Culling Fix yay!/Excessive Effects boo!

Simple enough.
Knowing that culling will be removed…does this mean we’ll soon see a bigger problem of EVERY. SINGLE. PLAYERS. effects light up the screen like Fireworks and not be able to see much?

Will there be more options to turn down effects as well as player models? (I’ve played on low settings since launch and even effects at that level are still kinda all up in your face if you get caught in, a zerg)

In Short, What Would You Change in the PS?

- Want Trahearne to sacrifice himself to get the Caladbolg – which you then use on multiple branching quests near the end of the storyline.

- Have whoever was your mentor, become a fully fledged partner – diverge off the “Me-me-me” stuff and help them with a personal quests of their own. Perhaps right after the end of the PS. (Just like we look for details about our history in the first part of the PS related to the choices we made when making the character)

- Make Zhaitan actually more scary and troublesome than he appears on the final battle. He just stands still and rawrs a little. Why is he not swooping to attack the airship. Why is he not directly flying by and picking off allied NPC’s from the airship?

AC dungeon…on all levels, including story, needs to regulate damage for troll.

Actually managed to do storymode earlier this week, and he hit like a truck. He’s a bonus champion in the middle of a dungeon filled with bosses, and while his attack rotations aren’t as complex as the bosses, he actually does more damage than any boss in the dungeon.

It’s obvious that they tweaked it for Expl mode, but didn’t even take a gander at regulating the damage output for storymode (in relation to the rest of the bosses)

So 5 players got past it and 500 players can’t so it must be working as intended for a starter level 35 dungeon…

No one in my guild bothers with this thing anymore they all just ignore it, we run all sorts of dungeons but when you bring up AC it’s no no no… don’t bother it sucks and its not worth the hassle..

Amazing fixes i must say..

The explorable mode is not a starter dungeon. Why do people insist on this?

Technically, it is a “starter” dungeon. People make the assumption that this isn’t the first explore mode dungeon, which adds slightly different mechanics than that of storymode.

In all honesty, it should be the starting block for all low level characters on how the paths you take lead to different outcomes and what to expect from there on out since there’s no direct tutorial on how stuff works.

Fully understand where you’re coming from Mourningcry.

And no disrespect to the guild you mentioned, but if guildmembers aren’t willing to help our fellow members, then perhaps that’s a reflection of just what type of guild it is, and perhaps it best if a little effort be put into finding a more appropriate guild.

No harm done. TBH, I’m shifting guilds so often, so I’m going to make a move to another one since all the one’s I’ve previously represented aren’t really that helpful. been in 8 or so different guilds. Some good mannered (A month ago 2 other members waited for ~2 hours with me trying to find more people for another alt to do storymode, we gave up in the end because it was getting late) and some not so good, as mentioned previously. Most recently I’ve jumped on board and found a lot are even reluctant to do low level fractals. I have 2 80’s 1 60 and one 50 and am still on fractal level 2 because I took a break when FoTM was introduced. That too is one of those things that over time has segregated the playerbase…however that’s more of the dev’s bad call.

Putting the blame on the community, and their lack of co-opperation and support is weak, and inherently shows a lack of effort. Take the onus upon yourself and create the conditions you need to succeed, put in the effort there.

Maestro threw it out there, and he got the support he needed to prove his theory. He put forth the effort to get it done.

When Maestro first put out the challenge, I emailed him shortly after I saw it, as did a scant few others. When we made the run, I think the total guild membership created for that purpose had a dozen members. Others who didn’t make the run supported in other ways.

Part of the “effort” is to push through it until you get it done. If you join a group and get kicked, join another group. If your group disbands, start up another one. I’m not claiming this is easy, nor how it’s disheartening when it fails, but that’s part of the experience (for better or worse).

There are players out there that are willing to help. We’re not all elitests. However, we’re not always going to be the one’s to make the effort to seek out those that could use some help. But if found, we’re not likely to turn someone away.

