Play the TP!
It’s not like you have anything better to do while you are waiting 3mins for queue to pop.
I thought this was going to be about Recipe: Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup
A recipe I listed 6 months ago at 99 gold 99 silver just sold over the weekend. Somebody is trying to manipulate that market too.
I hope they return FoW and UW as “open world.” content but keep the entry free and keep the “kick from zone on death.”
We have housing:
Mine has:
Treasure Chest
lost bandit chest
Cloth Rack
Copper node
Silver Node
Gold Node
Mithril Node
Orichalum Node
Tier 1,2,3 Wood
Elder Wood Node
Tier 1,2,3 Harvesting Node
Ghost Pepper Node
Lotus Node
Snow Truffle Node
omnomberry node
Wintersday Generosity Tree
Watchwork Sprocket Node
Place of Power
candy corn node
Quartz Crystal node
I don’t have all of the nodes yet, I am waiting on the prices for some to drop. I also do have a contingent of Hylecks who have moved in with me. Plus I have a home instance portal stone.

GS needs to have a move skill, a CC, a finisher, and probably also a defense skill.
Too much to ask for? Probably, but Necomancers need a lot of stuff to be competitive.
Demand is actually up. All the new players from January’s $10 sale are crafting ascended armor now. Even leather managed to briefly go up by 1 copper.
Silk is fine. Materials shouldn’t be worthless.
Linen, on the other hand is a problem.
Ok here is my new solution:
Hold a festival.
The meta reward got the festival is a silk rack containing 1-3 silk scraps for the home instance. After the festival is over, the silk rack gets added to the laurel vendor with the other old festival rewards.
This thread needs to be merged into the other one. It adds nothing new.
The solution to silk prices, and OP may not like it but it is the solution:
Silk & cloth drops are now common bonuses from Silverwastes & Dry Top chests plus silk & cloth drops are common festival rewards. So load up on silk during festivals when it is cheap, or go do Silverwastes.

It sure looked like a single rifle turret could take out all skritt bombers while you did your own thing wherever else on the map.
OP is just wrong.
Vanilla GW2 will be fine because most of the expansion is feature pack content and because there are very few new areas, & these new areas will be ‘hard’ limiting their mass appeal.
Vanilla GW2 players getting outclassed by power creep, that’s another story, and may well happen.
So how Many AP in the Expansion?
If the expansion is full priced, you would expect about 6k total available AP in the expansion plus expansion related living story.
APs for mastery grinding, new collections, new minipet collection, Specialization related Pvp (“Champion Druid”), redone WvW achievements, new map completion, new personal story…
& out of that 6k, probably a third wil be easy and a third super grindy.
So does an extra 2-4k AP from the expansion change the calculus of this thread?
Aetherpath Cutscenes should be skippable.
Rewards should be improved too. More gold and tokens from the end chest is my suggestion. Low drp rate of rares shoud not be tinkered with.

You should be stockpiling anyways.
They already said that leveling will give mastery points, so your tomes of knowledge and daily exp scrolls ought to be saved for masteries.
The best way to balance EotM is to make it imposable to make a new map with out Qing out the first map.
+1000
This means that sides will be evenly matched and overflows from full severs will not have anything to do, so they will cap and leave.
I’m guessing August, which is why the release date isn’t set yet,
I think we get updated Queen’s festival & SAB. Plus a WvW season.
Bringing the Zephirite fleet back makes no sense, but it’s the only other festival they’ve got. Longshot chance to get Marionette back as a festival before it returns as permanent content (its confirmed to return as Guild Content).
Salvage: if you do this right, it is profitable or pays for itself and you can repeat this 250 times for 500 AP.
Southsun Survival: the first 30 games you do you can get almost 1 AP/Game.
Jump puzzles: 10 AP per puzzle and a lot of these are short or you can be ported.
Crafting: Lots of AP available for maxing all crafts. You want to max several crafts anyways.
Personal Story: complete the personal story once, then do the first 6 missions on all races and join all of the orders.
Wardrobe: use the dulfy guide to max the wardrobe achievements very cheaply. There are a ton of skins available for badges of honor or karma practically free. You can also finish the basic collections while you do this.
