It’s great!! No matter what i want to do, where i want to go, I am ALWAYS able to find a HUGE squad to do it with)!! THIS is what MOST mmorpgs lack, but this game has FINALLY achieved it. this community is kicking up since the squad system and commander modifications have started. This game, as of now, is eligible to remain at its top tier rank in the mmo genre. Even when i log on at 1AM, i find a squad doing something interesting and fun to do. This game is at a really good platform, in which the devs can build from.

I’m with you. Still having fun in the game, each and every day!

Wow some of you must get the kitten out and get some air just told op why there are always ppl around this community turned toxic as kitten.

I think it was the condescending way you asked the question to the OP. The sarcasm of ‘go google’ too. Didn’t really look friendly to me either.

I just dont think you guys get it… I not once said I dont want to do anything and therefor give me gifts of exploration. And really farming Champ Trains, or Sw? There is a BIG difference between something that you do strictly for “profit” (I say that because their are better ways for going about it) to doing numb-filled 100% completion for the 9 or so times it requires to make all legendaries 10 if you add Twice Told Legend Achievement. Look I have said it before, tie them into a reward track and after you do it 3 times or so allow someone like Myani to sell them for a LARGE amount of spirit shards and maybe some obby shards, at least this would block the content not through the means of repeating the same content that requires a skill level of 3hrs worth of game play, but can be obtained via ANY other content in game that you might be doing that can provide a challenge(this is 1 of hundreds of ways they can go about introducing something that isn’t going to force people to do the same content that requires 0 skill). If you genuinely enjoy killing hundreds of hours doing something I and many others can do while asleep, thats great! However for many others we want to be able to move and do content thats actually challenging and fun. So stop accusing people of wanting nothing but freebies, I TRULY believe that all content should be in many ways grindy, challenging, and overall a great experience, WC ONLY provides the grind that once done, is absurdly needing to be repeated over 2-3+ hundred hours with as much skill as someone who has 3 hrs of game play.

Please read posts pass the first 2 sentences before outright calling people out, thanks and have a great day!

Nobody has called anyone out. Especially not you. Did you actually read beyond the two paragraphs you quoted? If so, you would have seen that my discussion was not about you or your idea, but in reply to someone else. Have a good day yourself though.

I often wonder how many of the people who complain about World Completion being a grind actually go doing champion trains, or Silverwaste Chest farms etc. Farms which again, one can’t fail.

Exactly what I’m saying. If someone grinded out the mats or gold to make legendarys then they also did the same repetitive tasks over and over. Some who complain about WC will farm Orr, do SW chest runs for hours and hours, FS champs for hours and hours or dungeons over and over. Most which require being good at pressing 1 key or F. All these things can be done while watching netflix. imo the only difference between WC and the things mentioned, WC is not profitable vs time where repetitive farm is.

Which makes me think the issue isn’t about how long it takes, or how difficult or mundane world completion is to these people wanting instant maps, but the fact there isn’t a nice shiny at the end of it.

Perhaps in light of ArenaNet giving 2 Gold for doing dailies, the rewards for completing each map could do with a slight boost? I bet people wouldn’t complain as much then.

Then again, I still think the ‘Make World Completion Instant’ threads are a symptom of the Level-80 boosts, and to a lesser extent, Tomes of Knowledge too. You get to 80 with a few clicks, and after a while, you realise your character is at just 2% of the world, and can’t do much with the skills they have until they’ve explored a bit. (I used my 80 Boost on a character already 80 for this very reason).

Guild Issues (venting anger).

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

penelopehannibal.8947

If you want people to rep your guild, it’s up to you as a guild leader to make them want to rep, not up to ArenaNet. Offer them something to the table instead of “Hey, rep our guild so you can be our billboard”.

There will be a lot more anger if people were forced to choose only one guild because ArenaNet took four of them away. Take Roleplayers for example – some people have more than one RP character, for example, an Asura and a Seraph soldier. The Asura might be in a College-based guild, the Seraph in a Seraph-based guild. Making them have to choose would be a bad move.

Also – someone not repping your guild isn’t necessarily an inactive one.