I’m only highlighting a point you missed.
I could have easily said, “placing the blame on solo effort is a weak argument” but i didn’t because it makes sense and also I realised while it does require individual effort, dungeons are not an individual activity
As my example stated. I wanted to even do storymode, the effort was there…this was an alt, I kept looking out. I joined a guild soley described as PvE, friendly and helpful with doing lowbie dungeon runs. I was constantly willing, but was anyone else? Barely.

Let’s put it this way. Maestro made the effort to prove it was doable. Your effort and many other’s contributed to this. All I was saying is that it is NOT just a solo effort. Maestro could not have done it without you and the rest, and you and the rest would not be proving anyone wrong if you didn’t have the effort of Maestro wanting to prove people wrong.

On Maestro’s run: There’s a difference between doing a run as 35+’s for experimental purposes and doing it in your normal, every-day playtime, also we’ll add to this that the post was made nearly a week before the run took place.
So waiting a handful of days to do one run is normal? When people were talking about waiting hours to get a group or into WvW, they just must have been all impatient then?

I never said you guys were elitist, or event imply that. I am only pointing out in the grand scheme of things, will this change player’s perception of the fact that 35’s are still as viable and valuable as 80’s. Sure, you and your group involved in this may be completely welcoming to new players or people willing to learn the dungeon format for the first time, but you have to remember…you are one group and there is a significant minority of those groups around. The more people spread out the notion that 80’s are – on a playerbase level – better for AC runs, then that will continually snowball and guilds will become more reluctant because it’s “just how it is”.

TL;DR: Effort in a group dungeon is not a defined as “individual effort” and requires effort of other people too! (You should know this!!!!!!!). This is a question of whether the general playerbase will change it’s opinion on the stigma of “only 80’s plz”. This is not criticising anyone’s effort for the experiment.

I think AC EXP is fine as it is but they should change the story mode. Maybe they should reward running story with some tokens too. This could lead to a more helpful playerbase because more experienced players would not think about a story run as a waste of time and therefore are more willing to help lesser experienced ones.

What I wouldn’t give for a constant 8~12 tokens per storymode reward. It’d make SO much sense to put that in as a real introduction to tokens. That way, you still get significantly more on expl modes, but storymode can still be rerun over and over by lower levels for exp, karma, and tokens.

I mean, look at the AC token vendor…how many times have you bought anything from the lower level gear tab? That’s totally catered for a low level token requirement, so using that for story-mode will help let lowbies gain the AC lower set, get their feet wet with tokens, vendors and armour-set bonuses, at the same time giving them gear that makes them more beneficial to a team in expl mode because of the increased damage to ghosts.

@Mourningcry. I think you should note that effort AND other player’s cooperation are the gatekeepers.

Let’s not forget, you may have the effort but if no-one is willing to help you do a run and be willing to stand by you through the aforementioned wipes, retries, and struggles then there is no chance for you. As I’ve said before, even with evidence that 35+’s can achieve a run, the stigma still remains that “if you’re low levelled, you’re not much of a benefit to the group”

That’s always a factor that people leave out. Cooperation from other players. With kicking from parties, all 4warrior+1mes teams, and 80’s only “fast runs”, you’ll have less and less time to experience the dungeon at the required level. Now we’ve established that 35’s can do it, we have to establish whether or not the community will change it’s stance and if those extra traits create that big of a gap between allowing or pushing away a low leveller.

People talking about redoing the story mode probably have never asked someone in the last 24 hours if they want to do storymode. I joined a guild that said they were pve friendly and liked doing runs with lowbies….I wanted to test my necro in the AC environment and NO-one would want to join me…so I ended up not doing it until I reached ~60.
Again, this is all about player perception and cooperation. How the hell are you going to do a story-mode when so few people want to join and do one too? How do you gain experience?

It’s always that catch 22. People will hardly let you join so you can gain experience, but in order to gain experience you need to have people let you join them.

If anything, the PVE game is more alive than ever. Queensdale has overflows again, which has to do with Behemoth. These 80s help out lower levels though. Even in mid-level zones it is normal to meet up people while Orr has been revitalized by rebalancing some mobs. GW2 is the best PVE MMO in the world, and only becomes better.

