No, but they officially stated we were stupids, so we got that going for us.
As far as endgame goes, dungeons won’t be updated apart from “fixes” (which means in anet’s language we’re getting new game breaking bugs), and occasional class destruction for no real reason ( poor rangers). Welcome back.
Gemstore is unlocked at level 81.
Haha just kidding, fear nothing, anet, go on with your great work, your stupid playerbase is really happy.
Yeah, +1.
Meh, stacking’s no big loss to me. I play engi and rarely stack might. Let the staff guards and eles slave away at that, I’m too busy standing still.

Not sure if sarcasm…
Ele is powerful, the problem is the high risk of playing a difficult class doesn’t justify the average reward. That’s fine in pvp where you can’t make a class overpowered ( at least you shouldn’t), but in pve where people should be rewarded for their knowledge, it makes ele non desirable for non experienced players ( pugs, mainly)
Viable like anything else. Helpful and close to optimal? Nope.
I didn’t jump into the game today, but bear rush is probably nerfed, so no there’s no advantages. It’s all cosmetic and rp, so:
Asura.
What else?
tl;dr: engineers are average-good in pvp, good in roaming, great in group roaming, underwhelming in zergs, great in pve.
Maybe they feel like since their devs play P/P thieves, all the community is as clueless.
shots fired
It’s a trap!
Or you know, you can run shadow refuge.
I guess that’s true if your plan is to never touch dungeons.
Aegis+ protection is better than just protection.
And candy + ice cream is better than just candy. I’m sure everyone gets that. However, some guardians here want to replace the protection. AFAIK, shield #4 is still the only weapon skill that can provide on-demand protection.
And in pve, aegis> protection.
Is that so? I haven’t been to PvE for a long time and never once used shield for it. Like I asked earlier, could you explain that please?
Also, is it a good idea to balance a weapon from PvE point of view?
Yeah, and some others consider adding an aegis to the protection isn’t overpowered.
Aegis is superior in pve and 1v1 because you can negate all the dangerous attacks ( be it the OHKO of a boss or a burst warrior skill) and you have all the control about what is directed towards you, wich isn’t the case of pvp. Balancing a skill for pve only is as stupid as balancing it only for pvp. If they do balance skills for pvp only, they end up overpowered/underpowered in dungeons, and can either render a class useless ( frost spirit) or buff them undirectly (tweaking multipliers or coefficients), and then people ask for nerfs, wich then unbalance pvp, and it goes in circle like that.
^
Happened to me once, just consider yourself lucky to have that bug at the first boss and restart the dungeon.
Aegis+ protection is better than just protection. And in pve, aegis> protection.
It’s a pve trait. A powerful one, as well.
I already got the " It’s not part of my build" and “I don’t use WoR, I’m DPS”.. but did you met the infamous “WoR is useless I tried it and i still died” ? ( <10k ap guard in some dungeons pugging)
Anyways, I always try to explain their mistake, but since I either get called an elitist or just take an infraction if PvFing, your best bet is to just kick, block, and gearcheck.
Skale venom is cool.
dps isn’t required to end dungeons. It’s optimal and it helps your party, but you can complete anything naked. I usually do between 20 and 35k in a party without sigils, pots, and lacking one of two accessories, so 50k buffed isn’t over the top.
If you want to rp with a 600 ping and faceroll everything, you gonna have a bad time.
Every hit is the addition of that hit+ all the others. A 20k 100b displays the damage of all the hits.
Sharpening stone makes a difference though, since you’ll be using a X slaying in dungeons most of the time.
“Dungeons are what they are, and they won’t change anytime soon. Outside of small quality of life improvements, we’re leaving dungeons alone.”
11k is a bit low, yeah. What’s your spec/ger?
I’m currently making a warrior build without using weapons. I use physical attacks to take down my ennemy, along with damage on dodge. I know it’s not really optimal, but it works! I killed a moa yesterday, he couldn’t react with that bull’s charge/kick/stomp combo. If anet could buff no weapon users to make them on par with weapon users, it would promote build diversity.
I’ve no personal problems with D/P. But that’s because there’s no good condi thieves where I am. The goal of the spec, just like PU mesmers, is to live and spam stealth to gain health. IF a D/P thief doesn’t want to die, he will reset easily, especially in www where you can stealth out of ambients. You can’t burst them from 100% to 0% either: dire makes them tanky. Having access to a stunbreak wich also makes distance, they can’t, objectively, die. They may not be able to kill you either because they are too busy fleeing and stealthing, but no, a good P/D player can’t die in 1v1. Now thankfully good P/D players as rare.
I made this build for another thread:
It isn’t for PvE, just WvW.
80% crit with stacks, 100% with fury. This build bring tons of fury once the fight begins, so your only problem is the stack of precision.
It also brings tons of condi removal on demand, 2 breakstuns, cc, endurance, protection on evade and evades with sword. You can change muddy terrain for Signet of Hunt if you want, but it doesn’t look like a good trade imo. In WvW you won’t be getting away of fights thanks to Signet of the Hunt. And the passive doesn’t stack with the swiftness from the horn, so kinda pointless. Muddy terrain, in the other hand, helps to make your evades a lot better by putting distance between you and melee attackers, also helps to maintain fury and get rid of condis.
You linked the wrong build, there’s no spotter in that.
Spotter being the only reason to take a ranger into dungeons above anything else, and since the op stated he wanted a pve build, I can only assume you linked the wrong build.
WoW, you’re the first one to raise this non issue, I so changed my mind about it because you obviously have a lot of experience!
not.
Dagger w3, earth 4 and 5 are blast finishers. That’s 3.