Dungeon Master: Getting all of the dungeon paths done is hard, but once you finish this, your next 200 dungeon paths give you 1 AP each. You can get mostly done with the dungeon skins title while you max this out.
There’s usually some easy AP to be had somewhere.
Pew Pew Ranger — Condi Necomancer has no defenses at range and will just die.
Off topic.
I would like to see a series 4 / HoT series miniatures set prior to the release of the expansion.
We’ve seen the dinosaurs and want the miniatures, and a release of a Minipet series could add some gemstore revenue for anet, while also building hype for the expansion.
Anet make it happen!
I disagree.
It will still be worthless PvE (mobs aren’t moving in stacking dungeon encounters. The best PvE use is actually for stacking confusion).
It will still be worthless Pvp (takes too long to get protection which lasts too short, and the fear is trivial to avoid)
It might be better in WvW where it is already godly.
Or how about FoW (period)?
Underworld would be pretty easy to translate to Gw2, the whole thing was basically a “meta event” that required other events to all be completed at the same time to spawn a mega boss.
So put all the events on Timers and UW works like Karka queen.
Disable dead resizing, add an entrance fee, and make the Aaraxes in the first room really tough too. Done.
If there aren’t a lot of new zones, then they might do something with Magumma wastes/Southsun map completion.
It’s not even that complicated.
OP has a two year old account. If he checks his ingame mail, there is a scroll that will level his character up to lvl 20 in the mail.
Is VeeWee #1 turret Engi NA still retired?
They changed the reward system.
Your rewards are better now
You can convert the stuff from pvp into gold now, and you don’t have to worry about the unexplained confusing mystic forge) and you still have the stuff that was in your locker. It’s in your wardrobe now, assessible from the hero menu.
This way you can convert your Pvp rewards into PvE rewards, kitting yourself for WvW, or getting rare PvE skins. (Or convert your Pvp wins into gems and get gemstore stuff). None of that was possible before.
It requires transmutation charges now to change your look, but you will get a crapload of those from Pvp (1 every 4 wins). Easily enough to change your look every time that you re roll.
You need to visit the black lion armor smith to get back any town clothes that you had.
You can craft sharpening stones with your bloodstone dust.
So go ahead and do that and you will be in the position of never having enough bloodstone dust. The Dragonite item is probably coming, and the Empreal fragments do need another sink.
Necromancer should have something, anything, to counter projectiles. It doesn’t have to be GOOD, it just has to exist. We are just hard countered with no defenses against the most basic, obvious build in the game.
A lot of us suggested the toxic Krait reflect bubble (Basically the old engineer shield reflect that rooted you)
But Poison Cloud or spectral wall would work too.
As for spectral wall itself. Right now it is godly in WvW, terrible in pvE, and bad in Pvp. It could use a buff, but at least it has a good use.
The expansion can’t come soon Enough.
I’ve recently noticed that Diablo 3 is now cheaper than the gems cost to transfer off my last place Dead WvW server……
Look at how the prices of the backpieces are over 1 gold/12 gold.
Look at the prices of the food today, one day after event end. Or alternatively use that food (Hint: it’s awesome especially the crit food which has no internal cool down, giving you 2 minutes of swiftness or 20 stacks of might just from auto attack)
If you held on to your stuff, then you will make big money from those boxes.
Mystic coins are an interesting currency that anet basically abandoned at launch.
I’m sure the idea was to give players something valuable just for logging in every day. But they gave up on the idea for whatever reason, going so far as to create laurels, which are the same thing but account bound.
If mystic coins have no non-obsolete uses, and anet isnt planning to use them in the future, then they probably should be nerfed.
Supply and Demand
Demand: A lot of people who bought the game for $10 recently are starting to craft their ascended armor or the first time.
Supply: After players previously complained about cloth prices, Anet dumped excess supply of cloth to lower prices by adding them to Wintersday clothes salvage and by adding them to bandit chests. The Wintersday excess supply is disappearing. Will players go back to the Silverwastes now that Dragon ball is over and open a lot of chests? Or will players do something else instead, like SAB or WvW? If players don’t return to the Silverwastes, silk could skyrocket again.