True…it’s more active, but it’s less about 80’s wanting to help low levels out….it’s because Behemoth is now fixed after about 5 months of it being broken. It’s active because of Last Rest exotic and the crescent-moon blade(?) drops which have been absent from the game, ….because behemoth dropped it and it’d been bugged! And since you’re guaranteed a rare, when you weren’t before, everyone’s now doing the major events because they actually give something decent.

Sales: online stores have sales all the time. GW1 had year round sales too… No ground for a conspiracy. The daily sales coincides well with the daily laurels. People now have a reason to open the gem store every day. That drives revenue, whether or not the sale is relevant to the player.

Sales are verified by the marketing companies of the game. TERA went on a drastic sale well before news was announced it was loosing players and planning a transition to F2P. Steam also does this – it’s always based off the developer’s discretion. (Read up the Steam vs Origin stuff that happened a while back. EA said that steam basically sells off games at a cheap price point which devalues games….Steam came back at EA saying that actually, all games on sale are only on sale because of developer choice, not steam – Steam is simply a store-front for them) Ever wonder why that Mario Galaxy never went down in price in the space of 8 months but a dozen other games did? = Developer choice.

- Troll is basically supercharged. My group had trouble killing him because he always arrives at the worst locations, (while being ganked by kholer and his minions or set of archers just before Nente etc). I have no idea why they changed his “melee range attack” to a bouncing projectile that hits like a truck.

Other criticisms aside, this is probably the part of the dungeon that rather irks me. It’s a troll. Why is it throwing bouncing lightning balls!? All in all, he’s not that hard to defeat but it gets more trickier since kiting is ineffective. The fear is cool, the shockwaves alright but why is he flinging lightning!?!

Exactly my thoughts too…and don’t they apply bleed too? Kinda OTT.
The fear is a good little addition but it’s not really an ideal skill to place on a boss that appears where you’re in close quarters and there are ledges you can fall off that can reset the encounter

I also found out that blind doesn’t work on his bolt attacks. My build had 3 blinds I could apply right off the bat, yet I was still getting hit.

I have not fully watched the vid (at work), but I will say;

Firstly – I hold my hands up and admit, I was one of the nay-sayers. Thank you Maestro and the rest of the group for proving me, and many others wrong – even if at least a partial proving (some may say experienced 80’s running alts will not be the same as normal 35’s running it for the 2nd time in all of their playtime)
Even on Saturday night, I tried it out with my lvl40 thief, while it wasn’t too much of a problem for me due to the thief’s slippery-ness, and evasion techniques, there were other classes that had more of an issue staying up.

On my second point these were the key things we noticed about the general difficulty scaling for specific parts of the dungeon:

- Troll is basically supercharged. My group had trouble killing him because he always arrives at the worst locations, (while being ganked by kholer and his minions or set of archers just before Nente etc). I have no idea why they changed his “melee range attack” to a bouncing projectile that hits like a truck.

- We tried Kholer a number of times, and while he wasn’t a problem, trying to get rid of his minions were for us. In the end we skipped him. Why? Because again, as always, he was not worth the time and effort to take down. He still needs a new re-design that makes him a FUN boss. I’d prefer a more hectic summoning of multiple mobs like the mini-boss before King Adleburn’s first dialouge cuscene in AC story. Not alot of HP, but a ton of necro’s, monks and elementalists throwing down AOE’s and reflections meaning you have to franticly clear them up. (imagine, the spawn rates of Graveling burrows, but it spawns ascalon ghosts!)…Hey, they could even make kholer do a Nente and teleport to higher ground (there are a few ledges in the centre area) and spawn waves of mobs etc. I don’t know..ANYTHING but what it is now.

- Last boss = Better mechanics for teamwork – worse mechanics for AI. Boss bugged out numerous times, even so much that while I was still in an “engaged state” with boss, he just ran to the centre of the area and reset. It takes a bit too long for a normally spec’ed group to whittle him down. It’s almost right, just a tad too long in my opinion.

