As it stands, there is not a whole lot of choice for an expansive, solo friendly, story based quest arc. There is the personal story, which is good, but beyond that you are pretty much done. Sure there are dungeons, but those require a party and remain completely localized.
What I would propose would be a sort of regional story arc, a type of mission that would be solo friendly, yet encompass the span of several maps in the region or regions, driving exploration and adding an additional level of depth to the world that the renown hearts and dynamic events cannot convey. Perhaps exploring the political and social climates of the regions in more depth, for example.
Ideally I would like to see perhaps four to five story arcs per region, each consisting of between five and ten missions lasting anywhere from ten to thirty minutes each. Additionally, to prevent stagnation, these arcs would be changed from time, perhaps monthly, annually, semi-annually, or any combination thereof, chained together to create a continuing, overall story.
TL;DR: I would love to see solo friendly story arcs that span multiple maps that would be changed, yet related and advanced every so often to keep things fresh.
I noticed this as well but realized it was probably more effort than it was worth to deal with.
I too agree. I would love to slap a pair of glasses onto my char.
The audio in this game is fantastic (Compared to Factions).
I have two accounts, and was trying to send some gold to my character on my other account but it never got to me. Have done this several times but today is the first time it has happened. Tried it a few times and didn’t work at all even though it said “mail sent successfully”. Anyone else have this problem or something similar? Lost more than a gold. :/
My guess is that we will see some areas up north open up, beyond that, I have no idea.
I would guess that GW1 expansions weren’t selling that well anymore, I always saw them for bargain basement prices at game stores. So to just make more of the same wouldn’t make sense.
I like the game very much, even if I do miss the strategic aspects of making team builds for me and my heroes. I like the action aspect, I like their decision to mix dps with some support instead of the holy trinity. I love the gorgeous world (like GW1 was back in the day) and the DE system where I can log in and run into some action within minutes.
Their ambitions and hype sold GW2 in great numbers, so I think they did the right thing by thinking BIG and going for new stuff.
They did fall short, with many elements being buggy or barely implemented (traits, guilds, home instances to name some), but I appreciate that they tried and now are fixing the shortcomings over time with the money they are making from the game.
They were selling fine, the biggest problem was that every time they wanted to make an expansion and introduce new mechanics, they had to spend a stupid amount of time explaining and implementing them. With GW2, they can do that, but it was made for expansions from the beginning and as such should be a bit simpler to implement new mechanics. Hopefully that made sense. :l
I want henchies.
I have said it once, I’ll say it again. What the game shows is normal. Everyone nowadays is just fat. There is supposedly a lot of pressure on modern women to be skinny. Clearly there is not enough pressure, because in the United States, the majority of women (and men for that matter) are overweight. There is a massive difference between slender women and women who are genuinely unhealthy. Tbh though, I am also a little drunk. the morning will tell more.
One thing I just remembered though. I hate going to LA and automatically getting stuck in overflow. They really should have put fractals in a different spot. :l
They haven’t done enough drugs to appreciate the art. In all seriousness though, I have no idea, I love the idea.
I like GW2 as it is. That said though, I would give my left nut to see a Utopia campaign to GW1.
God dangit. How did I miss that post? Still, geographically speaking…
Am I the only one who wants to know what lies to the East of the Blazeridge Mountains? I would like to see some type of arid landscape much like the Southwest United States. Anyone else have any ideas?
Not all events are supposed to be conquerable 100% of the time. That is why they are DYNAMIC events.
The first Guild Wars didn’t specialize in anything and it was fantastically successful. In fact I would say the way the original Guild Wars was rounded out was WHY it was so successful. People could jump into nearly any aspect they wanted to without getting run out for not knowing every nuance of the game (perhaps with the exception of HA in the last few years) and it is reasonable to assume Guild Wars 2 will do well for the same reason.
It specialized in PvP. How many other MMO’s on the market had good GvG PvP?
Well, EVE for one. Guild Wars one did everything pretty well. Except persistence of course.

I liked Tybalt.

I also play a glass cannon. Near as I can tell, hasn’t changed much. Still a bunch of damage dealt, still super squishy. Can’t say for PvP as I haven’t done it for a while, but PvE and WvW are virtually unchanged.
Plus it’s free. This is a fantastic game for casuals who will log in just for the expansions who are too busy to care about a new tier of items and just want to get away for a few hours when new content is released.
I doubt I will ever bother with a legendary. I still can’t even be bothered to finish of the map exploration.
Meh, I like them as is.
I generally prefer open. Despite this being an MMO, I don’t really like playing with people all that much. Terribly unreliable.
sometimes though I like MMO’s for fighting other people instead of playing “with” them lol
I do like the non-grouping-cooperating though in this game- no tag, no need to party etc
leveling up new characters I often find an event I have done before but with far less players around…sometimes things just click and without a word being said you can win a tough fight. Try it again later and the people don’t cooperate and you haven’t a chance at success.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed it and the times when players actually do come together for a victory it’s a rewarding experience.
I agree with you there. Grouping up for events without partying is great. As for fighting other people, that’s why I play EVE as well. :l

I was brought up to believe, belief has failed me now
The bright glow of optimism abandoned me somehow
Oh belief has failed me now, life goes from bad to worse
No philosophy consoles me in a GuildWars universe…I haven’t really played since Mid November. I’d played GW1 effectively since its launch back in 2005 and I wanted to love this game. My friends who started GW2 with me had abandoned the game back in September and October, and I just kept going. I was working on my second lv 80 character, and was trying to work towards Dungeon Master. Despite my friends having left the game, I had found a guild I was happy with and was still enjoying content. Then fractals came out.
A few of my guildmates went about requesting refunds or just straight up leaving the game. The guild fragmented. My core group was gone. I thought to myself. Well, I was having fun before, I can still have fun with the game despite my frustrations with Ascended tier gear. Except what happened to the game afterwards..
Some of the dungeons were difficult to find groups for as it was, now it was almost impossible. Bugged paths are still bugged, and the last few dungeons stay contested at almost all times because nobody is doing the dynamic events to reclaim them.
I haven’t logged in for about 3 weeks now, but I keep coming back to these boards because I’m hoping against hope that something will have changed, or that there would be at least news about things to come. Nothing. Such a shame. If nothing else I’ll have more time now for my reading..
Goodnight Guildwars. Goodnight.
Togashi Jack – GWAMM – May 2005 to December 2012.
Noted. Now get out.
All my chars have different hair, one white, or gray or silver. Whatever. Primary is black haired though. Best choice personally.
Am I the only one that wants to play a hylek?
It still amazes me that in this world of rampant obesity; healthy, slender women are now considered anorexic and underweight.
Cultural prices are fine. Quit whining that you are unable to afford it. It’s supposed to be hard.