They changed it t about the same time that they nerfed some Vigor.
Of course, there wasn’t enough weakness at the time to counter vigor, and that is doubly true now.
I hope Dragon Ball is done after today.
Mostly, I am tired of playing a game that’s worn out its welcome, but also I’ve been speculating on the food and back items and don want to be undercut. There’s already a massive over glut of backpieces & rice, and the other food items are a week away.
The game could be fun but the achievement, Dragon’s Gaze, ruined it. It just ruins gameplay when one character is an easy kill because he’s playing to get an achievement, not to win.
I know, because I was that guy. I would camp the kick orb spawn and kick at every opportunity I could, passing up kills to do so, getting myself killed doing so. While I was doing this, my team lost 66% of the time. Now that I have stopped, I win 66% of the time.
I also instantly recognize the people not playing to win and try to camp them or quit their team.
Dragon’s Gaze sucks sucks sucks.
The other achievements and rewards were well suited for a two week festival. If the festival drags on past 3 weeks, then they will be a worthless oversupplied glut.
The exotic backpiece doesn’t even look that good, but the 20% boon food is really strong.
It’s a shame about Dragons Gaze. One bad achievement ruins gameplay for everybody.

Not revealing the release date kills hype. Vaporware…
Anyways, the investor analysts who follow the company are confident that release will be in Q3. Q3 is July, August, and September. So probably release is in august, which would have disappointed us in late January but will please us in May.
Expect dribbles of stuff every two weeks until then.
Thelonger we have to wait, the more the game has to live up to. As it stands, 1 new profession, 5 new skills per class and some changed traits, 1 new Pvp map, 1 new WvW map, 1-4 new zones, and new content that is locked behind grind gates… This will not cut it if the wait is too long.
That awful blood trait that pulls conditions might give us a second or two of resistance.
Other than that, I don’t see resistance on the necromancer.
Elsewhere, I see resistance coming from changes to blasting fields, new weapons, auto-immune response on Engineer, and Diamond skin on elementalist.
Longtime players of Guild wars 1 remember the nightfall beta:
Dervishes steamrolled through all Pvp with their OP abilities. But, by the time they made it into the game, Dervishes were a second tier profession: decent but somebody else was usually better.
Stuff like " no cool down on legend swap…". This will almost assuredly get fixed. Don’t fixate on the values and numbers, and instead look at the capabilities and potentials.
For Dungeons you need to have a reflect or your DPS doesn’t measure up. The best weapons in the game are nothing compared to reflected boss damage.
Ok, power necromancers are a different beast than condition necromancers, which are a different beast than minion masters.
Condition Necromancers beat: Other condition classes, zerker , elementalists
Condition necromancers lose to: Pew Pew Rangers, Warriors, turret & grenade engineers, PU mesmers, condition removing guardians, all big team fights,.
Power Necromancers beat: turret engineers, non-hammer warriors, elementalists
Power Necromancers lose to: Rangers, grenade engineers, Thiefs, any big team fights, mesmers, hammer or berzerker warriors, anybody with a lot of stuns (and lich is useless against anybody with a ready boon strip)
Minion masters lose to: Anybody with AoE (and almost everybody has AoE)
A condition cleansing shout warrior does hardcounter a condition necromancer.
Their three shouts remove conditions, they have a fourth “free” shout from traits, their longbow fire field removes conditions, and their healing signet out heals your DPS.
Thieves hard counter power / berzerker necromancers.
Guardians are very difficult, and those pew pew rangers hard counter necromancers.
It is a bad time to play necromancer.
Necromancers need some of z-axis port, reflects, dodges… Because death shroud doesn’t cut it.
PS. I am not sure that condition necromancers are good at conditions. Other classes stack conditions much faster than necromancer. Necromancer’s advantage over condition classes used to be mass condition transfers, but these days you need all of your cleanses to counter immobilize spam. Necromancers aren’t so great a conditions these days and don’t hard counter other onditions classes anymore.

