Just so long as it stays an option and isn’t forced. I hate filters.
As someone who doesn’t swear in game or in the real world, I have no problem with swearing.
I’m a female and for female humanoid characters, I NEVER pick revealing armor. I want to portray my female characters as people—valued for strength, intellegence, and personality. Not just a pair of boobs designed to service men.
On the other hand, for my charr characters, I try to find the most revealing armor possible. The charr have really cool fur patterns, and I like to see the details of the fur pattern. Also, I’M SO GLAD the charr have the same armor for male and female. Arenanet worked so hard to make the female charr cool—giving them armor that is in any way less kitten then the male armor would be a shame.
There’s nothing wrong with exposing or unrealistic armor, and there’s nothing wrong with attractive looking characters. The problem comes in when some armors send the message “My body is a toy, my only purpose (as a female) is to pleasure you”
That said, Guild Wars 2 has a decent selection of armors. It’s much easier for male characters to have non-skimpy armor then female—but it’s not hard for females to find something covering. I think it’s ok the way it is, because people can choose what they want to wear. The one thing they could change is to make light female starter armor more reasonable. It should look like the starter male armor—maybe with some cleavage to compromise between “modest” and “revealing”, but right now it’s rediculous.
Clothing does not dictate behavior. It is something that has always annoyed me about clothing. Ideally, skimpy clothing shouldn’t mean kittenty, but because it does, the kittenty people wear it and reaffirm the stereotype. That said, in this game there is nothing whatsoever that would even come close to suggesting a female character is saying ‘use me’ by wearing skimpy clothes. That is simply applying real world realities to a fake world game.
You are correct. It is more than adequate.
1000 points to the user with the great idea.
I’m not the one wishing harm on another person…
and you deserve it!
one day you’ll learn to respect another human being and not spit on them when they’re down and need help
even IF it was his fault, there’s no reason to treat the guy like that. but i guess since you’re safe in your mommy’s computer chair behind the anonymous internet you’ll just say whatever you want right?
good luck to you in your life man, it’s gonna be awfully lonely by the way you treat people
PS – and i thought this community was different. just the same old same, old MMO crowd here
Kid, the sooner you realize the world is not all sunshine and rainbows, the better off you will be. I treat people with the respect they deserve, not the respect they feel is obligated to them.
What I meant was, EvE players thrive off scamming people out of their hard earned cash.
Nice write up. Thanks!
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring up EVE.
I hope you learned your lesson. I for one hope nothing bad comes to the player you reported. It is no ones fault but your own for trusting them.
what a horrible horrible person you are. i for one, hope something incredibly bad happens to you so you know how it feels to be the victim.
OP: im sorry you had to learn the hard way. i hope anet is able to help you and get back your gold
I’m not the one wishing harm on another person…
I would definitely say that it would go a very long way if ArenaNet managed to get a bit more active on the forums rather then just spouting out an errant comment or two. That said I realize they aren’t that large of a company and have a lot of work to do as well, so I can’t necessarily say I am surprised they haven’t, nor do I harbor disappointment by it.
Should be more than enough. I’m rocking a 560 series and don’t have a problem. Framerates only dip if there is a truly crapton of stuff on the screen. That said, I wouldn’t mind SLI.
Nice. I have the pants and just bought the chest. 30% complete on my way to be the 1%.
It really doesn’t need to be lowered. It is already a pittance to travel around in my opinion.
It won’t happen, but I would love to play Hylek. They definitely come off as far less childish than the Quaggan (who I always want to punch in the face), and obviously far more intelligent than the Skritt (who I want to throw into the fires of Mt. Doom).
+1 to this. I would love to see this.
I am sorry, but that is an asinine amount of rules to follow. If mounts ever show up in the game, I feel they should be reasonably easy to acquire for cheap skins, and functionally the same as minipets as far as summoning and un-summoning.
The only way I would be okay with flying at all would be as a travel method in PvE only, and even then only to areas you have been before. (no flying up to vistas for example)
Using realism as an excuse to get less revealing armor into a fantasy game is absolutely absurd. Especially when guns, trebuchets , fireballs, crushing water depths, and a myriad of other ways to die present themselves. Heavy, realistic, armor is just as irrelevant at stopping bullets as any of the skimpy armor.
Oh look, it’s this thread again.
0/10. Because um, it’s a dude and I have no idea what a good looking dude looks like.
What is this I don’t even… Are you an alien with no concept of human beauty?
Yes, actually.
Well the community has made it abundantly clear that they feel ArenaNet hasn’t been listening to their woes and delegating some people to listen for them and sift through all the crap would let them focus on actually making the game.
To be honest, I made this post before sifting through a lot of threads, and I definitely do not see an abundance of logical thinking gracing the forums. That said, I still think something like this could be useful. Now obviously, I wouldn’t expect an exact copy of the CSM and I apologize if that is the impression I gave. It could be a group of people ArenaNet finds competent, the community finds competent, or a combination of both. It would be up to them, I don’t make the game I only play it, and they would have a much better insight as to how implement it.

