In the blog post there was this picture:

Can we expect to see profession specific armors and weapons? If so, is it only cosmetic or will it also have different stats?

I noticed with the recent blog post there is a picture of new rewards for open world stuff, some of which appears to be profession specific gear. Any ideas what this will be? Armor or weapon skins? Full fledged armor or weapons wish profession specific stats?

Google it. This is not difficult to figure out. There is no reason not to use pacific time over any other time zone, in fact, as the company is based on pacific, it makes perfect sense that they should use that.

This is something that has always annoyed me. The clothing your wear, should ideally not reflect who you are as a person, be it a thong, or a trench coat, just because that may be what you are wearing does not mean that you are a kitten or not. Many cultures past and present wear nothing more than an thong, and nobody finds them kittenty or sexualized, that is just they way they are/were. That said, in this country anyway, it has been drilled into our heads that sexy clothing and skin automatically makes you an immoral kitten.

What is wrong with nudity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: phlemhacker.1372

phlemhacker.1372

Here are the problems with nudity:

4. In western countries, eating disorders are on the rise. This is because the media portrays the human body—male and female—in a very unrealistic manner. From a young age, people see many more fake bodies from media, then they do real life bodies. As a result, they come to believe that bodies in the media are normal, when in truth they are edited by computers, and physically impossible for a real person to get. This not only causes people to be uncomfortable with their own bodies, but to be cruel and judgemental about the bodies of others.
The bodies in Guild Wars 2 are super-idealized. NOBODY looks like that for real. We don’t need another media outlet warping people’s perception and causing mental health problems.

This is hardly correct. I have seen many people that look like the bodies in the game. On top of that, obesity a far bigger problem in the western world than eating disorders.

I like the idea of adult servers, but not for nudity reasons, I simply would rather play with other adults rather than kids.

As for the nudity part, I am always amazed at the fact people in the country have no problem with people getting killed or doing the killing in movies, video games, or T.V. but as soon as somebody whips out a kitten crap hits the fan. That said, I don’t really see it fitting in with the game much, the closest thing I have seen in that regard is that largos chick in the story, and that isn’t even bad.

Who reads the TOS? Did you?
What if i’m not good with English? You can’t agree to a contract to which you don’t have the capacity to fully comphrend it. It will be deem voided.

Don’t make me laugh.

What? Should someone be bound to a contract that they don’t understand?

If they agree to it, absolutely.

Obviously your understanding in law and common sense is lacking. How does one agree to something, in which, they don’t know what that something is? Do you seriously expect a “contract” written in spanish or chinese in which the person “agreeing” to it simply does not have the ability to understand it to hold up in a court of law? I suppose with your reasoning, it comes as no surprise you agree with ANet’s decision.

-Law student.

If I was drunk when I agreed to the UELA, am I bound to it?

Yes, unless Anet made you drunk against your will or knowledge (such as spiking your drink or something) and you signed the UELA, then you are bound. Or you might be bound anyway… someone correct me on this?

If it can be demonstrated that he was indeed drunk and that affected his judgement or capacity to comprehend the terms of the agreement, the contract will not be valid.

Look, I worked a company that was designed around people being dumb enough to not read ToS agreements. Many people simply didn’t read it and agreed to it anyway, but some of people that called in were french Canadians that didn’t speak English for crap, and guess what? The ‘I didn’t understand it’ argument didn’t fly. Simply put, these people should not have been agreeing to things they don’t understand.

Real world experience > law student experience.

It seems like you do not understand what you are talking about…

Now, i want you to think about who the ToS is for. In case you didn’t figure it out, its design for the court and to cover their behind if a dispute were to occur.
What you’re saying sounds a lot like your company upholding their policy and taking a stance in ignorance to the law. Should this french speaking client of yours file claim in court, it would be a case what lawyer would call “slam dunk” because its obvious what the outcome would be. Assuming the person legitimately doesn’t speak that language.

Yes, you shouldn’t agree to something you don’t understand, but who’s to say they understand they are agreeing to something? Or better yet, why should the person who insist in its validity of the contract present a document that the other party may not understand in the first place?

Common sense > “real world experience”

It was my JOB to know what I am talking about.

Again, the only reason anyone would know that they are agreeing to something is if they understand it. The documents written in language X are for people that speak and understand language X. If a person that speaks and understands language Y comes along, they shouldn’t mess with it because its written in language X and they don’t understand it and shouldn’t agree to things they don’t understand. The only reason he would be in a situation in which he would be agreeing to something he didn’t understand was if he already had an idea of what he wanted out of it. For example, a game comes out, but it’s foreign, and isn’t available in your native language, but you may find it irresistible and want to play it, which means dealing with those documents you don’t understand. Now a smart person would do some research and find out what they are getting into. A dumb person would not. People don’t get into those situations by accident. Not unless they were randomly traipsing around websites and content they didn’t understand. Which is also stupid.

