days. LOTRO, grand theft auto, call of Duty, Dragon Age, WoW… If you want new content, you have to pay for the new content.

OP doesn’t even have to pay $$ if he wants to buy gems with gold. He can also join somebody else’s game to play the story instances.

I suspect OP is upset that he didn’t get this stuff for free, but he wasn’t around when it was offered for free.

The stuff OP is missing amounts to just teasers and hype for the new expansion. There are some good boss fights in there however.

And “season one” amounts to festival content, the worthwhile content of which will be recycled in future festivals or in the expansion. The season one multiplayer instances are now fractals, and the best of the season one group events like the marionette will be guild events.

It could be worse.

I get game crashes in the vine wraith fight at least 30% of the time. If RNGeesus had not favored me with his coats, I’d be raging.

The SW is truly the best $$ farm in the game right now, but, if anything, the quality of players is as bad as ever as the hardcore grinders have already moved on.

Sounds like tweaks to the class bases. I figure something like.

New Thief — uses cool downs instead of initiative now, F1 is now a profession specific attack
New Necromancer — Different Death Shroud Skills
New Warrior — Different, defensive F skills
New Guardian — different F skills, healing
New Ranger — Pets completely reworked, fufill a pure support no DPS role
New Engineer — Different F skills
New Elementalist — slow attunement swapping, more health, ability to weapon swap
New Mesmer — Different F skills

They shouldn’t even try. Unless you think that flavor text explaining that you forged an alliance with new players to investigate the murder of a lion arch council member. The investigation lead you to Scarlet, an insane sylvari who you defeated, but not before she awoke a dragon.

If I have siphons or the regeneration boon (such as from my well heal or my blood trait). They should work.

If my teammate sees me low on health and tries to heal me, his heal should work. If I bought expensive dolyak runes, the heal should work.

If I consumed regeneration or siphon food, then those heals should work.

If this is too much healing, then nerf life force generation until it is not too much healing.

So far new legendary weapons have been confirmed. Also, I believe that completed collections rewarding a precursor has also been confirmed.

Oddly, precursors rewarded from drops or the mystic forge have not been confirmed.

New precursors crafted from the same mystic forge process as old precursors could lead to an initial glut of old precursors. New precursor crafted from a new process could tank the price of ectos, rares, and mats.

All existing collections are account bound. Repeatable collections don’t exist so far. A continuation of this would mean one collection completion per account. This could be much more restrictive than gifts of exploration, which are rewarded per character.

Will all accounts get a collection for all precursors? If precursors aren’t mystic forge craft able, I’d wager on it. This could contribute to easy collections or undesired precursors being far cheaper than harder collections with desired precursors.

How will will be crafted once you have a precursor?

Will they require dungeon tokens, badges of honor, and world completion along with gifts of fortune? Or entirely new requirements with entirely new materials. Alot of us want to know now if we have to do map completion yet another time.

Finally, there’s the issue of ‘shiny inflation’ with luminescent armors, mariners aqua readers, and certain amulets giving auras similar to legendaries, hw will anet top this?

If they borrow the system from Aion, where a warrior had base skills and then could specialize into a Templar (tank) or a Gladiator (heavy DPS)…

Then we are essentially looking at 8-10 new classes, depending on whether the revenant is something entirely new or is a specialized warrior.