Unholy Sanctuary is fantastic. It doesn’t need any changes. It is godly in WvW, trivializes some PvE, and addresses a major weakness in Pvp.
Projectile finisher auto attack. Life Siphons that dont require traits…
Resistence is basically was Engineer auto immune response was.
Bet we see auto immune response changed to “x seconds of Resistence.”. This is a buff compared to what auto immune response is today but allows for counter play.
A good change if it happens and I think it will.
I expect something similar to happen to diamond skin.
I am slightly worried there might exist a skill (maintain this buff to keep up Resistence, cost 1-2 pips of energy). But even that has counter play if cast times are long enough as the Resistence can be stripped.
550 APs are always worth it if you ask me
Nah.
I’m in the same boat as OP, same 45/50, same number of titles. I’m also at the point where all of the easy AP is gone (#30 on NA leader boards).
For fifty lousy points I’d rather not bother with the most tedious aspects of Guild Wars 1.
I hope the twist EoTM to be the game’s mass PvpvE map.
I hope they insert a giant rewarding World Boss in the center of the map where the Aerherblades are.
Can you imagine trying to down the karma queen while tying to avoid being ganked at the same time…. That would be so fun,
EoTM isn’t WvW it shouldn’t try to be either.
I’m not worried about the new boon.
X seconds of The new boon will probably replace diamond skin on elementalist or auto-immune response on engineer. We’ll be able to corrupt it or wait it out. This is better than what we have now.
Berzerker stance on warrior look like it will not be changed, but it has a different effect than resistance (Total immunity to new conditions vs Timed immunity to all conditions but new conditions can still be applied to you).
Farming for items is today better than it has ever been. Silver wastes breach hopping plus chest farm + converting extra bandit crests to bandit bags dumps more items than anything we’ve ever seen that wasn’t an exploit.
Runes, Rares, Ectos, T6, precursors, sub 80 gear… Prices of these are all down. Prices for new gemstore skins are lower than during the height of key running. For most items, prices are cheaper today than ever.
The available sinks are controlling prices very well right now. OP is 100% wrong.
I think what’s going on today is that, in addition to all of the new supply, players are hoarding money so they will have a war chest for the expansion. The expansion will introduce items that will cost a small fortune, like a new minipet series or crafting the new legendaries.
I think demand for precursors dropped off a cliff once precursor collections & new legendary weapons were announced.
If there is a giant gold sink it is the huge supply of stuff still sitting on the market at yesterday’s prices. All of those TP fees and other related sinks… Gone. (Forever?)
Buy Luck ram lanterns… Upgrade them to exotic lucky ram lanterns… Profit!
Yeah, I suspect that the only change they’ll do to death should is change the skills.
If they are well played and keep their distance, they rek us.
Necromancers have no real ability to fight back (evn life blast does diminished damage at range). Necromancers also have no reflects and limited ability to dodge.
What you want to try to do is try to get line of sight to help you. In short range, simply running behind the ranger will cause skills to fail. At long range, you can avoid some damage by strafing back and forth against an untraited ranger.
Various walls force the ranger mid/close on most of the capture points on most of the maps. You shouldn’t have trouble with a close or mid ranged Ranger. You can also use these walls to “block” ranger damage.
So really you are only in trouble on Foefire (all points), Silent Storm (ranger camping above), Spirit Watch (capture points are fine but don’t run orb), and Kyhlo (side points, only if the ranger approaches from spawn). There are map specific strategies for all of these.
If you have minions, most rangers don’t trait piercing arrows and you can hide behind your flesh Wurm.
Or you can just eat the damage as long as you can.
A ranger who doesn’t fight on points is hurting his team. This is Much like “king of 1v1” invisibility mesmers, who can win the fight but can’t take or hold the point long and hurt their team.
It will take a ranger a long time to kill even a power necromancer. If you die but hold the point for a long time and the ranger can’t really hold the point against you…. Then that’s probably ok.
Necromancers are tanky condition users.
The Revenant’s F1 has a tanky mode and a condition mode. Necromancers also use F1 to “tank.” but the Revenants will have access to defense instead of life force derived HP.