The real question now I guess is: Will 80’s stop being closed-minded and bring in more 35+’s?
…Because, as much as it’s a wakeup call for lower levels that they can complete it, it’s also a wake up call for 80’s to say it’s not as hard they think.

I’m gonna go ahead and say his tastes are wrong.

Have you seen a worse color combination?

No one ever did. Yellow and blue sucks. Blue and yellow, on the other hand… Cyclops had it going on.

LOL. MAH BAD!!!

Now I remember, it was the whole (good) xmen bunch from the series that had Blue and yellow besides Xavier and Storm. Even lame Jubilee had a Blue and Yellow outfit.

The one thing i’ve learnt since launch is:
When ANet start talking in absolutes, I don my sceptic hat.

The game’s good, and has it’s major flaws besides it’s tech – Devs that are great with hyping up things, but fumble with execution in contrast.

That the wrong use of absolute they are using it at the end of the phrase so they mean they will try to fix it. This dose not mean they will for sure fix it. Its worth the hype this is a good game most games at this level of complexly takes years to fix out every thing.

You’re right. I meant to say “When ANet starts talking in definite’s”.
Fingers wrote faster than my mind could grab the right word.

Reading this:

Is what I mean when I say they’re definite culling will be resolved when they “flip the switch”

I hope it does fix the problem, but it’s hard to gauge if it will work as intended, or if it will bring more problems.

I have learned that your changes to the game are very methodical and thought through – you do not have “knee-jerk reactions”.

I agree with your whole post in total, but I just wanted to single this out. This is the aspect of their development strategy that I feel gets the least recognition.

Perhaps…because it’s holds true in some places but not so well in others.
(ie: Dungeon changes are bit by bit. Addition of DR was across the board in one go. Both are big changes in their own right, but one was done quite abruptly and the other is being done bit by bit)

I’ve also noticed that, yet again, the goalposts have been shuffled backwards a little. Now the story is four months long? It was originally a Jan/Feb patch, then they pushed it back to being just a teaser for Jan and Feb/March would be the bulk of the patch. Now, everything up to now was just “teaser” stuff, and the real bulk of the content is for March and April. If this patch isn’t significantly large and we’re later told that it was just more “teaser” material, I’m going to be extremely disappointed. Just be honest with us, guys….if you need to push content back, push it back and then tell us that you needed more time. Simple. Don’t overhype the patch as being huge if it’s not huge.

Colin went on record saying that after the rush of the Lost Shores and Halloween patches, they’ve switched back to a “when it’s ready” model of development.

Expect more delays with higher quality releases going forward.

Other than that, we’ve known Flame and Frost was a 4 part series since the second week of February.

Are we talking about the living story being set at a “when it’s ready” status or just the patches in general…

I say this because since October and November, patches have been consistently in an “un-ready” state…. and if that’s what they consider ready then I fear what the perfect patch would be like.

I did ac p1 with a lvl 30. Any mob did hit me for 80% of my hp some 1 hit.
but one attack from me hitted for 2% of their hp. i felt like i just leeched trough the whole thing. And not surprisingly i died a lot. i was doing this with my guild. until you provide evidence on this i simply don’t believe you. its easy to see why everyone favor lvl 80s for this dungeon.
If you are going AC use a lvl 80 character or you’re going to be the weak link that don’t contribute at all.

Using a level 30 character is going to severely kitten you. A level difference of 5 between you and enemy mobs is going to ensure that almost every attack you make is a Glancing Blow, which does 50% damage in addition to the reduced damage you’d do to them with a level 30’s attack rating against a level 35’s armor. Use a level 35 character that’s properly geared, then come back and talk.

(Just based on trait’s alone) You agree 5 levels difference will screw you, but you disagree that a 45 level difference doesn’t?

…….Wait, what?

Edit: Yeah, I know he talked about 2% attacks, aka – glancing blows, but since he’s not 7 levels higher than the mobs, so not all attacks will be glancing. And we have to remember that these mobs are highly tuned, while an attack from a mob 5 levels higher than you may not kill you in ~1-2 hits in general PvE, dungeon mobs will wreck havoc on even same-levelled opponents.

