“I would like an honest response as to why the Warrior’s mobility moves (Rush, Bull’s Charge, etc) are the only ones in the game that are affected by movement impairing effects as well.”
i am REALLY eager to know that myself… since were one of the few, if not the only class, that can and often does specc 100% melee…
Its just plain stupid to call these gap closers when they are affected by slows, which is exactly the thing they are there for and should work against.
Plain stupid – not even talking bout the sad path finding issues.Add to that… why do we have the WORST slows in the game plz ?!
Bladetrail… misses everything that moves and is not already in your face…
Axe throw misses everything that moves and like bladetrail its possible to just walk out of its range while its already in mid air…
Only good slow i can think of is rifle and well…
even that one, like all the others, gets obstructed way too often on a battlefield where there arent even any obstacles around…
To add to that, why is cripple so much worse condition then chill? With chill I feel like I’m not moving, whereas with cripple half the enemy still gets away.
if you want damage, ruby orbs give you the most bang for your buck. Only if you know you can keep your health above 90, should you use scholar (could be a possibility if you like to longrange zerg)
You have almost 100% crit, very fast adrenaline generation (heal, signet of accuracy and furious) as well as 20% reduction on the burst, allowing you to use it often. I’ve also taken longer bowstrings, as the additional range helps a lot, but I don’t think it’s worth going any further into the tactics for the other bow buff.
My personal goto build is:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|4.1g.h1|c.0.0.g.0.0|1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7|1g.0.1g.67.1g.67.1g.67.1g.67.1g.67|a5.u37b.0.0.u56b|3a.8|5y.69.6i.6d.6m|e
Your critical chance is exactly at 100% with full adrenaline and fury up. You build up kill shot with signet of accuracy and adrenal health. Between these two, you should be able to get a kill shot every cooldown. You also build adrenaline very fast just auto attacking. Your second weapon set doesn’t matter much. I mostly use sword / warhorn just to get around. You are very glassy and any burst class will kill you. Try to keep distance and use endure pain if neccessary. This build has no condition removal, so if you’re caught in cripple etc. you’re dead. Best used in zergs to kill thiefs :p
Perhaps warriors should get +5% damage against opponents with aegis.
lol..
Also, just for fun, this is probably one of the highest effective power setups:
uses scholar runes though
You could probably get a bit more damage if you run 25/25/0/10/10, as you get another 2% damage boost and 50 power from the third minor trait in strength
Edit: Also, blade master doesn’t affect the GS btw.
Omg isnt gs a sword?i didnt know that..thanks for the info.
No, blademaster only refers to main hand sword as opposed to the GS.
Personally, I run a mixed set: chest, helm, legs are knight, rest is zerker. I find full zerker a bit too glassy for my taste for anything outside of COF.

I’d rather have boon strip then hate, that’ll show those DD eles @@
Start with the precursor. Mystic gloves are dirt easy compared to the precursor. Grind out the money, get that precursor and it’s smooth sailing from there.
Hmmm does it mean kick would work like a charging shout? I.e. I can rush and kick at the end if I time it right? I guess we’ll find out in 2 weeks
Hmmm, multiple banners don’t stack, do they?
That is, you can’t have like 5 warriors each with Banner of Strength out and get 450 power/condition damage, right?
They don’t stack
Imho, the one fix i would like to see is to let mobile strikes remove all snares!
A second suggestion to really push warriors is to give every melee weapon set a skill that is similar to the GS evade: i.e. leap for sword or cyclone axe for axe.
Now organized guilds split into groups of 5 and have thieves shadow refuge them before attacking
Ingenius!
imho, that takes much more coordination and time then just running through veil
Keep it, sunrise looks great at night
2x sup monk 2x sup water 2x maj sanct = 40% boon duration.
SoR boons (including swiftness) will last 42s over a 48s CD, this means you have a 6s downtime on swiftness in between SoRs.
If you have 10 tactics it gets to only 3 seconds downtime.
Same, other option is to continually swap for war horn, but that’s pretty annoying..
I would say get earth, the 50% increased duration on protection (around 6 sec every 30 sec) should help to keep you alive.
Honest discussion though, with Rune of Lyssa, after those godlike 5 seconds, aren’t you really vulnerable?
In what way? 1.9k power with over 50% crit with 100% fury uptime and 65% crit damage is more than enough with 1.9k toughness and 24.5k hp. That’s 40ish% damage reduction.. we just take a good elite and make it an incredible one on top.
