I think if this turns from talk to reality it would save the game for me. As it is, it’s just boring running into zerg after zerg after zerg and only getting a good fight once an hour if we’re lucky. I love the gameplay of GW2, but the design is horrid. If we can get one tier to have some good competition, I think this game can be great fun. The tier that we get this going on will still have some zerg(s)… it’s not something we can get rid of completely. But if there are enough competitive small mans running around, it could make this game actually worth playing. Otherwise, the fun isn’t really there for a lot of us. So lets make this happen!

I run in zergs.
I run solo and win 1vx fights. I lose in them too! omygosh
I jump in and fight 10 enemies with only 1 other person with me.
I run from people sometimes.
I stand on towers and taunt.
I gank.
I run with small groups who take on huge groups of less coordinated players and win.
I run with small groups who take on other small groups and sometimes win sometimes lose sometimes run sometimes end up chasing..
I run into towers when I’m low hp if one is near..
I pvdoor.
Now I even pve an hour or two a day!
I party with enemy servers and have duels.
I party with enemy servers and talk smack.
I sit spam ppl for lulz.

I probably missed some fun activities in that list.. But lets quit kittening and get back to posting awesome wvw vids pls. kitten I wish my PC wasn’t a POS or I would make my own.

Nor did he say all the time. It’s obvious you guys have small groups out there sometimes too. The difference is we don’t run around with those 15+. Sometimes we just run into the zerg or they run into us. I have no problem with you guys zerging and helping the server, I’d rather you not but w/e. I know who my new recruits are, I don’t think they would run from a good, fair fight. Might want to pan behind you though to see if you are running in the zerg. They might be running from that.

It’s funny how when some people are mad they go right to the “you’re bad” card. I think you’re a good player and run the best specc that fits your play style (only time I ever see you is when you’re solo). XOXO has lost plenty times to PAXA, so saying that we aren’t a challenge kinda goes against you… dying to bad players and all.

Also, only time I have run from a fair fight has been when I’ve had a phone call in the middle of a fight. Our groups have never run from a fair fight. Funny how you bring that up though. Hypocrisy is a pretty big pet peeve of mine.

I guess we can agree to disagree. There’s a video you can try to count the numbers. I never said it was an insanely outnumbered fight, and it is extremely rare to ever have a straight up even fight. Regardless though, you had the upper hand in the people department.

If I remember correctly there was a guild that tried to come wipe fight club when we were down there one time and we beat them all the way back to their spawn point over and over. I will give them this they were persistent thats for sure.

That’s not true. It’ll be a very long fight and either player can easily reset the fight/run away… but a good ranger won’t destroy a confusion mesmer. In fact, the mesmer will usually win if it goes uninterrupted for long enough.

Bump for the AoN guy who thinks higher tier servers = higher % skilled players. I also have a question… I see some players from the [MAN] guild that used to be on AR in the AoN guild. Same guild? Come on back down where there’s less zergs, more small roaming groups and fight us. Talk all you want while you’re on a different tier.

I don’t want to sound like I’m trash talking [MAN], they were definitely good fights. But if you, Covenant, were part of the MAN groups, you really have no room to speak about the skill level of t7 small roaming groups as MAN lost plenty of even-ish fights.

Yes, is is extremely unfair when guilds like SPCA, XOXO and PAXA run around with buffs. These guys run around in good groups filled with good players running good builds. These are the types of guys that do not have much issue in the vast majority of fair fights. I only stated that like a fact because they have some better players than me and I do alright. A large part of the point and fun in pretty much any game is in the challenge it provides and skill it requires; using buffs lowers both of those. What’s the fun in making it so good and close fights aren’t as close as they would have been? What skill does it take to nearly half conditions applied to you because you farmed some nodes or used the trading post?

It would be one thing if XOXO, SPCA and PAXA were the type of players that needed an extra edge, but they aren’t. Who cares if 98% of people in WvW use buffs? A lot of those people need an extra edge because they’re trash. I beat most people I fight anyway, but I should make the game less amusing by making all those fights easier? Every time I run into someone good I should take some of the fun away by making the fight easier? kitten that. Call buffs smart, fair or whatever. I’ll be the idiot that handicaps himself for better fights.