If a scaled down 80 can do it with less trouble than a 35 – in a dungeon that should be catered for 35 (If they weren’t catered for 35’s then there’d be no point for level scaling to 35 at all), then what solution can a player make besides levelling to 80 and adding to cycle of end level players doing entry level dungeons.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t add any weight to the argument that a team of 35’s wouldn’t be able to do it as a team of 35’s

Having 2 80’s can help greatly. Especially if they’re one of the most desired classes (guardian, warr, mes)

the rapid pace of the Lost Shores event caused much forum discussion

The final event from Lost Shores itself was of a single time-frame. THAT is what people were up in arms about, not so much about the build-up before that date.

Consider the effective time-period the game is set in and the unreliability of verbal comunication.

I was thinking about that too…but then saw we have asura gates, and WP. (The understanding is that the Asura built it for ease of travel, so it’s not restricted to just us players)
While WP costs money, it’s still a little strange that refugees fleeing from a tragic event wouldn’t want to get out of that area PRONTO and ask for funding to assist rather than just walk it out to the nearest town and risk getting attacked by the many, many threats in the open world, including the allied dredge and flame legion.

If we ground that in reality, it’s like a town being hit by a storm continually thats progressing south, and you pass by someone and they say, “Oh, we don’t need anything, we just want you to tell people to walk, yes, walk to the nearest town. it may take days to get there but there’s a camp. Buses on fast routes?…Trains?.. Evacuation planes/helis?… No need. kthxbai”

Yet a full evacuation at the fastest means possible is what most disaster control is about.

The biggest and frankly inexcusable flaw in writing is that we never get to directly ask the refugees themselves what the threat is. How did their homes collapse? Where are their homes? Guild Wars 2 boasts that there are no ‘off-screen’ locations or actions, yet we never see the actual destruction this unnamed threat unleashed. We’ve seen a few geyser-related dynamic events, but unless they opened up directly below someone’s house, how would they pose a threat? Instead of chasing story crumbs, we chase broken signs and dead refugees. One would think our priority would be looking for survivors.

Read my mind, Faceless.

I stood around wayfarer foothills wondering “..err…where are all these refugee’s from exactly? Isn’t all the housing in the home districts anyway?”
In the Wayfarer foohill alone, you only have a handful of houses, of that which belong to hearts or dynamic event starters, every else is tents (where the svanir keep warm…cold…you know what I mean), keeps, and …thats it.

I cant imagine Kennek’s homestead housed a few dozen people in their half a dozen bedded home.

I always thought that if you’re trying to connect with an audience, simply telling them “bad juju is happening” and regard it as having being done offscreen, is never, ever as effective as seeing it and being within that turmoil.

DR was to curb normal farmer’s intake of loot. It’s pretty obvious. DR on dungeons was the defining factor to showing who they were really targeting and for what reason.
It’s in their best interest to make it longer to get to a legendary, craft high level gear, to get the gear you want from dungeons, take longer to get gold, for people not to do speedrun etc etc etc…the list goes on.

Bots just bot. What they collect in a day is what they collect in a day – They don’t care because they often don’t lose out on time+effort, and so “grind” is irrelevant to them, so DR is irrelevant to them.

A different approach of events

nethykins.7986

Great suggestion.

We may as well add non-specific times to dynamic events. Have it fluctuate based on player’s actions of areas related to that event chain.

For example:
Mob camp across the field from a small town
If players actively run into the mob camp, attacking their supplies and killing the commanders/elder (multiple vets or 1 champion) then they’ll take longer to rally together and go on the offensive because, well, when that event starts, the commander/elder would be actively sending troops across the field to over-run the small town.