Why not do a donation page for development

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Because Anet is a for-profit business. “Donations” to such a business are taxable as income and come with expectations that a product will delivered. It opens Anet to a truckload of legal crap and is a terrible idea.

If you want to support gameplay development instead of gem store sales, check out this idea instead: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Think-Tank-VIP-Subscription/page/2#post6177981

They’re both terrible ideas. The gem store was specifically designed to support the game instead of having a subscription.

If ArenaNet implemented crowd funding, they’d just be saying “Guys, we’re desperate. Please gib cash” – and customers will turn away.

If ArenaNet implemented a VIP subscription, they’d just be saying “Guys, we’re desperate. Please gib cash” – and customers will turn away.

I’m sure the Gem Store more than covers their expenses for them to not need either too.

With all these threads complaining about map completion, I wonder if I’m the only one in the game that has the patience to do multiple map completions.

You’re not the only one. There are plenty of people who have done it multiple times. They’re probably just too busy enjoying map completion to entertain the forums. It’s fun, a great way to level a character, earn karma, a little gold, maybe transmutations charges or keys, all rolled into one game mode.

Instant world completion threads are the new Mount threads it seems. I wish there was a gif of someone bashing a globe with a stick.

Karma into Hearts (Tasks)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

penelopehannibal.8947

But.. you get Karma from hearts. I’m against any form of instant World Completion.

World Completion is meant to be a long term thing. It’s meant to take effort, otherwise the reward at the end isn’t worth having.

At this stage of the game map completion is just a grind, doesn’t serve any other purpose other than to waste my time. I assumed Karma would be the best currency since Hearts already give Karma, you can charge per Heart whatever amount of Karma that gives or increase it to a reasonable amount. I mentioned that I already have done map completion, once you do it once or twice, doing it a third time is unnecessary.

What do you want to do Map Completion for then, if it doesn’t nothing but waste your time? If it serves you no purpose, there’s no need to complete the hearts.

I’ve done it 18 times myself. Some people have done it more. Not to everyone’s taste, but if you don’t want to do it, just don’t do it!

and place sell bids well under the current low bid for each that will yield 2g6s8c after posting fees and tax for a total profit of 98s75c or 92% of my investment. I could make more if I was a little more selective with the dyes I bought and not undercut the current low sell price by as much as I did.

There is no real point to undercut sell bids more then 1c. Brown pigment sells extremely well even nowadays.

I don’t completely agree with this point. Last night, I undercut someone on Brown Pigments by 1c, only to be undercut myself by 1c, then they got undercut by 1c, then they got undercut by 1c. So I cancelled my order, undercut the lowest seller by 1s, and my items quickly sold by a bargain hunter with a keen eye.

I perhaps could have been patient and waited, but I wanted the money fairly quickly. I tend to find if I place the price approximately half-way between the lowest seller and the highest bidder, I can still sell fairly quickly on most items, rather than risk being undercut in a stagnant 1c bidding war.

Melee Pistols

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

Trying to follow the train of thought here. So – the opposite of a hammer rev … you have a melee pistol that CANNOT do ranged attacks.

What skills could you see this weapon doing?

Maybe Pistol whip? Pistol whip v2? Throw pistol?

If we can get some sort of skill set involved I can feel more comfortable thinking outside the box and trying to add to the convo.

Jam the pistol into the enemy’s gut and fire…. 2-hit attack, the second of which does bleed stacks, all within melee range.

Shoot at the ground in front of you, causing the enemy to jump back (knockback).

That’s all I’ve got atm….

~EW

Perhaps add a bit of magical support to a melee pistol. Shoot oneself for healing?

So you mean, you still pull the trigger, but the range is only close combat? Isn’t that just using pistols as they are already, but close up?

No, current pistols can be used at a range of 900, the new “Melee” pistol stills would not be able to use their skills from a range of 900.

Exactly my point. Your suggestion, whilst I understand the image of it, is basically taking away x amount of range, but doing the same thing. You’ve got a pistol that shoots bullets, but you have to run to your opponent. Doesn’t make sense to me that.

There are plenty of reasons someone would run up to use a gun in close range. Think about it, it happens in real life and in fictional world’s pretty frequently.

