WwW roaming is mostly about either hard hitting burst spec ( static discharge- but it’s really too glassy without enough disengages, i wouldn’t recommend it outside of some fun nights) or tank-ish condi specs. I used to ran a condi 6/0/0/4/4 nades/tk/ elixir s or r roamer, with a mix of different condi stats and 2 berserker trinkets i believe, did the job quite well. If you’re roaming in a small group or solo, i’d say buy an exotic condi set, be it a mix of rabid, dire, or whatever. IF you’re zerging, well engis aren’t quite good at it, but a mix of berserker and ptv to not die of retal instantly would probably work.
iirc, i aimed at 35% crit chance, 1k7-1k8 power and a moderate high condition damage.
Dagger/focus helps. Try going 6/6/0/0/2, you loose a 10% modifier but you still get the usual support expected from an ele; keep in mind it’s indeed a difficult class and dying after a long fight is totally normal for an average player. Try to use fire 3 as an evade, even if it’s a bit unreliable ( there’s half the animation not dodging), and take arcane shield maybe. Then it’s the usual job of blinding trash ( sandstorm ( not darude), lightning hammer) mitigating projectiles ( air 4, earth 2, earth 4) and using your obsidian flesh efficiently. Finding efficient pugs helps, obviously. Especially a good guardian giving aegis to the whole group at the right moment and not just for himself.
You want to aim at 62% crit chance (20% from fury, +8% from disc banner, 10% from traits) if you’re not running with a ranger ( in that case i swap my rifle to berserker instead of assassin- cba with berserker trinkets) since engis have a lot of on crit effects, getting to 100% crit chance is a dps increase over a bit more power, especially since you already have 300+ power with 30 points in explosives.
Support is irrelevant? Where’s my 5 necros speedclear?
Ascended armor is a really small dps boost and is only useful in fractals, where you want to be zerker anyway.
Edit: as an engi assassin would be better*
Mace is viable but often outshined by sword. For your other topic, torch is garbage.
Mace is nearly the same dps as sword but is also light field spam-heavy, use it when you need the extra block.
yeah, Cms like it
AC what you did there*
not sure for ac because of the burrows ( i guess it’s doable with a good gear and maybe sending your pet ccing the mobs around hodgings? ), but everything else should be. I’m not experienced much with ranger but i solo’d arah P2, P3 isn’t a problem, and i can’t see any other mechanics preventing a ranger to complete it ( except sword aa, wich makes things incredibly annoying)
cool story brah
hmm.
“only asuras with golem elite” when those things bugged out
“war/guard/mes”
“no necros” opened by a necro
“lf 1 support guard” that was in coe, 4 warriors advertising that. I’m pretty sure support meant cleric or something like that.
“NO NOOBS P1 SPEEDRUN LV 79+” by that level 79 guy.
Those are the most commons/ the ones i remember the most, but there’s always a tragic lfg going on if you pay attention.
Daggerstorm on a 8 sec cooldown? For some reasons I feel like it’s a bit too much.
There’s a lot of P/P thieves playing on low level servers www, along with at least 1/3 of rangers, and even if it’s not viable in 1v1, it’s still annoying as hell. It’s just a longbow ranger with more damage and less range. Good thing is just like longbow rangers, they all spam 3 and forget to dodge, so they are easy preys, but P/P shouldn’t be buffed. Well, no ranged attacks should be buffed, this game was supposed to reward melee.
it’s like a spirit weapon guardian talking about balance.
3/10, i laughed but it lacked a nerf thief/warrior quote, and a sarcastic shout to anet how you can’t play how you want. Anyway, necros have indeed flaws, but that’s not a reason to not play one.
ft is good for its number 2 off cooldown and the extra fire field when playing with a lh ele. You shouldn’t use the auto attack, never.
Don’t gear for eotm. If you want an ascended armor, craft a berserker one, as it only matters in fractals.
6/6/0/0/2, aim 63% crit chance so assassin armor+ berserker trinkets or 2 assassin trinkets and 3 assassin armor, rest is berserker. Rifle usually, switch to p/s for extra might and a block for difficult content.
It happened before on huge laggy battles, but now that the lag is consistent everywhere, steal misses 1/3. This isn’t thief specific, mesmers, eles, necros have it with their own teleports, and more rarely any movment skill such as guardian leap of faith or warrior savage leap, but it screws up a thief every time it happens.