Yeah, so the ability to stack might mid fight will be even more important.
I know you’re not making things up as far as math goes. Quick reminder: taking full dps builds for both, they are about equal with about 300 more less for gs/ sw/f. (6/6/2 against 5/5/0/4, both without unscathed contender). You won’t use full dps builds in dungeons. But that’s negligeable: the problems are indeed the one I listed above. 6 seconds to stack might for a 3 sec boss fight is a huge time loss. It’s not about choosing what abilities to take for blasting: both eles and engis rotations are a dps increase. If you stack might out of combat, you’re also lowering the party dps. The ramp up is actually achieved at the 2nd autoattack chain when the symbol is overlapping with the next auto attack. It is included in the calculations for a 30 second rotation, but faster the fight is, more important is the burst damage. Hammer utilities are dps loss, focus 4 and 5 aren’t. Hammer not only has less modifiers for reflects, it also has less for other weapons, conjures, non symbol skills.
Well i dodged the aoe and then decided to test the damage for science, it was a 8 or 9k on my engi i believe so.. yeah, a bad crit will os an ele :O
It would be the meta build with S/x and staff. Pop your staff phantasm, swap to sword/x, pop your phantasm, auto attack.
Don’t blame me! You asked for the best.
When celestial got upped, mainly.
No. Since hammer is a symbol spec, there’s a ramp-up time to reach its dps. The only burst from gs/hammer come from a gs rotation every now and then that will do less damage than a 5/5/0/0/4 or any dps played guardian. Investing into honor makes gs less powerful to boost hammer dps. Stacking out of combat is a time loss, especially when ( and that’s always the case) you have eles and engis in you group. You’re also stacking less multipliers for reflects, and don’t get the utilities of focus offhand.
Got a 82 illusionist instead of the berserker at the door leading to the room before lupi. 0/
So you’re telling me that banners and might aren’t support? Warriors are meta because they excel in offensive support, not because their dps is over the top. A full signet warrior is useless, because he focuses on dps instead of offensive support.
Healing turret for the heal, gives condi removal, regen, and great hps. Bomb will be better than FT. I’d say go rifle/bomb and then it’s up to you. Nades are inferior if you’re not traiting for grenadier.
Dire P/D SA is a 1v1 spec, a good player can’t ( really, he can’t, that’s 100% impossible) die. But in WwW, where good players are rare, there’s a chance to win. You’re still starting at an inadvantage. First, know your ennemy: P/D rely on good bleed application with torment via #3 and depending on specs, venom burst. I’ll list a non exhaustive lists of counter actions:
-If the thief blows his venoms, he’ll play agressive. Use shield 5, tooolkit 4 or any defense you have to make him waste his steal/ CnD/ 1 combo, that’s about 80% of their initial burst and they lost 5 ini along with the mighty steal.
-Use blinds. In melee range, they’ll try to CnD ( Cloak and dagger, the 3 sec stealth ability) on you, and blinding them will prevent the stealth, so that’s a deny of their condi removal, regen, and own blinds.
-if they are in stealth and about to attack, use shield 4. Yeah, their sneak attack is reflectable.
-Make them waste important cooldowns before putting a lot of pressure. IF shadowstep is on cooldown, supply crate right away, and deliver the burst.
-If they use a shadow refuge and you can’t move them out in time, they’ll most likely reset the fight. Take some time to regain your health, and find an LOS spot to force them into melee. If you have a way to check where they are ( strenght sigil proc, etc), spam some non lethal auto attack.
-Use area denial. IT’s the strenght of engis. They want to come melee? Sure, but they’ll eat a crap ton of aoes first. Just doing that will help you; it’s not because an ability didn’t connect that it wasn’t useful.
-their condi removal come from stealth, don’t let them stealh on mobs or such.
Hope this helps.
The Dps warrior will also do more support.
./thread
I agree with giving veterans and above more abilities. However, consider that doing so in dungeons will enforce skipping, since fighting a mob with powerful abilities is a waste of time if there’s no drop tied to it. Look at arah, where most elites are far more powerful than in other dungeons: we just skip them. If we have to scale up elites, loots should be scaled up as well.
Now for the 2nd part, berserker teams use support, control, conditions, and boon manipulation if needed. It’s not tied to gear, that’s all. Do you want some kind of power/prec/ stun duration gear? It’ wont help. If support isn’t tied to gear, the best way to go for speedruns is berserker. That’s not a bad thing, it makes the game more fast paced.
Yeah, and why do you need to open 3 different threads about this? Especially when people took the time to explain why your suggestions lack experience? Pve has flaws, but certainly not in the case of CCs, support, or telegraphed animations ( part of an action rpg) ..
God, this thread again? Why are you posting a new one every week?
You rely on stability to pull off a long casting time action? Well, a class can steal those boons. The powerful thing is the interrupt+ boonsteal combo in one ability, but trickery thieves ( not speaking of S/D, mainly D/P 2/6/0/0/6) have 0 defense from traits, it’s fair that they get a tool against boons. There’s no real solution except a complete revamp of the trickery traitline, imo. Upping the steal cooldown wouldn’t achieve much in pvp ( because stability is usually on long cd abilities). Maybe an UI change to display the steal availableness, to make it easier to avoid?
No.
Not only is burning a dps gain, but since it will proc on crit and not on a single ability, your ennemy can’t reliably dodge it.
Evasive Arcana, dodge and swap to earth
You’re welcome.
Problem with hammer isn’kittens dps, it’s the lack of burst and the light field spam.
I vote for " Or you know, you could also get a vuln stack"