I would love to have an NPC in Lions Arch or the main cities that had the armors and weapons available for all the renown hearts a player has completed across all the maps. It is kinda obnoxious trying to remember what armor set came from what map, then trying to figure out what piece came from what NPC on that map.
I too am not much of a fan of the two people facing each other cut scene things. That said, I did think the voice overs were pretty good. Some were better than others, granted, but still pretty good. I think it would have come across better if the characters talking were actually doing things while talking, like you know people, instead of just awkwardly standing there.
Asura tossing would make a fantastic mini game. After all, not really any more dwarfs to toss.
No, not even a little.
I always thought it would be cool to have a retro day where everyone played a bit of GW1.
Primarily, I would love to see a brand new continent, and much more depth in solo friendly questing. I have lots of other wants, but listing anymore would make me sound like an ungrateful kitten
I don’t really have a problem with this. If someone wants to spend a crap load of money on a fancy sword in the game, that’s their business. Some people may not have the time to put into getting a Legendary, so why should they be left out? They aren’t getting an unfair advantage by buying one.
The size of the file.
Yup! Sure are. I made it through the game with very few problems solo, and that was spec’d out as a glass cannon as well. Generally speaking, I mostly play with a staff in pve. The more range you have the better.
I would love to see greatsword stuff for an ele.
I don’t get spammed at all. o_0 On a side note though, as someone who has worked in the tech support field. Specifically for Apple, you will not get a lot of cooperation from them with an attitude like that.
I only bothered really starting to play fractals today, and I must say the art direction in the fractals is absolutely amazing. Keep it up guys!
I only have ~1300. Epic failure.
I play a glass cannon Ele and I really don’t die all that much. Mostly by way of avoiding getting hit.
Nice. Now I am starting to want a legendary. o_0
The fact that they decided to make an official forum for Guild Wars 2 when they didn’t for Guild War would indicate otherwise.
If they’re already not responding/communicating enough with us as their playerbase I doubt a CSM would work, although I do wish there was some form of representation for us. I honestly think they would gain alot from the approach CCP took.
The trouble is how would you go about electing the representatives when there is very little public recognition of players outside of niche tournament streaming. There are no killboards, no massive in game alliances and a non-existent blogging community.
You have a point. As it stands, the only people likely to get elected are people who yell the loudest on the forums and perhaps some commanders that spend and inordinate amount of time in WvW. May be something that becomes a more viable option down the road.
Wow. I must say, that is fantastic. Anet, well done.
It is an MMO. No such thing as winning. That said. I am having fun and therefore it is worth my monies.
I must say. I completely agree with OP on this. There is a massive amount of kitten on this forum with people always complaining about bugs and mechanics and whatnot, when they don’t seem to realize that these issues take time to deal with. Also to all those people who have spent more time making the game then anyone who is playing the game (which I am pretty sure is all of you). Keep up the good work. You have succeeded in making one of my all time favorite games. Congrats and don’t let all of these naysayers get you down!
Almost forgot.

I would absolutely love some profession specific armor. That is a LOT of armor to make though, so I don’t really see it happening.
On top of playing Guild Wars 2, I also play a game many of you may be familiar with called EVE Online. One of the features of EVE online, or rather its community, is something called the Council of Stellar Management. Basically this is a group of players elected to interface directly with both the general public and CCP (the company that makes the game) to bring attention to issues, concerns, or suggestions the community has. It has been a big success for that game and was thinking something like this could also benefit Guild Wars 2 as well.
More info on how it works here:

Anyone else have thoughts on this, staff or community?
I generally talk to the NPCs, but reading text just isn’t the same as cut scenes and actual dialogue. I guess what I am getting at is this. While the NPC’s give a sense for what is going on in the world, there isn’t really all that much evolving it on the regional level and I feel regional story arcs would be a good mechanism to drive this evolution. Plus it would serve to bring back people into the lower level zones that are somewhat desolate nowadays. Thanks for the reply by the way!
1.) I would love to see story based, solo friendly missions in scale somewhere between the personal story and the renown hearts. Such as region centric mission story arcs.

2.) Will we ever see the entire planet of Tyria? I noticed it shows up in some imagery in the game, but what are the chances we will be able to play on some brand new continents in the future? Something based on a stylized American Southwest would be epic.
3.) Not a question, but keep up the fantastic work.
That didn’t even occur to me but that is a fantastic idea. I would love to see more involvement with certain characters. I would also like to see more impact of the dignity, ferocity, and charm mechanics. At the moment I cannot really tell what impact if any they have.