For what it’s worth I also agree with DonQuack.
ranger for pvp related content and either ranger/ scholar for pve. i’d stick with ranger ( even though i’m using scholar myself) because crafting 2 different sets for a 3% more multiplier and more power/ less precision isn’t worth it. And yes, they work with minis, pets, phantasms.
You can always try sending a ticket to anet, but in that particular case I doubt they would refund you.
The real elitists in this game are PHIW.
Also bingo.
I guess it’s for pve?
This is not the best damaging build, but you’ll be expected to bring it in parties:
6/6/2/0/0, scepter/focus or scepter/dagger lightning hammer or staff. Sadly non lh/staves ( d/f, basically) specs kind of died last patch because most comps aren’t as ele heavy as before and their role has changed a bit. The 6/6/2 still has totally respectable damage, along with great offensive support via persisting flames and weak spot. scepter/hammer is more team oriented, staff is more personal dps.
Ranger Warhorn 5 grants Might and Fury to the entire party, but doesn’t deal any direct damage itself. So, if a player wants to increase their personal DPS and appear to “pull their weight,” they must never use it — even though it would greatly benefit the party and increase everyone’s overall damage-dealing potential.
GW2 has all kinds of skills like this, with more complicated potential benefits hidden through support and buffs, or combo fields and finishers. Appealing to a raw personal damage meter as a measure of player ability or who is “pulling their weight” is incredibly myopic. You sound like you do not understand this game at all, much less sound like someone anyone would want to play with.
It is none of your business, how much DPS other party members are doing. If you don’t like playing with random people or don’t feel like most people are as “good” as you, find a hardcore guild and party up with them.
And you sound like one of the people that fears being booted for low contributions or performance. Plus, if they are in my party, then yes it is my business. Your way of reasoning is very selfish. What you’re basically saying is yeh, i’ll join your party but I’ll do the hell what I like and no suggestions, hints, advice or directions from other party members are welcome. Who wants to party up with someone like that?
I’ve never been booted from a party in any game for a low DPS, and you know, I still don’t want the kitten thing.
Not all good players need be elitists. Some of us don’t mind teaching…or even carrying…others.
Wait, can’t you teach in a dps setup? Because there’s a lot of “elitists” helping new people in gw2. Or did I misunderstood?
Anyway, nay, a dps meter would lead to bad behaviors, like all pug guards running 5/6/2/0/0/2 or any more damaging option that suits instead of the support 5/4/0/0/4, or eles not running pf and weak spot.
Sure I can teach. I’m not the problem. I wouldn’t be using recount.
The problem is (and this is a problem most people seem to not acknowledege) is that the hard core community remains a small percentage of games, because the hard core community isn’t welcoming in general.
There are plenty of people who don’t know what to do in a dungeon, try a dungeon get yelled at and kicked and never get back. (I rewrote the next sentence six times to not get infracted lol).
The people who do this are their own worst enemies because they chase off potential players who might one day be like them through lack of patience. Then they complain no one knows how to play the game.
The tool set provided for any game shouldn’t encourage people to treat other people like this.
Thing is the hardcore community described at elitists are actually the most helpful to new players. Look at the dungeon mentor guild, and the dozens of arah soloers taking inexperienced players with them to show them the ropes. Those people getting yelled at are usually guilty. They join an “exp” lfg, and expect to get carried to the endboss. The few willing to learn get all the support from us elitists. This thread and the dungeon in general is full of hate against better and experienced players for whatever reason, meanwhile those experienced players are busy teaching. There’s idiots on both sides, and name calling on both sides, but you can’t reduce a community of like minded players looking for improvement into a stereotype of unwelcoming and uneducated crowd. There’s nothing to do in this game as an “hardcore” ( read: experienced) player; thus we teach the new generation of players.

Force+ night and a second force+ undead gs for general purposes.
You’ll most likely camp gs for the might stacking provided you can hundred blades/ ww the boss. For though fights where you can’t hundred blades easily ( non record lupi) or unpractical for staying still ( abom) switching to axe won’t be as detrimental. Don’t hesitate to switch when you need a block, though.
btw flamethrower auto attack is useless in pve
kthxbye
dagger autoattack is the highest necro dps.
As a side note, hybrid builds are bad both for condi and direct damage, at least in pve.
For fights where you don’t need absolute resolution/ indomitable courage, swap to 4/6/2/0/2. But yeah, 4/5/0/0/5 will be just fine. The first cof boss is actually pretty hard ( ye I know I know) in non organised setups because it hits really fast, really hard, etc. In pugs, rotate between your aegis and other blocks and try to keep aggro on you for a while so they can dps freely, and when you’re out of cooldowns, just take your breath by dodging backwards and using, for instance, sword 3, since it has a bit of range. Bring wall of reflect for the effigy, and maybe some life on crit food/vigor if you’re struggling. You can play 4/5/0/1/4 without that much of a dps loss and gain vigor on crit to help you starting/progressing. Good luck!