Obviously, it’d only be “dynamic” if some variables are thrown in like
- Champion stays at the camp until the last push for the small town, but you can go to that camp and kill him
- Killing the Champion early makes mobs attack in a less linear fashion, switching agro constatly. (this is within the limitation of their AI)
- Allowing the champion to send all waves out before being killed makes the event take a little longer to reset.
- Killing the champion in the camp early makes event spawn slightly quicker (they don’t need to recruit a whole unit as would have happen if you killed all waves of attacks on the small town, they just need to “promote” some mobs to vet and champ status)

There’s a whole ton of ideas that could be added or improved in relation to dynamic events, to actually make them “dynamic” but, it’s pretty much just chasing a dream. The team at ANet may fix broken events, and make them slightly fairer, but they won’t overhaul them to the degree we’re talking about.

Improving Flame+Frost from P.Story?[spoilers]

Knowing what we know about our Personal story, and what it entailed, I was one of many that was utterly disappointed.

Mainly because it turned from the epicly grand, and lavish opening with “This is my Story”, in addition with a great opening boss battle…which then soon turned into an errand boy/errand girl simulator for Saladhe…ahem…Trahearne.

So, with Flame and Frost on our doorstep, the possibility of returning NPC allies and villians and an longer drawn out over-arching “living” story, what key things would you like to see/not like to see in the living story that you may have come across in the personal story?

Just a sentence per person will do. cheers

Mine:
Avoid NPC characters making players do all the work and get given no praise from said NPC

You are focusing too much on a certain part of the game. All you need in this game is a set of masterwork gear and then you can tackle the entire game. Just don’t try to 1vs1 in WvWvW, that’ll doom you.

I’m not too sure your being clear on what part to focus on besides what he’s said.

…hes focusing on a majority of the game as it stands.

  • He covered dailies – Focusing on casual play
  • He covered Guild Missions – Focusing on guilds
  • He covered Dungeon runs – Focusing on regular to hardcore players
  • He covered Dragons/chest events – That’s for generally anyone in the req level range.

The only thing he hasn’t mentioned is personal story – but really, very very few people like it.

Just thinking aloud here, so it might be a terrible idea…but hows this: revert the dragon chests to how they were. But implement an account based ‘daily chest’ for each major world boss. Like in fractals. These daily chests would give you, like, 2 guarenteed rares or above.

+1gazillion

I really don’t know why they didn’t do this. It seems the most beneficial for everyone. Give rare on first, and lame loot afterwards, that way people would Still. Do. Events. after completing one.

The crazy thing is, like you mentioned. It’s already a system in place now. Also, kills of big world event participation/daily completion are being tracked, so this isn’t all new tech, or tech limitations to resolve the issue.

Just a few points:
1 – I do feel sorry for those people’s home server’s being over-run by guesters and causing them issues.

2 – ANet spent a lot of time on this feature so it’s quite unlikely that they’ll just nip it at the bud because of this.

3 – You’ll probably see things changed on the loot side. Mostly account bound DR will be cranked up.

The problem with point 3 is, this will turtle players into not doing events at all if it becomes worthless, then you’ll have a sharp decline of players that want to do the events at all. People will jump back onto fractals or dungeons depending on if the loot in those areas are good and you’ll have the same empty zone areas we had a few months back.

In all honesty, there is no real priority. The priority seems to shift wildly…. It’s quite evident from pre-release to 6 months in, the game is just kinda veering sharply from patch to patch.

However, I have noticed anything to do with TP or economy are always on top while it seems that profession balance is always at the bottom.

Getting a second copy of GW2.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: nethykins.7986

nethykins.7986

In the UK it actually costs more to buy 5 more slots than it does to buy a whole new copy of GW2.

5 Slots = 4000 Gems = £42.50
New copy (5 slots) = Amazon £34.60/GAME £37.99 (but currently on sale for £27.99)/Play.com £36.00

Quite a bit more to pay for the perks for having stuff shared across the account and not having multiple emails to manage them. However, if you’re a real alt-aholic, and want to keep making those alts, you’re better off buying a new copy and of course prices from those other sites will continually depreciate as time passes (it commonly happens) and so you could end up getting a lot more for your money by waiting a few months then going and buying that extra copy. Either way, purchase is a purchase. It’s just up to you whether you want to pay more or less for the added benifits.