I’m probably not going to debate the subject beyond this post because I doubt any replies will be worth a response. I just hope I explained things better to some people.

It’s because those people you mentioned (and others) are normally fighting 3-1 or 5-1 odds. To say they shouldn’t use every available option to combat those odds is just asinine.

I don’t mean it in an insulting kind of way and in no means do I want to start another PAXA flame war, but don’t you think it is time to hang up the “Zergs are bad” gig and just accept that this is the way WvW was supposed to be organized? Especially when you really have no experience in commanding or being a part of an organized large group of people which many mistake for a zerg (Brainless, unskilled minions).

You and your friends have often commented on the skill of some of our members in smaller fights and many times, it is those members leading the pushes and charges in our larger organized group fights.

Some of your members are even friends with our roamiest types of members.

So how can you say those same members are bads pressing 1 in a zerg when they clearly show a larger skill set in smaller fights. You don’t think they apply themselves in larger fights as well?

Just food for thought.

I click 1 and tab in zergs because I don’t have to do anything else. I consider myself a good player. I don’t have to be in a zerg.

Thats what interests you guys in WvW right? Not point total or winning but finding “fair fights” right? Testing your skills against another group of players.
Seems to me spvp would be perfect for that. 5v5 and theres no chance of a zerg steamrolling you.

If that’s what you think sPvP and tPvP are like, you likely haven’t played any. It takes 2 to tango, so to speak, at least in WvW there is the slight chance that a 5v5 will occur. There is no chance for a 5v5 to occur in tPvP and there is an even slighter chance than WvW in sPvP. I wish there was a place for competitive people to go to that was fun, but there is a reason why GW2 as a “competitive” game (that they were shooting for) has failed and is failing. I do hope that they can bring it back though!

Thanks Lanny! I just had the opportunity of fighting Seven Mirror since HoD and SF are fighting each other, he handed me my kitten in a few duels. Was lots of fun, wish I would have remembered to put bandicam on. Maybe he got the footage of destroying me. I kinda want to go back to a phantasm specc to see how that would stack up to him 1v1. I like this one a lot for larger group play though! I’ll post some more videos hopefully in the future!

We don’t have queues. And you can hear it from any of the big guilds on NSP they have tons of respect for XOXO. Because we don’t ONLY run around pvp’ing, we also do a lot for the server, most of us spend a lot of time playing and we only WvW so we tend to switch roles quite a bit.

People seem to lump PAXA and XOXO as one in the same, and as much as I like PAXA and respect the way they want to play.. We are completely different in our attitudes in WvW.

True, I find it funny that when people are kitten they just lump everyone into the same category, even within the same guild. Like in one of the last threads where someone from [PVP] assumed I had made comments I never made and it was someone else.

PAXA and XOXO do have different outlooks on WvW. We don’t care at all about points, but do take towers and camps to draw enemies, in turn giving out server a good amount of points. The difference between us is that XOXO will run around with the zerg at times (nothing wrong with that) while PAXA will go somewhere else if we converge with one of HoD’s zergs. That kitten es people off that we won’t run with them, but they have to realize that it’s not that we aren’t helping our server, we just go get points somewhere else if we don’t run into some enemies along the way (that are most likely going to kill the zerg we just parted from).

Some people recognize the benefits that small teams like us give, others just get offended by it. ’Tis the way of WvW.

Confusion is great against people who decide to actually fight you. Not so great for people who decide to not attack, as mesmers really don’t have any sort of stopping power and anyone can really get away if they wanted to.

Overall, it is very powerful. If nerfed, I think something would have to be added to it to make it at least semi-viable.

I know, I have a lot to learn. I’m not really good at this WvW stuff and am still trying to learn. All the WvW videos I see have clicking in it so I’m trying to switch over and blow all my utilities at the same time. I’m still trying to get used to not using my weapon abilities as much but that’s something I’ll just have to learn as I go. My play is by no means perfect, and it fails me many times (I just edited the video for the parts where it worked really well). I think I’m getting better but I have a long way to go!