“P3, all welcomed”
Move those defense points to arms and discipline, let your hammer in the bank and grab an axe and a few offhands, swap the air sigil for a strenght sigil, use scholar runes, get your full berserker trinkets and don’t use mending and you’re good to go.
I wonder if condi engi is faster than power, since nades are an hybrid weapon, my guess would be that berserker/sin is still superior but I didn’t test condi extensively.
So you’re playing some empowering might chance ah build, maybe with some radiance investment for the dps, or something like that. Wow, you’re so special. I don’t run the optimal meta builds in www roaming, but every good build was already made, theorycrafted, and experimented, with minor personal differences. You’re ranting on the meta telling everyone how special and good you are, but guess what? If your build is that great, you’re not the only one playing it, and if it’s clearly superior, it’ll become meta.
Am I the only one around here using projectile finisher to poison/burn someone if he evaded the actual burn/poison skill?
Ever wandered in arah p4? It’s far from the linear tunnel you’re speaking of. Especially after Simin/ between melandru and lyssa.
ft aa is probably the best, since you can deal unlimited millions of damage.
That is a shame. I do understand the point in making short fights the key to survival – Overall that was base for my hps theory (that mobs only hit you so hard that You can survive and kill them – the quicker the better and the higher dps monsters retain). Could You truly recommend warrior as the class that is viable to solo ALL of the games content when it comes to combat situations. (i actually soloed whole AC, CoE and CoF, attempting the rest on my tankgeneers in nearby future).
I soloed ac, coe, arah, cm with my warrior, but I don’t like playing it- it’s still a really good class for soloing because they have high selfbuff capacity and perma fury along with special buffs ( banners). Being a berserker warrior isn’t really hard, as you have a lot of base health, and dodges/blocks on weapon sets.
tl;dr: berserker warrior is already tough enough for pve, solos included.
meditations are selfish, and any really supportive build won’t get point into valor.
oh didn’t see I was in the engi subforum
so, 6/6/0/2/0 or 6/6/0/0/2 with full assassin is your best bet,
This post is useless even if you’re sharing the build.
0/1/6/6/1, staff/hammer is pretty tanky and selfish. Stack as much vitality as you wan’t, spam your staff autoattack, and it’s cool.
Note: the more vitality you stack, the less useful you are.
Guild wars 2 game design failed in the end.
With a start like this it’s hard to take you seriously, but i’ll bite it.
I’d like he was wrong.
Unfortunately for some reason (don t ask me why) i hate to open LFG and i prefer to join.
When you find that except the TOP 2 easy rewarding dungeons (AC and COF) 99% LFG are sellers and you have to wait hours to see an actual real run in fractal 30-50 or CM or CoE (not to mention ARAH)…
Seems dungeon population dropped easily by 90% lately.
Did you know? 99% of those statistics are false.
6/5/0/3/0 is good when you’re still learning the encounters. Don’t give up with full berserker and remember that in a bad party you’re supposed to die when your defenses run out, can’t help that. if pugging, chain CnD and stealth to loose aggro and gain some time. In a real group, ask your guard to blow a bit more cooldowns for you, I myself adapt my aegis timing depending on my teammates experience.
Vash, you’re ( along with joe) the best shatter mesmer out there period. Keep up the good work, you’re a beast. There’s like 4 people I know on this game that can play without doing a single mistake in a pvp fight and you’re one of those, that’s sick.
/fanboy
Run whatever and deal with the fact you’re a dead weight.

inb4 " wow you’re an elitist"
40g is always nice to have, it’s about one day of dungeons without any exotic drop if you’re doing a tour. Most people I know have between 100 and 500g, and they are considered average. You really don’t need gold for leveling, I would use the dye and get gold from other things. But both choices are doable.
Start your own lfg.
Ah is selfish, you have plenty of ways to survive as a berserker guardian ( mainly aegis, blinds, focus 5, shelter and renewed focus for personal survivability). To put it shortly, ah was a thing at the start of the game where we didn’t know the dungeons as much as now,but since the encouters were all done thousand times, roling a support build will yield better results. Don’t give it with berserker 4/5/0/0/5, maybe take vigor if you struggle ( 4/5/0/1/4). Running with like minded people boosts your survivability.