Repeating a fractal takes time and some amount of skill. Repeating a dragon event means standing there with a zerg and getting a reward for a few minutes of your time and pretty much no real effort. And the reward you get from the dragons is actually more than you’d get from running a fractal. You get at last 3 items, and in many cases more. So it’s like running three fractals or an entire level.

Understandable that guys and gals that decide to grind fractals and dungeons can do that all they like, but thats just one playstyle.

This isn’t too far from stamina systems that get implemented to other MMO’s as a way to stop them from overfarming. That’s pretty much the same reasoning here – not about getting to venture other areas.
I wonder if you’d be cool with getting chests on only the first dungeon run of the day, and one chest for the first fractal of the day and then get told by people running dragons and chest events that “well, you deserve it…because your playstyle is too much”

Why didn’t they just curb chest rewards. (IE: The sacred DR system – do the event more than once you chance for rares are gone….you still blues and maybe greens, like the old chests used to produce)

I don’t understand what people are complaining about, before you could do Maw maybe 10 times or more and you would get with luck a couple rares and maaaybe an exotic, now you can only run Maw once per character but you have a really good chance of getting a couple of rares and probably an exotic, it’s win/win for everyone…

A few rares…in 10 runs…before the patch…
What game were you playing?…Never happened to me.

Just wondering why they didn’t put an alternative to the chest, like getting more karma when redoing the same event (IIRC you get them for redoing renown hearts but not for dragons), or worse drops, zone appropriate crafting mats only/low tiered upgrade components. So many different variations could have been added instead of just choking chests straight away.

Reconsideration of Explorable Recommended lvl

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Simple reason against your idea: it does nothing except block access from people who CAN do the dungeon at the minimum required level. Key word; minimum.

I agree…That’s a fair point.
Then again, it’s no different from a majority of LFG posts on GW2LFG.com requesting 80s for a 35 dungeon, or incredibly reluctant to add a few to the party.

With added damage or difficulty for each dungeon of the lower levels that may arise in later changes, this eventually becomes 80’s only by law of players based off changes made by devs.

As I said, the changes that make something significantly harder, will be a challenge for 80’s but it’s a little overkill for 35’s. Either they make the recommended levels higher, or completely revamp the way scaling is done for dungeons (remove traits from 80’s to match that of a level 35)

Reconsideration of Explorable Recommended lvl

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: nethykins.7986

nethykins.7986

Hey all,

After taking a look at people’s feedback from the changes to AC I noticed a pretty big trend.
- Nearly all were feedback from Level 80’s
- Found the content challenging to them (being scaled down from 80 to 35)

Obviously, there’s a big difference between an 80 and 35 when you’re only scaling attributes since the trait-lines are quite a defining difference.

In light of the upcoming changes that are soon to come to other dungeons I think there needs to be a change in the recommended/required level ranges for each of these dungeons, I mean, let’s be frank – the changes wern’t directed towards those 35’ers that just managed to get through it at a normal pace. It was directed to those 80’s in rares/exotics that often blitzed everything as fast as they could.

So why not just turn the recommended level to something like 60 (when you can get the final trainer book and can start being on par with those lvl 80s) and push more encouragement towards storymodes for those players below that level.

Funnily enough, applying chill causes more slowdown than cripple. But cripple’s main goal is to limit speed, while freezing has alternative benifits.

So I can only do Jormag once a day ?

You can do Jormag as many times as you’d like… but you only get rewards for the first time. Every other time looks like the only thing you get is whatever you find from trash mobs and the exp/karma/gold for completing the event.

You can also do it on an alt and get full rewards.
So 1 main + 4 alts = 5 chests per day per world boss

Agreed. This isn’t so much a case with Jormag since it’s an 80 dragon and so you’re kinda expected to be 80 so at least your gear won’t be level 60 rares…unless you’re a brave lvl 60 alt doing a 80 dragon.

But doesn’t that make you think…if you’ve just logged to an alt for the same means of getting the chest drop from the same dragon, 3 hours later…what’s the point of locking it out at all per character?
If it’s only making you change alts instead of changing locations, then it’s not fulfilling the means it was introduced for.