Well there are better options for runes, such as if you want more tankyness: earth, more boon duration (water + monk), more dps: ruby orbs. I don’t see the point in going for the rune of lyssa as you either initiate with it (most likely) or you use it as a full cleanse (less likely). But do those 5 seconds really outweight the benefits of the other options you have?
Honest discussion though, with Rune of Lyssa, after those godlike 5 seconds, aren’t you really vulnerable?
Don’t worry much about banner’s etc until you hit 80. I think especially when you’re leveling they are not that great solo (except for the movement speed buff). Later on banner warrior are quite viable as the regen is nice!
We didn’t have AR to go for second place…
Sometimes you probably didn’t charge up adrenaline?
I’m more in favor of the rifle most of the time. While the combo field from the longbow is nice, rifle 3 hits quite hard and you can stack some vuln with 4. If you use adrenal health and don’t need much health you can always kill shot before healing for even more DPS. Also, while the longbow pin down is nice, the more consistent longer range cripple i find more useful if I use a rifle in WvW. For defending however, I do switch the the longbow for the AOE.
I find it hard to take PVT when there is knights armor, the extra bit is ok, but the extra precicion helps much more in my opinion
I really use sword shield as my defensive / utility set. Similar to you, my main damage comes from the other weapon set (GS), with the sword shield on swap. It brings however a really nice leap, another cripple, a 3 second block and 1 daze and 1 4-second immobilize which I can follow up with a 100b.
A quick and dirty calculation is done at gw2builds.com . It doesn’t take fury and might into account, which is a pity, but it allows you to compare different builds fairly well.
I think most people don’t only run GS for 100b, in fact many other skills are even more important:
- whirlwind: dodge and aoe damage. The extra dodge heps immensly
- Blade trail: ranged aoe + cripple and hits twice if you aim it properly
- 100b good burst
- rush, engage, disengage
Also you get might stacking from trait (25 might stacks in most situations with a bit of boon duration) and 10% extra damage from slashing power if traited.
What a garbage server Borlis Pass is. I was having loads of fun from Friday-Sunday when the scores for all 3 servers were within 100s/1000s of points and it was an extremely fair match – one of the fairest in a while
Then Sunday night/Monday morning comes.
All 3 maps are capped. Borlis Pass is 20k ahead of everyone else. What a PoS server. You ruined a potentially great match up by PvDing all night. Hope you had fun for 2 days that it was actually fun.
There won’t be any challenge at all from here on out from Devona’s Rest or Ehmry Bay. You completely demoralized both servers by showing how “superior” you are by attacking empty forts all night. You were one of my favourite servers to fight in a while and then you destroy any integrity you had in one night.
Pathetic.
How many days until reset? Oh yeah – 5. Watch how little challenge there will be from now until reset now that no one stands a chance at winning but Borlis Pass. The same challenge that was there from Friday-Sunday will no longer be present.
I’m sorry, I guess we really just have to take a break when you log off.
I would say put those 20 points from tactics to discipline to get signet mastery and mobile strikes. Also while you need contition removal I’m not sure about sigil of generosity. It only procs once every 10 seconds and only removes 1 condition. Maybe force or fire is more useful.
Yep, compulsory 15 into discipline
Believe me, there was a time when I would waste hours of my time on forums and try arguing with people. It came to a point, I had to explain to a bunch of entitled trolls what an exponential function is, or the concept of diminishing returns. I will not make that mistake again, because people never learn. I’d rather put my time to own use.
Ogre are worse than Ruby Orbs and here is the undeniable evidence:
6194 e.power with Ruby Orbs.
6189 e.power with Ogre runes. You know, those “entitled trolls” you mentioned earlier are exactly those who push their ideals without checking their facts first and demanding people just takes their word for it.
Try to be more flexible and accept that others may know more or a lot more than you. There was a time where we didn’t have these tools and stubborn people could push their mathematically wrong opinions without hard counters, but now we do.
However, you could argue that the DPS from the rock dog would tilt it in Ogre’s favor. Also one needs to look at a condition with fury in order to fully evaluate the effective power of both.
You have to turn off auto targeting under settings. It’s a bit annoying, but the only way to prevent rushing back into the enemy zerg..
If you really want to live purely through toughness, I’d aim for around 40% reduction, or around 1800 toughness. Semi mobile builds, you probably want around 1400 toughness or around 30% reduction. Pure damage evade, I think you can get away with 20% reduction or around 1100 toughness. Full zerker I wouldn’t recommend except for rifle builds with 912 base toughness. At least that’s my personal experience playing a warrior in wvw.