Common sense is not getting involved with things you are not familiar with.

Cause your post there is sooo much more productive.

It is not my job, nor anyone’s to feed this guys ego and attempt to make him play again. All that is doing is adding to the endless torrent of “look at me!” threads. I basically quit at level 67. The dynamic events started getting cut and paste, the dungeons were boring and the combat was sluggish, clunky, and too simple. The story was beyond cliched and reading the dialogue makes me want to scream at the writers. … the VA is terrible and to me GW2 just is not even close to how innovative GW1 was.

I’m basically a action-type gamer mostly… like FPS (call of duty, farcry), action RPG (dragon nest), 3rd person hack and slash (vindictus). I did play 6000+ hours of GW1 though, which is why I bought GW2. Only 100 hours into GW2 I was bored and just stopped playing. I don’t play open world MMOs like WoW, lineage, ever quest etc. I tried getting into those but quit within hours.

So in the span of 4 months since I stopped playing, has anything changed for the better? What are the 1000+ hour players doing that’s enjoying this game? Cause dynamic events, dungeons, quests, storyline, exploring is just all boring to me… And OMG the dragon bosses in GW2 are lame. They just stand there and get hit, they don’t fly around and fire bomb you, no real variation in attack patterns or boss movements. Nothing to really “watch out” for.

So please tell me… what’s fun in this game, because I have yet to discover it yet and my 60$ still feel wasted.

No. Get out of here. Shoo…

Now I am Level 80 and Rank 40 in sPvP. World completion is mine and I’ve done everything you have to offer. It’s not enough to keep me happy and still playing your game. It feels like a waste of time to be honest. I expected so much more from you and you can still save this game before some newbie company steals your ideas and features of this game and polish it for themselves – adapting their game to what people in Guild Wars 2 wants. I’ll take a break soon from Guild Wars 2 and come back in a year or two. I hope you’ll fix everything people want to see in Guild Wars 2 within that time frame so I can come back and enjoy your game again. I have been with you guys for 3 years before launch, posting suggestions and personal ideas for this game on your wikipedia site to make sure the outcome of this game was perfect which in my opinion it wasn’t. I will make sure to include what made me leave Guild Wars 2 so I can leave with a decent conscience.

Not this crap again. These threads have no use except for people filling their ego meter. 1000 hours into a game and you are kitten off there is nothing to do? 41 DAYS of content isn’t good enough for you? That is an absurd amount of time to put into a game that only came out a few months ago. Perhaps if you paced yourself a bit you might not bore yourself so fast.

The fact is GW2 has nothing to do with the game Anet promised. GW2 is good game for few weeks. But after lvl 80 it’s over. And don’t tell me to be nice. Anet made game for 14 old teens, which never ever played MMO. They don’t respect me as a player, they lied to me in their manifesto, so why I shall respect them? When they made from this one a really new game, not some stupid WoW clone, I will respect them and will be nice.

Well my guess is that they would have to add new gear to complement higher levels, but I would think that they would add cheap and easy to gear as well as super rare grindy gear just so people can avoid that. I am a fairly casual player so I don’t see the point in spending a ton of time for a slight increase in stats, and ArenaNet understands that. So my guess is that they will have easy to acquire stuff that is still relevant to the content and god awful obnoxious stuff for those who are OCD.

Perspective is pretty rough on some people. The attention seeker on the forums is usually the most abrasive undesirable you can possibly imagine playing with in game for a host of clearly obvious reasons to anyone from an opposing perspective.

But from inside the looking box, people tend to ignore reality in favor of fuel for their nuerosis and drama cravings.

I mean sure it could be a real complaint, but why would a thoughtful and rational complaint be filed on the forums if not for the sole purpose of attracting attention…?

Kicking someone so they can’t lewt is a hallowed MMO tradition. There is a specfic etiquette the majority of players follow when exacting this kind of punishment. I have every inclination that the etiquette was followed in the cases provided here.

Constantly avoiding any expression of responsibility when you screw up, ergo you fall in the hole (or any number of other mistakes made during the rest of the crawl), is among the behaviors that can result in getting kicked before lewt. Just as an example.

And before you get all semantics about it. The idea is to punish. Not to benefit. People don’t usually want to punish you unless you do something to warrant it.

Definitely what he said.