It makes sense when

- someone wants to shoot someone in a specific spot

- inflict critical damage

- they have bad aim

- punch through defenses

Etc

I agree. But the same pistols that can do that, are designed so they can also do damage at long range, where your suggestion says ‘Take away range from pistols’.

Ranger Pet Botting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.

Isn’t there a mastery skill that auto loots?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Advanced_Logistics

if yes, then it’s not just a form of exploit but botting, caused by a poor game design and the ignorance of Anet staff. I’ve seen a ranger camping at mob spawn area with very defensive equipment and skills to keep his pet alive. This definitely sounds sketchy and must be reconsidered for a fix.

Not sure how you missed this thread, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Please-a-clear-statement-re-AFK-farming, when locating this old thread.

^Yep, it has been covered in the link provided. You should go and read it. Bottom line-no big deal -it is allowed unless 3rd party software is used or player is found to be AFK by a GM. AFK is not botting btw.

You’re wrong. It isn’t allowed.

Melee Pistols

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

It kind of makes sense to me. If we look at it your way that’s like saying:

“why use melee weapons at all when every class has access to ranged weapons, after all with melee weapons have you to run to your oppnt?”

I could see one of the skills being hit your enemy with the butt of your pistol (similar to what warrior has with rifle) but apart from that I have no ideas.

That’s not quite what I’m saying. I’m saying with any ranged weapon that uses ammunition (melee pistols, melee rifles, melee bows, melee speargun) wouldn’t make sense.

The weapon itself has the ability to shoot a projectile at say, 900 range, no matter who uses it. It doesn’t make sense that one class has that projectile to suddenly stop at say, 130 range. All it does is take something away, rather than add to the experience.

Magical ranged weapons, that turn melee work – the melee staff is a great example of a different play style that although took away range, added something else. A melee sceptre or melee trident could potentially make sense too (though to me a sceptre becomes a mace, and a trident becomes a spear). They are essentially caster weapons that can be adopted and used by non-casters.

Currently, it is necessary to keep pressing F if there are more than 3 ore/wood node hits, or multiple hits on a plant node.

This can probably be done for Rich Ore Nodes, but as for bonus gathers from wood, plants etc, they are a random chance, so I’m not sure if it’d work for those, since the mechanics might be that the bonus gather isn’t added until after the last chop is done (as in, player chops – computer rolls dice – player can/cannot chop again). I could be wrong though.

AFK farming is people going to sleep, then waking up and logging on to a windfall (however small it is, it’s still free money for simply keeping a computer running). Anet still doesn’t explain how the Commander of the Pact who defeated Zaithan can be a Revenant when the “First Revenant” appeared after Zaithan’s death.

They had a different class before they became a revenant, like Rytlock was a warrior before becoming one. Rytlock was there at the slaying of Zhaitan, if you recall.

For all intents and purposes, your class is never mentioned during the storyline. You can play mechanically as a Revenant, but lore-wise, you’re not one. You’re just whoever your character is called.

I have many characters so I use a different one on each.

The one I use on my RP character is Mercenary, since that’s what she is when she’s IC (In-Character).

I also like Closer to the Stars which I use on my main PvE/Storyline character.

So in short, do not AFK near Mobs unless you want suspensions. Skills automated or not, Pets active or not. Its just not safe.

This is not true – go AFK wherever you are, if you need to go AFK. If you’re genuinely going AFK, they won’t take action.

If you’re going to go AFK with AFK farming in mind, then you will get a suspension. If you’re genuinely AFK, you’ll probably be dead, or probably not in an AFK hot spot, or not with the exact same build as an AFK farmer next to you, or not near a load of mobs that drop sacks that might give linen. There’s so much criteria that the chances of someone innocently being AFK then suspended is negligible.

It’s going to be true until the GMs are all on the same page. Please re-read the rest of the post that you quoted.

I read (and re-read) your entire post and my message still stands. Someone genuinely AFK won’t get suspended.

The only reason why you think it’s complicated is because some people (perhaps yourself too) are still asking for a scientific definition, and about 500 ‘what ifs’, making it a more complicated issue than it really has to be.

It’s simple: Don’t AFK Farm. Go AFK if you need to.