Healing Surge, I use Signet of Stamina for Conditions
Same, the extra amount of heal compared to mending really helps
Nice, such a close match sofar! I wonder how the performance during the week will be.
Basically focus on CC with mace / hammer & banner support
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|9.1c.h2.e.1c.h1l|2.1c.h2|1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o|2u.0.2u.0.3u.0.3u.0.2u.0.2u.0|a2.0.u28b.u57b.0|21.1|0.0.0.0.0|e
Hey, just for fun, I made up a build here:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|9.1c.h2.e.1c.h1l|2.1c.h2|1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o.1c.7o|2u.0.2u.0.3u.0.3u.0.2u.0.2u.0|a2.0.u28b.u57b.0|21.1|0.0.0.0.0|e
50% damage reduction, 60k effective HP
At this point, your damage is low, and you won’t crit. You are basically a walking damage soak and help your allies with banner buffs and heavy CC (mace + hammer)
You also proc protection randomly from earth runes at which point damage is probably close to 80% reduced.
Utilities: Adrenal health, balanced stance, signet of stamina, endure pain, signet of rage
This build is primarily focused on mobility. You have around 39s/48sec of signet of rage up-time, really good movement skills on both sword and GS.
Usually, the aim of this build is to get into a zerg, do damage and get out alive. In order to do that you have mobile strikes (works with GS 3,5, sword 2 and shield 4), shield block, endure pain and balanced stance.
You are also very mobile as you can even chase down an Ele by matching the mobility with both sword 2, and GS 3,5.
Individual fights, your goal is to damage them with whirlwind, blade trail and if they are out of dodges etc., shield bash > Sword Burst > swap to GS > 100b > whirlwind.
If you feel more daring, swap out all cavalier trinkets for berserker trinkets. This brings your crit chance from 81% to 91%, but reduces damage reduction from 30 to 20%.
I’m running 38 regularly, and I basically focus on damage + damage mitigation. I run GS + rifle with endure pain, balanced stance, signet of stamina. Most bosses I can melee with a combination of dodge + whirlwind + blade trail and auto-attacks. On really tough bosses (grawl) I use the rifle mainly and dodge his arrows.
Warrior have the best bleed duration trait in the game that gives +50% bleed duration
Combine it with +20% bleed duration sigils, +45% bleed duration rune set up, and other condition dmg. stats.
The last time I checked, 4 does over 20k dmg with a perfect bleed duration build.
I think the damage is pretty good. It’s just not as AoE as thief/necro bleed builds.
That is true, however we don’t have any traits to increase the intensity of bleeds, as most longer duration bleeds are wasted due to condo removal.
I wouldn’t get celestial. The warrior just scales incredibly well with raw damage stats (power, precision and crit). All the traits such as berserker power, slashing power, attack of opportunity and empowered are all percentage based gains, which means the more you have of power, the more you get out of those traits. Also with a GS the more you crit, the more power you get, which means your damage increases exponetially more.
I play WvW a lot so I run GS (main) + sword / shield.
The sword is mostly used to get in and out (with mobile strikes) where most of the damage comes from the GS.
Hmm that got me thinking, how about this build:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|1.1g.h1|0.0.0.0.0.0|1n.71g.1n.71g.1n.71h.1n.71h.1n.a7.1n.a7|2v.0.2v.0.3v.0.2v.0.3v.0.2v.0|k59.u3ab.0.0.k5a|3a.8|0.0.0.0.0|e
4.7k effective power and 1800 toughness. (power could be higher, but i really like my boonduration runes)
I was looking at the WvW ratings when I noticed something neat.
Anvil Rock has the lowest Deviation and Volitility of all the servers in North America
SOLID AS A ROCK!Good observation, also means that we’ll be in this tier for a long time more :p
That’s what happens if you play for second place..
yeah.. except the jump range is so short, most of the time people walk out before the animation finishes.. Anet needs to give it at least 400 range or more.
a hybrid build works pretty well in WvW so long as you don’t go for some funky set up and try to split the difference 50/50
the longsword actually has pretty decent ratio’s and is totally viable weapon for a none condition based build. against squishier targets i’ve crit for 4-5k with the longswords final attack on the auto attack.
personally i’ve never had good luck with sword and board/rifle. now sword and board/longbow has some serious potential. one good combo i’ve found that simply destroys other warriors is to start with a pinning shot followed by a point blank bolas chained into a flurry with your choice of attacks in between.
after all, too many people underestimate the severity of immobilize, and don’t realize that you can’t just stun break out of it.
That’s why mobile strikes is never coming off my trait selection. A warrior that stops moving is a dead warrior.
